Battery Died so fast.

A few days ago, I was shutting down my laptop.  I didn't check if the laptop turned off.  But the next day, my battery died.  It had the blinking orange battery.  The AC adapter doesn't charge it anymore.  I still have my warranty under November.   It hasn't been a year yet.  I'm wondering how I go about getting my battery replaced.
Any info will help.
Thanks,
Mike

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 Battery Dying Extremely Fast - After 4.3 Update

I have been struggling with this same issue, have killed all unnecessary apps, cleared the cache, performed a factory reset and even tried a new battery, and still have an issue where after a full charge, my battery would drain to around 90% in less than 30 minutes.  Sometimes, even faster.
It seems that nobody has been able to nail down a solution, so I attempted to contact Samsung to see what their suggestions might be.
The conversation I had with an agent basically sums up like this:
There's nothing they can do because they do not have reports of this issue and request that I send in my phone to be physically examined.
So, Samsung basically told me to send it in and see if they can do anything about it.  I don't have the insurance set up on my account, so I can't hold that in place, and I have no other way to get in touch with people and have a small child, so I can't exactly just mail off my phone for them to examine it.  So, basically, Samsung is avoiding the issue and we still have no true resolution.
If anyone has any other ideas, fixes, things I can attempt without having to send my phone in for someone to "examine", it would be greatly appreciated.
Please note that I have deleted/uninstalled/cleared cache on many apps, finally completely reset the phone to factory settings and then tried a brand new battery, and the drainage is still extremely significant.

Simple fix. No. Seriously. I had this on mine and the fix worked like a charm.
I appologize in advance that I do not have screenshots, so I'll do my best to step by step describe this as best as possible.  The culprit is your e-mail app (not g-mail --- e-mail).  I don't know the specifics, but it has issues with syncing between Yahoo accounts and Google accounts and it supposedly causes the e-mail client on your phone to run CONSTANTLY to try to sync.  This will drain your battery like crazy.
No. This process never shows up in the battery useage thingy that they had you check.  It is a background app process and won't show there.  Sorry VZ people, but your normal tech magic has no power here.  This is a known bug with Android 4.3.
You have to disable the sync, but this has the unintended effect of rendering your e-mail app useless since it will no longer get your e-mails for you, even if you manually sync it.  Just download the Yahoo Mail app and you'll be fine. (or whatever other e-mail service you're using).
From your In-Box, touch the menu button to the left of the home button.  The menu comes up with "Sort By", "View As", "Font Size", and "Settings"  -- Touch "Settings"
Under the settings menu, you should see "+Add Account" at the top and "Account Settings" with your e-mail address directly under that.  Go ahead and click that.  It should bring up another menu with your e-mail address and a green check mark beside it.  Touch your e-mail address to open its settings.
The top option is "Sync Settings" - that is the one that we want... click it.   You should see "Sync E-mail" at the top and below it, it will say "Master sync has been turned off" and there should be a green check in the box to the right.  Touch the green checkmark to fix the issue. The green check should be on and it should now say "Sync turned off."
You've now fixed the problem and disabled your e-mail app from sucking your battery.  Not sure why it sets up like that, but with the Master Sync turned off, your e-mail app will try endlessly to sync with the other services via master sync and it will never be able to.... so it keeps running and running and running.  Sucks.
Now that you're fixed, just get a service specific e-mail app and be happy with a phone that doesn't die in an hour!!!!
Keep in mind that you will still need to monitor things like Wifi being on when you're not connected to Wifi, GPS, and screen brightness.  Those will drain it quickly too.
I used to be able to unplug my phone @ 100% and litterally watch it drop without even unlocking it.  Now, I can use it casually/semi-hard all day at work and still go home with 40-50% of a battery.
    Best of luck!

  • Why is my ipod touch 4 generation battery dying so fast?

Ok, I recieved a refurbished iPod touch 4 gen from Apple after my previous ipod touch 4 gen had problems with the home button not responding. This "new" ipod works great, but recently I've been having problems with the battery... I downloaded the recent update for fixing numerous things with the ipod touch from Apple... And itworks great again... But I'm curious as to WHY my battery is loosing its charge so fast... I'll be playing ANGRY BIRDS SPACE on my ipod for like 20-30 minutes, with the screen brightness lowest that it could go and  on a full charge, then press the home button and the battery is half gone! should I set up a repair with Apple? Or is this normal? I just hate going through the whole process of the repair and then getting an ipod that may not work as good as this one... I do have a lot of memmory on my ipod, its a 32 GB, black, not dropped or scratched, 9.9 Gb is used for: 6 movies, 17 apps, and 67 songs... The apps listed previous DO NOT include the already downloaded apps, such as: Calendar and camara etc... Ohh too i dont have any photos stored on my ipod either. Please respond! Thanks!

    Hi claire-bare,
Here is a link for the Apple phone support folks. I would give calling them a shot - I had better luck with them when I had a problem (back in the day) with my iPad 1 when I first got it. I had taken it down to the Apple Store because it kept getting a "not charging" indicator whenever I tried to charge it. They provided a temporary fix (one that worked for about a day) and then it started up again. Since I am over an hour away from the store, I called the support line, and after some redundant troubleshooting (but necessary for the tech to ensure that things were not right), they sent me a new iPad, a box to return the old one, and a number to call UPS for a pick-up. Really nice guy I worked with and he really worked hard to get things right for me. So, here is the list of worldwide support numbers:

I'm a big Bar Harbor fan too! We live a couple of hours away, but what a beautiful place to go. Not sure you'd want to be here right now....we got snow a couple of days ago. But, things are looking up - snow's now all melted, and spring is definitely around the corner....so maybe in a couple of weeks or so?
Hope you have a good experience with the phone support folks - I think you will....

  • Why is my battery dying so fast

The battery is fully charged and once i take it off the charger it goes down to about 50% in about an hour. i make sure there are no apps open in the background and it just keeps going down.

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
It's odd that it drops so fast so I question first is it really charging to full. I would question if the battery, cable, wall plug or wall outlet is bad. You can try to isolate these and narrow down the suspects. First use a different wall outlet. Sometimes one will go bad and you don't know it. Then try to borrow a cord and wall plug. Change only one to see if it makes a difference and if not try the other.
If none of these have worked then I would take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Service Center o be checked out. Maybe someone else on the forum has something else that might help. Good luck!

  • Battery Dying too fast!

Hello! I have have my curve 9300 for just over a year now and my battery lasts 6 hours tops. I do not have bluetooth on, or any gps on. I have no applications running in the background either. I don't use any social media on my device.
The problem started late Februry, I wondered why isn't my phone holding a charge? I asked my service provider one day and they said I needed a new battery. They charged my phone for half an hour and it was fixed! My phone could go for 3 days without needing a charge.
Now it's back to its old habits! At school I will have it turned off and it will be dead at the end of the day. I need a solution! I've tried removing my battery and SIM card, nothing seems to help, and I don't understand why it was fine for 3 weeks after telus charged it for me.
Any help other then the obvious tips about background apps running would be much appreciated!!

Have you tried letting it trickle charge and let the iPod charger until theres a plug at the right corner of the screen where the battery is? If that doesn't help, then the battery will have to be replaced ($79 if out of warrenty). http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html

  • Battery dying faster than normal and I have been to the Apple Store and battery is fine

Is anyone else experiencing this? Both my iPad and my iPhone 5 started to have the battery die 2x faster after the latest upgrade. I have reset it without losing data and I am about to reset one of them back to original. Any one have any suggestions? I am thinking that one of my apps is trying to always load or search for wifi but not sure and don't know how to figure out which one it is.
I have been to the Apple store and they have checked my batteries and both are fine. The staff suggested that I let the battery die right down and completely charge it and then shut it down for a few seconds. so that the device is " clean" and then turn it back on but that didn't work at all.

You can poke around in the settings. There's a lot of stuff defaulted to on that you may not need. Such as notifications. Background app update, background app update. Try turning those off and see if that helps.

  • IPhone 4 battery life, Why does it die so fast and what can I do?

I have had an iPhone 4 for a little over two years now and feel like recently, my battery is dying so fast.
When I go out for the day it always dies before I get home, what I think it is, could be that I take a lot of pictures and use many picture apps, but I don' think that it has always been this bad. NO matter what I do, when I go out to shoot at the park, it dies within a few hours. I hardly use it for other things besides that and it still dies. Yesterday when I left the house at 12, and came home at 5, it was dead.
I did all of the things I read about that I need to do, like closing the apps, etc.
I don't get it, is it me, or the battery being old or what? Should I buy a portable charger or do I need a new phone?
I have a question about charging the battery as well. A coworker of mine told me that you need to let your battery die out every time, and then charge it, but I never do that. Is that neccessary to save the battery?
    Thank you.
(*not sure what the difference is between CDMA and GSM? sorry)

Thank you, I am going the Apple store today for a genius appointment. L
ast night I let it die, and charged it to 100%, then I unplugged it and went to sleep. at 530am it was at 98% - I used it quite a lot for texting, and taking and editing pictures and use of the internet. it just died at 1:30pm, so it lasted exactly 8 hours.
    Thanks again.

  • HT5012 I have a first generation Iphone 5 and my question is why is my phone heating up so bad to the point where its almost to hot to touch on the back. On top of that the battery is dieing so fast that it usually lasts about 3 hrs on a full charge. Help

So basically my iPhone 5 has been heating up so bad that it feels like its about to over heat and die. I've never had this happen to any other of my iPhones.  On top of that the battery is dying so fast that on a full charge is lasts about 3 hrs give or take. Ive tried closing all my apps like i usually do anyways, i tuned down the light, I've reset it and booted it back up, reset it and used iCloud backup, ext... Nothing is working. I'm to the point where i  almost want to get a new phone. I even tried calling apple support and they couldn't help me cause from what it sounded like they had no idea what they were doing. If anyone has any comments on how to fix this i would greatly appreciate it . I do love apple products and i have a upgrade and plan on upgrading my phone when the new one comes out but for the time being IDE like to fix the phone i have now that I've only had for a little bit anyways. Thanks

You are probably going to have to take a trip to the Apple Store, but you can also make sure that:
Bluetooth is turned off when not in use
Location Services are only turned on for those locations that you want a constant update to
Background App Refresh is turned off
    Automatic Downloads is turned off
Cellular Roaming is turned off when you don't need it
Go through your Settings and take a look at all of the settings to determine if you have any turned on that may be using a lot of battery, and which you really don't need.
    Cheers,

  • Why battery is dying too fast after iso5.01 upgrade

why battery is dying too fast after iso5.01 upgrade,  It is dying on an average of 13% every hour and a half, in sleep mode.  I've tried hard restart and restore in I tunes, no difference!  It got worse after I upgraded to 5.01.  This has to fixed If I dont use the phone it will need a full charge by noon.

Do a forum search and try some of the suggestions there before starting a whole new thread about battery issues.

  • Why is my battery for my I phone 5 dying so fast?

I have only had my phone since friday and the battery is dying really fast all the time? What should I do?

How fast? For an interactive game that uses data (cellular or WiFi) you should expect about 5 hours of battery life. Are you getting less than that?

  • My computer is 3 1/2 months old and my battery is dying really fast what can I do to increase the battery life??

My computer is 3 1/2 months old and my battery is dying really fast what can I do to increase the battery life?

    Hi,
    I asssume it's a laptop!
1st I would run it right down & then do a full recharge, then run it down again + a full recharge..
Check that you do not have any apps running in the background, reset PRAM..
When all's done I usually run a movie & time how long the battery lasts..if after that & no joy call Apple Help..

  • Does it make my battery die faster when i plug it in the wall(every wall charger)

i was jut asking myself if it hurt my battery when i charge it on the wall because sometimes it get really hot....i used to plug my old ipod touch in a wall charger that came with my rechargeable AA battery... does it make my battery die faster?

It shouldn't, no, not when using the correct charger. The charging circuitry in your iPod has a cutoff to stop charging when the battery is completely charges. If you're using some other charger, though, that provides a different current or, worse, a different voltage, then you may indeed hurt your iPod. I'd strongly suggest you use only a charger such as the AC adapter that came with the iPod, that is verified to be compatible with your generation of iPod touch.
    Regards.

  • My iPod battery is dying VERY fast, Help?

I have an iPod touch 4th gen. and i love it. The problem is that the battery dies very fast. It will be completely charged and then 15 minutes later after facetiming or something it will be almost dead. But, when i turn it off it charges back up a little How do I fix this? Help? I use my ipod for school and i cant use it much when the battery is almost dead.

It would be a good idea to have the techs at the Apple store genius bar test the iPod Touch and see if the battery is failing...that is a very fast drain problem.

  • Battery dies very fast just in standby-HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

My battery on my bb has been dieing very fast in standby. I have no apps running no wifi no blue tooth. I have may found the issue that might be a bigger issue with my phone what you say. The signal can go from 4 bars to no bars and stay at no bars for a few then jump back up to 4 bars. This I think happens all the time there for my battery being dead all the time. I looked at Verizon's map and I get full coverage  in my house and my bb does not leave my house.
Please give me Kudos if you feel like I helped you
    Thank you
    cuse165

The map really doesn't matter here, coverage can vary due to many factors such as terrain, etc.
IF you device is constantly searching for a signal, that can drain the battery.
