Battery Dieing Too Quick?

I text alot throughout the day, but today, the Usage was just on 42m and I could see the battery icon starting to drop. I just got my phone like a month ago. Is it true that using your phone while its charging shortens the battery lifetime? Are there bettery batteries out there for people who actually like to use their iPhone?

An iPhone reset does not power the iPhone off.
An iPhone reset is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.
An iPhone reset is similar to a computer restart vs powering the iPhone or a computer off and on.
Isn't a reset going to get rid of all the applications and contacts? (those contacts arent on my computer)
An iPhone reset does not affect any data or settings. An iPhone is designed to sync with a supported application on your computer for contact info. If you don't do so, there is a chance you will lose all contact info on your iPhone one day. iPhone contact info is included with your iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes during the sync process - as the very first step during the sync process if any data on your iPhone included with your iPhone's backup has changed since the last sync, which is usually 100% of the time. Other data is included with your iPhone's backup, which is why it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup alone for this data.
How do you get by using your computer without your contact info available on your computer - at least email addresses for your contacts?
On a PC, Outlook 2003 or 2007 is supported along with the address book used by Outlook Express with XP, or the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - the name change for Outlook Express with Vista.
On a Mac, you can sync with the Address Book application, or with Entourage 2004 or later - which is equivalent to Outlook on a Mac.

  • IPod Mini battery dying too quickly

I got an iPod Mini very recently, on September 14, 2005. I read in the User's Manual that it would take about a month for the battery to go from completely charged to completely drained if I didn't use it at all. Well, I charged my iPod fully on Tuesday or so, and by this morning it was 3/4 drained - after no more than 6 days of not being used!
Also, the battery seems to die very quickly when I'm playing music on my iPod. It's supposed to have 18 hours of playback, but after about four hours total, it was very close to being drained. I know the battery metre is approximate, but I doubt it's 14 hours off.
I'm really hoping this isn't normal, because I don't use my iPod that much and I don't want to have to recharge it every week even when it's not being used, or every day when it IS being used.
So my question is...is this normal? Or should I take the iPod back to where I bought it and get it exchanged? Any other advice?

This is ridiclous. A lot of people seem to be having the same problems. I mean as it states 18hrs of playback it should be. I have the same problem and dont even use it much. When fully charged I only get about 4-5 hrs playback. I went back to where I got it and they told me to contact Apple as they dont have any more dealings with you as its between aple and the consumer. I have contacted them now. It also has stopped working for me since yesterday. I knew there was half of the battery left so when I went to turn it on, theres no response from it. The screen stays blank. I also plugged it into PC and its not being recognised on my iTunes. Its powerless and Ive tried all their recommendations but to no avail.

  • Why does my battery die so quickly with iOS 7?

Why does my battery die so quickly with iOS 7? Charged to 100%. Unplugged and opened up an hour later. Down to 88%. Why? No apps open.

I think it might also be a bug, my 4S went down to 1% I could actually see it go down from 18% just like a watch. The phone started at about 60% and went down to 1% in about an hour but the useage still stated I had over 6 hours of stand by time, when I plugged in the phone to charge it jumped from 1% to 27%.

  • My Iphone 5's battery is dying too quickly.

I have an iphone 5 and for the past 3 days the battery has been draining way too quickly even on standby. I did system restore and the problem cured for a few hours. Also the phone has been heating up a lot too lately. First I thought its because its in my case than I left it out in room temperature and the phone heated the same way. It heats most when its connected to its charger which isn't charging the phone to 100%, only 99%. I have sprint and I have not ever been able to send picture messages with the iphone 5. Sprint says everything is fine on their end and Apple says the same. I had an iphone 4s before and that was perfect compared to this and I paid full price for this iphone 5 64GB. I feel like I got a bad phone. Any one else having this problem too?

After waiting a month for my iphone it finally came in  last wednesday and same thing with mine. I don't even go on it that much to save it and the battery percent goes down by the minute.. Is it just my phone or is it a software problem? I have had my iphone 3g for 3 years and my battery lasted throughout the day even on it's last leg. I never had the 4 so i can't compare that to the 5.

  • Why does my battery die so quickly after updating to iOS 6.0.2 on the iPhone 5!?

Is there a fix to this or do we have to wait for the next update? My iPhone has become a useless 2-hour-running brick in my pocket...

Yes, my battery is draining quickly and recharging slowly.  Search is extremely slow, aol email won't work.  Kindle app all messed up, lost all on device but have it backed up on amazon.  I have slowly been discovering all that is wrong since Sunday's debacle of an update.  Apple deleted a post siting improper just because i told the truth.  They can delete all they want but this is one  screwed up mess and they are desperate.

  • Battery Dying Very Quickly

In the past week my Samsung Galaxy S3 has been dying very rapidly. Before this started my battery would last the entire day. Beginning about a week ago I noticed that after a complete charge my battery will drain to 40% or 50% after just one hour and I am not even using it but for maybe 5 minutes during that hour. The battery continues to drain very quickly so I am constantly having to charge it during the middle of the day. I also noticed that if I am using it while it is charging the battery life will not increase, whereas before it would. Also, when the battery level gets low the message to plug in your charger appears, but when I hit "okay" the message just keeps reappearing over and over. Before it would just appear every few minutes or so. I did a cache wipe a few days ago which seemed to improve it for a day, but all the issues are reappearing.
Any ideas on what I should do?

There have been reports of the s3 battery charge not being detected correctly, and it stopping its charge when it thinks its at 100% even if it isn't. (However it was said to be happening with International versions as opposed to US versions). Someone reported that Samsungs website recommend turning off power saving, rebooting the phone, and then charging the phone to get it to report correctly. Don't know if that will work or not, but you could try it. If you haven't already looked up battery issues on the Samgsung website give that a try.

  • After upgrading to Maverick my apple wireless keyboard battery drain too quickly (30% in 1 day)

Just as the topic's tittle, after upgrading to Maverick, along with many small errors, keyboard battery draining is by far the most not-so-pleasuring thing to deal with. My keyboard used to consume roughly a few battery percent per week. After the OS upgrade, still with the same using habit, it went from 80% down to 60% the last week, and from 60% to 30% just yesterday. Does anyone else here get this and any solution please? Much appreciate it! Thank you!

Software bugs are killing not only IT industry (just look the drop in PC sales, and also a new sharp drop in tablet sales!), but industry in general.
The reason for this is very simple: wrong people are on wrong jobs. As simple as that.
To introduce this kind of bug, the drain of keyboard battery after installing an "advanced" version 100 (or so) operating system, and have this kind of bug a Jimmy from 3rd grade would not had made, is beyond comprehension.
I trace these kind of stupidities for at least 30 years. While Microsoft can be forgiven as they started it all with a poorly conceived operating system foundation by a few teenegers and later it was impossible to go back to square one, the Apple on the other hand had all things available to them beautifully: the most advanced, architecturally, operating system foundation - Unix. And they failed too. They put an awkward GUI lipstick on that beautiful Unix operating system, with a lot, a LOT of bugs!?
Again: the reason for all of this is that throughout the decades and decades, the wrong people were put on the wrong jobs. Nowadays VERY small percentage of educated people work on software systems development. There are no computer scientists, computer engineers, electrical engineers, software engineers anymore working for those companies like Apple. Throughout the decades of mis-management they had been replaced by all sorts of inadequate occupations: sociologists, psychologists, English majors, shoe salesmen, even Preachers .
And the result we see: a never ending stream of stupidities like this one. If chimpanzees had spent all this time, all these intangible and tanglible investments, on creating operating systems I assure you they would do a MUCH better job than these dilletants

  • My iPhone 5 Battery Drains Too Quickly! Apps closed, bluetooth off, brightness, low, no notifications...What else can I do?

My iPhone 5 battery life is terrible! The software is updated--ios 7.0.6. I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day on some days. I have to close all apps, turn off location services, turn off bluetooth, turn off 90% of my notifications, lower the screeen brightness to less than 10-15%, and turn off all push notifications--all to get my battery to last until 6:00pm.
I may talk on the phone 10-20 minutes a day, but check emails on my phone a few times in 10 hours. I am indoors most of the day so cold temperatures aren't at play (although if I do use my phone in the cold (less than 25 degrees), the battery drains within minutes!) If I leave  my Camera, Facebook, Maps, or the Weather Channel open in the background, my battery will go from 100% to 20% in less than 2 hours.
I have been to the Genius Bar more than once. They replaced the battery about a year ago becasue it was bad. I returned a few weeks ago to have them checked my battery again and it tested fine. The Genius I spoke with wiped my phone and removed all data on it and reset it. Unfortunately, the problem has not been solved.
Has anyone had similar problems? How did you resolve them?

I set the phone up this morning as a new phone no back up.
    Brightness set to full
    No wifi
    No bluetooth
    No back ground programs running
Fetch every 15 minutes for emails for half the day and then went to manually for second half
3G for half day and 2g for second half
    tethering off
thats all I can think of. My friend and I looked at all his setting and mine and they were both similar except he keeps his on wifi all day.
we put them to exact same spec when i got to his house at 3. I had close to 50% from a full overnight charge and when I left at 7:30 I left dead and His was at 17% left still from the previous day and when I left his was at 8%
    I dont know

  • Battery Dying too fast!

Hello! I have have my curve 9300 for just over a year now and my battery lasts 6 hours tops. I do not have bluetooth on, or any gps on. I have no applications running in the background either. I don't use any social media on my device.
The problem started late Februry, I wondered why isn't my phone holding a charge? I asked my service provider one day and they said I needed a new battery. They charged my phone for half an hour and it was fixed! My phone could go for 3 days without needing a charge.
Now it's back to its old habits! At school I will have it turned off and it will be dead at the end of the day. I need a solution! I've tried removing my battery and SIM card, nothing seems to help, and I don't understand why it was fine for 3 weeks after telus charged it for me.
Any help other then the obvious tips about background apps running would be much appreciated!!

Have you tried letting it trickle charge and let the iPod charger until theres a plug at the right corner of the screen where the battery is? If that doesn't help, then the battery will have to be replaced ($79 if out of warrenty). http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html

  • Ipod (60 gig) battery dying very quickly

I have a 60 gig ipod (completly full), i use it daily in my car, at work, ect. i have only had it for a few months but it has never had a good battery life and recently it has gotten worse. if you are using it (selecting songs manuly) the battery dies in under 2 1/2 hours. on a playlist 4 to 5 hours. so should i restore my ipod? return it? i refuse to pay $100 for a replacement.
    thanks!!

    Austin,
First off, why would you pay $100 for a replacement? Are you under warranty?
Anyhow, settings like sound check, enabling EQ, or FF or RW through songs can lower battery life. Check out this link and see if it helps...

  • Why is my battery dying so quickly since the most recent update???

Ever since I updated my phone yesterday my battery in my iPhone 4 which usually lasts 24 hours without needing a charge only lasts 4 hrs at most. What happened?? How can it be fixed? Very frustrating

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • HT4623 Iphone 5 battery discharging too quicklu

Iphone 5 battery discharging too quickly, even with wifi, bluetooth and location services off. The battery is only lasting about 6 hours.  How can i check what is causing this.  It was lasting about 24 hours before.

Just shared. Turn your brightness To as you can see The page. Turn of icloud if not use it If you just buy this phone. Let the battery totally drain couple of time and fully charge again. It will became great after that.my phone take 2 days to totally drain.awsome. If your location to far away from network transmitter it will became little bit hot at the battery.if you very near to wifi you will feel  your iphone5 it surf like a ferrari + no heat at all.     P/n; dont look at pecentage of your battery. Just take note how many hour until its totally drain.

  • IPhone REALLY HOT today, and battery dying!

I have had no problems with my iPhone 3G since getting it on July 18, however today I noticed that the battery died very quickly since yesterday's charge. After recharging the battery this morning, I was wearing it here at school and noticed that it was really, really hot and the battery was down to 1/2 power after only 3 hours of just standby use. Any suggestions? Could it be an application that I added last night? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!
    Mike

My iPhone3G is doing the same thing periodically. Every other day or so it just eats the battery very quickly while the screen is off, no apps running (i.e. at the home screen before turning the screen off). The phone gets hot to the touch. I've been trying to narrow it down to a specific app that may be corrupting something but no luck so far.
I've restored the phone a number of times with no effect.
Guest Mike, if your still listening, did the reset mentioned fix the problem for you?

  • Zen Xtra 60 GB: battery goes down too quickly, even when inact

Hello, folks, this is my problem with Zen Xtra 60 GB, which I own for more than a year. A week ago I suddenly noticed that the battery is completely down the other morning, after I played music last night for a few hours on AC. So I plugged it to AC again and - differently from the other people's experiences - it started operating and charging. And I could play the music while charging, and manage the tracks with Nomad Explorer as well. After it charged completely, I unplugged it from AC, played a few more tracks and then shut it down. Next morning battery was down again. So I kept experimenting a few days in a row: charged it completely, played a few tracks, shut it down... and next morning all from the beginning again. I also tried continuous playing on battery, after it was fully charged - the playing time is also decreased.
I guess, my battery is damaged (or some settings on my player are wrong? - which seems unlikely to me). So how can I get the battery replacement? Or can I use some other type of battery? If so, what should I know when choosing the other battery?
    Many thanks,
    jetlag

SSR, your advice was helpful - I was able to access rescue mode. Before that, I thought of this operation as of "press C while holding Ctrl..." - I always released play/stop button after sticking the reset button, but still too quickly, and then player started in normal mode. It appears, that one should not release play/stop still for a few seconds - until the rescue menu appears. Maybe it would be good to emphasize this moment (not releasing too quickly play/stop after sticking reset) in Catherina's instructions about accessing rescue mode?
But this did not solve my problem!
I charged the battery fully, upgraded the firmware to the latest, and did cleanup. The player rebuilt my library. I played two tracks and turned the player off. After 2 hours, turned it on - battery was drained off again.
Then I charged the battery again, removed the battery and put aside. After 24 hours reseated battery, turned the player on - the battery proudly showed all three bars! Then played one track and turned the player off, and after 3 hours turned on. The battery remained with one bar only. And after 8 hours, it was, of course, empty...
So oh, what can I do? My player is more than one year, so out of warranty. And have no idea, who could repair it here in Lithuania, anyway.
Should I buy Xtra with 30 Gb (cheapest option), and then do harddisc transplantation, to save my 35 Gb of music? (Don't tell me about backups - almost all my music is also on CDs, or on my PC - it just was too long and tedious process, to upload all that to the player, and then rename and organize tracks there...)
