Battery does not charge after rescue & recovery

Hi,
Yesterday I set up my computer fresh from the preload on the harddrive due to slowness, instabilities, inability to use VPN etc. After the reinstallation of OS and securiy updates, my battery does not charge anymore. The battery indicator on the front panel keeps blinking, and the Lenovo message center reports that irrepairable damage has been done to the battery and that it must be replaced.
My battery is not among the recalls by Lenovo.
Any idea if there's any option but buying a new battery? It just does not seem right that the battery is unusable after new OS setup.
Cheers, Thorbjorn

  • Satellite L500-14X - Battery does not charge after upgrade to Win 8

    HI,
after upgrating my laptop to Win 8 the battery stops charging...
the message says..."pluged but not charging"....
    Any suggestion........exept to reinstall win7...??

    Hi
Usually there is no big difference between the Win 7 and Win 8 so I really dont understand why this battery issue should be related to Win 8.
In my opinion its not Win 8 problem and I think even if you would install Win 7, this issue would not be solved
    Try this:
Disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery
Now leave the notebook disconnected for a longer period of time (10 hours)
Then press and hold power button 30 sec long and then connect both parts.
The Ac adaptor should be connected for a longer period of time to allow the system to pre-charge the Battery

  • MBA battery does not charge when connected. Help!

My MBA battery does not charge when connected to the charger. Ive checked the other threads and followed advice but nothing seems to help.. My battery health info is good, I've tried cleaning the magnetic pins of the charger, reset smc but it still does not charge. The light on the charger is green or does not come on sometimes, and it's the same for a few Power outlets. What else can I do? Would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks.

It recognizes the charger intermittently. After cleaning, it showed the charger as connected but not charging the battery. I will try my friends charger later to see if it works. Thanks for your help!

  • My Ipad battery does not charge

    Hi everyone,
Hope some of you can help me out. My IPad battery gone flat and it does not charge. I tried different sockets, different chargers, tried to plug in to pc and charge it but to no avail. Could be that it needs new battery? I this Ipad for 2 years now.

    May need a new battery.
Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Battery Icon Shows "18% available (plugged in, charging)" But Battery Does Not Charge

The PC does operate on the battery only, just fine (so far, as there is only 18% remaining).
The PC operates with AC plugged in also.
LED by AC input is amber (looks orange to me).
According to the User Guide that indicates charging.
    Battery Check status is "OK"
I have had it on charge for over 12 hours and still at 18%.
When starting up, the battery icon shows charging movement then stops at a low level.
I measured the charger output at 20VDC (no load). Which is as specified.
I have tried all the suggestions about uninstalling and reinstalling  the ACPI Complient Control Method.......etc.
Removing battery, shutting down and all the rest of suggestions.
    No help.
I was told there was a BIOS update which I installed. (I'll post about that in another board). No help.
If I ever get this fixed it's going back to the vendor, Should not have this happen with less than 3 months since new.
Just got it back from repair for battery latch falling off. (Back plate was changed.)
    Anything new would be appreciated.

battery is not charged after using all of my battery. what's wrong? is it about charge machine or my computer?

Of course it isn't — you've just drained it. Plug your AC adapter in and charge it up again.

  • Is there a settings in Win7/HP feature that the battery does not charge until it is under 95%

I just purchased a HP Pavilion dv6-7043cl laptop and have noticed that the battery does not charge unless it is below 95%.  I am very concercerned because I had a different laptop from a different manufacturer where I had battery issues.  That manufacturer was not helpful and I will never buy from them again.
I have heard good things about HP which is why I decided to buy this particular machine.  However,  I have only had this machine for 3 days and now this is starting.  I cannot find a Win 7 (I am running Win 7 home premuim 64 bit) setting that controls when the battery starts to charge.  Is this a function of the HP Power Manager?  Is this a feature of the battery HP ships with their laptops?  Or is this indicating a problem with this machine?   I am a college student and I need a reliable laptop for school.
Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    HanNan

    Hi,
This feature is intended by design in order to reduce unecessary charge/recharge cycles - reference to this can be found in the 5th paragragh in the document below.

  • Battery does not charge when asleep

Ever since I upgraded to Tiger my PowerBook battery does not charge when it is asleep and the display is closed. It only charges when the computer is active and display is up. Anyone else experiencing this? Solutions/work arounds??

Hi, Donald. Try resetting your Power Manager, and you might also trash the preference file com.apple.PowerManagement.plist. If you trash the pref file, be sure to restart and reset your preferred Energy Saver settings afterward.

  • Battery does not charge,why ?

the battery does not charge any longer...why ?

Your battery may be completely dead — but even a dead battery will usually accept a tiny charge, even if it only powers the computer for a minute or two afterward.
Your AC adapter may have failed. If you have access to another adapter, test with that and see whether it charges the battery. If it does, try all the steps in this article to see whether your own adapter will revive:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713
The charging system inside your MBP may have failed. If you have no luck with the above, take your machine to an Apple Store Genius Bar for testing:

    Hi
Please dont use any batteries which are not 100% compatible with your notebook!
This can damage motherboard and other 3rd notebook parts.
As far as I know the A100 is a one of the newest Toshiba series and the warranty should be valid.
For me it sounds a little bit like a motherboards power supply electronic fault.
Who knows ?:| The notebook check is necessary to locate the malfunction.
So dont waste the time and contact immediately the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
They technicians should check the notebook and should provide a help.
    Good luck

  • My battery does not charge, the battery is okay but no charging functionality

i have a g60 laptop, I think it is US120 model, It should be registered to me.  When the AC charger is on it does not detect it and the battery does not charge.  The battery got lower and lower and now it will not start.  It also will not run without the batter in it and without charge in the battery.  Any ideas_?

It sounds like your adaptor may have died.  Here is a link that you can find information for troubleshooting your adaptor.

  • W530 battery does not charge

    Hi,
I have just got a new W530 (2436CTO) with the battery (70+?), BIOS ver is 1.07. The battery does not charge even I plugged in the AC. The battery status is ok and charging on the power control panel, but there is no estimated charging time and the level has been at 4%. I have changed all types of battery control profiles but that does not work. I have even followed another fellow's example and updated in the display card, but that does not work either. I have updated every possible thing except for the BIOS of the laptop, which requires a fully charged battery to update. I hope someone who has similar experience can give me some pointers.
    Thanks!

    'afternoon.
the 70-series battery is correct for your machine. since it's new, i would call Service:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=PD008370 and ask them if they'll send you a replacement battery.
if a new battery fails to charge, then it could be something amiss with the charging circuitry in the laptop, but best to take one step at a time.
    regards.

  • Battery does not charge

I use an HP Pavillion G with an AMD processor. At a certain point, my battery stopped charging. I had previoulsy upgraded the computer to Windows 8. While still using the Windows 8 OS, the battery issue emerged. The taskbar said the batter is plugged in but not charging. I read some forums and took some advice to reset the battery and to release its charge. No luck. I also read that a BIOS update from HP could help this issue. My computer wouldn't boot after the BIOS update. I was able to use the recovery system to return the computer to its original Windows 7 settings (silver lining). I thought this could potentially solve the problem. No dice. I tried the same solutions that I used originally - still no luck. Now, the taskbar displays the same graphic indicating that the battery is not charging, but when I move my mouse over it, it reads "plugged in and charging." The battery is not charging, however.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your continued help.
Indeed, the battery is closer to a year and a half old. Nonetheless, I haven't experienced something like this with other products, which is what leads me to think there may be a computer-related issue - that, coupled with the connection with Windows 8/8.1. I could very well need a new battery; I am just trying to exhaust options prior to making that purchase and I appreciate your help walking me through these stages.
I did have the HP utility center installed on my computer. It needed an upgrade, so I took care of that. The assistant claims that the battery is charged 100% - this is not confirmed if I unplug the AC adapter. When I ran the battery check, it gives me this message:

  • Battery does not charge, IdeaPad B590, call center is dead

At 23th December, 2013, the battery of my sons IdeaPad B59 notebook went Wrong. It does not charge. The lates update of the Lenovo softwares are installed, but it gives error messages.
I tried to call the local service center, but it does not answer.  After 10-15 minutes of the mucic from the call center pfone (tried today several times!) I give up.
Does it exist ANY working contact with the local (Hungary, Budapest) Lenovo service people?
I bought the IdeaPad B590 laptop on 24.07.2013 in Budapest, and have a  (possibly) valid warranty for it.
    Any prompt solution?
