Battery does not seem to charge

When I plug my iPod into my computer, it says that it is charging. Meanwhile, it really isn't. However, when I plug it into any other computer, it works perfectly fine. Is something on my computer preventing my iPod from charging?

I would say it is the laptop's problem. The USB por son some just do not provide enough curent to show the iPd charging when the screen is on.  Does it charge over time afer the iPod goes to sleep?

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

  • Battery does not have any charge

Hi I have a brand new Envy notebook 17-j131na running Windows 8.1 and the battery does not seem to be charging. It powers up with the AC power plugged in but when I put the curser on the battery icon which has got a red cross through it.
It comes up as plugged in and charging. I have had the power plugged in for quite a few hours and the notebook turned off and the notebook would not switch on with only the battery plugged in. I have done a bettery check and it says HP battery check unable to access battery. Has anyone got any ideas.

    Hi,
Try the insructions from this link:
    Troubleshooting the notebook battery
If that doesnt help then try performing a calibration:
Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8)
After that also if battery is not getting detected then it'll be hardware problem..most likely the battery needs to be replaced.
The warranty of the battery is always one year from the date of purchase. If still within one year then call tech support and they will be able to get it replaced for you. Make a note of the error messages when the tests are run.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Battery life seems short or the battery does not hold a charge, seems to drain quickly or does not last as long as expected.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

IMPORTANT Notes while charging your Reader device:
It is recommended to charge the Reader using the supplied AC Adapter. When using the AC adapter to charge your Reader device, the lightning bolt symbol that appears next to the battery icon [FIG. 1] on the display of your Reader device is an indication that it is connected to AC power and is charging the battery properly. If the lightning bolt symbol is not present, double check the AC Adapter to ensure that your Reader device is properly connected. This symbol does not appear while charging via a USB connection.
If you charge via a USB connection and leave your Reader Digital Book connected to the computer to charge and the computer goes into sleep/hibernation, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off. If left connected, your battery may begin to discharge. To avoid this, turn off any sleep/hibernation settings while charging or set your sleep or hibernation settings to come on after your Reader Digital Book has been charged and then disconnect it from the computer once charging has completed.
It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.
If your Reader Digital Book is left connected to a powered USB hub while the computer is shut down, your battery may begin to discharge. Disconnect your Reader from the hub when the computer is not powered on.
Always verify that your Reader is fully charged by disconnecting it from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged
On a full charge, the battery has the capability of up to 7,500 continuous page turns. Actual battery life will vary based on usage patterns, settings and battery conditions. When the Reader is turned on, off, or a page is marked, battery power is used, thus lowering the expected battery life.
NOTE: When storing the Reader for a long period of time, use the Device Shutdown feature in the Advanced settings menu. After using Device Shutdown, it may take approximately 30 seconds for the Reader to start the next time the Reader is turned on.
Playing audio will reduce the battery life. If you did not start audio play back intentionally, confirm audio is not playing. You will not hear playback unless headphones are connected. Audio playback will continue until it is stopped by turning it off from the Now Playing menu. To see if audio is playing, press the HOME button and then press the OPTION button. If Now Playing is displayed in the dialogue box that appears, tap Now Playing and this will take you to the song that is playing. Press the Pause button to stop playback of that song and then press the HOME button.
    NOTES:
Due to the nature of the E Ink electronic display technology, the LCD can retain an image without having power. Turning the page is the only time power is consumed. If the Reader's power is drained, the LCD will retain the last image that was displayed, thus making it appear like the Reader is frozen and in some instances it will not have enough power to perform other operations such as turning on or off.
Battery life can be affected by operating temperatures below 41 degrees F, lack of use, or if the battery has not been given enough time to fully charge.
As with any battery, if the Reader is stored for an extended period of time, the battery will discharge on it's own. Therefore, it may be necessary to charge the battery prior to use.
If the Reader has not been used for an extended period of time, repeatedly charging and discharging will improve the efficiency of the battery.
If the battery life still seems short, the battery may need to be replaced.

  • Battery does not take full charge?

My 12" iBook does not seem to be taking a full charge, When I drain the battery and set the iBook to charge it only charges to about 20% and then jumps to 100% and the power ring turns green. Is there a way to "recondition" the battery or should I look into buying a new one? My stats programs says the battery has used 62 cycles and has 69% life left in it.

How old is the battery? The average lifespan of a lithium-ion battery is two to three years.
According to Apple, "A properly maintained PowerBook or iBook battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 300 full charge and discharge cycles."
Apple makes no mention of the fact that the age of the battery is a consideration, no matter the number of cycles you have used. If the battery is more than two years old, you probably need to buy a new one.

  • New iBook battery does not seem to be charging

    Hi
Just put a new battery (non original) into my 300mhz ibook. Charged it overnight then ran it completly out to calibrtate. Second charge the same but only indicated 16% charge but still lasted around 3 hours. Now have charged again overnight and the battery seems to be holding zero charge, i.e if I unplug the power cable the ibook goes straight off. My connector is showing orange as if it is charging.
I have tried doing a PMU reset via the reset button and started using the pram reset.
I am running 10.1.5 at the moment on it.
I bought the battery from a ebay power seller in china and am dreading having to arrange a return.
    Any suggestions
    Thanks
    Dave

Sounds like a bad battery and reseller. I would return for refund if possible and buy a new battery from some place more reliable.
I have had good luck with:

Batterys have a a limited life and if the are several years old they can go bad even if never used.

  • New Ipod Nano, does not seem to charge

    Hello,
I just bought IPOD NANO (4GB, gen2). The store guy told to drain the battery and then fully charge it. Well, I played some song and soon all the charge were gone.
I had a LOGiiX wall charger for my old IPOD (20GB), and I wanted to use it to charge it. Initially there were no responds. Then I changed the cable (I wanted to use my old cable but it did not work, so I used the new one that came with Nano) and it started to charge. It got fully charged.
Now after while of playing music I wanted to see what went wrong and wanted to charge again (it has been played for a while and so it should at least show me that its charging again, no?). But none of the cable worked with the wall charger (LOGiiX). The wall charger has a green light (LED) in it and it goes to red when its charges. But the green light stayed green and no charging in Nano.
I tried with a computer, and it shows the symbol of "Fully Charged". But its not fully charged, I played couple of songs. Is there something wrong? Should I take it back to the store and exchange?
    thanks guys
    Mashrur

I don't know why the store guy told you that, it wasn't necessary (there's such a lot of rubbish talked about the iPod battery).
See this : iPod battery doesn't charge.
As it's so new, if nothing is helping you should consider getting it exchanged.

  • Hi, I am going to university soon and my MacBook battery does not seem to last very long! This is what it tells me but I am not very sure what it means Model Name:     MacBook   Model Identifier:     MacBook5,2   Processor Name:     Intel Core 2 Duo Proce

Also, my computar has not been updated recenetly so will the update wipe the memory off my laptop? Thank you

You can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 and 2010 White Unibodies use the same A1185 battery.

  • New(?) battery does not hold a charge.

I purchased my G4 iBook used. The battery percentage reads 95% full, but after disconnecting the power, it only lasts about 5 minutes until it is dead.
But the battery appears "new". Here is what the profiler says:
It is an Apple OEM battery.
    Battery Information:
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 2729
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 2867
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 43
    Condition: Good
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 16631
I don't know much of what this means, any help is appreciated!

So then the problem is the transfer of charge from the power source to the battery within the machine's power management unit. Sometimes resetting it can help:

If it doesn't then, you need to take the machine in to service.

  • HT4060 ipad does not seem to be charge.  has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery photo remains...cannot turn on or off... only low battery photo and apple symbol or blank page appear

ipad does not seem to be charging.  Has been plugged in for about 5 hours and low battery icon remains same...alternates with apple symbol or blank page.  cannot turn ipad on or off

The iPod Touch kept trying to reboot yesterday but would only show the Apple logo screen then shut off - it finally drained the battery overnight I am guessing. Connected to USB the battery charging icon flashes.
Took it back to Best Buy, but they wouldn't touch it or replace it since it's under warranty.
To any potential buyers - beware. My best advice is to look somewhere besides Apple. Every Mac user I know has had to return a Mac, laptop, etc. Really poor quality control, and the retailers agree (Geek Squad told me they have had the same experience with Apple products).

  • My new Iphone's battery does not hold charge for long; do you have the same problem?

Greetings, I had a new iphone 4S -  bought March 2013, died suddenly September 2013. Iphone replaced by a new one, which seemed to work fine. Suddenly, noticed three days ago that the battery does not hold, even for one day, even with very little use. Charged battery yesterday morning, as it was dead, used phone a few times during the day, still had half batery full at bed time; this morning there was no battery at all - had discharged completely overnight doing nothing. Has anyone had this problem?
It means that I will have to travel a long way to the nearest store to have it looked at. Had already done this last September to replace a dead phone. One would have expected better quality and reliability from a Company like Apple.

Sounds like the battery needs replacing.  Bring the phone to Apple for battery diagnostics.

  • MBA battery does not charge when connected. Help!

My MBA battery does not charge when connected to the charger. Ive checked the other threads and followed advice but nothing seems to help.. My battery health info is good, I've tried cleaning the magnetic pins of the charger, reset smc but it still does not charge. The light on the charger is green or does not come on sometimes, and it's the same for a few Power outlets. What else can I do? Would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks.

It recognizes the charger intermittently. After cleaning, it showed the charger as connected but not charging the battery. I will try my friends charger later to see if it works. Thanks for your help!
