Battery doesn't finish

i reported a problem earlier in a previous post about my defective battery, as i said, it used to drain by itself after shutting down, and it only lasts maybe 45mins max.
Well, the problem now is the battery doesn't seem to finish, i've been using it for days now, and it stays 100%. Nothing much happened since my previous problem, except, i dropped the laptop once when it was in its protective bag, and the case got dented a little bit in the corner, the other thing is i travelled to a very cold country.
I am not upset that the battery doesn't finish, but why doesn't everything have to be weird, it either drains, or doesn't finish, can we like find a medium?

Go to an Apple Store and ask to have your battery tested.

  • Macbook battery doesn't recalibrate, won't finish charging.

Hi guys. I have a black macbook which I have had for almost exactly two years now. Beginning some time a week ago, I noticed that the battery would not finish charging. It will say "Calculating" or "Finishing Charge" for hours. I have left it plugged in in this state overnight and throughout the next day, and it didn't seem to finish the charge. I tried to leave the notebook on and running while the battery drained to recalibrate it, and when I plugged it back in, it hopped right back to life (rather than go through the slightly longer restart process it often does after recalibrating) and it still won't completely charge.
Coconut battery, on the other hand, seems to think that the battery is at 100% charge. It also says that the battery is charging at the bottom of the window.
Do you guys have any idea what's going on?

You may start seeing more strange behaviors, such as the computer shutting off long before the charge indicator says it should.
Will this cause harm? There is the possibility that the abrupt shutdowns would corrupt the directory on your hard drive, which would prevent the computer from booting properly.
If I was in your place, I'd continue using the computer as-is until the abrupt shutdowns start occurring or the capacity plummets. Keep your data backed up, just in case!

  • HP Laptop battery doesn't give even 5 min of backup.

    Hi,
My HP Laptop with Core 2 Duo has a problem. The battery doesn't seem to give any back up at all. so i need to keep the power cord on, whenever i use the laptop. The guarantee period is over and i do not know how much the battery is gonna cost. Please advice.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Aldrin.

Just buy a new one. Battery wont last long.
Buying new battery from HP would be the best choice but third party one would not be so bad.

  • I just got an iPod touch, it was fine with battery life before I added Apps but now the battery doesn't last more than a night, what should I do?

I just got an ipod touch from my sister yesterday which she has had since October. The battery life went for days with her but as soon as I started checking my email and adding apps the battery doesn't last more than a couple of hours. I deleted some apps but no change. I also kept my email logged in and my notifications turned on so I'm wondering if they are part of the problem. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you so much.

Yes, notifications are part of the problem.  For more information look at at the previous posts on this problem.  Yu can find some of those on the right hand side of this page under the heading: More Like This.  I keep mine in airplane mode when asleep.

  • Battery Doesn't Last The Day!!!!!

    Hello everyone,
I just purchased my Blackberry Pearl 8130 not even a week ago and the only thing bugging me right now is the fact that the battery doesn't even last a day. I left it for 6 hrs without touching it and the battery went down 40%!!!!
I am just wondering if this is a common thing with this phone, I mean I know the phone does alot, and I know it is constantly sending and recieving data or at least mine seems to be. I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the battery life! I mean when I first purchased the phone I let the battery run out and then charged it I am not charging it when it is half full, the battery is always dead when I charge it.
Also MSN messenger doesn't seem to be working either I am getting an error 67 failure to reach server....anyone else having this issue???
    Sincerely,
    Kat

Turn off the gps, if you have gps on the phone and turn off bluetooth, if you're not using it. That will help some. If this continues, go to your provider and ask them who to talk to about battery replacement. Occasionally, a battery just doesn't live up to its charge. Also, you should recharge these types of batteries when they are a little less than half way drained. They are better suited for this type of charging. Only drain completely maybe once a month or so. Hope that helps some. Sam

  • ITunes 10.5 sync doesn't finish iPhone 4S 5.0.1

When syncing my iPhone 4S 16GB 5.0.1 with itunes 10.5 using a Macbook Pro 10.7.2 it freezes at the last step 7 of 7. I had the same problem with iOs 5.0 and the update didn't change a thing. iTunes is still accesible, but it doesn't finish the sync. All I can do is deconnect the iPhone in the Devices of iTunes, but it give a warning that it is still syncing. When I check the iPhone and iTunes, everything seems to be ok and purchases and apps are either downloaded on the iPhone or iTunes. On the iPhone there is still the little wheel turning to indicate the sync and in iTunes there is the same little wheel next to the iPhone in Devices. Any idea anybody??

I'm experiencing this problem for the first time - frustratingly, while upgrading to a "new" (hand-me-down) 32GB 4G - on OSX 10.6.8. This phone has the iOS 5.0.1 update installed, I'm trying to restore my old phone's data from backup. All the data appears to be there up to mid-October (from looking at text messages), but the sync wasn't finishing. I hit "cancel," and now the cancel isn't finishing. I'm gonna leave it overnight, but I'm not expecting it to finish.

  • Win 7 (Sony Vaio) Battery Doesn't Charge

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB11FM notebook with Win 7 64 and suddenly the battery doesn't charge. During shutdown, Win 7 was installing updates and before it was done it went off.
After that Win 7 doesn't recognize the ac adapter plugged in and the battery doesn't charge.
The updates downloaded are not running or installing.
I have tested the ac adapter and battery on a laptop exactly like my one. And it worked just fine.
There are no updates available for battery from manufacturer.
The charging light is off when i plug the ac adapter.
The laptop works without battery, but plugged in ac adapter.

    Hi
I've had a number battery problems to do with rapid
discharging and not charging properly - the batery was nearly new and previously had 3 hours life before an update ... Sony Support
have been worse than useless ... In case it helps (given that your problems started after your Windows 7 update) - my
problem was not the physical battery (or BIOS or drivers or a number of other things I checked) but the Sony VAIO battery management software which stopped working after I installed the 64-bit Windows 7 update Service Pack 1 (SP1).
There may be no harm in just trying to re-install the Sony VAIO Battery Checker software - it worked for me ... To do this, run
the VAIO Care Recovery and Restore programme (from the start menu), use the Recovery option  - Reinstall Applications and Drivers – and re-install the Battery Checker
    (tick the check box option).
    Hope this helps :)
Here's the full detail of what happened to me in case others have similar problems:
Warning to all 64-bit Windows 7 users:  Do NOT install Windows 7 SP1 !!!!!   If you do and
the Sony VAIO battery management software ruins your battery, Sony Support won't replace it but blame Microsoft instead.
After I installed the Windows 7 update for SP1 my battery performance died - the battery would
discharge from 100% to zero in only 52 minutes
(it was nearly 3 hours before installing SP1).  In a specific timed test for Sony Support the battery took 47 minutes to discharge to 50% and then rapidly discharged from 50% to zero in the following 4 minutes.  In
all tests I performed the machine did not ‘turn off’ but crashed as if the battery had been ripped out, prompting a safe-start by windows each time.  From zero charge, the battery was re-charging to 100% charge in about 20 minutes.
Sony Support were useless, so I started to read many technical discussion forums online and found that hundreds of Sony users
have the same problem with battery performance with no solution.  Many discussions online have led back to a wrong idea: that the Microsoft Windows system drivers –
    battc.sys and
compbatt.sys – used for Microsoft Composite Battery management are too old to be 64-bit versions.  This idea is because the Microsoft driver information
displayed in the Device Manager window shows a driver date of 21/06/2006, before Windows 7 64-bit was deployed.  However the actual hidden driver files in the Windows System folder (version 6.1.7) are dated 14/07/2009 and are indeed 64-bit versions.
I found this after I spent hours looking for new versions of the drivers and when I couldn’t find any mention, let alone new versions, I then checked the actual file properties myself and discovered the Microsoft drivers are fine (even though there is
a Microsoft Windows 7 error displaying the date using Device Manager).  Similarly, a number of people have updated their BIOS with no change to the problem (so I'm leaving that alone).
I then investigated other ideas – and eventually checked that the version of VAIO Power Management and Battery Checker
VAIO (part of the Sony Notebook Utilities exe) for my machine (VPCEB3C5E).  The latest versions I could see online (Sony sites) all appear to be the same versions as those already installed on my machine.
However, I tried one final, simple action and it fixed my machine:
I used the VAIO Care Recovery and Restore programme
    (from the
    start menu),
selected the Recovery option – Reinstall Applications
and Drivers – and re-installed the Battery Checker (check box option).
This fixed the problems with the battery management
where the machine suddenly crashes without adequate warning when the battery is discharging. The
battery now shows a steady discharge from 100% down to zero (remember, before it discharged quickly down to 50% and then from 50% to zero in the last 4 minutes). It also charges back up at a steady (safe) rate rather than rapidly.
Unfortunately, my battery is now damaged but Sony Support do not want to know.  In
the several weeks while the Sony software was not working properly the battery had been rapidly re-charged, over-charged and is now damaged.
The previous battery life of over 2.5 hours in normal use (let alone test conditions
doing nothing) has been reduced to less than an hour since the 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 installation.
     Things
cannot still be fully correct with the Sony battery management software because the
    battery health status in the
VAIO Control Centre is still displaying
    GOOD.
So Sony Support will not replace the battery, even though previously they contradicted themselves by saying I had to run industry standard tests - now when the tests show the battery is faulty Sony then go back to relying on
software that was the cause of the problem.  Unbelievable !!!
Moreover, the Sony European Support guy escalated my case (5568077) and the response he got was this is a Windows 7 issue and
not a Sony problem ... Therefore, should I ask Microsoft for a new Sony battery even though it was the Sony software at fault?  Even more unbelievable by Sony !!!!!!
So, all Sony VAIO Users - don't install Windows 7 SP1 and expect Sony Support to help.
Most of all - when the Sony VAIO battery management software ruins your battery, don't expect Sony to replace
    it.
And now for a bit of a rant to make me feel better ... This was the first time I've bought a Sony - I've had dozens
of Dells over the years but thought I'd try a VAIO for a change ... Given my recent experience guess what my next machine will be?  Sony may be making a small financial loss since the Tsunami and online PSP gaming / hacker problems, but with service like
this their VAIO losses will also be significant in the future - Sony just don't get that customers pay for and expect service when we buy a machine ... Idiots!
    Cheers RB, England

  • 9320 battery doesn't charge properly

I have a .month and a half old 9320 and the Battery doesn't charge properly and is clearly alto. How do I et a replacement sent out?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Typically, this would be a warranty issue...and your warranty is serviced by whoever you agreed that to be when you purchased your device. Normally, that's the original place of purchase (which might also be your mobile service provider) or an authorized service center -- it varies by region, so check your original purchase documentation for your specific warranty provisions as well as methods of exercising it. Keep in mind that BlackBerry provides no first level support for anything...including warranty...all support starts with other parties, who can escalate to BlackBerry if needed.
    Good luck!

  • Hp5530 doesn't finish print job

I have two computers, a win7 laptop and a win8.1 desktop. My 5530 is set up as a wifi printer and is next to my Linksys wireless router.  Both printers wil print to the printer but often the print job doesn't finish -  stopping in the middle of a page.  The problem seems to be evolving in that for a few months the problem only showed up when printing from the win 8.1 computer.  Now it happens with both computers, more and more often.  I've reinstalled the drivers on both computers with no change in outcome.  Please help.

    Hello domeguy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some issues with the Wireless connection.
I do have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to resolve this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that you have the router more than 4' from the printer and less than 20'.  This will be the range that you need to have the printer from the router to ensure a solid connection.  If the Printer less than 4' from the router and will not be detected.
I have another suggestion. Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor on both computers.  Let me know if you see any error codes or messages.
The last link I have for you deals with when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Lion Disk Utility doesn't finish erase

Since installing Lion (clean install) disk utility doesn’t finish erasing or partitioning external disks. I used the disk utility from the install drive to erase the internal drive before installing Lion, this worked fine, but ever since it failed to erase any of my external drives. It starts of as normal but the progress bar stops half way and just never finish. Disk Utility does respond.
I tried different format options, repair and verify but none of the processes finish.
I went back to the install drive that I used to erase the internal drive before Lion install and it also didn’t want to finish.
I copied the old disk utility from Snow Leopard to my desktop, it opens with a warning, but gives the same outcome.
    Any advice?

I'm having the same problem on my late 2010 Air with Lion installed over Snow Leopard.
I've tried several usb memory drives and several external harddrives...all the same problem with the progress bar getting stuck halfway. wether I select 'partition' or 'erase'.
the 'genius' at the mac store told me that he advises a clean install of Lion. I did...or I thought I did but all my files were still in place and the problem was still there. Guess I will have to wipe the drive first.
Also, unable to repair permissions on the MAC drive.
But it is remarkable how few people seem to experience this problem thus far. A google search hardly returns any results.

  • My battery doesn't charge very well anymore, can i get a new one/

my battery doesn't charge very well, can i get and install a new battery?

Your post say "my battery doesn't charge very well",
Does it goes to full charge after 4 hours, or 1 hour, a battery that goes to full charge in 1 hour, is a dying battery, as it be totally flat in 20 mins. So if you can get your battery fully charge then monitor how long it takes to discharge playing music (36 hours) or video (6 hours)
That will be a measure of the health of your battery, compared to iPod tech Spec.
If your battery can't be fully charged
Are you charging it off a wall charger or via a PC?
Can you try charging via a high power USB 2.0 port, on most Computer there are some low power USB port, that don't have enough juice to charge a high drain device like the iPod.
And it is a NoNO to try charging via a USB Hub or the Mac Keyboard USB port, these do not have the power.
    Have a nice day!

  • Compressor doesn't finish

I export a QT reference file like usual and then have Compressor convert it to whatever (FLV, Mp4, etc) and now it gets pretty much all the way done and just hangs there. It has been like this for about a month now.
The QT reference plays fine so no problem there.
It almost finishes and then doesn't advance and anymore and I cannot stop it. I have reset the background processes and that fixes the problem of canceling but no matter what format I try to convert to in Compressor it doesn't finish.
I can export directly from Final Cut Pro without a problem. The thing is I want to use Compressor...anyone know why this is?

Does clearing the associated QMaster cache help at all? To get there, type /var/spool/QMaster once you go to Go > Go to Folder in the Finder.
Or does this happen for only one particular QT reference movie? If that's the case, then Compressor/QMaster might simply not be fond the the referenced render or media files (what can I say, it's a cranky problem with poor social skills.) Sometimes, re-rendering the troublesome section(s) - or exporting self-contained - fixes those issues.

  • Photocast doesn't finish uploading

I have a photocast that is a smart album. The first time I publish it, everything goes well. When I try to update the album, it goes through everything until the progress circle is almost finished, and then it doesn't finish.
I've looked to see if it is still uploading anything, but there is no upload activity on my computer at that point. My current solution is to unpublish and republish the photocast each time, but I'd rather find a better solution.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it because it is a smart album?
    Sky

    That memory should suffice indeed.
If you are lucky, the print products store can still print your original book from the copy on their server. they keep the uploaded file for reference for a month or so.
You have screened all pages of the book, if there are no photos missing? And you have reentered your billing information, not just checked it?
The system status for the print Products is shown as o.k. at http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/
Check, if you accidentally have turned on restrictions in the settings:
    Settings>General>Restrictions
Check the region settings for the iPad, if the country is set to the country of the delivery address for the book.
    Trouble shoot the iPad:
Reset the iPad  by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider.

  • Mkinitcpio command doesn't finish

    Just did a pacman there and the /sbin/mkinitcpio -k 2.6.23-ARCH -c /etc/mkinitcpio.conf -g /boot/kernel26.img command
doesn't finish: it takes forever to do the :: Parsing hook [autodetect] part. So I killed pacman and re-did pacman -Syu.
It finished this time. And I tried the command again on its own - the problem is still there.
anybody else seen this? I'm afaid to do a reboot now.....

My upgrade to mkinitcpio 0.5.17-1 completed without a hitch.  Now the system hangs when I reboot.  Booting the fallback image works ok.
I suspect there is something in my /etc/rc.conf that the new mkinitcpio doesn't like.  I haven't figured out what yet.
UPDATE:  When I removed "@alsa" from the DAEMONS= line of my /etc/rc.conf file, the machine boots the default image just fine.  The funny thing is sound still works even without the alsa daemon.
I hope this steers you in a useful direction.

this is the error I have in my domain.log (it's in spanish but i will try to translate):

How do I identify the process that is generating this problem? Because the process I deployed doesn't use file adapters but maybe it can be generated by one of the process called by the one I deployed and that I built previously using the "obant" comand.
