Battery doesn't recharge when 95% or above

Hello everyone,
I recently got a new MacBook Air 1.6Ghz standard configuration. I noticed that if I unplug the AC adapter when the battery is fully charged and replug the notebook when the battery is say 95% I get a green light and the menu bar says the battery is fully charged although the percentage is 95%.
The battery only starts recharging when it is anywhere below 95%. I am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem? or is this normal cause this is my first mac?

Since you're new to Macs, here is some helpful info, if you are concerned about the battery.
Go to Finder>Go Menu>Utilities>System Profiler. Click on Power, and it should show you the state of the battery, among other things. The battery should retain 80% capacity after 300 charge cycles, or for at least one year. If the percentage drops below 80% in that time, and it is still under warranty (please, do yourself a favor, and buy AppleCare, if you haven't already!) Apple will replace it at no charge.

Lately when I plug the recharge cable to my Macbook it often happens the batter won't recharge. It is plugged to power source but the LED on the cable is not showing recharge and finder say something like "plugged in but not recharging". I have to replug the cable to make it start recharging.

You may have a bad battery or problem with charging circuit. Take it to an Apple store or AASP.

Hi,
I would like to know how to turn off battery recharge when on a plane.
Every time I plug it in, the power goes down because recharging the battery consumes too much power for the outlet on the Boeing 747.
Previously I would just take the battery out of my laptop. Obvioulsy that is not possible anymore on a MacBook Pro!

I agree it's an interesting problem, but I believe it is technically possible. The man page for 'pmset' has this tantalasing clue:
Certain Apple battery calibration tools may temporarily disable battery charging, even though your Apple portable is plugged into AC power. Such tools will never surprise you with this behavior; you will know it's happening. This state will be reflected in an additional line of output to 'batt' or 'ps' readings, including the pid of the app inducing this behavior.
'ChargeInhibit': 1432
Changing the power assertion of 'ChargeInhibit' from 0 to 1 can therefore be done programmatically. However, no Terminal or AppleScript tricks are going to work for this one - it loooks like it's something that needs to be written in Cocoa.
That leads to two suggestions, both of them a bit woolly I'm afraid:
1. Try asking over on the Apple Developers forum (where the cocoa programmers hang out)
2. Try searching for one of those 'battery calibration tools' mentioned above, or a 3rd party battery management app. I did try a couple of searches, but didn't turn up anything promising. Maybe you'll have better luck.

I've never seen the Migration Assistant resume from sleep - for that matter I've never seen a computer go to sleep while MA was running. (If there's a next time, don't try this without the computer being plugged in.) You will probably have no choice but quit the migration and start over.

I use the battery like this (the people from the apple store where i bought my notebook said it was ok like this):
-durring the week i use my battery every day till it deplets arround 5 % then i recharge it (when prompted with the recgarge message). Then when i get home i plugg my machine and weight till its fully charged, then i use it plugged with the charger.
-In the weekend i keep my machine plugged in with the charger

HP ENVY dv6t-7300 QUAD: Battery Drains when Shut Down & Doesn't Charge when Battery life is 93%

My HP ENVY dv6t-7300 QUAD had battery discharge when I left it off for a few days on, so far, three occasions:
The battery fully discharged to 0% from 100% when the laptop was left off for a peroid of two weeks
The battery discharged to 95% from 100% when left off for a seperate period of three days
The battery discharged to 94% from 100% when left off for a seperate peroid of four days
These three instances did NOT come consecutively.
When the laptop is left off for one day though, the battery life is at 98% or 99%.
On all occasians, the computer was shut down from the settings tab and NOT put into sleep mode or hibernate mode.
The other issue is that on two different occasions the laptop says that the battery is not charging when the battery life is > 93%. So far, I have not seen this problem appear when the laptop was below 93% battery.
This problem is intermittent. The first time it happened, the laptop began to charge at 93% battery life and continuted to sucessfully charge until today (8/11/2013). Currently, the battery life is at 97% and the battery will not charge.
I have performed a start-up battery test and the result displayed on the start-up screen is:
Battery Check: Primary-OK (1)
The result from the HP Battery Check from the Desktop Screen says:
Status: OK (0)
Charge Capacity: 97%
This screen also says that the battery is:
Charged (97%)
Current: 0mA
Full Charge Capacity: 5458mAh
Remaining Capacity: 5319mAh
Failure ID: OK
There is also one other interesting thing about this laptop:
When HP Searches for Drivers for my laptopr, the driver detection program detects that I have an HP ENVY dv6-7398ca, not a dv6t-7300 QUAD like it states under the battery compartment.
I have had this laptop since abour June 20, 2013 and I believe the warrenty is still good on the parts.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix these problems, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Satellite Pro P100 - Battery fails to recharge

Hi.
I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro P100, a refurbished model, which I got 2 years ago.
It has worked fine ever since I got it, but I went overseas for a month and left my laptop at home.
When I returned I found that the laptop battery won't recharge.
The battery power indicator on my desktop says 0% and it requires constant connection to the mains to work.
I've looked through the manuals, all they tell you is that a flashing orange light means low battery, but not what to do if it doesn't change.
I also looked online, but they don't help either.
What I want to know is whether there is a way to fix my battery or if I need to buy another.

It looks like battery fault.
But check the battery connection firstly.
Remove the battery and after short time connect it again.
If this will not help then you should replace the battery and should test the notebook using new battery.

Battery Doesn't Last The Day!!!!!

Hello everyone,
I just purchased my Blackberry Pearl 8130 not even a week ago and the only thing bugging me right now is the fact that the battery doesn't even last a day. I left it for 6 hrs without touching it and the battery went down 40%!!!!
I am just wondering if this is a common thing with this phone, I mean I know the phone does alot, and I know it is constantly sending and recieving data or at least mine seems to be. I just want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the battery life! I mean when I first purchased the phone I let the battery run out and then charged it I am not charging it when it is half full, the battery is always dead when I charge it.
Also MSN messenger doesn't seem to be working either I am getting an error 67 failure to reach server....anyone else having this issue???

Turn off the gps, if you have gps on the phone and turn off bluetooth, if you're not using it. That will help some. If this continues, go to your provider and ask them who to talk to about battery replacement. Occasionally, a battery just doesn't live up to its charge. Also, you should recharge these types of batteries when they are a little less than half way drained. They are better suited for this type of charging. Only drain completely maybe once a month or so. I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

ThinkPad E455 Battery Reduced to 80% when Power Off in One Week

Previously, I have a problem with my relatively new ThinkPad E455 battery. The battery drains when the laptop is powered off (see https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/ThinkPad-E455-Excessive-Battery-Drains-When-Power-Off/m-p/2105732 ). I have updated my BIOS and power manager to overcome the problem.
Recently, I was on a holiday and I turned off my laptop for one week. Before I turned off my laptop, the battery gauge shows 100% of battery capacity. Today, when I turn on my laptop, the battery gauge shows 80% of battery capacity, even though I did not use the laptop for seven consecutive days. The power drains is not as excessive as the previous one as I described in https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/ThinkPad-E455-Excessive-Battery-Drains-When-Power-Off/m-p/2105732 but this problem really bothers me. Is there something wrong with the battery? Or perhaps some other configuration? FYI, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.

I am considering to remove the built-in battery (ThinkPad E455 only has one battery, and it is built-in), but the user manual says that the battery removal should be done by a technician. I am afraid that removing the battery myself can cause a damage and violating the warranty (my laptop is less than 6 months old). If there is a user manual or videos or anything helpful about removing the built-in battery for ThinkPad E455, perhaps I will try it.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
