  • Iphone 4s battery wont charge. Wokeup yesterday morning and battery had not charged past 1%.. when i took it off charger it lasted all day.. died this evening and now NO charges will turn my phone on it staying in charging mode

    - when i try to remove my iphone from the charger it immediately says it needs to be plugged in.. its been on 3 different charges for over an hour and it is currently connected to my laptop.. nothings happening yet.

Backup the iPhone to your computer via iTunes. Reset it to factory (complete reset in settings -> general menu). DO NOT RESTORE it just yet. Do a complete charge on it and see if this fixes it. If not, it is a hardware fault and needs to be fixed.

    Hi there 8472kck!
I have some information for you that can help you troubleshoot this issue a little further. That information can be found right here:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • IPhone 6 plus will not charge past 1%

    Hi,
I recently started to have problems with my 6+. It will not charge past 1% it says it charging (lightning bolt). I have tried lots of different chargers no change.
I have done a system restore still the same. It will turn on for abit then turn off after about 10 mins then just show the battery charging at 3 red bars.
Took it to my local storm front store and they said take it to an apple store which is around a 120 mile round trip.
    Anyone else had this problem.
    Thanks.

    sounds like a defect battery

  • "Battery Is Not Charging" message

Hey all: I am brand new to the Mac world, and have a week old MBP 15 2.4 GHz with 2 Gig ram. I have been using the machine constantly since I got it on 4 days ago. Other than a few minutes here or there (or when in sleep mode traveling from home to office), the machine has always been run with the power adapter.
Today the % charge displayed on the battery icon has hovered around 55%, and when I click on the battery icon, it says "Battery is not Charging." Nevertheless, the green light is ON at the magnetic plug.
What is going on, and how do I deal with it.
    Thanks,
    EnerSal

The problem got worse and worse. The battery icon would say 90% charged with a run time of 4 plus hours. I then took the machine to a location where I had no power adapter, and it drained the battery in 15 minutes.
I took it to the Apple store this past weekend for a "genius bar" appointment. The tech looked at it for 90 seconds, declared that the battery was bad, and replaced it. The whole thng ook 5 minutes.
Now I have a battery that charges till full, runs for 4 hours + on a charge, and works great. Problem solved.

  • Logic board fine - battery still not charging

    hi all,
i have a problem with my battery. here is the issue in the short form: my battery is not charging. the green led light is on even when the battery is not fully charged. the computer recognizes that it is plugged into a outlet, but it doesn't charge to one hundred percent. i've checked the outlet, tried different power adapters, and ran a hardware test on the logic board. all have not solved the issue. the logic board is apparently fine according to the test.
to complicate matters further and give you a better understanding of the problem, i'll describe in more detail the issue. when i turn on the computer after it has been shut down or if i unplug the adapter and then plug it back it, the battery charges briefly (and the led changes to orange) for about ten to fifteen seconds, before it stops charging. over the past three weeks since the problem started, i've gotten the battery to go from 44 percent to 76 percent simply with these short ten second bursts of charge. these ten second bursts only happen right after plugging in the ac adapter. once it stops charging, then it stays like that unless you unplug it and then plug it in again.
so guys, this is my issue. i thought that the only issues associated with this problem could be the power source, the ac adapter, the battery, and the logic board. the power source and the adapter are not the problem. neither is the logic board. although i am getting a new battery because of the recall, it was working just fine up until this issue. that is, it was able to be fully charged. i'm stumped and i don't know what to do. i would greatly appreciate anyone's advice. thanks so much.

I'm sorry it took me so long to see you message and I'm also sorry I do not have a solution to your problem which is exactly the same problem I have. I've done very similar things to it and still I have a problem. At this point my 12-inch is sitting idle probably awaiting a large repair bill. I've been dealing with this for over a year and if you look at the past postings on the discussion board you'll find out that more than a couple of people are or have had this power problem. I got my 12-inch G4 in the spring of '03 and a year or so later I begain to have the same power problems you have had. What has not happened to you, but has to me is that it refuses to either charge a new battery or even power-up pluged directly into the wall outlet. I've been hoping that maybe Apple would recognize there is a defect in this series of G4's and do free repairs, but I started turning blue from holding my breath.

  • Macbook 'Battery Is Not Charging'

I have a macbook pro (Mid 2012) and about a week ago the battery was saying it needed servicing, tried SMC reset and didn't work. I replaced the battery this morning with a new one and the battery is reading all good now but my megasafe charger is still an extremely dim green and my mac is saying 'Battery is not Charging.' Tried another SMC reset and also a second charger and still doesn't work.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • MagSafe LED always amber - Battery won't charge past 90%

My 2007 SantaRosa model also suffered from the Navidia 8600 chip failure and I took it in for diagnosis and repair under them unannounced 'recall'. I got it back and all was working just fine... for the first week. It was actually working better than before, and still is except that quite suddenly, the battery has stopped charging all the way up to 99-100%, and the amber light on the MagSafe adapter of the charger will not change to green. Right now the battery will not charge above 90%, and the charger has been attached over-night. The charger is not over-heating as far as my touch can tell, there is no fray in the MagSafeplug, it is clean and it is plugged into a reliable outlet.
Yes, I did do an SMC reset, ran the long version of the Apple Hardware Test from the install disks, and did do a battery recalibration. The Hardware test indicated that there was no problem with the laptop, and as part of the logic board replacement due to the Navidia problem, the Apple techs also had successfully run the full course of diagnostics - no problems indicated.
I have a second battery that I installed and still get the same result - incomplete charging and constant amber LED.
Any of you had this problem or have suggestions of another route to follow in troubleshooting this pain the the rump?? I've Googled this problem to death and not seen a page that mentions a problem where the MBP charger amber light stays on constantly with incomplete battery charging.
Let's see if the collective powers of this forum have the solution! Thanks in advance to all...

and I took it in for diagnosis and repair under them unannounced 'recall'.
Take it back ASAP. If the problems started after the logic board replacement (that's the nVidea fix) then something about the new board or the way it was reassembled is wrong.

  • Battery will not charge. and other issues

Well i'm working on a friend of mines notebook, its a n100 model 0768 12u running windows xp. This is the situation so far. First his hard drive had fried so i replaced that and put the o.s. back on it,but now the battery will not charge. also the wireless network card and dvd drive did not work. I had originally thought that they might have fried as well when the hard drive went down. However I looked through the forums here and found that alot of people solved the battery issue simply by replacing the battery i recommended that. He purchased a replacement battery ( not a genuine lenovo battery, don't know if that makes a difference) and when i put it in the dvd drive and the network card started working no problem. But alas the battery still would not charge. the system runs fine without a battery in it, but if i put the battery in it while its running it turns itself off after about 30 seconds of having the battery in. when the system is powered off and i put the battery in the battery lcd in front blinks 5 times orange then nothing for about 30 seconds then 5 more times. maybe thats a trouble code, don't know, looked all oover the forums and couldn't find anything quite like it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
     thanks
    Steve

    Duck3,
Glad that worked for you!  Thanks for sharing here.
I saw a weird situation on friend's ThinkPad recently - a replacement battery arrived with a 37% charge (not 100% deliberately as somewhere around 40% is the best for shelf life), but it would not accept a charge.   We did a reset by removing the battery & AC and pressing and holding the power button a number of times  (some people say 10 times, some two or three times for a count of 5 or 10).   This drains residual capacitance.
We plugged back in the battery and AC and it began to charge.
Might be worth a try here before he opens it up ....

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

    Hi sanjoyapple,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that it can be concerning when your battery is not functioning as you would expect. There are several steps that I would recommend in this situation to troubleshoot. Troubleshooting the MagSafe adaptor and possibly resetting the SMC would be two of these steps. Please read over the attached article for instructions and more information on troubleshooting batteries.

Hi, Michelle. Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Have you tried resetting the SMC? The SMC (System Management Controller) has control over the charging function, so resetting it may help.
