Battery down after reinstalling WXP on Satellite 2450

Hi all,
that's my first topic and wish to get help on a serious problem i got with my notebook.
So, after reinstalling XP on my Satellite 2450-101, the battery gone down. I did reinstall the common modules , the utilities and the powersaver, but everytime i plug the power in the battery led starts blinking for a moment and after a while it turns green. But if i plug out the power, the notebook shut down.
The battery was working perfectly before that reinstallation.

I tried to reinstall the ACPI and it asks for tvald.sys that i can't find anywhere!!!!
Any help please????

You should not install only some drivers but all if you want to use all Toshiba notebooks features ;)
The visible bar which controls the FN buttons is Toshiba Vista Flashcards.
You can find this utility in the Toshiba Value Added package.
But note; the Common Modules which can be found in the Toshiba Value Added package too must be installed firstly!

Battery down after 15 mins.

My kids (with help from M&D) just bought themselves each a used 14 in. iBook G4. The machines are exactly the same except for a slight difference in RAM and HD size. I installed the OS from the same 10.4 disc the night we bought them.
My son was complaining the first day that his battery wasn't lasting, especially while watching a movie from DVD. So I just performed this test:
I charged both machines to 100%. I put a DVD in each machine. I started the video playing on both and then unplugged the power adapter from both machines at the same time.
Within 10 minutes, one battery (my son's) was down to 60% and within 15 minutes the iBook had shut down. My daughter's, on the other hand, still showed 94% battery life remaining.
I have plugged in the one iBook to recharge it and am hoping this will recalibrate the battery. If it does not, are there some other tricks I should try, or am I looking at calling the dealer and seeing if their 30 day warranty will cover a new battery or perhaps purchasing one myself?

SLow down after reinstalling Win8.1

Hi all!
I have a question. I have had my Acer Aspire T for some reason my Windows 8.1 had a glitch so I had to have it reinstalled which wiped everything off my HD. I was very happy with my computer before this happened, but since it has run very slow and even slower when I downloaded Chrome. Can someone tell me what might have happened and what I can do about it? Thanks.

Intel Core iS processor 4460
2TB HD
8 GBDDR3 Memory

Ok. I don't know anything about Acer Care Center. I doubt if the Acer Care Center would alert you to update your BIOS, but I guess it's possible. The latest BIOS is P11.B3 for our computers. I have two TC-605's and they are running fine on internet both wired and wireless. You should also call Charter to see if they can look at your modem logs.....to see if there is a problem.My cable internet is terrible when it's really hot outside due to the attentuation (and lousy equipment/amplifiers in my area). As soon as it hits 85 degrees outside, it's nothing but trouble. But it works perfectly during the morning and evening hours. Fortunately I have a backup DSL connection. But it could be lots of things going on with your Charter that they will be able to detect by looking at your modem logs/stats. Edit: Charter can see you modem logs when you talk to them on the phone. They don't have to come to your house to see your modem logs. Edit2: Here is the BIOS FAQ link. Satellite A105-s4344 shuts down after EXACTLY 60 seconds. The mobo has been removed from bezels and all un-needed devices removed (DVD, HDD, WiFI etc.). Swapped CPU and RAM with known good ones. Swapped AC adapter and battery with known good. Does the same on AC or DC only inputs.
I have not yet flashed the BIOS (with 60 seconds this would be foolish). But, I am looking into replacing or reflashing with an EEPROM burner. Currently has V 2.0
I am not sure what genration heat detecting this system uses, but it is a possible cause if it is one of the later generations (visit http://www.topbits.com/how-to-monitor-cpu-temperature.html if you do not know that I am refering to).
Prior to reballing the north and south bridge, and flashing I figured I would get some input from you folks. Just to cover all bases ;)

I am not technician but here just my opinion about all this. The fact is that after switching your notebook ON CPU in just few seconds reaches very high temperature. You can switch your notebook ON and just enter BIOS settings and the same should happen again.
I cannot say for sure if this is 100% thermal issue or not but what else can be responsible for switching off? CPU will be hot in few seconds only. Material change structure with temperature change and I can just imagine some contact will be interrupted.
On this forum we had many similar reports like when cold notebook starts and runs well but after short time switches off for no reason. Maybe I am wrong but for me it sounds like thermal or bad contacts issue. Lets see what other people have to say about it.

My battery lifetime at my MacBook Pro Mid 2009 is down after 1 hour!

Mac Book Pro Mid 2009, running with Mountain Lion is down after 1 hour! I already replaced it with a new one, but same problem. There is also a warning to control the battery. SMC and PRAM reset done. Nothing helps. From time to time, the remaining time jumps from almost clear (20%) up tu 80%! And the process to calculate this time needs much time. Can anybody help me? I don't recommend you to restore a Time Machine backup because the same problem will appear if there's a software issue. First, install Mountain Lion without restoring the backup and check that the battery works correctly

But... This can happen if the phone has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...

When running on battery power, my MBP shuts down after 30 mins..please help

this has been happening for the last two weeks; whenever i run my MBP on battery, it goes blank/shuts down after about 30 mins...would start back on, but shut down even before the login screen comes! i checked the battery display under the laptop-it showed 3 green lights!! TIA!! i bought my MBP off the apple website last september!

With your symptoms, most likely, yes. If you have a 17" MBP, you are out of spec (based on Apple's specification of 80% health for 300 cycles). If you have a 15" MBP, you're in spec (84% health), but your symptoms indicate a problem (i.e. a defective battery). So, contact AppleCare!
You can't calibrate now. I asked because if a battery goes too long (150-220 cycles) without calibration, the "sudden loss of power" can result.

Graham, that's why I inquired about calibration, but with the OP's cycle count, that's not the issue. Also, FYI the "battery condition" information is part of System Profiler with Leopard; the OP lists Tiger, and did post all the information available under Tiger.

Yours would not appear to be a US model. We need the Part Number for your laptop, like PSAG8U-05K02C. You can find this on the Toshiba label on the bottom of your laptop. As well, what country was it originally purchased in. In addition, what is your operating system version, like Windows Vista 32bit?

Make sure your headphone plug is pushed all the way into the connecton until no silver is showing. You will hear a click and feel it snap all the way in.

Believe me; its not easy to say exactly why the BSOD appears.
Generally it happens because of the serious software malfunction or hardware fault.
Did you use the OS from the Toshiba image?
There message says something about sysaudio.sys.
This file is a system audio WDM filter process and its a part of Windows OS. It controls the hardware like printer or graphic card on a lower level.
Note: The virus uses such files as a camouflage. You should use always a anti virus application.
Furthermore you have suggested that the notebook shuts down after 5 min.
Well, this sounds like a overheating issue. How did you use the notebook? You should know that the free space around the notebook is very important because of the air circulation. The ventilators should be also free.
I you use the notebook in the right position and this will happen again so I would recommend asking the Toshiba service partner for the help. They should check the notebook.

11mo old laptop simply shuts down when running on battery power after only 5-10min after unplugging.
- Battery gauge shows fully-chaged when I unplug it
- No "low battery" warning or advice to plug in is given; it simply shuts off
If I try to turn it back on after it shuts down it will not power back on unless I plug the laptop back into the charger.
This never happens when plugged in to charger.
I know battery life can diminsh over time, but this came on all of a sudden; battery life was good (several hours) up until very recently. Now it just shuts down after a few minutes.

Laptop batteries can and do suddenly go bad. If one or two cells die, they can actually leach power from the other cells. The Smart chip inside the battery can actually go bad and shut the battery down even if the cells have power. The warranty on the battery is (usually) one year and if yours is 11 months old you can likely get HP to ship a new battery to you without returning the whole machine to them.

Satellite P30 shuts down after some mins

I have a Satellite P30 which is several months old. already I have had to restore the system after a crash and now the laptop powers down after 10 or 15 mins use. It doesn't seem to get excessively hot. has anyone had a similar experince and how did you resolve it.

I have the exact same problem, and i think it might be dust in the cooling system, but i cant find any dokumentation on how to open up the computer to clean it. So if someone know how to split an P30....

I've tried to alter the toshiba power management settings but they wont work any ideas ?

Does the notebook shut down automatically without showing any error messages?
This could be caused by an overheating issue!
How old is your notebook and did you clean the cooling ventilators in the past?
If not I would recommend doing this.
To clean the ventilators you could use the compressed air spray which can be purchased in most computer stores.
The problem is that the dust and debris inside the notebook prevents the cooling modules from properly working and therefore the temperature increases to the higher level. This leads to the automatically shuts downs.
In my opinion the fans cleaning could helps to solve this issue.

if you are subscribed to the Hardwell podcast... quickly open the Podcast app and delete the most recent Hardwell podcast from 3/22.
for some reason that's causing the crash. i've deleted and it works fine again.
