Battery drain during hibernation (T500 & WIN7 x64)

I have a problem with battery draining during the hibernation. In 8h I lose about 5% of battery.
Hybrid sleep is turned off.
Any suggestions?

sir, disable wake up on lan in bios.
On my miserable T400 ,hibernating with 100% power, it was draining  approx 7% and the Lenovo support  stuff were not
able to point me to that , insisting that battery drain was a normal phenomenon with even what they thmselves were
stuck with.
 Well, knowledge is power.

  • Iphone 6 battery drain during standby

Hello.  So I've had an IPhone 6 for several months now which is still under warranty.  A few days ago, I noticed that the battery was draining at a much faster rate than usual, even on standby.  I think the rate at which the battery drains during standby is the same as when I'm actually using it, but I'm not sure.  I thought at first that it was related to IOS version, so I upgraded from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3.  No change.  As of now I'm running 8.2, but I'm still seeing high battery drain.  On standby, the battery drains at a rate of ~10%/hour, meaning I can't take it to work without bringing my adapter too.  While charging, I've also noticed an unusual amount of heat.
Another strange thing I've noticed is that, unless I use portrait lock, some apps like Safari will immediately go to landscape mode even if I'm not holding it horizontally, and rotating the phone doesn't fix it.  Both of these issues persisted even after I updated IOS, hard rebooted, turned on/off, and did full resets.  I also tried signing out of ICloud, but that doesn't seem to have changed anything.
Anyone else suffer these problems?  Will probably have the phone looked at later this week.

I Agreed to post an update after the installation of 8.2 .. I have to say that the battery life has shown a major improvement after the update.  I also discovered what was causing the Home & Lock screen drain.  I went to settings and disable "HAND OFF" it was causing my battery to deplete at a rapid pace. However , I have to ammit that the battery performance still remained better after the update even with Hand Off running in the background.

  • Battery drained during hibernation, stuck.

My Macbook Unibody (Mid-2010) had its battery drained during hibernation.  I plugged it into the charger and the charger light turned on, and the grey start-up page went up as usual with the apple logo and the loading bars underneath.  However, the laptop has not finished loading and it's been more than an hour now.  I tried closing the lid, and the hibernation light went on, but the apple logo still had its light and it still did not finish loading.
    What do I do?
(This macbook is still on Snow Leopard)

  • MB Battery drain during sleep

I have a MacBook IntelDuo (not 2) that I just purchased in October.
I noticed that the battery still drains during sleep. If I put the computer to sleep for 4 hours, it drops by about 15% - 20%.
I had a iBook (white g3 500mhz) and I could put it to sleep for days without the battery barely draining at all.... espeically in OS9 (over a week unplugged and asleep and had 25% battery left). Once I switched to OSX the battery drained a bit faster.
Drain is expected, but this seems like a much bigger drain than older systems. What could still be running when it's asleep?

When you put it to sleep, do you notice a steady white light? If so, then only your display is sleeping.
You can change sleep settings in System Preferences > Energy Saver.
Your battery will drain if only your display is sleeping. Your computer is still on if you see the light.

  • Excessive battery drain during talk time?

I know that the iPhone 4s and its battery drain has been discussed here infinitum...I myself have been reading all the threads for the past week and trying various fixes before doing a full restore and setting my phone up as new.  However, I am still experiencing what would seem to be an excessive drain ONLY during talk time.
My standby time runs close to the specs, my wi-fi and 3G web surfing are not up to specs but certainly no bad shakes and better than most.
Still, my battery depletes 1% every 2 minutes while I talk.
Does anyone experience this issue or know why it might occur? I will say that I use Verizon and we do not often have a strong connection where I live.  2-3 bars max.  Could this be the culprit?

Yes, signal strength is the culprit. The phone uses 10 times as much power at 1 bar as it does at 5 bars (Not just the iPhone; all phones do). Reason: The lower the signal strength the higher the output power from the phone. So the phone's transmitter can safely connect at 50 mw with 5 bars, but for the weakest signal it goes up to 600 mw (and the phone gets hot). In between it uses an inbetween amount of power. At 5 bars it should go down 1% for every 4 1/2 minutes.

  • Battery drained during sleep

My new 13'' MBA seems to use quite some battery power during sleep -much more than I experienced with my 15''MBP.
I am used to never shutting down my Macbooks, but simply close the lid to put it to sleep. Usually, I find the battery to be less than I left, but today I found the battery to be fully drained.
Am I missing something with the power settings? Doesn't the 30 day stand by time refer to "shutting down the lid" and preserving battery life for days?

    Hi
Have you applied the Firmware update? If so, try resetting the PRAM.

  • Battery draining during stand-by time

Recently my phone's battery life hasn't been as good as it was when I first got it. I haven't been using it any more than I used to, and when I am using it the battery life has been about the same, however I have noticed that when I'm not using it (stand-by) the battery drains like crazy. 10%-15% an hour during stand-by!! Any suggestions on why this could be happening? I just tried the suggestions in previous posts to turn off push notifications, email, all apps, and safari pages and then did a hard re-boot. I'm also in the process of letting the battery completely drain and then I will let it charge to 100%. Other than these suggestions, could there be something else that is wrong?

    Hi there avk111!
I have some articles here that will provide some information about batteries in our iOS devices. These will help you understand a little more about your battery and the way the operating system reports the battery's status. These articles are mostly referencing the batteries installed in iPods instead of iPads, but the advice and information is still relevant to the iPad. The first article I can provide can be found here, and is an FAQ about batteries:
iPod battery frequently asked questions (FAQ)

There is also an article that can help you extend your battery life in your iOS device, and can be found here:

  • Battery drains during sleep!

My almost 2 year old battery for my 15" PB G4 keeps losing its' charge when sleeping. After fully charging, I put it to sleep by closing the lid (and confirming the flashing LED).
A few hours later when on the train, it won't wake up, until I get home and plug it in, only to realize that the battery had drained.
    Here's my coconut:
    Current battery charge 1168
    Max battery charge 3089
    Current battery cap 3089 (70%)
    Original battery cap 4400
    cycles 191
    age 22 mo
Any suggestions? Do I need a new battery?
    Thanks.
    PB 1.67 15 Superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I realize this is an older thread, but I was searching around the forum on this topic because I've been finding that one of my PowerBook batteries has been draining quickly during sleep (on planes, not trains!). I thought you might find my situation similar and informative.
On a more recent thread, I found a couple of suggestions that have led me to believe that my "problem battery" is just plain old. I've looked at the battery info in the System Profiler (under Hardware > Power), and confirmed that fully charged, my battery's capacity is a meager 877 mAh (19% of the original 4400) and it's been through 169 cycles. It's a battery I bought with the PowerBook, so it's over two years old.
Considering the massive drop in capacity, I think it's time for a new battery...

  • MBP A1278 Battery Drain during sleep

So I've been having issues with my Mid 2010 MBP A1278.  I always charge it to 100%, but quickly overnight it drains and in a couple days goes to zero without using it at all.  Does anyone have any tips?  Right now I'm using OS X 10.8.5, but upgading to Mavericks in the next day or two. Below is the notes I made about when I opened and closed the laptops with battery percentages. Is this normal?
    8:12 PM 99% Wednesday
    Then closed lid
7:04 AM 88% Thursday Morning - checked battery for 1 minute
    Then closed lid
9:40 PM 50% Friday Night - checked battery for 1 minute
    Then closed lid
7:46 AM 40% Saturday Morning - started working with WiFi connectivity
    8:19 AM 29% Saturday Morning
    then closed lid

Not much. Mine goes down maybe 1-2% overnight, if anything.

  • Does battery drain during sleep mode?

I've had my MacBook Pro now only about a week.  Just wondering about when not using...if its best to completely power off (though then it may get turned on...turned off once or twice later throughout the day)  ...or leave the power adaptor on it and put the laptop in sleep mode?  Or...what happens when in sleep mode and say the power adaptor is not attached.  Does the computer drain the battery much while in sleepmode?
    thanks...

It's fine to leave it plugged in for normal use. That's what I do, and I suspect many people do as well.
Having said that, Apple does recommend using the battery occasionally:

  • Battery Drain During Sleep

100% battery life when I unplugged my laptop and brought it to work this morning. 5 hours later I pull it out of my backpack and I have 88% battery life. Why?? Reading on here about hard drives not sleeping. Is that the problem?
I've never been thrilled with the battery life (it's a 10/2008 MBP 15") Two weekends ago I didn't use it at all or plug it in. When I opened it, it had put itself in that save/sleep state where it had to "restore" where i last was. In the grayed out screen I could see 78% battery which would have been what it was the last time I had it open. So really? not even opening it for two or three days and it will use up 78% of the battery??
Right now? 78% battery says I'll get 1:55 minutes. sighh

look - I've owned 5 mac laptops from a 540c to my current 2.83Ghz Uni MBP.
NONE of them had this issue - EXCEPT this one.
I could put any of my other machines to sleep with 90% battery and wake them up 2 days later and find them with 86%... this one - if I leave it sleeping overnight with no plug attached, it is DEAD in the morning.
is this going to be just another one of those problems which Apple pretends doesn't exist?
I already had the hinges on my TiBook fall apart and the ATI card on my last MBP (2.16 17") go completely dead... now this - admittedly less serious but still very annoying issue.
I'm waiting for a solution Apple...
but I'm not holding my breath.

  • Battery draining when macbook pro sleeping

When i leave a certain program open and the macbook pro goes to sleep the battry drains to 0%.  When the program is not open the battery holds its charge when sleeping.  Is there anything i can do to prevent this program from runing down the battery?

To anyone claiming that the poster is "wrong" about their Unibody Macbook Pro battery draining during sleep- I would counter that you are the one who is wrong.
I used to have a 2006 Macbook Pro that I could close the lid, let it sleep for several days, open it back up and bingo, plenty of life, nearly unchanged from when I closed it. On my new 2009 Macbook Pro Unibody, if I close the lid and open it back up the next day, the battery is either completely gone and in hibernate mode or I have about 10% left. This is from a full charge!
Yes, I know the machine is actually sleeping because I have the pulsating light. No it isn't any software I'm running because I cloned over the hard drive from the old machine resulting in an identical system and experienced the issue right away. Later, I performed a clean install from Snow Leopard DVD, didn't install any software, and noted the exact same problem.
No it isn't the battery. It is in "normal" condition with over 5200 mAh remaining at full charge.
No it is not from BlueTooth; it is disabled. No it is not from a CD or DVD playing in iTunes, there is none inserted. No it is not from File Sharing or any other sharing; none are enabled. I have eliminated all the variables identified in this article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1776) but still the problem persists.
This is definitely a hardware problem and one that Apple seems to be ignoring. I just can't justify buying another computer from these guys as all indications are that they have abandoned supporting their once core user base, professional media authors, in exchange for teeny-bopper iPod buyers.
Absolutely no acknowledgment of this issue after countless posts on many threads from dissatisfied users verifying the problem is bad customer service and bad public relations.

  • While I was updating my ipod touch to ios 6 the battery got drained during the process, i tried restoring it, it couldnt now my ipod is stuck on the Apple logo screen.

while I was updating my ipod touch to ios 6 the battery got drained during the process, i tried restoring it, it couldnt now my ipod is stuck on the Apple logo screen.
Can anyone help me with this issue???

Connect your iTouch to your PC then open iTunes, if iTunes does not recognize your device, try to hold the SLEEP Button and the HOME button at the same time (iPod Reset) for a couple of seconds until the "Charging Tone sounds, now you should be seeing your device name in the iTunes " Device List". If you do, just click RESTORE and iTunes will automatically restore your iTouch to original set-up and download the iOS6 update.
    Hope this helps..

  • MBA 2013 battery drain quickly during sleep after updated to mavericks

    Hi,
After I updated to mavericks this Tuesday, I noticed the battery drains quickly during sleep mode.
Before the system update, everything was ok. Each night after I closed the lid, it went to sleep and the battery only droped less than 5% after sleep of the whole night.
But during the last two nights after system update, it drained more than 50% of the battery during 8-hour sleep. I could feel some heat on its back when I picked it up. I did not change any system setting or installed any new apps.
my MBA: latest 2013 version, 13 inch, haswell i7, 8G ram, 256 SSD.
I liked my mba so much because of the long battery life. But now It was really annoying because I have to charge it very often.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?

    Hi Hans,
There's another thread going with the same issue as you... check:
MBA mid-2013 wakes from sleep every minute on Mavericks
I still haven't seen a resolution anywhere... smacks of something on Apple's side with so many users complaning
