Battery Draining following Firmare update...FAST!!

After updating my phone with new firmware last week, battery lasted fine on first charge for 2 days. Now if I charge the phone, battery will drain FAST.. down to 50% remaining charge with phone on just stand by, after about 5 hours. If I reboot phone, this stops the fast battery drain, until I charge the phone again, and then the superfast battery drain happens again until reboot. I dont have any apps running, that the reboot would be shutting down, so dont understand. Has anyone else experienced this? I can reboot my phone after every full charge to resolve, but a bit of a pain..

My battery went from about 100% to low battery warnings and shut down after 10 hours of none use. I checked email once. No wifi, good HSDPA coverage. I'm on the most recent update.
I have no clue what causes this, but it happened once or twice with the previous firmware I was on.
With the Arc and android I had this happening due to the facebook app. I installed an app killer and ran autokill on that particular app only which stopped the battery from draining. Wonder if something similar can be the case... That one of my network needing apps gets stuck and runs untill the battery is empty.
Will do the same tomorrow and see if I experience the same.
Have happened once or twice before, so not much, but a bit painful as you never know. I need to rely on this device.

Settings -> General -> Backroung App refresh
Either selectively disable the ones you do not need, or just disable the feature altogether.  Esepcially for apps that would be using location services, this has the potential to be a huge battery drain.
Also, in Privacy under Locations services, system services, disable at least the "popular near me" and "location based iAds" - both of these use location services a lot as they try to track your movements in real time.  You can disable everything in system services if you wish (won't harm anything).

  • Heavy battery drain after OS Update 10.3.1.1779

couple of days ago my phone (Z10) upgraded to new software version 10.3.1.1779. Now the battery barely lasts four to five hours. Usually not more than four. Is this a f****ng joke, Blackberry?!
I checked and I constantly have PIM services at 30-40 %, which is the main battery drainer. Following the suggestions on some of the forums I tried deleting accounts and found one that - being deleted - solves the problem. However, when I add it again it drains the battery again. The point is that i MUST have it on. this is mail only, no calendars, contacts. When I add it I left the phone overnight to download all it needed, 12 hours later PIM services still run at 30-40% all the time.
Reloading the software does not help either.
pls help, I am running out the ideas... I can't keep my phone connected to charger at all times...

  • IPhone 4 Shuts Off repeatedly and battery drains after ios7 update

This morning at 5:20 am, my alarm went off on my iphone like normal, I plugged my 100% battery charged iphone out of its charger and within 30 seconds it turned off. I quickly plugged it back in the charger and it dropped to 41%. Then as I had to start my morning and get to work and take the phone again out of its charger, it died again. So I got to work, and I have put my phone to "charge" while plugged to the charger, but as time passes, instead of charging my battery it looses life, then I recieved a notification to update my phone, which I did however this did not help my phone, it still continues to turn off once I plug the phone  out of the charger.

Same here. My ipad mini used to last weeks, now I can barely get a full day out of it, after I finally updated to ios7. And yes I disabled every possible battery drainer I could find and rebooted. This is clearly to me a bug for the mini, possibly their code that drains batteries on older devices to force people to buy new hardware is running faster than it used to when it would only kill your battery twice as fast, perhaps something else I would hope, but I'm about to hack my device and return to ios 6 as this is absurd. I can put my ipad down for a few hours and pick it up with a 5% drain or overnight with a 70% drain.

Here's what I posted for other forum troopers: please note ***** comment at end
Ok here are my recommendations for your consideration:
Goto the “apple “on your top menu bar. Click 1stoption (About this Mac) a small screen will appear
and click on “More Info...which will take to a large another smallscreen with Mac Book Pro in huge
    l letters like this: MacBookPro.
Next gothe “Systems Report” button: press.
Next Under“Hardware” on the left you'll see “Power” click that.
                      Volia the battery info:
Now lets do a bit of an analysis of the info: here's mine a 2 mo. old 17” MBP:
    ModelInformation:

OK under“Charge Information” you see my MBP currently at 7806mAh (mstands Milli
which is 10 tothe -3 power) which translates to 7.806 Amp hours in non-techiespeak. As you see on mine Full Charge Capacity is 8.488 Amp hours.
Ok under healthyou see my cycle count is 17. Your very low cycle count reflects that you are not “conditioning” your battery by runningit on battery till 5 minute warning or going to sleep and then fullyrecharging it! You've had it ~18 mo.
And your dooming yourbattery to a short life. Condition your battery for a long life.
Please notethis is a super battery 2.131 Amps @ 12.534Volts which
***** Apple says battery charge will last approximately 7 hours. Real world experience is significantly less with Lion OS installed. I get around 4.5 hours.

  • IPhone 3 battery draining since iOS6 update

My husband has an iPhone 3G (not a 3GS) and since I updated it with iOS6, his battery is draining very quickly.  I had the same problem when I had an iPhone 3GS and updated it to iOS4.  I thought my battery draining was because my phone was so old, so I got a new one and then the bug fix came out.  Has anyone heard if there will be a bug fix for battery issues on iOS6?  Any other thoughts as to why his battery is draining so quickly?  I have changed the settings (brightness, no apps running in background, push notifications, etc.) as best I can to make sure it's not using too much battery, but that does not help.

After any OS upgrade on a BB10 device, it will take 48-72 hours for the device data syncing of email, contacts, social apps, etc., to complete and finish. High data transfer after an upgrade cause high processor use, which in turn causes high battery usage. Likewise, high processor use will cause some lag and initial slowness. Ignore and and be patient. It can take the 48 hours for all contacts to sync back to the device. And, the battery will recover after a few days. Just don't drain your battery to 10% or less each time, top off the charge. You'll notice a difference after a couple days. Additionally, look at your Device Manager and in the top pull down menu tap LAST 24 HOURSTap the Battery tab at bottom. What are the top 3-4 processes draining the battery?Tap the CPU tab, what are the top 3-4 processes using the CPU?

  • Battery drain after win10 update

Hi everybody! Recently updated to win10. No major issues so far. My only problem is the battery drainage. According to specifications, my laptop has a 6 hour work time when unplugged. Ever since I updated, my work time has diminished to 3hrs max. I had no problems woth my battery so far, that's why I believe that it has something to do with either Windows or drivers.  I have installed all updates from HP support assistant. I have also tampered with the power saving setting with no success.  Any suggestions? Thank you!!!

  • Lumia 820 battery drain after "Black" update

    Hi all,
Yesterday I finally received the black update on my NL820. After applying the update successfully I charged the phone to %100. Before I went to bed I had:
    Battery at %94
    Wifi - Off
    Data services - Off
    Location services - Off
    Bluetooth - Off
    Battery Saver - On
This morning I wake up and it is unusually bright outside - the phone powered off, the alarm didn't go off and I overslept for work. I haven't touched any other settings after the update. Everything is the way I used it before. What is it that could drain a battery in the space of 8 hours from almost full to power off? I've had this happen on the same phone twice prior to the upgrade as well but then I thought I've forgot data services on or something. This time I'm sure everything was off.
    Please advise.
    Martin

I have been using Lumia 820 since 1 year and have never faced any issues. But after the recent "black" update... my mobile battery drains out within few hours after i charge it 100%. I have to charge it 3-4 times in a day ..
    1. I dont have any GPRS connection.
    2. I use wifi at home (only evenings). The rest of the day.. I use it only for calls and texts.
    3. I have tried hard reset, but that dint help.
    4. After hard reset, I dint update my mobile software.
I charge it till 11pm and when I wake up at 5 am .. I see the mobile is switched off and I cant depend on the alarm to wake me up . That makes me so nervous.
Please bring out some solution to this problem. It is so irritating to charge the mobile for so many times in day.

  • Anyone else have terrible battery drain since the update?

I did the update yesterday morning and right away started to notice battery drain.. Before that I had the best battery of any iphone I've ever had. I have the 5s currently. I changed nothing so there should be no change in my battery usage so the only thing it could be is something with the upgrade. It's probably too early since the update came out to know what the problem is and I guess I should have waited to do it till the bugs were worked out. Other then that I have found no problems. Anyone else having the battery drain problem?

I'm sure there are people who had battery drain after updating to 7.1.1. I'm sure because there are people who posted about it, and you could have found out yourself just be reading the forum or searching it. How does knowing that help you?
I'm also sure there were people who had extra battery drain after updating to 7.1, and to 7.0, and to 6.3, and to 6.2, and to 6.1, and to 6.0, and to 5.4, and to 5.3...all the way down to 1.1. Again, because they posted and said so.
For the record, my battery usage hasn't changed since updating.
You are wrong that the only thing it could be is the upgrade. If it were the upgrade there would be 10,000 or more posts about it already.
However, sometimes the process of upgrading "confuses" some apps, and they run continuously trying to recover. This drains the battery rapidly. To solve the problem take basic troubleshooting steps, and stop once the problem is resolved:
Turn the phone off by holding the SLEEP button until slide to power off appears; wait a few minutes, then turn it back on
Restart iOS by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears (10-15 seconds)
Kill all running apps - double press the HOME button, and flick each screen image up. Then restart the phone again
Restore the phone using iTunes on your computer
Usually one of these will fix it. Post back if none of them work.

    Hello, skypeisawfull-,
Thanks for submitting feedback about the battery life of Skype for Android. The developers of the app are making great strides to improve the functionality and other aspects, including battery life, so that it runs better for its users!
Skype, by nature, does use more battery than many other apps. It should be understood that it has to constantly contact Skype's servers in order to receive incoming call, chat and contact data. You can reduce the amount of battery usage by closing some other apps that you do not use, reducing screen use time, ensuring that you are in areas with good reception (because cell standby greatly reduces battery) and rebooting the phone after a day or two can make a difference in your battery life.
Remember that the development team has surely made it a priority to make the app consume less battery and kill off the bugs that cause that. They probably have more in store, so just you wait and see! Things could be looking good! With you posting this, they'll take notice and probably work to reduce that 26% usage to something lower in later updates!
Thanks for the feedback - keep 'em coming!

  • Quick Fix BATTERY DRAIN - (until the update of course)

I have recently been having problems with my battery on my iPhone 4S like everyone else has. So I decided that I would go to my local Apple store and see what was wrong. They had done a diagnostic test on it and said that my software was corrupted. They told me that to fix this problem I need to sync the iPhone to iTunes and restore and set up as a new iPhone. He emailed me this link showing me step by step on how to fix the problem with out losing anything on my phone. So I tried it out and IT'S FINALLY FIXED! My battery goes down at least one percent every 2/3 hours, giving me that 200 hour stand by time.
    INSTRUCTIONS:
    http://listentotristan.blogspot.com/2011/10/iphone-4s-batterygate-fix.html

One thing that drastically helped me was to shut down all the apps that you are not using.  When you press the 'Home" button and open up different apps, that previously run app does NOT automatically shut down.  It stays running in the background.  To see what apps you have running, simply 'double-tap' on your "Home" button and you will see a 'task manager bar' pop up.  You can scroll through it and even use it to bounce back into an already running app.  To shut down apps that you arent using, simply press and hold on any app that you see in the task manager pop-up (below all the other apps).  You will see 'minus' signs appear next to them.  Tapping this minus will not delete the app, but will just shut it down or quit the app.  It seems that the processor still dedicates power to every app open, even with the screen locked, so periodically just managing your apps and shutting down apps that are not being used will drastically increase battery life.  (You can also power off and power on as well...this will shut down everything too).    Think of it like your computer.....you have 10 programs running in the background and your bound to have performance issues.  I hope this helps....It deffinitely did for me.
