Battery drains from full charge to empty by iteslf

If i charge my mini and dont use it. the battey will discharge itself in a mater of two days. does this mean i need to change the battery or is this some kind of other malfunction, and is this a common problem.

After your mini is charged, how long is it you don't use your iPod?? When iPods are not used for a couple of days they go into something called "deep sleep", iPod's battery does drain a bit even when not in use (I'm not sure why but I use my iPod so much this barely happens to mine). What I do is set my alarm on, it'll turn on the iPod once a day even when I'm not using it and then the iPod turns itself off after no buttons are pressed; just so my iPod won't go into deep sleep

  • Batteries from full charge to zero in 30 seconds

Powerbooks been running fine but yesterday when turned on it started to boot but then went to sleep. Inserted power lead and continued booting - battery had no charge. regarded battery got all four lights on booted again and same thing battery fully drained while booting. down to one light.
Then tried an old battery (which used to last half hour or so) charged (4 lights) took out battery (still 4 lights). boot with power lead in and once running disconnected power supply battery goes from 100% to 0% in 30 seconds.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Thanks for the reply I've reset pmu to see if that helps. old battery which held little charge had a full charge rating of 65515mAh and a mA of -1430 which both seem odd. Any how the newer bat is as follows after pmu reset: (below)
It's not running down as fast as it was but is still dropping quick.
Interestingly (or not) the battery on my mac pros raid card has just started kicking up a charge fault. Wonder if the recent system update may have battery issues in general?

  • Battery drain from Bedside mode

Hi, I've encoutnered battery drain before with programs and OS updates. I've done resets, reboots as well as battery reinserts. My device seems to be stable after 10.3.1. I had WiFi, Network and blend, and power saver on at 5% battery. I wasn't using the phone but just used the Blackberry blend software on other ohter devices to check emails. The battery lasted about 4-5 hours before it finally powered off. When i put the phone with the same options but in Beside Mode and did a lock to clear the active use of the display. Apart from Blackberry Blend being off and showing as such in Quicks ettings. The battery drain went down 97% to 74%. By the device manage the battery went down over 2% every hour in a standby mode, where compared to out of Bedside mode with blend on it was 1% an hour. No programs really stand out as causing drain nothing 10% or more since last charge before I put it into Bedside mode. Even normal standby mode with the screen off the battery drain is less. What could be causing this, anyone heard of sometthing similar.

the battery drain in the Night Mode is also happening to my leap device, with all the apps closed, and even Economic Mode activated. i try to figure out what is happening. I will come back if i find the solution. I am also looking for a Battery Saver app. I had a great app on my previous phone, an Android, but I still look for a similar app for BB10.

  • After IOS 5.0.1 upgrade - Battery drain from 100% down to 78% the following day

I had charged my iphone 4S battery to 100% and my ipad battery to 100% also: both upgrade to 5.0.1, I had plugged it out and I had left it on stand by before I go bed. The following morning I noticed iphone 4S battery down to 78% and my ipad battery down to 99%. Surprised with iPhone 4S battery drain so quickly and where is coming from? I had to re-charged it again thro car charger. Happy with iPad 2 battery.
On iPhone 4S I had turned off all notifications accept Messages, EirText Pro, WhatsApp and Tango . The Location Services is switch to off competely. I have gmail account setting to push to off and manually get the emails. iCloud switch to off.
Is there any advised on the battery issue or is Apple to issue another upgrade 5.0.2 to solved the battery on iPhone 4S?

After two days trying out the problem with my iPhone 4s battery - I had "reset all setting", set up WiFi again and disable all location completely, change the notification list. My Gmail account setting to push to off and manually get the emails. iCloud switch tooff.
I had drain the battery completely until iPhone is dead as requested - I had it off for about ten minutes before re charge fully for overnight. I noticed battery had drain rapidly during day if I use messages and emails.
The next day I had re-charged fully to 100%, then plugged it out and I had left it on stand by before I go bed. The following morning I noticed iphone 4S battery down to 84% the same.
It hadn’t makes any differences or am I missing something…

  • Battery drain and slow charge issues

I had my iPhone 4 replaced at an Apple Store 2 days ago, and this afternoon the battery began draining quickly and charging very slowly.
It also heats up quickly, any help?
    Thanks

If tried techniques to get the battery to act right, such as rebooting by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, and those things haven't helped, take the iPhone and iPad to the Apple store genius bar and have the technicians test them to see if there is a hardware fault.  Do that before the warranty runs out so you are covered.

As you are aware, batteries (no matter what manufacturer) are consumable devices and is only covered for one year (barring any type of abuse).  With your purchase date being in 2007, this would not be covered under your AppleCare extended service plan.
Suggest you make an appointment for your local Apple Genius Bar and they can perform a Battery & Adapter test.  You can always start the process by contacting AppleCare (1.800.APL.CARE) and log down your case number after you have completed your discussions with them, so when you get to the Genius Bar, it will save you time.  At that point they will be able to determine if the battery is defective and commence the replacement process.  Include your case number in the notes section of your Genius Bar appointment form.  This tests will check your MagSafe adapter and battery at the same time and takes about a couple of minutes if that. Hope this helps guide you through the process.
    Cheers,
    Pete

  • Battery drain from Google maps

Hi, after doing the kit kat update my batt is drained within hrs !, I've noticed google services are using 95% is this caused by the update ? Stamina mode etc is on, can any one help me here Txs

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Sony Mobile Communications would like to provide an update in response to the recently highlighted concerns regarding excessive battery drain on some Xperia models running android 4.4.1 or higher. We have identified that the root cause of this is related to the latest version of Google Play Services (4.4.52).
Until a new version of Google Play Services is provided by Google we urge users to either uninstall the latest update of Google Play Services (might limit use of Google Services like Youtube) or go to Settings > Google (accounts) > Ads > Tick the box for Opt out of interest-based ads, and also disable back up of your data by going to Settings > Backup & reset (Personal) > uncheck the box for “Back up my data.

  • Update my 4 to iOS 7 this afternoon,  battery died in 4 hrs from full charge

after updating the ios, updating all the apps, all while plugged in i made sure all my apps were closed and went to dinner, the battery was at 100% .  at dinner  and while waiting for the table i did a couple facebook posts replies, looked up one search on safari and checked my email once and once only.  i noticed the battery was draining realy fast so i put it away until i got home at which point it was down to 17%.  by the time i got the dogs out to walk and came back 15 mins tops it was at 11% and i didnt even have it in hand.
before the update this battery lasted ALL DAY with more activity including phone calls!!!!!
WHAT's up with this Apple?  this has got to get fixed, its unacceptable that this iOS was put out there with such deplorable battery consumption (no, this is not the omly place you will see concerns about battery life with iOS 7)
i say fix it or give your customers a rollback option.

    i'll try this.  Thanks.
do you recommend those battery Dr. Apps? do they even work?
    - this is the thing, i dont do anything crazy; standard stuff like checking emails, responding to txt's; phone calls that last no more than 5-6mins tops. But i've noticed that i used to be able to run all day without issues, and recently (i'd say about a month) i'll use it for 20mins and and i'll see it go from 100% to 65% in a flash... it messes me up for the rest of the day.
even today for example... i saw this reply on my phone and i was at 36%.  by the time i read the post, did all the recommended things in the article; the phone died.  and that took no more than 10mins to do all that.  so i'm stumpped.
never had this problem before, then poof.... and i have 4 iphones; (iphone 5, iphone 4s and 2 iphone 4's) iphone 5 and 4s are on ios7 and have this same problem; the 4's are still on ios 6 and are running like well oiled machines.  i hope this works.
any other suggestions, send them my way. and i'll keep you posted on my end.
    thanks for the help.

  • Battery span after full charge?

After fully charged, i did not use my shuffle but after 3 days, battery is empty again. Is this normal?

    Hello elvin89,
I always want to get the most out of the battery life on my iPod shuffle.  I found an article with a few tips on extending your battery life.  One tip that stood out to me is if the shuffle is turned on, even when not connected to headphones, it can use up the battery power:
    Turn iPod shuffle off
When you're not using iPod shuffle, turn it off instead of pausing. This will keep iPod shuffle from accidentally waking from sleep and playing songs if its buttons are pressed while in a pocket or bag.
I also recommend reviewing the full article:

  • My battery drains from 20% to 0% in seconds

    Hello,
I am having a strange issue with my battery.  for some reason when my battery hits 20% charge remaining i get the warning message saying 20% charge then about 20 seconds later the phone dies.  Any ideas? i have been closing all extraneous apps so as to reduce drain on battery but to no avail.  please help!

    Sparklito

i have done a restore (a pain let me tell you) have restarted multiple times all to no avail.  The basic troubleshooting has all been done the forums were a last resort.

  • Battery drains from 10% to 0% very quickly

I think I'm getting fairly normal battery life but I've noticed on several occasions that when my battery reaches 10%, it drains to 0% very quickly. Far more quickly than normal. Anyone else encountered this? Any ideas as to why? I've let it completely drain and then fully recharged it but that didn't seem to help.

This is one of the many, many issues with "7", unfortunately.
It seems that everyone is seeing increased power consumption, (whether they're aware of it or not). I'm guessing (and this is just an educated guess) that the layering and background position sensing and active icons are all adding to the power consumption of each device.
I'm assuming that Apple, in its infinite wisdom, decided to show off all of these exciting new features, so they enabled everything by default. At least, that's what I would do, if I was a marketing type without technical knowledge...
Perhaps there will be a way to turn some or all of the "eye candy" features off in future updates, but that's more of an UNeducated guess!
As to all of the other issues being reported...well, I wouldn't want to be the employees responsible for going through the messages from their feedback pages.
You're not alone, but that doesn't improve our battery life, I'm afraid.

  • 17" Macbook Pro (2011) battery drains or not charging while using intensive CPU

My brand new 17" MBP (August 2011) has a serious problem: Despite the AC adaptor is plugged in, the battery starts to drain (or is unable to charge if it is lower than 95%) when I ran intensive tasks (like rendering with After FX, convert videos with Compressor or start to play a videogame). I tested it and it happens under Mac OS X and Windows 7 (BootCamp).
I readed some user have the same problem with 15" & 17" MBP 2011 models. But I haven't found any solution.
Anyone knows if this is a hardware or software failure? Do I need to ask Apple for a new machine?
Any help will be welcome. Thanks.

Thanks Retired Engineer, but I don't think it's normal. Well, maybe it is "normal" (or by definition: common) in the 2011 MBP models, but it doesn't means that there is a problem with its design or hardware.
I have an "old" 15" MBP, which I bought in 2007, and since then it never happened to me that the computer is draining or unable to charge the battery while heavy processor intensive processes. I used the exact same softwares and processes in my new 2011 17" MBP, and then is when I detected the problem.
I read on some forums that this is a common issue with 2011 models. I don't know if Apple has an official answer about this or if there is a solution or workaround. Maybe they could simply shipped this machines with a more powerful AC adapter, able to deliver more than 85W, which seems to be not enough.
I will make further investigation about this, because I think it is a serious problem when it is presented in a computer labeled as "Pro", which I understand is designed to be under heavy usage.
