Sudden decline in battery duration?

Purchased macbook pro in October 2007, so i've had it for about six months. Battery regularly held up for about 4-5 hours during school usage (typing, surfing, researching), and nothing heavy. However, just within the past two days i noticed significant drop-off in my battery duration. My battery currently only lasts for about an hour to two hours doing the same things (as indicated by timer on the top right of the screen). Just wanted to know if this regularly occurs for anybody else as well, because it seems quite abnormal to me to lose almost 50% of your battery duration in one day. Other symptoms include: fans spin much faster and louder, cpu heats up quite high. Again, just to emphasize that this is just for light usage.

Is normal my battery duration?

I have just bought the iPhone 5 and I am a bit worried about the duration of my battery.
It takes only 20 or 30 minutes in get the 100%.
Those are my battery statistics:
Usage: 5 hours, 5 minutes. Standby: 5 hours, 55 minutes.
I have been using a bit of all: 3G, WhatsApp, Camera, WiFi, Siri, Location services, and some things more.
Now I have a 21%.
This consumption is normal or I have to send it to Apple?

Yes, the battery is replaceable. To have Apple do it, the cost is 99 USD. You can take it to an Apple store, or if that's not convenient, you can send it to them, but the return shipping cost is an additional 6.95.

I full charge the battery and i can use it , but when i turn it off and i pick it up 4 or 6 hours later the battery is empty.

I have this same problem but only on one or two PC's. I'm not sure if it an XP thing, as the other two PC's I transferred on were Vista and were quick. However, my transfer on XP is at a snails pace. It ****** me off and makes me not want to put anything else on here because I don't have hours on end to wait.
If anyone knows of a fix for this, I'm more than sure all in this thread will be happy!

IPhone 4 battery duration (iOS 6.0.1)

In my daily use, the iPhone 4 only lasts for 6 hours and a half of usage time, until it reaches 0%. Should I buy a new battery?

There are loads of posts about this all over forums. It's an ios6 issue. If your battery was fine before ios6 then I doubt you need to replace it.

I've just got my new macbook pro 13" and i'm worried the battery is not performing as should be expected.
How long are you guys getting out of your macbook pro 13" using photoshop, i think i must only be getting about 2 hours?

What version of Photoshop are you using?
Photoshop CS3 and below would not run nativity on Intel computers and would run in Rosetta which is an emulator. (the emulator would require more power)
Photoshop CS4 finally switched native to Intel, and does not require Rosetta and would be more power efficient.
With any version though, you will not get 7 hours of photshop use as photoshop is very intensive. I've got about 3hrs on my 13" MBP running CS4.

Since ios 6.1 upgrade, less battery duration!

Since the upgrade to iOS 6.1, the battery of my iPhone 4 last less as 8 hours without charging.
I have seen, that the 3G is less stable and that the battery discharge much quicker when there is less or no network (gsm, edge or 3g).
Have you such experience ? What could I do to prevent that without plane (offline) mode ?

i bought my apple i5 last december from malaysiya during my tour. as the instructions were given i charged it for 8 hours. but now i am in sri lanka i see that my apple does not hold its batteries at least a day. but my friend who uses the same phone uses hin batteries for two days. unfortunately we have got no apple store in sri lanka. can u plc help me in this matter. i have an international warrent with me.

Battery Life on two 3G iPhones has dropped dramatically since 3.1 update...

Hello all!
I couldn't find a thread with just this problem, so I thought I would start it. My wife and I both have iPhone 3G 16GB phones and using the same apps as before, our battery life has dropped to less than a day for both of us. I would estimate the change as approximately 1/2 of what it was before the 3.1 update. This is in addition to not getting 10% battery life left warnings (we both still get 20% battery life left warnings) and random shutdowns on both phones. Neither of us has added any apps since update to 3.1, so we're using the phones the same way as before the update. Both updates on the phones went without problems.
The only thing I have noticed is when the battery gets to about 50% left on the icon, it seems to drop very quickly. The battery life has definitely dropped noticably, but this is an apparent symptom of that problem. I guess it is possible that it drains at a faster rate for some reason once it reaches 50% remaining, but I can't prove that. It appears that way however, on the battery icon.
If there are any other threads about this issue, please let me know, and I'll post a +2 phones to that list.

Well, my iPhone 3G too started to loose battery duration and drop just after a 50% usage, but mine has the push activated, even if configured only on the 'manually' option (and I consulted the iCal only one time today, and one time my emails). I started checking with the push set to update every hour (the iPhone lasted 'til 6:30 p.m.), then set it to manual (now the iPhone lasts 'til 8:30 p.m.), while before the update it lasted until 11:30 p.m. at least, with push set to manual, too. Tried deactivating wifi (no changes at all), and have no third-party apps with push option activated, either.
Oh, the 3G signal has full bars strength, so no problems in reception under that point of view.

Experiment: Smartphone battery life and Web 2.0 applications
Objective: To determine the battery life of a Nokia Symbian S60v3 {or ^3} phone under the use of web applications, the majority of which are social networking apps.
Apparatus: Nokia S60v3 FP1 (E90 Communicator, E71, etc) {or ^3 (N8, E7)}, Gravity, Nimbuzz, Nokia Email, Joikuspot, Whatsapp, MXit, BirdStep SmartConnect & Lights On. 3G/GPRS internet connection.
Method:
Install the latest versions of the softwares mentioned, activate Whatsapp (through sms). Use all apps as desired.
With Nokia Email, set sync period for wake/daytime only, i.e. when you are awake - say 06h45 to 22h45, daily.
For Network mode, select dual mode (S60v3: Menu/Tools/Settings/Phone/Network; ^3: Menu/Settings/Connectivity/Network)
At commencement of sleep period (first night), exit all apps. Set your alarm. In the morning, check Log (S60v3: Menu/Log; ^3: Menu/Applications/Tools/Log), scroll across to the list, note all Packet Data connection attempts.
Use applications at will on day two, shutting down/going offline with those you do not require. If the battery gets flat, charge it, continue to use apps/browsers if you can/need.
At commencement of sleep (second night), select go offline for Nokia Email (S60v3: Nokia Email {main menu}/Options/Go Offline), exit all others apps. In the morning, check and note Log parameters.
Repeat steps 4, 5 & 6 with varying Network mode (step 2). In all cases, phone should stay in a non-offline state - people should be able to reach you via phone call or sms at all times.
Make sure you clear browser cache every night prior to bedtime. You should check Browser (Menu/Web/Options/Clear Privacy Data/Clear Cache). Further, remove or disconnect battery to completely freshen the system.
Finally, delete Whatsapp, and repeat step number 4.
Observation:
The results for steps 1 to 8, inclusive, are essentially similar, in that access points (S60v3: Menu/Tools/Settings/Connection/Access Points & Menu/Tools/Sett. wizard, alternatively use your service provider to define access points) are activated throughout the sleep period, as follows (13 July 2011):
Internet .Vodacom(01): 00:38; 00:46; 00:54; 01:03, etc.
Internet.GPRS: 00:37; 00:41; 00:45; 00:49; 00:52; 00:57: 01:00 , etc.

Basically, an app is active throughout the the night. All data connections are outwards, last 5 or 8 seconds, a few last 34 seconds, most receive/transmit zero data, a few receive 1 kB. The final connection was an outward 12 minute 55 second at 05:08 using the Internet.Vodacom access point, sent 65 kB & received 360 kB.
Upon deletion of Whatsapp, no data connection attempt is made throughout the sleep period.
Conclusion: There is no way of turning off completely Whatsapp. Further, general phone use throughout the day disguises minute-by-minute data connection attempts by Whatsapp. This is wholly unacceptable app development in light of limited battery development for all smartphone platforms. All other apps installed on these devices have kill switches if you do not wish to continue use. All other apps, including the pricy Gravity, operate within the limits of the battery technology available and within the capabilities of the Symbian system. I do not think the trade off - all-encompassing IM service over sms sacrificing battery life is fair.
Facts:
BS_Gravity App & BS_Browser are access points defined in the Birdstep SmartConnect Client for Nokia ESeries phones. It's a client that aggregates normal network operator access points as well as Wi-Fi access points so that you do not have to continuously change access points on apps. BS_Gravity App for Gravity and all other social IM apps, BS_Browser for Web browser and Opera browsers.
Following deletion of Whatsapp, my E90 is back to around 4 hours battery duration under heavy use, primarily a very active Gravity & Web browser, up from about an hour with Whatsapp.
I am extremely content with general day to use of my Nokia phones, E90 & N8 alike. The E90 continues great operation, what I'd expect, the N8 covers base primarily browser capability - all other strengths complimentary.
Joikuspot is a considerable power user for extended use, but this is understandable, as the app gathers and transmits data which requires lots of power - basically, it's like having a 3G connection going boths ways. I'd imagine that any similar app on any competing platform saps power.
Recommendation: Install an on/off switch on the Whatsapp application. Please. Thank you.

I found unacceptable issues with the software, namely very high battery use. Many consumers will come to Nokia first before they complain to a developer - if indeed they ever do complain there. Use of the app in question paints Nokia batteries in a much harsher light than reality - people should be aware of this before they install the software.

Is my Iphone 5 battery considered as Normal?

My Iphone battery drop rapidly to me, I don't know if this is normal but it's bother me a lot. It drops from 100% to 20% at a very fast rate, 4 hours of usage and 11 hours of standby! Even though it change very fast, it drops very fast too, I rather my battery take a longer time to change than it dropping so fast. If I go out, I'm always worried if my battery will last until I reach home.
I always set my brightness to around 10%, I don't on push up notification, I don't on Bluetooth and I don't use location services. So is my battery consisderted as draining rapidly?

The Iphone has varried battery duration. It depends what is running and what network you are one. Ehile at school I recomend putting the phone on airplaine mode as this will stop the Iphone from searching for networks.Did you do a full charge (100% to 0%)? On my Iphone it depends what I do. If I play games it heats up more causing faster battery drain. I can usually get a full day of usage (6:00 to 10:00) with some gaming but mainly texting and browsing the web. In some of my friends case they have seen better battery when they updated to IOS 6.1. I have seen better battery to. Vibration on navigation and battery?

I am trying to extend the battery duration, should i get rid of the brief vibration when u navigate the interface?
doesnt it suck battery uselessly?
for example many times when u press the back button etc.

Vibration on the capacitive buttons cannot be disabled. It doesn't use much power.
