Battery efficency problems- fully charged laptop shuts down unplugged HELP

I Have Asus x54H,windows 7 for 2 years now( warranty conveniently just expired) and for month or so,everytime i turn it on after~ 15 min it shuts down by itself.Battery is fully charged, but sometimes when i click on its icon it shows something like 75 %
45 minutes left and 5 minutes later 45min is hour or similar? It's confusing.
When it's plugged in,it warks just fine, but this way it's charging too much (and i may left it charging too long more then few time :/ ) strart up lunch repair can't fix the problem.

it says last time fully charged battery used less then 50% of its full capacity
how do i fix the errors? Anyway avoiding buying new battery?

Some laptops come with battery diagnosis tools (sometimes implemented in bios, sometimes a downloadable tool). This might be able to confirm the suspicion the battery is worn out.
Windows can only show an estimate based on current pc usage and information from the battery. When having high cpu usage, high screen brightness or a lot of non-selfpowered  external devices, battery will drain faster. The taskbar icon attempts to estimate
all of this.
Try to lower you cpu usage and screen brightness and see how long the battery lasts. If it less than an hour I would certainly recommend to purchase a new one.

  • My macbook pro shuts down when I turn it on, its fully charged but shuts down automatically when I turn it on, how do I solve this?

I have the older 2008 version of the Macbook Pro and since Friday when I closed it and opend it again the screen wouldn't come back on and I'd have to press down the power button and restart the machine again completely. Then when I turned it on it would sound like its powering up but after three seconds it would make the bleeping sound and shut down again, its fully charged and I have taken the battery out and put it back in but nothing is changing, is there a way to solve this problem?

Check this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1547 and this one http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2341?viewlocale=en_US
If it sounds like a RAM issue it could be one of the RAM chips has failed. You could try removing the RAM one at a time and see if it starts with one still installed.

I recently purchased Norton stuff and loaded it but dont know how to do all that stuff you said to do.
    okay.
was that Norton Internet Security 2006? if so, right-click on the yellow ticky-Norton thing down in your task bar, and select "Norton Protection Center". click the LiveUpdate button. install everything it says is available at LiveUpdate. restart the PC if it asks you to.
open Norton Protection Center again. click on "Norton AntiVirus". click on "Scans". click on "Run full system scan".
once that's finished, and you've dealt to everything that shows up, do a spyware scan. if you don't have an antispyware program, download and install the free trial version of Ewido, and scan your PC with that.
    ewido anti-malware download
once that's finished, and you've dealt to anything that shows up, go to the Symantec website (they make your Norton), and run one of their online virus scans. they take an eternity, so you may want to do that overnight:
    Symantec Security Check
to do a disk cleanup, go "start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup"
to run chkdsk (that's a disk checking/repair utility in Windows), close all active programs, go into My Computer, right-click on your hard drive, select "properties", click on the "tools" tab, and click the "check now" button.
to do a disk defrag, go "start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragmenter"

  • My laptop shuts down immediately when i unplug the charger

Okay so I got my macbook air laptop about six months ago, so it's relatively new. About a month ago the harddrive inside failed and i took it to the aple store and they replaced the harddrive free of charge since i was still under the year warranty. I lost all my data since i didn't back it up but it worked normally after that. Now, about a month later, I'm having this charging problem. My computer charges very very slowly when its plugged in (i think it charged about 7 percent over like 15 hours), and the second i unplug the charger, the computer shuts down. I tried looking around the internet for solutions and some people with the same problem say they have like a red or black x where the battery is, but nothing looks out of the ordinary on mine except for the fact that it charges so slowly. In all the time that I've had and used it it's only gone fully dead and shut off by itself a few times (what i mean is that, i almost never let it go completely uncharged, when it was low on battery i charged it instead of letting it die). Also, when i unplug the charger, right before my laptop shuts down, i can see that the battery percentage without the cord plugged in is 0 percent even though that makes no sense because when the charger is in it says 85 percent. The only thing i can think of that I've been doing differently on my computer recently is that two days ago i couldn't find the wall piece for my iphone charger so i charged it via the usb port in my computer a few times. I didn't think this would affect my computer though? This could be totally unrelated, but it's the only thing i can think of that's different than usual. Also, the computer works totally fine when the charger is plugged in. I've had this problem for a few days now and i think it's getting worse. When it first started, the computer would only shut down a few minutes after i unplugged the charger, but now it shuts down within seconds of the charger coming out. I'm very hesitant to open the computer up because I'm not the best with computers and I'm afraid I might mess something up inside. If it really is a problem with the battery and it has to be replaced, I guess that's okay because I'm still under warranty, but I'd prefer if i could fix this on my own. Thankyou so much for your help and all answers are appreciated

Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

  • My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2  seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

You may want to try this:
    1. Backup iPad
    2. Setup iPad as new. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
    3. Test iPad thoroughly
    4. If everything is fine, restore backup to iPad

  • Laptop shuts down at "Now Rating System Performance"

    Model number: PSAY3C-04S010
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
I attempted to restore the pre-installed software from the recovery hard disk drive.
Everything went smoothly, reached the screen "Configuring System... 71/71".
Then came the screen "Now Rating System Performance".
The bar would load a bit (maybe around 5%) and the laptop suddenly shuts down without warning.
I have tried turning the laptop back on, starting Windows normally, and it would bring me back to those 2 screens, and the laptop would shut down again at "Now Rating System Performance".
I have tried turning the laptop back on 4 or 5 times now, and the result is always the same. The laptop shuts down at that screen.
    What should I do?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've confirmed the solution after consulting with a few technicians. Huge thanks to them. I'm sharing this here for anyone who might encounter the same problem in the future.
The solution: charge the battery to 100%, then with both the battery fully charged and the AC adaptor plugged in, start the laptop again, and the process should complete without any problems.
What I did wrong was to attempt to do the whole process on AC adaptor alone. I did not use the battery at all. When the performance-rating started, the laptop couldn't draw enough power from the AC adaptor alone, so it shut down automatically. With BOTH the battery and the AC adaptor, the laptop had enough power to finish the entire recovery process.

  • MacBook Pro battery. 98% fully charged

    Hello everybody!
I have a little "problem". I have my MacBook pro connected to the ac almost all the time... I use to charge the battery every 2 days to maintain the battery life excellent. The problem is that every time I turn off the Mac the battery indicates 99% fully charged, 98% fully charged (I didn't experienced less than 98% fully charged).
    What is going on? :-D
    Thanks!
    Andrea

    mali90 wrote:
But.... what the heck is this problem?
There may not be a problem. For example, you can't "top off" a lithium-ion battery. They need to be charged in a very specific way, and a side effect of that is as it gets closer to 100% a charger starts to back off, and when it's close to 100% it may wait until it's down further before finishing it off. See:
    http://batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm
To avoid seeing 99% I changed my battery display from Percent to Time Remaining.
And for what it's worth, I've seen this on Windows laptops too. Makes sense...they use the same type of battery.

  • When I turn on my partially charged iPhone 5, sometimes it will suddenly go to 0% charge and shut down. How do I correct this?

I've had my iPhone 5 for about one year with no problems. Lately however, when I turn on the phone when the battery charge is down to say 25% (due to previous use) sometimes moments after turning the phone on it will go from 25% charged to 0% charged and shut down. Other times after the phone has been on for several hours and the charge level is down to about 10% or so, it will suddenly discharge to 0% rather than gradually going down in increments of 1 or 2% at a time. This appears to happen most often when wi-fi is turned on. Any ideas on what may be causing this? I have installed the latest version of iOS7.
    Thanks

    Hi there brianfromwestmichigan,

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Laptop shuts down when trying to connect

Bought a WRT110, installed software, and everytime the router and the wi-fi on my laptop are turned on, the laptop shuts down and restarts.  Anybody have this problem before?

I have the same problem. I just installed a new WRT160N on the desktop but my Toshiba M35x-S311 shuts down when I switch on the wireless connection. What's going on?

How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)

  • Laptop shutting down? Fan overheating?

    Hi all.
I have read many topics on this forum about the fan on any laptop not working, the laptop overheating or the laptop seemingly randomly shutting down.
I have had this problem for about three months. I tried propping up the laptop so the fan (stupidly positioned on the middle of the base of the laptop!!) could get air. It didn't shut down, but it was ridiculous having to prop my laptop up everywhere I went, and fan was also ridiculously loud.
I took my laptop to a doctor and it turns out there was a fault with the chip on the motherboard that controls the fan. This caused the fan not to work properly, causing overheating, and the laptop shutting down.
I got it fixed and my laptop is now nice and quiet and I don't have to prop it up and it doesn't shut down.
Sorry if this is bad news! Hope you can get your laptops fixed!!
