Battery full - Mac wont start.  Heeeelp!

I just purchased my MacBook a month ago and I love it. Now Im having a problem...
I just had this problem today. The battery is full but my Mac wont start. But when I connect it to the power adaptor - it will start. Should I change something on the Energy saver option?
I've tried to remove the battery and placed it back, but the problem is still the same. I need your help please... thanks in advance.

Yup, looks like you've joined the Macbook Shutdown/won't boot club. Mine did the same after the random shutdown problem. I reset the PMU and NVRAM and PRAM and suddenly it wouldn't boot or operate on battery. Let me guess, it works fine on the adapter, but when you pull the plug it immediately shuts down, right? Even though the battery is fully charged? I'm also from DK. Did you buy yours at Humac? Mine is being repaired as we speak, well actually it's waiting for parts (new logic board and battery) but it's taking forever. Turned it in on july 25th and it is still waiting for parts. My advice is to demand a new one, don't hand it in for repair, because I seriously don't think they know what is wrong yet. What week is your Mac(Check the serial-number and post it)?
I've heard that a lot of people got the LB replaced, but soon after the problems started again.

  • My Mac wont start! what can i do?

My Mac wont start! After i restarted it for a update it just crash when i try to start it what can i do?

What and why aren't people doing something simple that has worked for the last 10 yrs:
Clone your system before you ever apply updates
Always have a working bootable backup (or two)
Keep the prior version on the shelf
Keep the combo updates around also.
It is not hard or rocket science.
There is no mechanism to undo rollback or restore check points. No utility to sandbox updates and revert as they sometimes go wrong. Things that are overdue.
MicroMat made having an "eDrive" partition s sinch to do and was its own recovery/emergency boot partition.
Carbon Copy Cloner has been around since 10.2.2, and later SuperDuper and others, Clone X etc.
A clean install is simple. Keeping your emergency boot drive for maintenance updated but with just Apple OS and essential drivers.
Use Safe Boot beforehand. People used AppleJack before updates or at first freeze or sign of trouble.
If you have more than enough room for TimeMachine, then a couple options:
Set aside 35GB is more than enough for emergency boot maintenance (Lion Recovery is nice but doesn't have everything your toolbox might want or need)...
Set up a partition large enough for your working system, again 40-80GB should be enough, you won't clone everything as you can leave your home account folders for TimeMachine if you want (but do want to copy your home Llibrary ~/Library). perfect job for Carbon Copy Cloner.
Setting up an external boot drive is 101 along with TimeMachine.
Not a good idea to have all your eggs in one basket two or more backup drives is better but...
TimeMachine - 350% your total files and changes needed to have file history archived,
    Emergency OS
    Clone OS
    I prefer a 1.5TB minimum.would do fine for most.

    orshikhfromsc,
boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD that originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro (by holding down the C key as it starts up). When the desktop appears, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and erase your internal disk. After it’s been erased, reformat it. After it’s been reformatted, exit Disk Utility and reïnstall the version of Mac OS X from that DVD onto your internal disk. After that version of Mac OS X has been reïnstalled, boot from your internal disk and run Software Update to get it up-to-date within that version; that should allow you to redownload and reïnstall Mavericks, if  desired. If Mavericks is reïnstalled, run Software Update again to get it up to date.
If you no longer have the two grey installation DVDs, you can purchase a replacement set from either Apple or iFixit.

    HELP!!!!!

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
    Have you-
1- Removed/disconnected all devices, except for keyboard, mouse and monitor?
2- Checked your panic log? You can check the kernel panic log any time that you must force restart your computer, using either the power button, interrupt button, or the Control-Command-power key combination. The kernel panic text is added to the log the next time you restart the computer, assuming that you have not reset PRAM at the same time (the kernel panic text is stored in PRAM until you restart). The file is named "panic.log", and it is located on your startup disk at: /Library/Logs/.
The panic report is also the "script" that is displayed when the "restart your computer" message appears. A copy of the report would help.
3- Tried a "safe boot"? Hold down the "shift" key when starting.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393
4- After checking the panic log, try resetting the PRAM:

when i used disk utility when booting from the install disk im told the  "disk is damaged "  but the repair  utility wont run sand tells me to back up etc....
i cant make a new partition , and i cant make an image
    please help

    I fully agree with BDAqua.
Don't do anything with this Mac until you have an external disk which you can boot your Mac from.
Not all USB disks are easy to boot from - FireWire is better
When you have a suitable empty external disk I advise:
Put install DVD into damaged Mac
partitioning external disk into 2 volumes
install OS onto one volume of external disk
Don't import anything during install process - it may reintroduce historic problems
    Boot external disk
Use finder to copy critical data from Mac to volume of external disk with OS
Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the whole Mac hard disk to the other external volume
Boot into installer DVD and erase Mac's internal disk
Partition internal disk into 2 volumes and install OSs as required

  • Mac wont start if ADC is not Connected??

I have a G4 Quicksilver Dual processor, with Tiger OSX installed on it. The video card installed has a ADC and VGA connector. I recently wanted to change from the ADC monitor to the VGA(new PC Monitor). But when the apple display is not plugged in the computer wont start.
    Why
I have done all the system preference stuff and changing secondary to primary and even swapped video cards with another machine which i know works with the VGA connection.
    Please Help
    Cheers

I do not believe it's the Graphic Card, I think it would need either a new Logic Board or Power supply.
Which card is it exactly, some can run both monitors at once.
And there may be a slight possibility that a Keyboard like this with a "Power Key" at the top right corner may work to start it...

  • Power Failure....Mac wont start... is it PRAM battery??

    please help!!
I have a Power Mac G4 which worked perfectly until last night.
We lost power in my whole town.
now the computer won't start. no chime, no power button light... no disks spining or HD noises...
    I immediately reset the PMU.
    nothing happened.
I read somewhere that you could switch the breaker on the power supply... but I don't know how.
I'm hoping its either a that or I need a new PRAM battery??
on a related note, I have another mac I just upgraded everything on. Logic board, processor, power supply... it won't start up either. though it does make the chime sound and the HD does make noise when I attempt to turn it on. I mention this because I wonder if its the same problem on both machines??
please help!! I'm running out of macs to work on!!! *smacks head*
    thank you so much!!

I read the tutorial and following the advice, was able to detirmine it was a bad power supply! I replaced that and now the first mac works great!! thanks:D
but could I ask you about the other mac?? It was a very old single processor G4. with the amber and green lights in the power and sleep button... It worked fine but super slow and needed help. So I upgraded the logic board and processor and power supply so it is now a dual 500 MHz processor.
It turns on, makes the greeting chime sound and I can hear the parts working inside... the problem is the power light does not turn on and there is no display... I even changed the video card to assure it was a working one... but nothing.
I reset the CUDA and have replaced the battery.... maybe I'm just not thinking straight and have forgot something??
    thanks for your help!!

  • Mac wont start up

My Macbook pro wont get past the apple start screen. I hear the chime and the apple pops up and it just never stops loading. I've tried turning it off and on, starting it in safe mode, and starting it through the Mac OS X DVD. by putting the dvd in and holding option, I saw that it does recognize my hard drive, and it recognized the dvd as well, but when I try to start either of them, it can't get past the loading screen. How can I get the machine past the loading screen?

  • Battery full, will not start up? Suggestions?

    Greetings,
I have my trusty ol' 15' MBPro..which, all of a sudden will not boot. Battery meter is all lit up. The last few days, it has tried to start, even make it to main page once...then goes blank (no power). I have had install disc in once..trying to run utility..same thing..powers down. Now, it won't even try. Nothing happens when I push start button. I'm in remote southern Mexico, so...there are no technicians here. I've replaced the battery a couple of times in it's lifetime, but..as I said..it shows as fully charged. Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated. Thanks.
       Dave

Making good sense, Dave...since the charger is showing a green light and the battery meter shows full charge, but the unit won't start up to the login page, and won't start on the install disk, it sounds like a fault in the startup manager.  When you say won't power up, am I understanding correctly that you mean it starts to power up and then stops, since you describe not getting past the initial startup page?  If that is the case, have you tried starting up holding the Option key to take control of the startup manager?
If you are not getting any startup at all, that is, no response at all, it sounds more like a failure in the logic board, or charging circuitry.  The unit should be able to start on line power even with a dead battery, as long as the battery is in place...there are enough users on here with dead battery issues to indicate that it should startup as long as it gets power from somewhere.
The question of the line power should not be an issue since the chargers are rated 110-240 volts at 50-60 Hz, and as long as you are in that range you should still be seeing 12 volts DC out of the charger.

my apple I mac 2009 won't start up normally   it makes three loud beeps

Remove and reinsert the computer's RAM. If that doesn't work, use different modules.
If that only happens when you try to boot the computer to a specific Mac OS X version, it's too old.
