Battery Full - macBook won't swich on or work without plugging to mains
Hallo Everyone!
I've been a big Mac enthusiast without owning one for a long time. Finally on the 6th Feb I got myself my first Mac - MacBook to be exact. It worked First two days without any proplems. Yesterday (10th) I couldn't switch it on. Got very scared as battery was showing fully charged. After tryng for some time and hearing some buzz sound - as if MacBook was starting - and the first 'acord' of the sound when you start Mac I decided to plug it to the mains. And then without a problem MacBook started.
If i unplug it from the mains Mac will switch of. It seems like the fully charged battery is not connected.
Any suggestions? or should I just go to AASP. I thing I go there tomorrow.
Lots of love and light to all you guys!
Went to the AASP and the guy checked with another battery and My MacBook worked just fine. So now I have to wait for a new battery to be ordered. It takes up to 2 weeks.
The only weird thing is that my MacBook is only 6 days old... I have seen others here having the same problem it looks like an outbreak!
love

Battery "Full" but won't boot w/o AC
I've tried hard to find help for this: Clean installed Leopard over Tiger two weeks ago. Battery would hold 2+ hours, has 226 cycles, no issues. Two days ago noticed power issue: Power supply light is green from the moment it is plugged in, computer says batt is fully charged and all LEDs light up if I press the button. Original battery from 11/05, claimed a new one on recall, kept this one and used replacement until that eventually faded and couldn't hold charge >5 mins. 65W charger indicated in the profiler. Here's other info - note "0 cycles". I've reset PMU and PRAM.
Battery Information:
Charge Information:
Charge remaining (mAh): 65501
Charging: No
Full charge capacity (mAh): 65501
Health Information:
Cycle count: 0
Condition: Good
Battery Installed: Yes
Amperage (mA): 0
Voltage (mV): 10780
Can the computer suddenly become unable to run on battery? Thanks eww. 15 times! I do think the (full) cycle count is correct considering it has had little use for half the computer's life span. I'll take the batt down to the local dealer for testing before making sure it gets well and truly forked... Having read a long thread about Leopard upgrading and charge issues on G4s, I want to ask you if you think there could be a data issue at all. Attempting to remedy the charge issue I reset the PMU (mac off, batt out, press on switch 5 secs) and then the profiler gave me cycles count while resetting time/date. Resetting PRAM had it disappear again, but the system clock remained set. And the batt LEDs all light up which agrees with the charge indicator. Would they at all, on a dead battery, or is that in line with terminal dementia of the battery pack?

New battery now macbook won't start up?!
Hi people! My MacBook Pro died last week, due to the mrs letting it run too low on power! This resulted in the battery being dead!!! I purchased a new one via eBay (a cheaper aftermarket one) I installed the battery and hit power on!! No response!! I have tried various methods to try to get the mac to turn on but nothing seems to work! If I take the battery out and put it back in then hit power on I get it to try to start up for about half a second but then it's just dead again?!? Any ideas??? Thanks guys
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You mustn't purchase a third-party battery, and in your case, it looks like it's damaged, so return it if you want and take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get an official battery -
Macbook won't boot up, nothing works, Please help
I have a 13' macbook pro (2009). In the past year, it keeps having problems. Basically, it freezes and won't boot-up. However, this could always be fixed via boot into safe mode, or reinstalling the OS. Previous hardware diagnostics never detected hardware failure. I've never touched anything inside the computer including hard disk, RAM, battery and everything else.
Today, it froze as it did before, and I could not manage to boot it by ANY means. After I press the power button, no grey screen, no apple, it just froze on a blue screen. I was running okay before it froze up. I had safari and skype running and nothing else.
The computer did not response to any of the startup key combinations (I've tried every single one that I could find online, including resetting NVRAM and SMC). It won't boot from installation disc, and, since startup keys did not work, I could not eject the disc. One strange thing is that when the computer froze at the blue screen, pressing power button will IMMEDIATELY shut down everything. That is, I did not have to hold the power button to shut it down, it seemed as if all the power was unplugged at once.
Could someone tell me, what could possibly be the problem? Thank you very much!!!Could be a HD failure, logic board failure or the SATA cable failure. If you have AppleCare on it take it your local Apple Store or AASP to be looked at.

My mac does not work, i have problems with the battery, what can i do to solve this, can it run without battery?
Desktop Systems use large capacitors in their power supplies to smooth out fluctuations in the supplied power, to avoid having power fluctuations damage the computer.
NoteBook computers use the battery to do this job. It is not a good idea to run it without a battery in place, because this allows fluctuations in supplied power to go directly into the computer without buffering. This may cause damage.
Apple has lowered prices on many battery replacements to around the US$150 range. The quality of third-party batteries varies widely, but they must generally be cheaper than that (or no one would buy them). -
MacBook won't recognize firewire until reboot (no plug n play)
MacBook stopped recognize my "Mackie Onyx Satellite" FireWire-Audio-Interface until I reboot. Log Out doesn't help, only reboot works.
Does anyone have any ideas, how to make it plug-n-play(able) again?VLK, can you check which firewire chipset your macbook has. reboot with apple key + S I suppose. it should be either Lucent/Agere (the troublesome one) or TI (the good one).
if it is Agere then maybe this will help you:
http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=974
supposedly all the macbooks (pro and ordinary) have the Agere chipset now and that has given some trouble for firewire audio users. I am waiting for my white macbook to arrive on monday and to test it with RME fireface 400.
please report back, hope this helps -
nothing comes up when I plug any devices into the USB port. any advice. I'm quite new to macs
An issue with USB can be almost anything. Check this article from Apple, as it might help you diagnose the problem.

MacBook Pro will not charge, only works when plugged in.
My MacBook Pro says it is at 68% battery not charging but the source is coming from the power adapter. It hasnt gone down for the past day or so. Also it only works when it's plugged in and shuts down immediately when the charger is unplugged. I just bought a replacent cord and this started happening. Does anybody have a fix for this? Macbook pro ipod nano does not work after plugging in
I plugged in an iPod nano to my MacBook Pro which has two operating systems, one is OS and the other is Windows. I don't know which generation the iPod nano is. The PC side of the MacBook Pro is working but the OS side is not working. It allows me to login and then shows a blank white screen with the pointer cursor.
The iPod nano was plugged in to add music from iTunes. I plugged it in, opened iTunes, and the iPod nano was not recognized on iTunes or on the computer in Finder. I unplugged the iPod nano and closed iTunes. When I opened iTunes again, it gave me an error and will not open iTunes again. I restarted the computer and this is when the OS side stopped working and the PC side continued to work. I was able to load OS in Safe Mode though.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help. Thanks!I had the same issue...of course i went swimming with my iPod but still. If it is the battery that is giving you trouble then go back to your local apple store or call them. Ask what the most reliable place for iPod repair is. A second option (what I did) is to go into the iPod recycle program. They take your old iPod and either give you a discount on the new one of the same style or a discount on a new one of the 3rd gen. I recomend the first option if your iPod is unused.

Macbook restarts after going to sleep when not plugged into mains
Hi all,
I've a mid-2012 Macbook Pro running Yosemite (10.10.3), 2.5GHz i5 and have just recently upgraded it to 16GB RAM (and I'm wondering if that's the problem).
The post title says it all really - if I let the computer go to sleep when it's not plugged into the mains, when I wake it up by pressing a key it restarts. Battery life is not a factor in this - I can have lots of juice left but the same thing will happen.
Once rebooted, I get the 'Your computer restarted because of a problem' window with the following text; I'm hoping someone smarter than me might be able to spot something in this that will help resolve the problem.
Any thoughts appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

It sounds like your MacBook Pro is spontaneously restarting, and you wonder if it’s because you recently added memory to the notebook. Take a look at the article linked below which provides a lot of great information about “kernel panics” and specific troubleshooting related to RAM.

Charger stays green, battery won't charge and MacBook won't start up
My son just gave me his old MacBook. While visiting him it worked fine, stayed charged up a long time. When I got home & plugged in the charger and it stayed green, didn't turn amber. Read the user manual and checked the battery level which is 1 blinking light only. It won't power up (I tried all the troubleshooting tips on pg 54) and the battery is not charging. Does anyone think I just need a new battery or do you think I need a new power cord?
So excited to have my first MacBook and now it won't start! I'm an unhappy camper :-(Battery Information:

MacBook won't stay on with Battery installed
Hi,
I spilled a little bit of soda on the left side of my MacBook a few days ago. I took the battery out and let it dry for a few days. Now my MacBook won't stay on, it thinks that the battery is empty and just shuts itself down even though it is fully charged. I removed the battery and turned it on while connected with the AC adapter and it seems to be working fine. It only seems to have problems when the battery is inserted. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks,
RobertHi,
I have been looking into this more carefully, it seems that my MacBook will no longer detect the battery. I reinstalled the battery and it will now stay on while on AC power. There is an X on my battery icon, despite the battery being installed and fully charged. Below is my power information:

Macbook won't start up immediately after battery dying
When I plug in my Macbook after its battery died, it won't start up immediately.
Every single time I have to press power button if I want it to start up. When I do this, it makes a really strange noise. (it's comparable with the sound your Macbook makes when you put in a DVD or something) Afterwards I can see my desktop but the screen is white/transparant and at the same time a progress bar appears. When this bar is full, my Macbook shuts down again and I have to do it all over again. The second time around my Macbook will start working eventually. The white, transparant screen disappears and after a minute or so, I can move my mouse again.
Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
Thank youHi Laura Hallaert,
I understand that you are seeing a progress bar appear after waking from sleep when your computer has shut itself down from a lack of power. This article will explain to you why you see the progress bar:
Mac computers: Progress bar appears after waking from sleep - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201635
This progress bar only appears when your computer’s battery power has been depleted, so if you put your computer to sleep before that happens, you should not see this behavior any longer. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

Braden
