Battery gone bad?

Hello everyone!
As a habit I try not starting new threads after I first join, but I can't find this topic anywhere.
I got my Pre a week ago, and everything has been great until today.  The phone was at 100% last night before I went to sleep, and this morning the phone was off.  I thought maybe some apps opened or something and may have drained the battery.  So I hooked it up to the wall to charge.  After about a half hour I went to check on it and it was still on the initial charging screen (the big battery icon with the red in the bottom, before the phone is on).  After watching it a while longer I found out that its stuck in a loop, where it remains on that screen, then tries booting and shows the PALM logo, but then it cuts short before it starts pulsating and glowing and goes back to the initial charging screen.
After hours of this and attempting all the different reset key combinations I can find, as well as reseating the battery many times, it's still doing it.  Does this sound like the battery may just not be able to hold a charge? Should I stop off at a Sprint store tomorrow?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Hello population96 and welcome to the Palm forums.
Based on your description of the problem, I don't think it will hurt to stop by your local Sprint store and have them take a look at the Pre.  That said, my Pre won't last a full 24-hours on a full charge if I have the cell radio, Wi-Fi,Bluetooth, and GPS all enabled.  Keeping Wi-Fi on all the time seems to be the biggest draw on the battery.
DId you leave any of these services enabled on your Pre over night?  I will typically only leave the cell radio and the Bluetooth readio on all of the time.  Wi-Fi and GPS only come on when I need to use them.

  • Battery died, wont hold a charge, just died.  Fully charged battery dies in approx 2 hours.  Is it battery gone bad. Or something causing battery to use excessive amount of energy.  Do you lose data if battery goes out?

Battery died, wont hold a charge.  After fully charging battery, battery loses all power in 2 hours. Is this indicative of a battery gone bad or something else?  Will I lose data if battery completely dies?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes I have done the reset-didn't work.
Yeh, the calibration was done so the phone turned off, then plugged back in to charge back to 100%!
The iphone4s was connected to the charger outlet, the second I unplugged the phone the battery percentage went from 100% to 98%.
AS we speak my phone is now on 100%, after 10 mins usage and 33 minutes standby. This just doesn't correlate with the decrease in battery life associated with every other number (e.g 99,98,97%) apart from when it is on 100%.

  • Can Apple replace my macbook pro (mid 2012) retina's battery if I think that the battery health has gone bad/in need of and renewal?

Can Apple replace my macbook pro (mid 2012) retina's battery if I think that the battery health has gone bad/in need of and renewal???
I've had my Macbook for about 11 months now and i use it every day; its gone though about 420 cycles of charging and using the power, and i noticed the battrey preformance has decreased (as expected). The problem isn't sevear yet but it would comfort me knowing that i could replace the battery in the near future
Please contact me or answer the question if you know anything about this!

No only if they think under warranty/AppleCare, but your likely able to pay for a new battery if they have them, which they might not yet since it's such a new machine still.
BTW, I have a Early 2011 17" MBP, 27 months old, charges to 97% and has only 14 cycles.

  • Hard Drive Gone Bad (2nd one)

I have a macbook, purchased in May of 2006. I have already replaced the harddrive once and it has gone bad again. I have a flashing folder with a question mark upon start up.
I do not have the extended warranty, but am concerned about putting in a new drive to have it go bad in a year. Have there been reports of the heat causing hard drive issues. I have also had to replace the battery as it lost power to quickly.
I have another macbook that was purchased at the same time that has never had any problems. I want to know about any related issues when I take my computer to Apple tomorrow.

Took the computer in today. I asked if the drive was a Saegate, indicating that I knew about the problems with the drive. He pulled it out. Yup, the Seagate model. I explained I knew it was out of warranty, but wanted to know what they would do.
He checked with someone and they are replacing the drive for me at no charge. I was very nice, never acted like I expected anything. But I also made sure to mention this was the second drive to go bad, that my child's mini mac had a bad motherboard after a month. Yet we own three apple computers and three iPods. I think being nice about it and a good customer helped me.

  • New G580 laptop gone bad

I bought a lenovo G580 a few months back and it has already gone bad. I am not able to switch on the system without the chargers plugged in.
I have called up the customer service but they dont seem to be of any help either. They just lack the communication skills and fail to give any solution.
If my problem isn't sorted out. i will have to post my pathetic experience with Lenovo on all the social networking websites. If the company can't assist us during the warranty period, I wonder what will happen if the warranty period expires.

    Hi Azam,
As I can understand that the battery is not charging so I’d like to advise you to uninstall Lenovo Energy management from your application list and then reinstall it back from the below link we just need to make sure that the problem isn’t with the software issue:
    For Windows 7(32bit-64bit):
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_EG/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS030145
    For Windows 8(32bit-64bit):
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_EG/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031269
And after that check the battery icon if it changed to be charging.
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
    Regards
    Soha

  • Has my M1424WR router "gone bad"? - and its replacement "bad" out of the box?

I've had Verizon FiOS service for about 3 years now, and have had very few problems with it.  A few times I lost internet or TV during storms when lines came down somewhere, but that's about it.
The FiOS installer gave me an Actiontec M1424WR router and access port, with a coax connection to the outside box.  I have a multi-room DVR setup (2 DVRs that can "see" each other, and a third read-only STB), so as I understand it I have to use the Actiontec (good bye to my old Linksys router used with my high speed cable service).
I have 4 computers attached directly to the router and up to 8-10 wireless devices (cell phones, tablets, wireless printer, gaming devices, streaming media players, etc.) on my home network.  As such, I reset the router's SSID to the same one I had before, with 128-bit WEP security (a 16 char hex key).  I also am "advanced" enough to know how to go through the advanced settings and start the DHCP address allocation to start at 192.168.1.100 to allow several of my devices (network storage drive, wireless printer, gaming systems, etc.) to maintain locally static IP addresses like 192.168.1.3 through 192.168.1.9 that reconnect when the router is reset or rebooted.
All this worked beautifully for about 3 years, until last week.  The wireless network started dropping out - not just external internet access, but seeing other hosts in the home network - requiring a router reset to come back (or just a disable/re-enable of wireless service via the router settings at http://192.168.1.1).  However, the "Wireless" light on the router remains green.
Even the wired internet connection (the computer hooked up with an Ethernet cable, right next to the router) would lose its internet connection for 5-10 seconds at a time before resuming.  The multi-room DVR functionality would get spotty, too - until a reset, boxes couldn't see each other, playing back data from another box would be very slow or not come up at all.
After 4 goes of it with Verizon support via chat and phone (the experience of which I won't go into), which included a remote reset of my external access box by Verizon, I concluded that the router must have gone bad.
Last night, I went in person to a Verizon service station near me to swap the router, got back what they said was a "brand new" M1424WR, and installed it...  To get the same problem, actually worse.  The wireless drops out in about 5 minutes, the light is still green but no wireless hosts can ping each other or anything on the wider internet (like using Speedtest).  I can use my wired internet fine (no hiccups there, yet) but my multi-room DVR is not 100%, two boxes can see the other two but one of the DVRs can only see itself.
It seems unlikely but I have to believe this is still a problem with the router box itself, and I just got yet another flaky one back, right?  Nothing in my home network has changed (no new devices, services added, firmware updates, etc.) from last Tuesday when it was fine.
Any other ideas for me to try?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, I traced it to a "radio problem" with a client device.  It was a "Belkin F5D7330 802.11g Wireless Ethernet/Gaming Adapter" I was using to connect a network printer that has only an ethernet port to my wireless network (so I wouldn't have to run CAT5 cable to where the printer is situated).
To do this I had to remove/disable ALL my wireless devices and computers, then add them back in one by one...  It was frustrating because I'd forgotten that printer was actually connected wirelessly, I was used to thinking of it as connected via an ethernet cable since I "knew" that's what the printer supported.  I even unplugged my 2.4 GHz wireless phone base, which I actually believed to be the culprit.  I only remembered the printer's wireless adapter after everything else was removed.
But once I unplugged the Belkin's power, boom, my wireless network was back to normal!  And plugging it back in caused the problem again.  So it's bye-bye Belkin.

  • MIFI4620LE Jetpack blinking amber light--does this mean the battery is bad? Should the unit operate without the battery installed if plugged in?

MIFI4620LE Jetpack blinking amber light--does this mean the battery is bad? Should the unit operate without the battery installed if plugged in?

The MIFI4620LE Jetpack does not work without a battery installed, even when connected to an external power supply.
I personally think that was a dumb design. I would think the unit would use more electricity when continually charging the battery than just powering the unit it's self, but that's the way Novatel made them.
If your Jetpack works with the battery installed and connected to an external power supply, but does not power on with power supply disconnected, I would say that the battery is defective or worn out.
You should be able to go to a nearby Verizon Store and have them either test the battery or put a new one in it to see if it works. Then you will know if you need to spend the $$ for a new battery. OR if you always use your Jetpack at home, or in your car, just use the old battery connect to a power supply or your cigarette lighter and save the cash.
As the Customer Support person stated, the slow blinking amber light is a normal state when the Jetpack is turned on and connected to Verizon's service.
I hope this solves your problem.

Does it hold a charge? Can your device be charged? Does it have a good battery life?
If you answered no to any of these questions, your battery is bad.

  • Content engine fan gone bad? How to check health?

We deployed a CE-511 to a remote site.
The site contact told me one of the fans may have gone bad cause it sounds like "someone getting a tatoo".
"show power" or "show environment" doesn't work on the content engine.
I can't find anything in the syslog either.
Could someone please tell me how I can check the health / status of the system fans?
    thanks.

    Apple->About This Mac->More Info->System Report->Network->Wi-Fi
Look under INTERFACES which should give you information about your AirPort card.

  • Scanner gone bad?

    Hello all,
My nice niece is sending me photos to do something with for her wedding. She is scanning them at about 300 dpi and then emailing a few to me to look at before burning them all to disk and mailing them to me. I am opening in Preview then iPhoto.
They all look poor quality though in email. Horizontal lines and blotchy and pixelized etc.., Is this due to email doing something to them or are there some signs of a scanner gone bad that we could look for?
    Thanks,
    Al

    Al:
Does she see the horizontal lines on the pictures also? If not then it's being introduced by the emailing. If that's the case have her try to zip the file before emailing - Control-click on the file and select "Create Archive of xxxxx" from the Contextual menu. Then email that archive file.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Firewire gone bad

    firewire gone bad.
Ireciently have hd issues with my g4 power mac in regards to its firewire connection. I reciently purchased an adio interface, a m-audio firewire 410 which runs via firewire. I was warned that this device could potentially harm my fire wire port. Reciently my computer will shut down when I plug the cable in. My computer also will nit recognize my m-audio interface which makes it usless to me at this point. My question is...
Does this seem like an issue with my firewire port or the device I'm using or both. Also I would love to know what need to do to resolve this issue.
    Ryan

Try a Firewire PCI card..... it's a cheap experiment to do
But are you sure that is the Mac and not the FW410?
Maybe are just the M-Audio drivers....
    cheers
