Battery HELP!

I just bought a new ibook G4 and was wondering how long I have to charge it for the first time. And can I just plug the AC adapter in instead of charging it so I could play with it so i dont have to wait? HELP!!!

Hi Jason. It's OK to plug in and go. Who could resist?!!
While you're charging up and playing have a look at Calibrating Battery.
(PS. I know you're eager to get going but one post is usually enough, besides, from what I remember, the same info came with mine in the pack )
I do understand your impatience though, so have fun with your new iBook, and come back here with any more probs.
Happy playing!!

  • Ipod mini battery help!

I have an Ipod mini and I will listen to about two songs and it will tell me that it is out of battery power. But I charge it every night until it say charged and sometimes I leave it over night plugged in. Do I need a new battery? Any help would be great.

I'm actually having a similar problem. I've had my iPod about 3 1/2 months now and lately it's been cutting off, telling me that there's no battery power, even if I've just charged it. I've reset it and it's worked for a minute and then does the same thing. I'll have to try resetting it 2 or 3 times and then the battery will kick back in. But it's been happening for a couple of weeks now. What's the deal? I've noticed it's been doing this since I updated with the 9/23 update.

  • HP dv5-2155dx battery help ASAP

I need help ASAP! I have a dv5-2155dx HP laptop, and it's in need of a replacement battery. I'm not sure what exact model type of battery it needs. I read it's MU06 but I need an accurate answer.. I don't want to install a new battery that doesn't fit or work. :/

The Dv5-2155dx battery is also called an MU06 battery and can be found using the links. That page specifically lists your model as compatible.  Note the battery listed here is a 3 year battery. It also is rated at 6000mAh/65Wh which means it provides about 20% power for longer run times vs the 56Wh battery mentioned in the previous post.

  • G4 Battery Help

    Hi, all,
I've seen similar topics, but haven't found a case analogous to mine. My iBook 14" G4 is just over 2 years old (bought Dec. 2003). For about a year and a half I've been using it daily, alternating between using it without the power adapter and with. In the last 6 months, I've noticed that the battery has diminished greatly in capacity -- it now drains in about only 45 minutes, and takes maybe a little longer than that to fully charge.
The most recent development is that I am currently getting the "you are currently running on reserve battery power" (or however it's phrased) notice at higher and higher battery charge percentages. It used to kick in when the battery was at 4-5%, and it's been slowly climbing such that today I got the notification at 25%.
Is it time to buy a new battery, or is there something I (or Apple) can do to fix it? While not my first Apple, this is my first portable so I don't have any experience with iBook batteries. I am a poor, poor student, so I'm hoping someone can give me some help that does not involve dropping $125 at the Apple store.
    Thanks!

You've gotten more than your money's worth out of that battery. It's time for a new one. 2 years of continuos use for a Lion battery is very good.

  • What should my Macbook fan speed be? and battery help

My mac goes hot real easy and my battery goes down really quick. Ive tried doing what websites have told me to do (Eg. Turn down brighness) but not helping at all. HELP

There is a free to download App called iStat, which will run in dashboard.
This will enable you to see actual temperatures at key points in the Macbook (CPU etc). It will also tell you fan speeds etc (but take care interpreting such information. It's at best a 'relative' tool)

  • IPhone 3G Battery Help!

I Charged my iPhone from 10pm Last night and took it off at 8.00am this morning. The battery said fully charged. I Sent a few texts and called someone and the battery went down to nearly half. Can anyone tell me a way to resolve or should i Call 02 or apple?

i am in the US and i have terrible battery life. i have cycled the battery several times, i have turned everything off; 3g, location services, wifi, push, blue tooth, everything i could find and the longest my battery will last is 2 1/2 hours. apple phone support has been a joke. this has been the worst customer service i have received from apple and i am very disappointed by that. now i have to travel over 100 miles to get to an apple store and see if one of those geniuses can help me. i have one of the original iphones as well and that phone would go all day with out having to be charged, this thing has to be charged 2 - 3 times a day, it is worthless to me. i hope someone can advise what can be done to fix the battery issue.

  • I need battery help please!

Ok...my computer has been acting up for a week now...it's shut down on me when I've been in the middle of something and running on the battery-problem is everytime it shuts down, it won't turn on again unless it's plugged in. Battery is dead right? Nope, there's always at least 50% left on the battery. But now my battery will not charge past 63%...the green light comes on and it thinks it's full...but it's only at 63%. What's wrong, does anyone know anything I should do?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Sounds like your battery is failing. How old is the battery? The iBook battery usually has a useful life of 2 to 3 years. Is your machine still under Apple Care? If the battery less than a year old, then Apple will replace it under certain circumstances. You'll have to call Apple Care.
If you are out of the warranty period, have a look at here for replacement options.
There are two good articles from Apple for caring for your battery. You may find them helpful.

  • IPod battery help needed pleeeeeease!

    Hi
I did the battery test yesterday on my 30GB video as recommended. I let it play an album continually with no backlight what so ever and no equalizer. I don''t have the exact time that it took to run out but the last I checked was after 13 3/4hrs and it was still going but was deep in the red. It had add 2 accidental stoppages during this 4 about 2 mins. However I was pretty pleased with the results. I don't expect that they would have been much different with the backlight as this should have turned off after a few secs.
However I am getting pretty annoyed with the fact that just skipping about 4 songs begins to run down the battery. I haven't done a test of how long the battery will last with skipping a few songs and having the backlight, however, I have noticed significantly less than 14hrs if I do this. Is this meant to happen? And is anybody else thinking like that why didn't apple make a battery that would withstand peoples normal usage? Also does anybody know if the battery packs are any good and if they damage the internal battery?
    Pippa

Apple used the best battery technology that was
available and for the price. I have yet to just sit
and listen to my IPOD for 13 hours straight, 6 hours
maybe but not what the battery is rated at in terms
of hours. How the songs are encoded also affect how
long the battery lasts. No two batteries are going to
    give exactly the same results.
    A lithium-ion battery provides 300-500
discharge/charge cycles. The battery prefers a
partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full
discharges should be avoided when possible. Instead,
charge the battery more often. There is no concern of
    memory when applying unscheduled charges.
Although lithium-ion is memory-free in terms of
performance deterioration, batteries with fuel gauges
exhibit what engineers refer to as "digital memory".
Here is the reason: Short discharges with subsequent
recharges do not provide the periodic calibration
needed to synchronize the fuel gauge with the
    battery's state-of-charge. A deliberate full
discharge and recharge every 30 charges corrects this
problem. Letting the battery run down to the cut-off
point in the IPOD will do this. If ignored, the fuel
gauge will become increasingly less accurate.
    Simple Guidelines:
Avoid frequent full discharges because this puts
additional strain on the battery. Several partial
discharges with frequent recharges are better for
lithium-ion than one deep one. Recharging a partially
charged lithium-ion does not cause harm because there
is no memory. (In this respect, lithium-ion differs
    from nickel-based batteries.)

    Pippa

    Pippa,
What you describe is normal. Everytime you skip songs you fire up the hard drive. It spins, therefore drawing power. The backlight would also draw power.
Any hard drive based music player is going to have the same drawback (not really a drawback if you ask me), so it's not Apple, it's the technology.
If you are that concerned with battery life, why don't you get a Nano? It's flash based and so would draw less power to skip around. It doesn't hold as much or play video, but if battery power is you dilemma, then that's your answer.
Also, if you absolutely need the storage or video; there are solutions. I would assume that anytime you'd need to listen to music for that long, you'd be somewhere where AC power was available (unless you are flying fromm New York to Tokyo ) So that leads me to solution #1...
    1. Get an AC adapter so you can charge your iPod from a wall outlet. I'm thinking about getting one because I use my iPod at work to drown out all the distracting noise, so this would be practical for me.
If you are truly that mobile...Solution #2...
    2. Get a supplemental battery source for the last minute emergencies. I have heard nothing about them having a detrimental affect on the iPod or iPod internal batter.
If your mobility is mainly driving...Solution #3
    3. Get a car charger. Since this would be another situation where you may be away from a viable charging source for a long time, you can buy a charger, much like one for a cell phone.
    This one's a joke
    4. Don't listen to so much music Wait, that's what you bought the iPod for...forget that one.
    I hope this helps.

  • IPod discharged battery help

Hello, I lent my iPod video 60GB to a friend for a month, and when he returned it the battery was completely shot. I'm guessing he didn't charge it well enough.
Well, I tried hooking it with a USB and I see a half dead battery sign, which the Apple support cleary mentions as a discharged battery. It said to leave it there (almost until half an hour) and the battery should be charged enough to turn on. I've done that, left it for an hour, and nothing happens. All I get is a black screen with the Apple sign, a few churning noises, then stops, and resets back to the screen and over.
I would really appreciate any help, before I take it the Apple store. Thanks in advance.

I have had mine with a completly discharged battery take two to three hours before it even turned on. Give it a little more time and see.

  • White Light Dead Battery HELP PLEASE

Okay so, I accidentally et my Droid Bionic completely drain, and now when I try to charge it, it wont even show the white indicator LED. If I take the battery out and plug it in to the USB it shows the white light. Ive tried chargin it on over 3 Chargers for at least a Half Hour on each. Im going to let it charge over night. But my question is... Does the white indicator light only show up once it has reached at least 5% charge? Also is there any way I can boot the phone without the battery in it? If anyone could help me that would be great. Thank You.

Well your best bet to charge with is a OEM if you can find one, It will charge with one bought from Verizon even Radio Shack might have a AC adapter that can utilize the USB cord you have, To buy one on-line will cost from 15 to 25 dollars plus S&H and Verizon would have one for about 25 to 30 see if they have AC adapter that you can plug that USB in..

  • Ipod nano i can't charge battery HELP!!

I have try to charge my ipod with plug the ipod's usb in my laptop and i can see the icon's of charge and when the battery is charged if i plug off the ipod nano the battery's indicator is red -.-
the ipod is new any help ?

Try a hard reset. Press and hold the center button and Menu (up) for about 5 seconds. It will turn off and reset.
If that fails then you could try reinstalling the iPod using the iPod Updater tool.
Finally, you could try running the iPod until it turns itself off because it's out of battery. Then, force it to completely drain by hard resetting. After a hard reset it will probably run for another few minutes even though it said it was empty before. Then, charge it until it's full. That should calibrate the battery.
If all that fails then call Apple support cause you have a faulty battery.
