Battery icon always charging

Since the update I find that whenever I've got my MacBook connected to power the battery icon always contains the lightning bolt indicating charging, even when the battery itself reads 100% and the details indicate that it is fully charged. It never switches to a plug icon or some other indication that we're on power but not actively charging. Is this correct behavior?

Hi Kraonn,
Same here, it didn't occur to me that this wan't correct behaviour, I just assumed it was an icon change for the worse!  But you might be right, perhaps it is indicating charging and perhaps it should switch to the plug?  My battery is fully charged (2009 MBP) yet I've still got the lightning bolt - which I don't like!  I guess we could do a g. search for Yosemite images and see what others have...
I'm really loving Yosemite, it feels clean and fresh, the only 2 things I don't like are:
1.  The lightning bolt battery indicator!
2.  The red iTunes icon.

  • Bluetooth battery icon always half full

I just bought a pair of new bluetooth headphones (Philips M1BT). When I pair them to my iPhone they work fine, but the little battery icon next to the bluetooth symbol in the status bar always shows half full, even when the headphones say they are fully charged. Has anyone else had this problem? Does this mean my headphones have a faulty battery or is the icon just showing an inaccurate level?

Thanks for getting back to me. I think the feature is only supported by some bluetooth devices. Take a look at the second screenshot on this page to see what I'm talking about:

  • IPod battery icon 'constantly charging'

    Hi All,
When I charge my iPod (via wall socket or USB>computer) the battery icon displays that it is charging. However, no matter how long I leave it plugged in it will still show that it's charging. When I unplug from charging the battery icon shows 100% and lasts me for hours (as it should). I tried restoring to factory settings and all the tricks I've read about but nothing changed.
The good thing is that my battery actually does charge to 100%. The issue is that during the 'charging' phase I cannot detect when it is fully charged; it never shows 100% it always shows the charging animation. I have to guess if it's finishing charging depending on how long it's been plugged in.
Hope I explained my issue correctly, anybody know of a way to fix this?

Can anybody help with this? I do not think it's a battery problem as it is actually being charged. If anything it's a software problem?...

  • Iphone battery icons appear charged even it is not charged completly.

    Hello,
Recently I updated the OS of iphone to 3.1.2 after that there was no issues. After some days I am facing a strange issue. The battery icon appears fully charged with the switch icon on the battery. When I disconnect the USB still 25-30% of charging will be remained. I need to plug the USB several times then it shows charging again. Sometimes I restarted the iphone itself.
Please assist what is causing this problem and how to get rid of this.
    Regards,
    Sachin

Sachin I am having same problem with my 3G. Basically my USB cable is bit broken and sometimes i have to twist the cable to make it charge my phone.
So apparently it looks like when the cable get a bit loose my phone start showing Fully charged icon.
If you are using a non genuine cable or a faulty one then try using anyother USB cable.
    Cheers.

  • Battery Icon During Charging Does Not Show The Lightning Bolt?

How can i fix my iphone 4? the little battery icon in the top right does not show the 'lightning bolt' while charging. Instead, it displays a power plug. If i unplug and reinsert the charging cable the icon briefly changed back into the lightning bolt but then switches back to the plug. Why is this?

Does the iPhone show that it is charging, that is, does the percent charge increase?  If not it could indicate a faulty charger or connecting cable.  Can you try a different charger and cable to see what that does?
Have you tried a power off/on and a reset to see if those help?

  • My iPad 2 doesn't show the green battery icon when charging.

when i charge the ipad2 i see that it is charging on the top right symbol
i do not see the big green battery like on the iphone.
Why is there no big green battery on the opening screen when i wakeup the ipad2?

That feature doesn't show on the iPad2. I only have the symbol in the upper corner as well. You can buy a batter app that when used will show the battery upon wake up.

  • Battery Icon Shows "18% available (plugged in, charging)" But Battery Does Not Charge

The PC does operate on the battery only, just fine (so far, as there is only 18% remaining).
The PC operates with AC plugged in also.
LED by AC input is amber (looks orange to me).
According to the User Guide that indicates charging.
    Battery Check status is "OK"
I have had it on charge for over 12 hours and still at 18%.
When starting up, the battery icon shows charging movement then stops at a low level.
I measured the charger output at 20VDC (no load). Which is as specified.
I have tried all the suggestions about uninstalling and reinstalling  the ACPI Complient Control Method.......etc.
Removing battery, shutting down and all the rest of suggestions.
    No help.
I was told there was a BIOS update which I installed. (I'll post about that in another board). No help.
If I ever get this fixed it's going back to the vendor, Should not have this happen with less than 3 months since new.
Just got it back from repair for battery latch falling off. (Back plate was changed.)
    Anything new would be appreciated.

  • The charging signal is flashing on the battery icon !

I have an HP pavilion ,windows 7 ultimate . At the lowest of the screen on the battery icon the charger icon is coming and hiding ,coming and hiding fast. It is flashing. I am using a new charger about 3 months ago . And the battery is changed about 4 months ago.
P.S: my laptop is lagging and freezing ,it needs a format . Can this have any relation to this problem ??? Please help

Are you by any chance using iTunes 7.0.2 and firmware version 1.2?
If you are then I would surmise that you are the victim of a bug in the firmware (if you look at the forum there are thousands of people with the same issue)
Unfortunately for us users Apple appear to be burying their head in the sand on this one because there has been no official recognition of the problem, meanwhile people are continuing to download the firmware, oblivious to the fact that this will render their precious and much loved iPods completely useless.
This is clearly a completely cynical policy by Apple because they know that publicly admitting the problem would seriously harm their sales in the busy Christmas period.......POOR SHOW APPLE!!! THIS WILL HARM YOU MUCH MORE IN THE LONG TERM.
Fear not though, they will not be able to hide it for long because I know that the BBC are investigating this.

  • Ipad icon not charging but plugged correctly

My new ipad2 shows the  battery icon Not Charging but is correctly plugged, even tried different cables and into the wall and computer. Any hint ?

The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes.
There have been a few reports of defective wall chargers. Take it to the Apple Store for evaluation.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Blinking battery icon and refusal to recharge

every time I turn off my one-month-old 1G nano, a large battery icon blinks "charging," and it's not even hooked up to the USB, AC adapter or other power source. when it is plugged in, the tiny battery with a lightening bolt blinks endlessly, but never gets full. all I can do is keep the nano permanently attached to my computer or watch it slowly die. the screen never goes blank. it's either full "on" or "charging," from the air I must assume. i've done the 5 Rs dozens of times each over the past couple hours. it's maddening! any ideas?

    Hello,
You may want to format your iPod:
    Connect your iPod.
    Open "My Computer".
    Find your iPod's listing there.
Right-click it, and click on "Format".
Start the formatting in "FAT32". Make sure that "quick format" is un-checked.
After this formatting process is complete, make sure to perform a restore on your iPod to finish this.

  • NB550D - battery icon does not always reflect the proper balance of time

I have just recently purchased an NB550D and I must say that at the outset I am very happy with it. It does tend to be a bit slow but I can live with that.
My problem however is that the battery icon does not always reflect the proper balance of time. For instance after a full charge it may show 9 hours remaining but after a shutdown and restart it will may show 75% and 3 hours remaining. If I shut down and restart it may show 75% and 6 hours remaining
When I first started the unit I allowed it to fully discharge (through use) three times as was suggested by the salesman at the store but quite candidly it doesn't seem to have made one scrap of difference!
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Regards

Remaining time is not credible value of the battery state - it depends on actual duty of processor and the program wich estimates this sometimes shows wrong that time or corrects this after a while. Percentage of charge of battery is much better factor to use!
But in case your battery loses from 95% to 75% after restart indictates that's something wrong with the battery or program... In my NB550D after restart (pause for 1 day) the battery loses only 2-3% .

  • Battery does not charge (displays battery/plug icon on top right)

iphone 4 is about 3-4 months old
    Symptoms:
phone started to have issues a few weeks ago
it does not seem to want to charge
when plugged in, it displays the plugged in icon but doesn't seem to charge
have tried various charges (usb AND wall) and it won't always charge
the same charger that works, also might not work
few weeks ago, phone was down (out of battery for about 4 days) and then all of a sudden decided to charge
yesterday, it was plugged in overnight and it did not charge at all. but it had about 15% power left, so when i looked at the icon on the top right, it had the battery with a plug icon (i think that means its indicating the battery is fully charged) so it wouldn't charge at all
then i tried 3 different wall charges and one of them changed it to battery with a lightning bolt. then it started charging
so it seems like somehow the battery thinks its charged and does not charge even though its not really charged.
Could this indicate a problem with the battery, or the phone?

    thanks, will do..
Only problem i have is that the issue is intermittent, and dealing with mechanics and even computer shops if they can't replicate the problem they can't fix it.
the last time i had made an appt with apple store, the first time i ran across this issue, the phone started working the night before i had to go to the store.
whats the remedy in this case? as far as replicating the issue or trying to show them the issue.. haven't dealt with the apple store for warranty before so i wanna make sure i can explain the issue to them and not getting told that they can't do anything because they can't replicate the problem.
I will take a look at the pins tonight when i get home, i've been using a loaner phone since the iphone4 has been somewhat unreliable in the past few weeks.
