Battery Icon Shows "18% available (plugged in, charging)" But Battery Does Not Charge

The PC does operate on the battery only, just fine (so far, as there is only 18% remaining).
The PC operates with AC plugged in also.
LED by AC input is amber (looks orange to me).
According to the User Guide that indicates charging.
Battery Check status is "OK"
I have had it on charge for over 12 hours and still at 18%.
When starting up, the battery icon shows charging movement then stops at a low level.
I measured the charger output at 20VDC (no load). Which is as specified.
I have tried all the suggestions about uninstalling and reinstalling the ACPI Complient Control Method.......etc.
Removing battery, shutting down and all the rest of suggestions.
No help.
I was told there was a BIOS update which I installed. (I'll post about that in another board). No help.
If I ever get this fixed it's going back to the vendor, Should not have this happen with less than 3 months since new.
Just got it back from repair for battery latch falling off. (Back plate was changed.)
Anything new would be appreciated.

Thank you for your query and realize how frustrating this is.
I gathered from your post you have tried most of the troubleshooting steps to no avail.
If you check the adapter do you notice any damaged or bent pins as this can cause charging issues?

I updated the software on my iphone4 and after updating the iphone has gone to a screen to plug in itunes, but itunes does not recognise it. i have reloaded itunes, done a hard reset and still nothing. any ideas?

Gotcha,
If you have an iCloud account you might want to consider syncing that way so you won't have to use cables but that is certainly up to you.
Try:
1.) Backup all your data:
Backup your iOS device: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
Backup iCal: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2.) Reset the computer's sync services and then restart the computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
3.) Plug in the iOS device and attempt a sync.
--- Check the Info tab in iTunes to make sure calendars are still set to sync.
If that does not resolve the issue let me know and I'll give you a different route.

Battery is charging intermitently and does not charge fully

Hi,
I have a HP Envy Ultrabook and it is less than 5 months old.
Recently I noticed that my ultrabook's battery is not charging a few minutes after I plugged in my AC adapter. Also it does not charge fully.
At times the charging may start again for a few seconds but stopped.
Furthermore, the battery never reach 100% charge capacity but stops at 90+%.
As I cannot remove my battery since this is an ultrabook, please advise.

My iPhone is giving me ****. I don't know what is wrong with it besides that it will not charge. I've been scouring the internet for the last few hours and have been trying to figure it out. I've cleaned out the charging area with a toothpick that I discovered on another board, i tried plugging it back in, it acts like it is going to "connect" but it will not charge, I get the little indicator that looks like a plugin but I still do not get any charge, i have tried two different chargers and nothing is working. If it shows up in iTunes and you can sync the phone, could be that the docking port is damaged.
You should get it serviced or looked at by visiting an Apple Store or contacting Apple:

Could be a battery problem. You'll have to visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider to Apple Store to get it checked for hardware issues.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

HT1481 ipod shuffle 2nd generation, does not show up in window when plugged into itunes. Also, does not charge(no light comes on).

I have a ipod shuffle (2nd generation) that won't light up when plugged in to the power adapter. I have only used it a few times since I purchased it years ago. Also, when I plug it into my computer with itunes running, it isn't recognized at all, as in nothing happens when I plug the usb cable with ipod attached and on to it. Any help would be much appreciated.

What is that error?
Are you sure she has a Shuffle? You mentioned a Sad Face.. that would indicate that the iPod has a display, which a Shuffle does not.

Laptop says, "plugged in, charging" but it's not charging

I have a Satellite T134-1330 and it is a year and a half old. I was traveling, so my computer was stashed away for three weeks. When I got back, it was dead, but turned on when I plugged it in. Then I noticed later that it the battery was at 22% and not charging any more, yet it says it is. I tried taking it out and putting it back in, and I also tried draining the battery and then charging it. Now it just says, "0% remaining (plugged in, charging)" I can't figure it out! I've been having problems with the laptop being plugged in but then shutting down without warning from low battery. Just today my laptop shut off without warning so I started really paying attention to it, and I noticed that the battery icon would say "Plugged in, charging" but the charge was actually decreasing. It got down to 8% and I was frantically googling for a solution, because it was losing charge even though plugged in, when I found your post, Peter. I followed the steps and now it is charging and is up to 87%. Remains to be seen if this is a permanent solution, but it saved me a lot of aggravation today! - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Other than on their website, in the online store, and on the back of the box itself, Apple did not let you know the minimum specifications? Were they supposed to send you a Christmas card with the information? Please don't tell me that when you buy software you don't read the minimum specifications first.
That said, unless you want to upgrade iLife and the same time and purchase iWorks, you can buy the Snow Leopard retail disk for $29 and it will install just fine, assuming that your computer meets the minimum specifications. You might want to post back here with information on your computer just to make sure.
If you are like me and don't use all the applications in iLife and iWorks I word forgo the box set (which is a good price) and buy the apps you want from the Mac App Store. That way if you have no used for Garageband you can buy iPhoto and Pages from iWorks and move on. Need a spreadsheet? You can buy Numbers.
