Battery indicator lights not lit on side

is there a preference to show the lights on the side for the battery indicator?

If you follow the tiny pin holes of the indicator lights from the front towards the back of the machine, there is a circular indentation the size of 3/16 of an inch less than a quarter inch next to the last pin hole. Push that tiny circle in and the LED will light up for 3 seconds.
I assume all 13-inch aluminum MacBooks have the same design. You may want to inspect yours closely under some bright lights.

  • Battery Indicator Lights Not Working

When I push the button on the side of my macbook pro, the 8 little lights do not light up. Is there a way I may have accidentally turned then off? Is there anything I can do to make them work? Thanks for the help.

If you have Applecare warranty take it in for a check. If faulty it will be repaired at no cost.

  • Battery indicator lights will not work

For some odd reason when I push the battery indicator button on the left side there is no response (not even one light). According to the battery information in System Profiler the battery is in "good" condition with a cycle count of "66". Even when it is fully charged there is no response from the indicator lights. What is this attributable to? Thanks in advance.

You can confirm this yourself by having the seller show you the battery information in System Profile.
I'm just wondering if there is a serious problem and if I should pass on buying this a Mac?
Again read the threads in the column to the right.

This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
    1. Take off bottom case
    2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
    3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
    4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
    5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
    6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did)

  • Battery indicator lights show full battery but won't turn on

I have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning. It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery? Might I have to get a new computer altogether? I bought a replacement battery online so I'll have my answer in a few days, but I was just wondering.

And for what it's worth, I tried reseating the RAM and resetting the SMC, both with no luck. Could it be the logic board? The only reason I think it might not be is because my computer still worked a little bit after it first shut off, it was only after it was off for an extended period of time that it wouldn't turn back on.

If indeed you are talking about the progress side light indicating battery strength - I would say one burned out light is not going to cause harm down stream.  If you are under warranty you can take it in.

  • Mbp late 2011 battery indicator light question

The mbp will not boot or turn on.
Without being connected to a power source, none of the battery indicator lights come on when I push the little battery indicator light button.
Once I plug in the power cord and push the little battery indicator light button, the very left battery indicator light flashes on and off green.
    What does this mean?
I have detached the battery and re-attached the battery adapter to no avail. (Using the following instructions: http://www.spathi.net/tech-support/macbook-pro-wont-turn-on-charge-light-blinkin g-orange/)

If you have AppleCare, they will mail you the battery.
If you do not have AppleCare, call Customer Relations 1-800-767-2775. See what they can do for you. CS will determine if your model MBP qualifies for a free battery.
An Apple Store is not the only place to go. There may be an AASP closer. See KB Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304398 How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)
Another thing you can do is to go to System Profiler. Copy/Paste the Power info here. *Do not post any serial numbers.*

  • Battery indicator lights

    hi,
after having my logic bored replaced the battery indicator lights aren't working.
no matter the amount of charge when i press the button either the first light will flash, they will flash randomly or nothing will happen, does anyone know what the problem is?
this is the second logic board replacement because apples first attempt didn't work properly and now this happens lol :-/

I agree--keep after them until it's right. If another repair doesn't fix it, it may be worth asking if you could have a replacement machine on the theory that if the one you have still isn't fixed after 3 expensive repairs, it's not really worth continuing to put money into it, and it may ultimately be more cost effective for Apple to replace it.
    Good luck!

  • MBP 13'' Cannot detect battery & battery indicator light won't off

This morning, I found my mbp cannot detect the battery and the green battery indicator lights on the side of the mac won't switch off even if I turn off the computer and disconnect the power supply. Also with the problem that the mac cannot detect the battery, mbp cannot be switch on without power supply. I just got my mbp on Feb 2010 and I really enjoy it. These problems worried me a lot. So I went to apple retail store straight away. The staff has a quick look over the battery information on "About this mac" and updated the newest software, and suggests me to make a booking with Genius Bar. Then I went home. I did some searching on google and read some information about SMC and hardware testing. I did the hardware testing first. With a quick scan the computer provide an error code:
    4SNS/1/40000000:TB3T-128.000
And then I did the SMC procedure. This is where I solve the battery and indicator light problem. Now, the mac can detect the battery, the indicator lights return to normal and the battery can be charged. Seems all fine. But do you think I should cancel the booking with Genius Bar since the problem is solved? Or do you suggest to still bring into store and have a check? Thank you.

Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and advise us if that helped.

  • HT3205 Battery indicator light button - help page

    Re: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3205
I was asked if this article was helpful. I clicked NO and hoped to be asked why so that they might improve the answer. So now I am wasting my time doing what Apple should do.
Two things are missing from this page.
    1. Where is the 'battery indicator light button'
Now this may sound dumb, but I am not particularly dumb. However my eyesight and the lighting is not brilliant and I simply could not see this bit of minimalist design.
    2. What if the indicator lights all light up? I assume this means all is OK. But why not say it?

Just thought I'd bump this up as it's getting near the bottom of the page.  Any thoughts at all?  Thanks!

  • My iPod touch 5th generation battery indicator does not update when being charged (Updated to iOS 8)

Note that the iPod touch 5th generation was updated to iOS 8. When I connect my charger to my iPod touch, for the first time, the battery indicator does not update when connected to a power source. • Battery indicator lights are on

my battery indicator lights found underneath the battery always turns on when i plug the macbook into the adapter. is this normal?
i also noticed that the once in a while, the batter indicator in the desktop goes on "calculating" after it is on 99% charge. does the continuous lighting of the battery mean that the battery is being used? because if it does, then it would mean that the batteries are draining and charging consistently and therefore lowering the battery life. this is a new battery replacement and i didnt notice this behavior with the old battery.
    thanks in advance.

Nothing to worry about. This is normal behavior.
