Battery is not being detected but is working?

Hi all, I would just like to ask how to or possibly have a work around for my problem? My MacBook shows that there is no battery connected but it actually has one. I can confirm this because when I remove the adapter, the laptop would still continue to be on. Here's a runthrough of the issues that I believe is present.
The battery icon on the Menu Bar only displays as an X meaning the battery isn't being detected or something.
The laptop won't boot up without being plugged into an outletf first. But after that, the adapter can be removed.
A screenshot of the battery icon on the Menu Bar when the adapter is plugged in.
Now here's the screenshot when I removed the power adapter.
See how it says that the Power Source is my battery but at the same time it specifically says No Batteries Available. Can anyone help me on this?
As my last resort, in the case that this isn't a fixable issue (and I hope NOT), can anyone point me to any application that I can download to monitor my battery's remaining power? It's quite annoying not knowing when the laptop will suddenly shut down because of the battery losing its charge.

Hi. Install the most recent firmware for your battery and macbook. If this doesn't help, reset the SMC.

  • No battery is detected but fan works great

My HP Pavilion G7 1365dx (PN A7A33UA#ABA) running Windows 7 had its fan go bad. I ordered and replaced the fan. The fan runs nicely and all is quiet fan wise.
The issue is that once I reassembled the laptop the battery is not detected.  I don't believe that I could have left anything unconnected when I reassembled it that would only impact the battery power and not the AC power, though I could be wrong and would be happy to open the box up again and adjust if required as a last resort. I do not want to risk leaving something unplugged when I go back in and my concern in taking the keyboard off without punching a pencil or screwdriver through it.
I have tried removing the battery and booting only with power cord. Reflashing the BIOS, and a few other steps but still no joy.  Any suggestions?

The problem is there is not a lot of connections that could be responsible for the battery's not being detected. The battery port connectors (terminals) are part of the motherboard itself. If the power jack module is not seated right it might keep incoming power from getting to the battery to charge it but should not affect the power from the battery running into the motherboard. There might be some dirt or something on the terminals but you can reach them without taking the laptop apart. You should also check the battery terminals. Other than that it might be some harm befell the motherboard during the fan replacement operation.

  • Battery Not being detected

    Hi there,
My Hp Envy m6 has started saying that the battery can't be detected but it was working fine yesterday and my battry was fully charged. I've had the laptop for 2 years now and I've taken good care of it so I don't see how I would need to replace the battry so soon in the computers life

  • My battery is not being charged through charger actually it is being charged but really very slow and computer not recognising device after update to ios 6

my phone battery is not being charged through the laptop or when it is switched off the phone is being charged and after its on it does not show charging icon but charges at a real slow speed pls help as facing this froblemm since ios6 update

    Hello,
I wrote on another tread with same subject about month or two ago and until now, no one replied. I had the same problem. Today, I was at the friend who has HP laptop. We tried to solve the problem and tried it as follows:
    1. My battery in my laptop with my charger - not charging (appears in windows battery charging but all the times it remains at 90 %).
    2. His battery in his laptop with his charger - everything is working fine (this is just for the records)
    3. My laptop, his battery his charger - everything is fine.
    4. His laptop, my battery and his charger - everything is working fine
    5. My laptop, my battery and his charger - everything is OK.
I didn't try putting my charger in his laptop with his battery inside. But from above, it seams that something is wrong with the charger. Does anyone have some explanation? This is totally weird problem. Is there any logic in the charger that can prevent somehow battery charging? I am waiting another friend to bring his laptop and charger to assure that everything is OK with my motherboard and battery ( after all, charger is the cheapest, isn't it?) Since I'm electrical engineer, i would like to hear some explanation for this problem.

Want to know how Apple will get 20 hours out of their 60GB iPods batteries ?
They'll fill it with music and fully charge it (of course), then get it to play continuously (probably on random/shuffle or something similar) until the battery dies. They'll have the screen off all that time and they simply won't touch it, in an attempt to get the longest time they can.
    ie. it won't simulate real-life use !
Few other things worth mentioning :
    - Battery life whilst playing videos is only 3 hours total, so playing any videos at all is going to make quite a difference
    - The battery life indicator is only a rough guide - it's not accurate
    - Don't get too obsessed with 'calibrating' the battery. Accoring to Apple, this isn't necessary because ""lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in iPod, have none of the memory effects seen in nickel-based rechargeable batteries."

  • Ipod 4g 32G not turning on, not charging (on multiple cords, both comp and wall, 4 20min), not being detected by Itunes or Windows 7 64bit OS, will not reset, tried taking it out of "DFU", NO DMG, Itunes up2date, All I'm getting is a blank black scrn

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

See if you missed anything here:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HP 550 charger not being detected?

Hi, I currently have a problem with mY HP 550 charger i have not been able to use my computer for over 6 months cos of this. the laptop is around 3 years old, a while back my charger was working normally and then all of a sudden it stopped working... it wasnot charging the laptop at all..... I have tried to put it in again and again...the  charger is still not being detected. andi t wont charge the battery.. I had to resort to using libary computers (ughh my god there slow)  so now my laptop battery is dead.... I decided to try and fix my laptop today..... when I put my laptop charger in the light goes bue then white and then it just goes blank.... tried it with the another AC adapter which is compatible with my laptop still not working... tried my PS2 AC adapter not working... HOW CAN I FIX THIS?!?!

Please be careful what adaptors you plug into your notebook. Some adaptors have different voltages and amp capability.  You can damage your notebook if you apply too much voltage. I believe your adaptor should read 18.5 volts, 3.5 Amps and 65W but that information should be printed right on the adaptor. Make sure you don't use and adaptor you should not be using. Have someone test your adaptor to make sure it is putting out the correct voltage.  Try to remove the battery and just plug in the power adaptor and see if you can turn on the machine. Try to reset the machine by removing the battery and the power adaptor and holding in the power button for a full minute, then plug the power adaptor back in and then the battery and try to start the machine. Let us know what happens.

  • My Ipod Nano 5th generation is not being detected by Widows and Itunes. I have tried everything based on the trouble shooting tips outlined. Has anyone had this situation before? How was it resolved. My Ipod is just out of warrenty

Have done all trouble shooting tech a through Apples and still have not resolved issues on Windows and itunes not detecting my Ipod  nano 5th generation device. Tried restoring the device manually using disk mode and still not being detected by the computer. Device is our of warenty as when service repair charges are $125.00 dolars more than I paid for this device. There must be some way to restore the entire device to factor settings without having to be connected to itunes and Windows. I wish I could connect but again device is not being read. I have another Ipod that is 8GB instaed of 16GB and it works fine. The sad thing about this situation is that my 9year old daughter worked hard doing delivering fliers for a long time to save her money to buy this 16 GB 5th generation Nano. Otherwise the Ipod works well but will not syncronize songs as it is not being detected. Maybe this is a result of corrupt files that got onto my daughters Ipod somehow and thus causing it not the be detwected through the USB connection thus as a result not be understoud as a working device through Windows and itunes. If anyone can help me out there including itune techs that would be well appreciated, but for now my daughter is not able to add new or delete any songs on her ipod as well pictures, and everything. Thanks

Try changing the cord. I could NOT get my computer to recognize my iPod 5th Gen until I read somewhere that different apple devices use different cords. I was inadvertently using my iPad cord and that caused my computer to not recognize my ipod.

  • Mac os partition not being detected

I was using samsung hdd in my mac that was bootcamp partitioned. later I replaced the hard drive with the other HDD. Now i am using samsung hdd as external drive and wanna format it but the mac OS partition is not being detected how do I format the whole drive??? I can only see the windows partiton which is 150gb rest 350gb was Mac OS partition which i wanna format but not able to do....please help

Ok, you took out drive #1 which had Lion, Lion Recovery Partition and Bootcamped Windows.
You installed drive #2 internally and installed the Lion Recovery Partition and Lion (via what method?)
You booted from drive #2 and hooked up your drive #1 using either a SATA to USB adapter or powered enclosure and only can see the bootcamped partition? not the previous Lion Recovery or Lion OS X partition.
Some enclosures don't work with OS X
However if you want to format the entire external drive, wiping off everything including OS X, Bootcamp and Windows, all your files and programs, you should be able to select the "size" "brand name" + "model number" + "media" of the actual hardware itself on the far left side in Disk Utility.
(In my case I have two OS X partitions)
If your just selecting the name of your OS X boot partition, like Macintosh HD, then your only formatting that partition not the entire drive.
Click the Partition tab, select 1 partition, Option GUID, format OS X Extended Journaled and click apply, the entire drive will then be formatted for Mac use only.
If you want PC/Mac use, then Option Master Boot Record, format exFAT for 4GB+ files, or FAT (MSDOS) for under 4GB sized files, but most compatibility with other devices and Windows XP machines.
My thread here explains how it all works.
