Battery is not charging - New Battery

I have just bought a replacement battery as my old one reached the end of its life. After inserting the new battery and plugging in the charger, the message "Battery is not charging" appears when i click on the battery symbol. How do I set up my new battery? Or is my charger the problem?

I'm not too sure. I knew the laptop battery needed replacing so I waited for it to die completely. But the charger light wasn't lighting up like it usually did just before the battery died. I assumed it was because of the battery running out of juice. Should I try another charger and see what happens?

  • Not charging new iPad

I plug charger in but won't charge. However, when I plug into computer or other devices the devices recognize the iPad, just won't charge.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Battery not charging- new battery

Recently my laptop advised me to buy a replacement battery for it as it was unable to run without the charger plugged in.
I have bought the replacement battery, this is the advised one but is a 12 cell instead of the previous 6 cell.
Now I have swapped the battery over it won't charge. The laptop doesn't seem to acknowledge the charger is plugged in. The charger wire was working perfectly before the new battery so not sure what the problem is. Please help.

With the battery removed and the power adapter plugged in, does the power led light up and can you boot into Windows?

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

  • HT3964 Installed a new battery for a Macbook 2,1 New battery not charging. Battery symbol shows (Not charging) and replace battery. Green LED on magsafe connection. Disconnection results in an instant shutdown.

I have just installed a new Battery after the old one showed (Not Charging) and when you clicked on this icon the dropdown"condition replace now". Problem now is the computer still shows the same message in the top bar (Not Charging) and the dropdown also shows "condition relace now". the magsafe show the greem LED i.e not charging, but providing power. If you disconnect the magsafe the computer powers off instantly confirming we have power. I have carried out resetting the SMC controller and still no change. Tested the standby voltage on the magsafe pins etc, all in spec. What should I do now, as I don't want to keep spending more and more. Bellow is the info from the system profiler.

Please provide some more information. What charger are you using? Are you connected to a wall outlet or to a computer or hub? If you're connected to a computer, is it a high powered hub? Are you using your iPad while charging?

  • DV4170US - new battery not charging

My first battery had progressively shorter battery life, so I replaced it with an after-market battery.  That worked for over a year.  Then, it wouldn't charge.  I was able to use the laptop with the charger attached, but the battery would not charge.  I bought another after-market battery.  This worked for a few weeks only, then would not charge.
I've tried removing the battery, booting the laptop with charger attached, shutting down, reinstalling the battery - the "charging" (lightning bolt) indicator lights up for a second ro two then goes off.  I also tried booting the laptop then installing the battery with it on - same result.
I also tried the HP battery assessment utility - it indicated that the battery could not be analyzed or something to that effect.
FWIW, the battery and fan exhaust have always been very hot on this machine.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.  This is still a really good laptop with plenty of life left in it.

    Bostonc,
Thanks so much for your post! I am definitely sorry that you are having these continued issues with the battery on your notebook.
After updating bios and running the battery check, unfortunately there isn't much that can be done in the way of troubleshooting.
I definitely suggest purchasing your next battery from HP, if only so you receive the 1 yr or 300 cycle warranty with the battery.  If it happens to a new HP battery during the warranty time, I would definitely check further with the notebook. Without any other symptoms, I wouldn't necessarily assume that the issue is beyond just the battery.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not HP.

  • Battery is not charging after buying new charger for Qosmio X300

    Hello all
My problem started when the charger of my laptop toshiba qosmio x300-130 made a strange noise and stoped working . laptop stayed on and was working perfectly as the battery was full .
I cloused pc and opened again next day to check my mails and then cloused it again .
the charger was off so i ordered one new charger from the company that support toshiba laptops in greece .
After 5 days i received the new charger from theyr offices . run home and pluged it but something was wrong . the battery isnt charging ! windows giving me message that battery exists but not charging !
The battery light of the computer lights up when i put the power on but after few seconds start blink and then it go off .
Also when i operate pc with battery on it it start making the noice that battery is low and then it turns off even that it is on power with the charger .
I went back to the company and they tald me that the charger is fine and that the battery just died couse it was her time to die !!! any one can help me ?

    > I went back to the company and they tald me that the charger is fine and that the battery just died couse it was her time to die !!!
Well, can you use the notebook without the battery but only in connection with the AC adaptor?
If yes, then the AC adaptor is OK and fully compatible.
The Ac Adaptor should support the 19V and 9,5A
The Ampere (A) value could be a little bit different. This is no matter but the Volt (V) value has to be the same 19V
In your case the battery could be faulty or there is some problem with power supply electronic on the motherboard.
But I think the battery should be checked firstly

  • Why would new battery not charge?

I have an iPhone 5 with a 1 year history of good behavior.  I recently transferred my Sony-manufactured battery (date code=08/2014) to my daughter's iPhone 5 so that she could make an outbound airplane flight with a functioning phone.
There was evidence that daughter's battery had died, not been subjected to a bad or uncertified charger.  It would not charge on my known good chargers.  Her Lightning port was not full of lint.  After I transferred my good battery to her phone, her phone worked fine and she was on her way.
I discarded her suspect battery and installed a new one in my phone. Acquired from a well known supplier of batteries, t was a Sony-manufactured battery with a date code nearly identical to mine.  My phone booted up fine and showed 45% cell charge.  As the hours passed, the state of charge gauge indicated showed a battery of normal endurance.
However, at the end of the day this new battery will not accept a charge in my phone.
I am using the same known good chargers that I used previously.  I am an experienced iPhone disassembler.  My Lightning port is not "linted-up".  I admit that Apple's fine-pitch PCB connectors are a challenge even for experienced disassemblers but I believe that this battery transplant went OK.
    Any ideas?
If I did, in fact, damage the battery connector during transplant, wouldn't the phone have squawked error messages before refusing to charge.  There were no error messages or hints that the battery transplant had problems.

So, to clarify, you've opened up the iPhone, and replaced the battery yourself?
Are you an Apple Authorized Service Technician?
Apple doe snot supply batteries to third-parties.  Any iPhone battery you acquired is either:
    A) Counterfeit
    B) Stolen
    C) Salvaged from another unit.
Additionally, unless you are an AAST and were using an Apple-supplied battery, your device warranty and support is permanently voided.

  • New laptop not charge battery

I just bought Pro book 440 g1 for 2 day, and now i can not charge the battery.
    1. when the laptop power off, the battery led is not light, and not charge ( i see the battery 97% in windows, after 30 minutes, it's still 97%).
    2. when i am in windows, the power manage said that "it's pluged in but not charging", and my laptop use AC power not battery.
    I've tried:
    1. unistall microsoft battery driver and re install the driver but it's not work.
    2. try to remove the battery then press power button in 1 minutes, and put the battery in, when i put battery in see the battery led light only once, then plugin in adapter but it's not work.
    3. The adapter is woking well.
Please help me! Why the new laptop have problem.

Certainly. Assuming you have being using this PowerBook for some time, I would recommend first backing up any important files to CD, DVD, or external drive, as you will be completely erasing the contents of the hard drive using my method.
The discs that came with your PowerBook should include one labelled something like "PowerBook G4 15-inch and 17-inch Mac OS X Install Disc 1". If you insert this disc into your PowerBook, you will see an application on the disc entitled "Install Mac OS X" (or similar). If you run this program, it will restart your PowerBook and enter the OS X installer.
During the process of going through this installer, at some stage (I can't remember exactly when) a button entitled "Customize" or "Options" will appear. If you click on this, it will give you several options for your new install of OS X - "Upgrade and Install", "Archive and Install", and "Erase and Install".
I don't personally know if the other two would have any effect on your battery issues, as I haven't tried them myself in regard to this particular program. Again, I must stress that if you follow this method you will erase all data from your hard drive during the process, and lose any of your documents etc. I would recommend backing up all of your data prior to trying this as a method. The Apple Store or AppleCare may also be able to offer more information on the Erase & Install method or backing up your data.
I hope that's of some use to you,
    Tim Whitmore
