Battery is not charging when adapter has been plugged in

my macbook is not charging eventho i plug in the power adapter.i can still on my macbook only when the adapter is plug in..n on the top right corner where they show the battery sign is showing a 'x' in my battery icon..if i take the adapter away,my whole macbook will just shut down. whats goin on?

I agree. I think what I will be doing is shutting the computer totally off when I'm not using it because the bottom seems to get way too warm.(when I get the new battery, that is) I called and they are sending me a new one at least.
This has happened now to me for the second time. My
MacBook will bi 1 this May. I had this happen for
the first time in Dec. The store replaced my battery.
It wouldn't take a charge. Now lastnight I had to
replace my mag charger due to at the mag connection
the wire was damaged and heating up so much that it
started melting. When I plugged in the new mag
supply the X appeared (In the About this Mac under
Power: Battery Installed: No). In my I did the 3
suggested "fixes" and the lovely X is still there.
I guess it is time to go back to the store for yet
another battery. This is very crazy. Something
should be looked at on these batteries.

  • MBA battery does not charge when connected. Help!

My MBA battery does not charge when connected to the charger. Ive checked the other threads and followed advice but nothing seems to help.. My battery health info is good, I've tried cleaning the magnetic pins of the charger, reset smc but it still does not charge. The light on the charger is green or does not come on sometimes, and it's the same for a few Power outlets. What else can I do? Would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks.

It recognizes the charger intermittently. After cleaning, it showed the charger as connected but not charging the battery. I will try my friends charger later to see if it works. Thanks for your help!

  • Droid X battery  will not charge when phone is in vehicle mount

Droid X battery will not charge when phone is in vehicle mount. If you plug phone directly in to car charger it charges fine. This makes using the GPS virtually useless as it runs down the battery very fast. Anyone else have this problem. Other wise I love the phone.

Many of the Verizon Droid X car mounts have defective wires in them. This problem is widely reported on many forums and websites. You should return your product for a brand new replacement that is not defective  (that is, the car charger will charge your Droid X when it is in the car mount).
I happen to love the Verizon Droid X car mount. Lot of ways to adjust it from different angles for different placements. Just get a Verizon Droid X car mount replacement that does not have defective wires in it, and it should work just fine!

  • Battery does not charge when asleep

Ever since I upgraded to Tiger my PowerBook battery does not charge when it is asleep and the display is closed. It only charges when the computer is active and display is up. Anyone else experiencing this? Solutions/work arounds??

Hi, Donald. Try resetting your Power Manager, and you might also trash the preference file com.apple.PowerManagement.plist. If you trash the pref file, be sure to restart and reset your preferred Energy Saver settings afterward.

    1. Reset iPad
    2. Try another wall socket
    3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)

  • HP Envy Battery Problems - not charging when on, charging fully when off

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

  • Battery does not charge when my Satelite Pro L500 is off

    Hi.
I have a Satelite Pro L500. Normally when it is plugged in the DC in and Battery led lights are lit up. Now both are off when it is plugged in and the computer is off. I have found that in this state the battery is not charged. The computer will not switch on while the power is plugged in. If I remove the power source and wait a few mins the computer will now switch on and opperate normally.
If I now plug in the power the leds are lit and the battery is charged

Hm. You mean the notebook does not boot up when AC adaptor is connected but it powers up if the AC adaptor is not connected?
Looks like an hardware issue maybe power supply electronic problem
Of course the AC adaptor should be checked too
L500 is not a very old notebook series and I think the warranty should still be valid
In such case everything should be covered by warranty so dont loose the time and get in contact with an ASP technician

  • My iPhone 4S won't charge. It has been plugged in for 30 minutes and won't ever charge

I have had my iPhone 4S for about 5 months. I plugged it in this morning and it won't charge. It has been on the charger for about 30 minutes and it won't get any charge. I don't know what happened, but nothing changed overnight.

Try a hard reset. Keep holding the buttons down for at least a minute or until you see the Apple logo light up. Make sure your power cord is good. You may had a bad battery.

  • MBP battery will not charge when playing games.

I have a late 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro and have had upgraded 16GB RAM for two years.
An avid Sims 3 player, I have 6 expansion packs and play regularly. I have never had a problem with playing on my MBP.
I had to get a new charger in December and got an Apple certified 60W MagSafe charger for $40 (has serial number, designed in CA, assembled in China, Apple logo, everything). I purchased another one for my Sims-playing roommate as well.
Ever since I've had a new charger my MBP immediately stops charging when I load up the game, and from there the battery life depletes despite staying green. I know that The Sims 3 draws a lot of power, but I have never had a problem with charging while playing. My roommate has an older MBP, even more expansion packs for Sims 3, and yet the same charger that I got for her works fine while playing.
Is it my charger, battery, hardware, or what that is not allowing me to play?
    Thanks!

Some of the heavy gamers do feel the Windows machines are better suited since they can go to the high-end video/graphics support.  But, as you say, that is a big extra expense.  If you are not into that kind of high-end gaming the Mac is fine, the 2011 MBP is a great machine.  I've been using this one since it came out and it is rock solid.
But I don't put a heavy load on it in the gaming area.  I run FORTRAN scientific codes which are heavy loads on the CPU, but not the GPU so there is not that added electrical demand.
An external graphics card does not seem like a real need to me, especially since you would probably then be looking at another monitor, also.  If you are not having any system issues beyond the 60 w charger being undersized, why mess around more than you have to?
    Just my two cents

  • My battery will not charge when plugged in to power supply. What's up??

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro from my college, and have barely had it two months. One morning I started it up and it would not hold a charge. It will not remain on unless it is plugged into the power supply. If I unplug it while it's on it immediately shuts down.
Sometimes if it's plugged into the power supply for a while it will shut itself down un-announced.
I'm very frustrated, mostly because I just bought it and had Snow Leopard installed and everything. The message on my battery status simply says (Not Charging), though the icon says it's fully charged, and the light on the power supply is green. I'm very confused.
Any idea what's going on and how I can fix it? Is the battery simply not connecting, or is it shot already?

As the original post stated, "One morning I started it up and it would not hold a charge. It will not remain on unless it is plugged into the power supply. If I unplug it while it's on it immediately shuts down."
This is exactly what's happened to mine this morning. Last night everything is fine, remember seeing about 5 hrs remaining on the battery, plug it up but this morning will not remain on unless its plugged in. If I unplug it, it immediately shuts down.
My first thought was somehow I didn't plug it up or there was something wrong with the plug itself and the battery was drained but then I realized its working with the power cord so that's not the problem, only when on the battery.
How can a battery just crap out overnight???

  • Macbook Pro-battery does not charge when on standby

Funny thing, I discharged my battery recently and when I plugged my power adaptor I put the computer to hibernation. When I opened the screen the charge was still 15%, same as b4 hibernating. The computer would not charge the battery whenever I close the screen and the problem remains. Anyone had similar problems?

This isn't a normal behavior. Have you verify if the magsafe adaptor was properly connected, i.e. that the amber-LED was on?

  • My iphone 4s is not charging.  It has been on the charger for over 4 hours.

my iphone is not charging.  The screen shows a battery, with sliver of red, and a lightning bolt, while on the charger.  The Apple frequently appears and then disappears and the red batter/lightning bolt appears.
I have tried several different chargers, and neither are working.
I have warranty on my iphone, also eligible for an upgrade on 8/25, which i wanted to get the new iphone 5, and give this phone to my son, and add a line.
I am not sure if i should go to the apple store or the verizon store.  Please advise.
    Thank you!

        Dgnass,
Wow! Let's get this device up and running so it can eventually be passed down to your son. Do you receive any error messages while the device is charging? Are you able to process a soft reset by holding down the power button and the home (menu) button at the same time. We definitely can't have you without a phone.

  • Fully depleted battery does not charge when BlackBerry 10 smartphone is connected to charger or usb

    HI
I have a BB Z10, two days ago while travelling the battery got fully depleted and the phone got turned off. later I connected to the BB charger and the phone wouldn't charge, I tried to connect it to USB but it still wont charge.. just the constant blink of red light. I tried to remove the battery for 2 hours and plugged it back and no luck there. As I need my phone working, I tried to go to a service center but not able to locate the one listed on the BB website, I bought a new
BB Z10 battery and it worked fine. I went back to my place and it took about 1 hour for me and again the battery had discharged and I am with the same problem now. Now when I connect my Z10 to the computer (windows 8.1) I get a red+green slow blinking light and after say 20 minutes it connects to the computer and the phone get switched on... and when I see the phone it says Ëxiting battery saving mode""immediately followed by "turning off device" and the it loops endlessly.
    Please help!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need to use a known working wall outlet, not a USB cable to the PC, as a PC USB outlet normally doesn't have the charging amperage of a wall outlet.
So, connected to the wall outlet, leave it several hours. Then, still connected to the wall outlet, remove the battery a minute and reinsert to reboot.
