Battery issue after 8.3 update

BAttery drains like ****.. Overnight drain increased 1% to 15% after this new update. Cant use phone handy need to be charged after A hour or 2

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • I notice a lot of you started having battery issues after updating to iOS 6....

I'm not saying this could be the reason but I'm about 98% sure it has something to do with it. I have an iPhone 4S and when I first got it, I remember the display was very very bright... i would set it on low and it was still pretty bright. Battery consumption was horrible, I could literally sit there stare at the screen and see the battery percentage drop. Then when some kind of update was released about a month later iOS 4.XX something along the lines... that suppose to fix the issue. I updated my phone and it was fixed. However, it was fixed because my phone got more dimmed.. i could max out the brightness and it was still no where near the brightness of before. And this cause my battery life to be better. However after I updated to iOS 6 the brightness came back, and my battery is rapidly decreasing like it did before. So i'm guessing this had something to do with the battery issues. I'm hope this will help you all. to make your battery last longer, dim your phone, better for your eyes too

I, on the other hand, had no brightness issues on the 4S after upgrading to iOS 6, and no change in (good) battery life.  If could be something else, an app or background process that is less efficient with iOS 6?  Could be anything.

  • I'm having battery issues after updating to OS 10.9.2. Anyone else?

I noticed that my 13 inch late-2011 MacBook Pro has seen a significant decrease in battery life after updating to OS 10.9.2.  For example, I will turn off my wifi and just watch DVD's and the battery life isn't any where near what it used to be. It's only a few hours!  This is awful. My brightness settings are down and I'm not connecting anything into the USB ports and I am not using wifi. Any ideas or anyone else experiencing similiar issues?
    Thank you!

    jrnet154,
have you tried resetting your MacBook Pro’s System Management Controller?

  • Droid Hd battery issues after update

I have a droid hd and ever since the update my battery drains really fast and I don't always get the notification sound or light that I have received a text.  I have done the hard reset and it still  draining  I had it on for 7 hours and 5 of those hours had no activity at all it was at about 90% then went to like 32%.  With the phone having no activity at all the phone should of still been very well charged.   I am really disappointed with this update and I know I am not the only one

Hello jodster70! I don't want you having any issues with your device. I know how important it is for your device to hold a charge. I'd like to ask a couple of questions, so we can get to the root cause of the issue.
Before the update, what was your battery life like? In addition, when you mentioned the battery drain, did the screen show 90%, then just changed to 32%? Or did you use the phone (even for just a minute) and the battery drained?
Please supply me with some additional information. I'm sure we can help you with a resolution.
    Thanks,

  • Battery drain after 2.2 update (Exchange Active Sync users or those who use a calendar on the phone)

A lot of folks are having "issues" with battery life after the over the air (OTA) update and there has been much speculation as to the cause.  My frustrattion level increased with each new post I read that did not reveal a resolution.  The back and forth banter about FTC complaints (that was an interesting escape from the battery problem but not very helpful), new apps running from startup (I don't like 'em either), Linux really working better with all these programs running (don't really care as long as the battery level isn't drained after an hour of just sitting on the counter) just made matters worse.
I would like to share with you my experience and hope that it helps some of you who have taken the time to read my post.  First, let me say that the cause is not due the the "bloatware" applications that were installed during the OTA update.
Secondly, the primary purpose of my handheld is for voice calls but running close behind is my need for immediate email, contacts and calendar information (which is configured through Exchange Active Sync).  If you are not using your phone with Active Sync or updating a remote calendar like Google), you can stop reading this post.
I noticed that the yin/yang (sync) icon at the top of my screen kept popping up more than usual after the update.  Looking through the items I have set to sync (Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync), I reviewed all the things I have set and disabled the sync settings for the things I did not want.  After disabling the "Backup Assistant", "Google", "News", "Stocks" and "Weather", I thought for sure the issue would be resolved.  Not yet.  When those adjustments didn't change the frequency of the sync, I decided to look at the Exchange Active Sync and to my surprise, the culprit was revealed - the calendar was stuck in a sync loop (syncing over and over).  I disabled the "Sync Calendar" feature and the phone stopped it's maddening attempt to refresh the calendar.
I let the phone cool off and thought that I could get by with manually toggling the option to sync the calendar but I couldn't accept that was the only way this thing would work.  I removed the Exchange Active Sync account and created a new one.  After the new account was verified, it attempted to sync mail, contacts and calendar but this time, there was a error that occured during the calendar sync.  Instead of repeatedly attempting to re-sync, an error message that stated "Client/Server conversion error".  At this point, the calendar sync loop was no longer a problem (wasnt' draining the battery) but now my calendar wouldn't sync at all.
To fix it, I cleared the data in the Calendar applications (Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All [tab at the top]). Scroll down the list and open each of the Calendar items and click the "Clear Data" button.
(Credit goes to "Brenny" at AndroidForums.com for the post that explains how to clear the Calendar Data)
It seems that adjustments made to events before the update were kept in the phones local storage.  After the update, the calendar data in the phone's cache was not matching my remote calendar and appears to have been the cause for my battery drain.  After performing these steps, everything is back to normal.  Good luck!

Super frustrating, I know.  Do you use Exchange Active Sync?
If so, you might be having the same issue that I've explained.  Since making the adjustments (clearing the data from the Active Sync components like mail, contacts and calendar), my battery life is back to normal.
Try clearing the data (see first post in this thread) and let me know what happens.

  • Awful battery life after latest OTA update

I've owned my Bionic for about 16 months now, and up until recently, have been very pleased.  After the initial Jelly Bean update, I was enjoying the best battery life I had ever experienced, up to 20+ hours with moderate use throughout the day.  However, the latest over the air update (I remember hearing my phone restart itself after the update in the middle of the night), my battery life has suffered dramatically.  At first, I thought the battery was bad, so I ordered a new one, but the problem persisted.  I searched online and discovered others were experiencing similar issues after updates.  I have tried various solutions, included wiping the cache, deleting apps one at a time to determine a culprit, and eventually even a FDR, but none have helped.
I am almost positive the issue is stemming from "wakelocks" and other things waking my phone up again and again, even with the display off.  My battery will drain from 100% to 40% as I sleep at night, even with WIFI and data disabled.  The battery stats show Android OS and/or Display (they alternate) as the leaders for my battery usage, usually around 40-50%, which is much higher than it used to be.
I have become increasingly frustrated with this issue, as there seems to be no known solution other than getting a new phone.  I find it almost inexplicable that an update could go out that causes such problems.  My phone has basically been rendered to a tethered device, as I can't go more than 8-10 hours without recharging.  If there are any known solutions, or if I can possibly receive a new Bionic, please let me know.
    Thanks.

After the Google logo appears and I try to go to step 5, I get the green
little robot on his back, 'tummy' open with a red triangle and exclamation
mark in it....and it stays there for a long time???
    Then the phone reboots....problems stay.
I do not know who you are Kevin but I was at the Verizon store on Friday
and I was told to call customer service as they are not responsible for the
    software...it's Samsung's problem!?
I am a +$300 a month client and this is the service I get!
I will close my account, pay whatever it takes and go someplace else if
this doesn't get fixed fast...this did not happen on my request and I'm
    stuck with it.
    Respectfully,
Steve <Personal information removed per the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service.>

  • Severe battery drain after last verizon update

After the last update for my phone I have been experiencing around 10% battery drain an hour with moderate to low usage.  I have already done 2 factory resets and formatting my SD card.  I have disabled GPS, WIFI, Global access, Google now and everything else that i can find that could cause a drain.  I have even gone and disabled/uninstalled all apps that I don't use.  That didn't fix anything.  I started to suspect that my battery was bad.  Ordered a new from Samsung and charged it all night on there spare battery charger before using it.  It actually seems to be draining even faster, after 45 minutes I was already at 88%.  During that period I sent about a dozen texts and checked email and the weather.   So I don't believe its the battery.  Any suggestions to help resolve this will be greatly appreciated.

likegod04, thank for posting. Are you still having battery issues? If so, then next option will be to replace the device. How long have you had it? Is there any physical or water damaged done to the phone?^SP

  • Distiller 9 issue after a new update to Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 9.3)

After installing the update, I was asked to reboot my HP Pavilion dv9617nr Notebook Computer (Windows Vista Home Edition). After the reboot, I was given an error message which explained that the ICC Color profiles in Adobe Distiller 9 could not be found and that I should reinstall my Adobe Acrobat 9 software. My question is: Yes I probably should reinstall my software but this will only be a temporary solution that will become a redundant problem when I again attempt the same update that caused the probllem initially. How can I simply back out the update? What if anything has been done to replace the update that caused the problem. Has there been any posts to this or other forums about this update problem? Please help me resolve this issue.

Adobe Tech support was most helpful on this.  First download the updated
    Distiller ICC profile files at:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4075&fileID= 3790
Unzip the file and copy only the *.icc files (without regard to the subfolders that they are in - in other words, take the files out of each of the subfolders) to the followng folder in Windows 7:
    c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color
These new files will probably overwrite some old ones.
This solved the problem for me.
This is actually the best solution though I found that instead of copying all the .icc files to the windows\sys...  folder, all you need to do is copy the 3 Video files from the RGB folder (VideoHD.icc, VideoNTSC.icc, and VideoPAL.icc).  Once you add these three files to  c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color  you will be good to go.
It seems that this was an error on the part of Adobe in that there is no reason to include Video files for printing.  Nevertheless, the distiller will look for these and return the ICC profile error message if those files are not present.

  • Erratic Battery Behavior after 2.0 Update

Ever since my I updated to the 2.0 firmware my battery life is horrible. I have a nearly full charge and put my ipod to sleep at the end of the day. I get up the next morning and the battery is so drained the ipod won't start up until I plug it into a computer. what gives? Do I have a defective battery? I just got this thing in May. It shouldn't be having a problem like this. I want to take it to a genius bar but I'm afraid they're just going to tell me the battery issue is from wear and tear. I do have apple care on this.
    anyone else having this problem?

No, it`s really simple, hold your finger on an icon for a few seconds before they start to wriggle, and hit Delete, or "X" i`m not sure.

  • I Have been getting BAD battery life after the ICS UPDATE !! on the DROID RAZAR MAXX have this happen to any one else ??????

i have been getting really bad battery life after install ICS on my droid razar maxx i can only go 1 day and 3 hours where i used to be able to go 2 day easy have this happen to anyone else can someone tell me how i can make my battery life better??????/ and do i need to let my phone go complete dead before fully chargeing it again ??????
before install the ICS update i had 30 percent of battery life remaining so i pluged it in and let charged for a little bit while it updated my phone and ever thing after it updated i unplug my phone and started playing on my phone to see what ICS was all about but when it got to 15 and said " connect to your changer so i did !!!!! should i haved let my phone going complete dead since i unplug without it fully changer or does it matter ?????????????? if someone could please help me !!!!:)

What was your battery reading right after the update when you unplugged the phone? I have never let my Maxx drain further than 20% battery ever before I charge it. Yesterday after the update I also played more with the phone trying to learn the OS, as did most everyone on this forum. Give it a few days of your normal use before you decide your battery life has decreased. I took my phone off charger today at noon, it was 100%, and now it's 80%, with about 30 min talk time, and mostly standby. that's about normal batt life for me, maybe a little better than before the update. I'm still going to watch it for a few days before I make a conclusion about battery life.

  • Pathetic Battery Runtime after SMC 2 Update

    Hey all,
I was very happy when I purchased my brand new MacBook Air latest edition (2013) back in May 2014. It used to give me over 14 hours of run time ALL the time and used to go upto 17hrs if I used to turn the keyboard backlight off and bring the screen brightness close to 35%. After the SMC 2.0 update, I've been very unhappy after what the update did to my notebook. Even EFI update didn't help at all. I contacted Apple customer care after 24 hours of update and they said nothing wrong has happened and everything will be back to normal once Spotlight is done re-indexing. Well, today I saw Spotlight running and it ate up my 100% fully charged notebook battery within 1 and a half hour. After disabling Spotlight completely via Terminal, the notebook is hardly lasting 4 hours now running the same apps that I used to run before and even for it to last 4 hours, I need to bring the brightness down to 20% and turn the keyboard backlight off. WTH?!
I use several Apple devices and excluding iOS devices, everytime Apple has updated something major (OS, firmware), they completely screw up my brand new machines. I had bought a brand new dual-core i5 Mac Mini just a month before Mavericks update showed up and before that, the machine was lightning fast in everything (with 8GB RAM) and after the udpate, it has become so slow it takes 4 minutes to boot up (without any single startup apps running) and then doing everything takes some seconds to respond. Nothing that I did helped to make it faster and had to finally purchase another fresh brand new Mac Mini after a few months while the old one (which was only a month old at the time Mavericks was released) is now eating dust.
I'm very annoyed by this, Apple, when I have to waste hours and days hopelessly trying to fix my brand new machines instead of getting work done. I'm including the URL of a screenshot (http://www.coddent.com/media/macbook-air-snaphost.png) which shows how pathetic my MacBook Air's condition is now (which makes me want to smash both my head and the Air with a hammer). Safari was running with 3 simple tabs with very simple text content pages at the time I took the snapshot. Sublime Text was running with 2 tabs open and was minimized. Terminal was minimized with no commands running.
Can anyone from Apple tell me what should I do with my Apple machines? I have always bragged about how nice Apple products are after buying each of them and have recommended your machines to several of my contacts who ended up buying one or other Mac products and then these type of horrible things start happening with my machines after any major update. How do you think I feel about your company in this type of situation?
Is there any solution for this or you want me to buy another MacBook Air now (which I'm totally not going to buy again, not a single Apple product anymore if this problem persists)?
    EDIT: updated the screenshot URL.

    Hi PlotinusVeritas,
Thanks for trying to calm people down about this battery/spotlight problem, although I'm still annoyed that they have such awesome software developers and still nobody gave it a proper thought on balanced file indexing rather than screwing up everything else to finish the indexing. For me, work is more important than the indexing madness which I hardly make a use of (and there are way too many people like me who do the same). It's extreme sad time for humanity if humans (who wrote softwares) can't control the software themselves. Spotlight is one of those softwares that laughs at your face while you're going all crazy trying to figure out what went wrong with your machine and should either be fixed, improved or completely removed from the OS.
In general, I'm a big Apple fan but it troubles me when they take forever to improve softwares like Spotlight. It totally was Spotlight which showed 20% battery left merely 1.5 hrs after fully charging the Air. I've been running the Air on battery since the time I created this thread (and disabled Spotlight) and now everything seems to be fine. Is there any utility that you know of that can allow me to set indexing only when the system is idle and keep it disabled while I'm working?
    Thanks!

  • Matlab font issues after installing Java Update 2

    Hey everyone,
I am a scientist and I use the program Matlab to prepare plots for papers, presentations, etc. I am already a little annoyed that when running matlab on mac there are issues of text content cut off in the figures. More importantly after the java update 2 the matlab font looks HUGE. If you change the font setting, it will look normal, but sometimes shift the text. Does anyone know how to fix this? Matlab provided a fix for the R2008 version, but nothing for the R2007 version. This program is so important to me and my work, I may have to move back to Microsoft or Linux in order to have MatLab produce the plots I need.
Please let me know if there is an efficient way to fix this problem.
    Thanks,
    Casey

    Hi clamarche,
I have the same problem on my dual quad-core MacPro after updating Java to Java Update 3. All of my font settings were reset. However when I change the font from 12 pt to say 10pt the cursor moves as if the 12 pt font is still used so it does not line up with any characters once a few characters into the line.
I have tried removing all of my preferences and global matlab preferences, but no luck. I have not applied the Java Update 3 to my 17" MacBookPro as to avoid this problem. What version of Matlab are you using? I have R2007b.
As for text being cut-off from your plots, I have found a small but important note to do with the '-r' option for the print command. On the Mac OS X platform, for some unknown reason you should always set the resolution to '-r72'. This has fixed the problem for me. I had the same problem when saving figures as png's that were to be used later to make an animation. All of the scaling was funny until I set the resolution to 72.
I am hoping that I can find as solution. Maybe clearing the Java preferences, where ever they may be.

  • Pages having Korean font issues after iOS 7 update.

iWork on my ipad and iphone cannot handle Korean font after iOS 7 update.  It displays Korean correctly in those documents I created before the recent iOS 7 update, but breaks down as soon as I try to edit them.  Anyone has the same problem with international fonts?  Is there anyway to fix the problem? Is it an iWork issue or the iOS 7 issue?  It certainly does not look like a hardware issue, because other apps work fine indeed.

You should report this to Apple (as others have):

  • Issues after the last update Lumia 920, can't see ...

    Hi.
I have this issue after the update.  I do not know what's wrong but I can not see my recent calls. Neither can see my sms is sent or the ones I have taken back.
I have tried to call one of my friends. I can hear them but they can not hear me. I have also checked with my operator and they do not have the disruption will harm the network.
So what's really wrong? This happened after the last update I did. Living in Sweden, Gävle uses Tele2 comviq simcard.

When did you update? Have you tried simply rebooting your phone by pressing and holding both Vol down + power buttons for around 10 seconds until the phone vibrates? If that doesn't work, you could try resetting your phone but make sure you backup your data beforehand.
