Battery issue for Video ipod

after watching videos on my ipod, the battery seems to drain a little too much. for example, an episode of friends which is 23 mins long, takes away half the battery life. surely this is not normal. anyone know if and how i can solve this. do i need to take it to the apple store to change the battery and how much does that cost???

Nevermind.

  • Forget the battery issue for a moment,

I think the battery issue will be fixed, I think there are many reasons for it, I'm not going to speculate. What I would like to know is if you can forget the battery issue for a moment, What do you think of the 4S itself, the camera, mirroring onto apple tv etc...have you been happy with the phone and its functions and if it didn't have a battery issue right now would you reccomend it? I'm thinking about buying two of them and that is a substantial investment, just wondering if it's everything its cracked up to be...Thanks!

Yeah it's a good phone.  It's my first iPhone.  I came from a Droid Bionic, so I am use to no battery life.  I usually charge it at my desk at work and it last all night until I get back to work.  I listen to music on my car, so it's tied to the USB input to my car, so I don't really have an issue with the battery.
The camera is really good.  For a point and click, it's fast and the pictures are clear.  They only thing I run into, which is on every phone camera is smudges on the lense.
It took a lot of getting use to going from the Bionic 4.3" screen to the 3.5" screen.
I don't have the Aple TV set up, so I can't answer that.
What I like about Apple products?  They work.  Very simply, they just work.

  • Will there be an update for video iPods?

Looking at all the new iPods (nano & classic) there is a revamp to the interface. From what I can tell there is no difference between iPod with Video and iPod classic (Other than storage capacities and build materials). So hypothetically the new interface with coverflow should work on the iPods with video right? Does any one know if apple intends to have an update for video iPods?

Could I please make one thing clear, I am not prepared to turn this into a "slanging" match. The comments I made are valid comments and I have in no way insulted anybody in this discussion and would appreciate the same.
Firstly my comments of "I'm sure that Apple would be able to bring an update to 5th gen ipods to include the new and exciting features they have announced?" it is a simple comment, of which you have questioned in a manner to which I'm not sure; why you have done so? Are people out there saying it is in no way possible to roll back these great features to the 5th gen ipods? The human race have completed many amazing feets, but I guess cover flow on a 5th gen ipod is just a step too far?
Your crued observation of me using the word rhetorical is confusing to say the very least. A rhetorical question is one you already know the answer too, therefore it may be viewed as a question but is in fact a statement.
The third comment, i will agree with you upon. I have jumped to a conclusion, but, for what other reason would Apple not roll these exciting features onto the 5th gen ipods for, other than; they want you to buy the new ipods? Which in itself validates my point, I do not feel the need to own 2 large storage devices.
4th comment, "I would certainly never defend bad support. However, Apple has provided excellent support. Your whining is completely unrelated to support". Very constructive!
Finally the 5th comment. I will repeat my self:
"The human race have completed many amazing feets, but I guess cover flow on a 5th gen ipod is just a step too far?"
At no point have I confessed to being an ipod software creator, but I'm sure the lovely people at Apple could perform this feet........if they wanted too?

  • Best battery time for video

Some users in far-east asia are reporting that 60GB model battery time is 6 ~ 7 hrs for continuous video play back, and 30GB model is showing 3.5 ~ 4 hrs video play time.
(Yep, music play time is not an issue at all because it's 10 times of video play time, as you guess.)
However, according to the posts, encoded video files should be very well optimized to iPod video performance, which means that, I guess, some specific video encoding settings are very critical for the battery time.
Well I wish I can figure out what's the best settings.
    My 30GB model showed 2 hrs video play time for .mp4, 368x192, 30fps, 768kbps, 44kHz, 128kbps movie.
If anybody can post your experience, it would be helpful.
    Thanks,

Other people said that H.264 is the most optimized vifeo format for 5G iPOD. So H.264 format consumes less power than mp4 format. Is that correct?
    Any comments are welcome.

  • Microphones for video iPods finally available

I just got a Belkin TuneTalk Stereo mic for my iPod and am pretty happy with the sound quality of the built-in mic. I also have a couple of Audio-Technica self-powered lapel mics that I'd previously used with a camcorder--using a splitter, I can record an interview with one mono mic in each stereo channel. This way, if I need to, I can equalize the volumes before bouncing it down to a mono podcast. The problem is that the external mics are considerably quieter than the built-in mic. Have others had experience using external mics with video iPod adapters? I'm curious how other mics and other adapters work.

Marina, I wouldn't bother with high-quality mode for lectures. For the last podcast I did, the built-in mic with low-quality mono sounded just fine. I think the limits depend on your sound quality setting, your battery charge, and your available hard drive space. I'm sure the review meant after 90 minutes you'd have to stop recording until you either offloaded your sound file or recharged the battery (don't really know which). The iPod caches the sound to memory, then writes it to the hard drive as needed, so I'm certain they didn't mean stop and restart. I have a 60G iPod with about 20G free, so I can record a lot of interviews, but they tend to be 20 minutes or so each (in low-quality mono), so I've never come close to hitting the limit. I think the reviews at ilounge.com are pretty extensive, and should provide more info on your expected recording length. If you have a laptop and care to connect the iPod to it via USB, it'll work off of the laptop's battery, which could give you a longer recording, but again limited by your iPod's available hard drive space. Hope that helps.

  • What are the best external backup battery choices for the iPod Touch 4G?

    Hello,
I am so disappointed with the battery life on my iPod Touch 4G, even when I turn off location services and notifications and put it in airplane mode.
As such, I realize that I am going to have to get an external backup battery, even though I don't like the idea of carrying around yet another item.
What are the best choices out there, especially any ultra-portable (aka small and non-bulky) ones?  I came across this Juice Pack Air - iPod Touch 4G Case, which seems like the perfect solution, but it is on back order and seems to have been so for a good amount of time.  Who knows when it will be in stock again.
TIA for any and all help!

  • Help with converting WMV files to quicktime movies for video ipod.

Is there a way to convert my movies that play with the windows media player to a movie file that Quicktime Pro can use to export to my video ipod?
I am running windows xp, can anyone help??

File size is dicated by the bitrate of the file. From my review of (thousands) of WMV files there appears to be some compression in the WMV format that is not reapplied when save as to a MOV container is performed. You can see in get info the WMV file say 100MB has maybe 125-150MB of data when it is fully loaded in Quicktime.
Thus save as does not apply the WMV compression the same as native WMV is all I can assume and the new QT file (MOV container) is bigger than the source file is.
Exporting to any new QT format (say H264) is going to make a file that is dependent on the new QT bitrate you select but if it is higher than the bitrate shown in the Get Info Inspector box when the original WMV has been opened it will be bigger without a doubt. So if you have a 3Mb/sec WMV file that you export to 700 kb/sec for iPod basic it should be 1/4 of the size. Use 5Mb/sec fo Apple TV it should be 2/3 larger.
I rarely use QT Pro to export and when I do I don't use default settings. I prefer MPEG Streamclip which offers easier control of variables, batch file processing, deinterlacing and other things and it is free.

  • HP LTO-6 Compression issues for video files

    Hi there,
My client is having major issues with the HP 6250 LTO-6 external tape drive, with HP LTO-6 tapes.
We are backing up video files and getting zero compression even tho it has been enabled on the yosemite software. The tapes also show a compression of 2.5TB but we need the extra compression as this is for video systems.
Can someone assist with this ? is it because we are trying to compress video files ?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi @cortesvlm ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b002ee Notebook and the need to compression bypass on the Beats Audio Software .
To enable or disable Beats Audio, press the fn key in combination with the b key. The Jack does have influence on the Beats Audio which might need to be turned off. This will help and you can turn it off and on as you need it.
Here is a document on how to uninstall software. The bottom link shows you how to disable software.
    Hope this answers your concerns.
    Thanks.

  • ITunes Movie Artwork Issue For Videos Purchased From iTunes

There appear to be a number of different issues with iTunes and Movie Artwork but my issue seems to be a little different – and I have a workaround for it – so I thought I'd post it here in the hope that it will save someone else some time.
Config:  iMac 27" / Latest Mountain Lion / Itunes 11 *in 64 bit mode*
Issue:  HD movies purchased and downloaded in iTunes won't let me add artwork.  I use 'get info' on the movie in question, select the artwork tab, and then drag a picture across from Google Images.  It appears to work fine.  I collapse the 'get info' window.  To check to see if the artwark was saved, I use the 'get info' command on the same movie.  The artwork is not there.  It was not saved.
    Additional Info:
    1.  I have no problem adding artwork (using the exact same process) to any movies that I've ripped from DVDs using Handbrake.
    2.  I discovered that the movies in question that I downloaded wouldn't play when launched from iTunes.  The failure message said that playback required Quicktime.  I have old and new versions of Quicktime on my Mac.  Didn't seem to make sense.  I researched the failure to play problem and the workaround for that also fixed my artwork problem.
    Workaround:
    1.  Quit out of iTunes.
    2.  In the applications folder, find iTunes, right click the app file and select 'get info'.
    3.  Tick the box that says "open in 32 bit mode".  Collapse the 'get info' window.
    4.  Open iTunes.
    5.  Launch the movie in question.  If you get a failure message, just hit 'cancel'.  The movie will open and begin playing, likely with no sound.
    6.  Quit the movie.
    7.  Select the movie in question and do 'get info' on it.
    8.  Select the artwork tab and drag your artwork into the blank window.  Collapse the 'get info' window.
    9.  Repeat steps 5 through 8 for all the movies you've had trouble with.
    10.  Repeat steps 1 through 4, but this time untick the box that says "open in 32 bit mode".
All your artwork should be ok now, and you should be able to make changes for those files from this point on without using this workaround.
So - my question is, does anyone know why there is an issue with 32-bit vs 64-bit and if there is a way to fix it so this workaround isn't needed?
    Cheers.

I am having this same problem ever since I upgraded to iTunes 7.x. When I was using 6.x, the videos displayed fine but after the upgrade, they were no longer viewable. The audio is skipping and I only receive flashing colors in the panel where the video should be displayed. I am currently using iTunes 7.5 and not only a problem with video display but also can not view album art in the Cover Flow display. Only a series of different colored squares where the album should be displayed. I have two Sony Vaios one works and one does not. The Vaio PCV-RZ34G with 1GB RAM does not work but a Vaio VGC-RB53 with 512MB works fine. I have searched for video driver updates and have not found any solution. The problem only seems to appear with any video played with Quicktime. Video played with other video applications works fine. I have just lived with no quicktime video or cover flow on the PCV-RZ43G. This has been an excellent system with the only problem being the video conflict with quicktime.

  • Why use H.264 over straight MPEG 4 for video ipod?

I'm beginning to rip DVD's to play on my video ipod, as well as exporting
videos I've created in Final Cut Pro to play on the Ipod.
In short, can anyone provide a sort explanation as to why you'd pick
H.264 rather than straight mpeg 4 as the output format, if the only goal
is to play on the Video Ipod?
Is there an advantage of one over the other in either quality, creation time or file size?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

with the new video iPod(5th G) the possibilities of watching videos with a head or eye wear are very attractive. Does any body has any experience with any of the available models out there?. • Are there any current widespread outstanding issues for the iPod touch 3G?

I'm upgrading from a first-gen iPod touch because despite my whole-hearted love for it, its slighter faults like relatively short battery life and limited space, not to mention the fact that it recently likes borking all my headphones, have led me to want to upgrade. But before I upgrade, I'd like to ask if there are any widespread issues surrounding the new device that are widespread but not covered by the mass media? My brother upgraded his iPod nano and now he has to contend with a headphone issue that simply shouldn't exist, thus my question.
And please no mention of the screen exploding. I don't wear spandex undies
