Battery issues done all suggestion

I have just purchased a used 15" powerbook Aluminum 1.67. The PB works fine plugged in. When I unplug it, it shuts down within 5 minutes on battery power(it reads 100% charge). It won't star up on battery power you can hear the start up chime but it shuts down during the chime. Then when I plug it back in, the time and date are set to March 31 1969. I followed the charging procedure of the PRAM battery and left it plugged in without the main battery for more then 5 hours.It didn't work.
Also the adaptor color ring is very random when plugged in. It intermittently switches form amber to green.
its more on green then amber. The battery icon says it not charging but it does very very very slowly and only when it on not in sleep mode or turned off and plugged in. I was told it was a new main battery when I bought it. I have already ordered the replacement PRAM battery. can anyone help with the main battery?
I have done a pmu reset and a pram reset still no luck, should I buy a new main battery? Can I have my main battery tested? I have installed the battery update provided in this post. It won't take the battery update, it tell me that the battery was not updated to reinstall the battery and try again.
I hope I didn't buy a bogus PB......

I took my Powerbook to the Apple store, they replaced the dc board/soundcard and the battery plug to the PB hoping that that will fix the problem. Later that week they call me, while they still had my PB and told me it was the logic board not the dc board or the battery plug. They can send it out to apple and replace it for $325. They said it will be like new. I asked them to give me an evaulation of the powerbook and see if there are other defects. The genius said it had a clean bill of health other than the exsisting problem. I asked if he thought it was really worth the money to fix it and the genius agreed that it was.
What do you guys and gals think? Should I fix it or not?
I have seen PB going for $900 to a $1000 or more on ebay and craigs list. So for $325 I will have like new PB with a 90 Warranty.
Should I do it?
Its a 15" Powerbook Aluminum 1.67 with 1 gig ram and an 80 gig hd no dead pixels and a small dent on the back side.

Powerbook Battery Issue - Don't know what to do...

This is my first post so please let me know if I'm not doing it correctly!!
I have an Aluminum 15" Powerbook G4. I have had this since 2001, when I bought it. I recently updated to OSX. I hadn't used the computer in months and when I went to try and take care of the computer and update to OS 10.4.5 I encountered a problem. When I turned it on nothing happened. I had to turn it off, hit the reset button and then plug in the computer. THe battery was dead so I expected that. But what happened next puzzled me and still does puzzle me.
I managed to get the computer on by holding in the power button. I heard the familiar start up sound(the sound splash if you will) and when that ended I heard this incredibly loud, white noise coming from my speaker. The noise occured about four times. I was in the room with my wife and mother and they both looked at me like 'what the heck was that?"
Now I thought maybe this was an issue with my one battery so I uncovered my second battery and the same thing happened. It won't start up with a battery in there. I took the battery out and found that when it seemed to turn on just fine, I managed to get online and run a complete update. When it came time for the software required restart the computer started up and didn't make any noise at all.
I guess I don't know what to do now. I ran the diagnostics on the computer, from the disk utility and it seemed to come up clean. I don't mind not having the battery in the computer but I don't always want to fix the date and time and the like.
THis is why I'm posting.
I also noticed tonight, when I was charging up the battery that I had to stop and take it with me someplace. When I went to turn it back on, with the battery in and it plugged in the noise came back on and I had to fix the date and time again.

Well, as far as I know the firmware v 1.03.0 is not the correct firmware for this router..so try to flash the firmware to the one available on the website and see whether it makes any difference….

Ori.startnow shows each time I type in improper address. done all suggested solutions to no avail. ran 2 full scans for bugs. nothing'

if i do a full command, like ridenys.com, all works well. but if i just do any improperly defined address, i get page can't be loaded, not found, and something with ori.startnow in it -

god, i love it when i find answers to my own questions! here is a work-around, not really a fix because you have to run this daemon that constantly performs read operations to prevent the drive from going into low power mode - which seems to be the source of this problem. caution: this will drain your battery if you leave computer awake while not plugged in, but this solution darn well beats the issues i was having before with spinning beachball every couple minutes.. i was going crazy! it only eats about 2-3% of cpu usage and i have not had the problem since i installed this daemon which sits in Library\LaunchDaemons (if you want to remove it later.) also the developer leaves his email in the install file and he is very helpful.

TS1702 New iPad 2 5.1.1 won't download apps says 'waiting' I've done all suggestions help!?

I need help. This is my first apple product. Added books in bookstore app. Added instagram and instagram editor app and now it won't let me download anymore apps. It says waiting and app never stays. I'm trying to download fb, etsy, and myfitnesspal. I've turned device off and on. Removed 'waiting' apps and tried to just download etsy app but still not working. PLease help.

Ok, there's a lot here, but something in here might work for you.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
For iOS 6 only ....Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

Thank you for your reply....I actually managed to get it showing in itunes....but couldn't open the phone at all....so took a gamble and got itunes to restore my phone back to factory settings ! which it did...then it restored all the backed up info.....so far so good !!!! phone seems to be working !!! no red lines...! but am still going to take it to the apple store and get them to check it out.......Oh....I lost all the apps I'd bought.....although their on itunes....my phone won't ake them back ??? I can't sync them in ? thanks again though.

HT4528 I have no battery life in my iphone 5 since the iOS 7 upgrade. I have completed all suggestions to help increase the battery power and now I can't use my phone more than 4 hours without the battery dying. What is the solution?

I have no batter in my iphone 5 since upgrading to ios7. I have talked with verizon techinical support and completed all suggestions to maintain the battery. And by the way, these suggestions are annoying and limit phone use as well as require you to close out each application after use, also turning off wi-fi and blue tooth. I don't need this phone if I can't use the features for which it was purchased! Any ideas? Is there a fix coming soon for the battery? Can I return my iphone for my old droid?

Hi! I don't what's happened for your phone but, you can have more battery life with turning of Wifi, decries brightness, turn off location service and etc. also you shold use less Free+Much Ads apps becuase they use more battery than paid apps normaly.

I have the "battery guage jumps all over the place" issue, is it 3.0.1?

I have the issue with the battery guage jumping all over (I have been as high as 77% and as low as 42% in the last 15 minutes)
is there a consensus as to if his is a 3.0.1 issue or a hardware issue? The run time still seems ok, but it can be stressfull not knowing if you have 30 minutes of battery or 3 hours, when you are away from a power source. The issue has kept me from using my phone too much lately which certainly limits the usefullness of the phone.
I did not have the issue with 3.0 but also didn't have the issue with 3.0.1 for the firt 3 weeks I had it.
I have fully drained an charged the battery twice in an attempt to recalibrate it, not in anyway effective.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Kalel, I had the same problem with my black 3 GS.
I got it on the day it was launched here in germany. All the time no problems. Updated to 3.0.1 as soon as it was released. No problems for a bunch of weeks.
Then, one day the battery was completely run down over night from 56%.
After a 100% charge I had jumps in the battery status as you reported about it.
I went to a T-Mobile-Store and got a new SIM-Card. Didn´t help. Then I made a restore to new phone. And I didn´t installed the Facebook App again. As this was the only thing I changed before the problem occured; an update of the facebook-App.
Since then I didn´t had the problem. Sometimes the battery goes up for 2-3%. For example I look for new SMS, and it´s 80%. I check again ten minutes later and it´s down to 78%. Then it might be 5 minutes later back to 80%. But that happens only sometimes. Let´s say one or two times a day.
So far the battery-jump-problem seems to be solved in my case. I don´t reach the 300 hours standby as by Apple mentioned. I would be VERY glad to reach 150 hours. But I never reached this times. I don´t know. Perhaps I call the Apple Service and talk to them.

TS1398 I can no longer connect to my home wireless on my ipad2, have done all the suggested fixes, still cannot connect. Daughter cannot connect her iPod, but husbands laptop is connected to wireless.

All of a sudden my ipad will not connect to our home wireless. I have reset the wireless settings, turned my ipad off and back on, turned off wireless and back on, basically have done all of the fixes suggested and still I cannot connect. My daughter cannot connect her iPod either, but my husbands laptop can and is connected to our wireless. The wireless is working and until two days ago I had no problems connecting.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Facebook doesn't load in ff or IE....sometimes I can get it by doing other things and then some of the games don't load completely ....have done all updates so what could be the issue

facebook is my homepage in ff.so I login and then my homepage doesn't load.. ...sometimes I can go to fb help and click on games or other pages and it comes on by way of games usually.....but after a while it goes back off....same way in IE ....have done all updates got all latest versions so what is wrong ....I have read everything on this computer ...it has been this way for nearly 2 weeks now....so please help....even if I get the home page to come up then some game issues face me....loading halfway ...no friends names are showing etc.Please help........

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

I have the same problem as a lot of others. Downloaded version 10.5 of iTunes and can't acess the iTunes store. Done all the things suggested by both Apple support and the website but no result. There is something seriously amiss.

what do you do after you have done all of this and still have no resolved the issue? itunes still will not load, or reinstall. i have updated my computers OS to the posted above settings for Vista. still gives error code 1114. NOTE!: My itunes WORKED JUST FINE UNTIL a new update was ready for download yesterday afternoon.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Downloads disappear. I have done all the suggestions........ getting ready to use another browser......

I go to download and everything seems fine, even in the destination folder. Then once complete it disappears and is not on computer. I have done all the suggestions and reset configurations.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

I just upgraded to Firefox5, and it no longer saves my tabs. I done all the things that your help section suggests, but it still only gives me my start page, and not my tabs

I don't know what else to tell you...my comp used to automatically save whatever tabs I had upon closing. I could click in the top right hand corner: and, when I would open firefox, my tabs would be there.
I have done all the things you suggest. Tried closing from the File menu...nope, went into options and made sure that "save my tabs" was checked (yes it was) no it didn't help.
Also, a lot of my regular pages that I leave open, needed to be (continually) renewed...

A suggestion for those with battery issues:

When I first got my iPhone, I had the same battery issues many people here are talking about, in fact I posted about it myself. Its fixed. Very fixed, and Im very happy with my battery life. Here is what I did.
First, do not charge it using your USB connection. At least not always. Why? I dont know. I did the first few days, and couldnt get a full charge even tho system wasnt going to sleep. I started using the wall charger, and got longer battery life, but still not great. One night, I forwarded the phone to my home phone in case I got a call, and shut the phone down completely, and put it on charge. In the morning, I woke up to a 100% charged, fully glowing battery icon. The battery lasted all day with no issues. Every night after that, I just charged it on the wall charger, but did NOT shut it down to see what happened. I am still waking up every morning to a 100% fully charged battery. The battery life seems to get better daily now.
Today, I ran wifi for about 5 hours because I forgot to shut it off. This was after going to the pool and listening to the iPod on the phone for about 2 hours. And using the phone normally throughout the day, checking mail, sms, etc. Really a full day of work, and my battery is still over 50% full. I purposely didnt connect it to anything during the day for a recharge, not the USB or wall charger.

Here's my non-scientific experiment.
After surprising battery drain for the first 10 days or so with not much usage, I completely drained the battery yesterday until the phone shut off.
I plugged into AC charge and was worried when it didn't seem to even begin charging.
I plugged into USB, assuming it needed to charge enough to at least complete a sync.
I left it on USB until about 5-10% charge, then switched it to AC. At about 50% I needed to use it, so I did but sparingly, and put it back on charge, all the while keeping Mail on manual and WiFi off.
I took it off once more to get it home from the office, then plugged into AC.
I left that charging overnight.
I never actually got the "glow", but did get the plug icon showing full charge in the status bar.
After about 2 1/2 hours this morning, the status has not moved off of 100% (but with little usage as before).
This is definitely an improvement already though. Hope this helps.
