Battery issues, new battery wont help!

When I unplug my power adapter from my MBP it dies instantly. My status on the battery is 'check battery'. I have switched batteries with a friend who has the same model and it still does the same thing. His battery works fine on his identical MBP but doesnt work on mine.
I have the right battery update installed and I have tired resetting every ** thing in the world, but nothing.

  • U330 Battery Issue--New Battery, Still Discharging Fast

Wrote a month or so ago about a faulty U330 battery.  I replaced it with a new one and am having the same issue--rapid discharge. For example, the battery power goes from 100% to 95% within 3 mintues, from 95% to 73% within 15 minutes.  With the original battery, I noticed that its power could stay at 0% for quite some time before the computer shut down. The battery lasts a decently long time, but the real issue is that I pretty much have spontaneous shutdowns since I can't predict the actual power remaining. Could this be a Win 7 issue and not an issue with the battery's actual capacity? Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hey Gurbly,
Curious to know is the replacement battery that you bought is it from Lenovo or is it a generic brand battery ?
If this is a Lenovo battery, might I suggest the following link :
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/Welcome-FAQs-Knowledge-Base/How-can-I-increase-battery-life/ta-p/244800
If the above does not help, could you try the following.
    1. Replacement Battery to be drained.
    2. Replacement Battery to be fully charge. During this time do not turn on the U330
    3. Once fully charge, turn on computer and login to your operating system. Do not launch any application and if possible disable any apps that auto starts.
    4. Change the power management to "do not turn off hard drive and monitor" when battery is used
    5. Adjust screen brightness to 50%
    6. Leave the laptop idle,
    7. Check within 3-5 minutes if the battery level drops from 100% to 95%
    8. record your finding and reply back.

  • G40-70 Battery Life / New Battery?

    Hi all,
I just picked up a G40-70 but was suprised to see that the battery only appears to last for 2 hours.
Is this normal? Can I purcahse a bigger battery for this laptop and if so, does any one have any advice on where to get one online?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joef,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with the low battery life.
As you have mentioned that the battery lasts upto 2 hours, as this model will supports upto 4hours of battery backup.
Type power manager in start search, in the basic mode change the high performance to high energy savings.
Also try to reduce the brightness of the screen and check for the issue, also in advance mode under power plan choose power source optimised option and check for the issue.
Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.
    Best regards,

  • Battery Recall / New Battery is horrible!!!

I signed up for the battery recall for the MacBook Pro 15" and received the replacement battery the next day. The old battery would give me a charge for about 2.5 - 3 hours. On a full charge the new battery only gives me about 1:17 average. What can I do about this?
The only difference is that I upped the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB.

Interesting to read so many mentions of problems with battery serial numbers.
According to Apple my fairly new MBP is entitled to a new battery as the Bat serial number ends with 75B.
When I fill in the on-line form I am told that my battery serial number is either in error or does not need replacement.
Does this mean that some batteries ending in 75B (and the others mentioned by Apple) do not need replacing.
My MPB has a battery life of only about 2 hours - which is about the same as my Xp laptop I have cursed for so long.
My former ivory iBook had a useful battery life of over 5 hours so what we now gain in speed and hype we lose in lap time.
    Anyone else had similar probs?

  • Replaced Battery But NEW Battery still going dead fast

On May 28 2010, I put a NEW battery in my 2007 MacBook Pro3.1 and now this new NEW battery is not holding charge. I charge to 100% and leave off overnight (8 hrs), but still it only runs on battery for about 1.5 hrs before I have to plug in to recharge. Any suggestions? Here is the Power/battery info:
    Model Information:
    Manufacturer: SMP
    Device name: ASMB012
    Pack Lot Code: 0002
    PCB Lot Code: 0000
    Firmware Version: 0110
    Hardware Revision: 0500
    Cell Revision: 0200
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 3331
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 5370
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 24
    Condition: Normal
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1303
    Voltage (mV): 11677
    Thanks.

There is nothing in those numbers to suggest a problem. Did you make sure to calibrate your battery properly? When you say you leave it "off" overnight, are you leaving it plugged in or unplugging? There is no reason not to unplug it while it's sleeping or powered off.
Also, what are you doing while running on battery power? Dim the screen, turn off things like Bluetooth and Airport (if you can), avoid graphics-heavy activities like gaming and videos--these drain your battery much more quickly.
24 cycles is a fair amount for just one month, almost one a day. To make your battery last longer, use it less often and stay on AC power when it's available.

  • Strange power issues - new battery?

When you push the power button, You can hear the fans turning and you hear the startup chime. From here it will either do one of two things: start like normal and show the apple screen or do nothing at all. There isn't much of a pattern to when it will do either except that when I get nothing, shut it down, take out the battery, press the reset button, and put the battery back in it starts up normally. I think that this is an issue with the battery, which I am more than willing to replace. Shuld I? If that's not it, what is the issue?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
It sounds like you are resetting the PMU each time in order to recover. Try doing it in the exact recommended order and see if that makes a difference:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431?viewlocale=en_US
An exceedingly worn battery can cause strange issues, all right, but it could also be a problem with the logic board.
Which model of iBook is this (MHz rating, type of optical drive)?
How big is the hard drive and how much space remains available?
    How much RAM is installed?

  • Battery problems-new battery, but does not work

Help! I have purchased a battery a few months ago. It worked fine for a little while, and then one day, it would not power from the battery. Here is the strange thing-when I plug it in, it regesters the battery as fully charged. I even let my iBook sit for a few days without using it. I plugged it in and it registered my battery as about 95 percent charged, but stilll would not power up. I don't get it! The battery seems good, but it does not power from it. It obviously charges it, but does not power from it. Ahhh! Please help!

Will resetting the PMU erase my hard drive or cause damage to my RAM?
    No
What does it mean when it says Warning: Any RAM disk will be erased. ?
This is an outdated warning since OS X doesn't support RAM disk. A RAM disk is a technique of using some RAM as a pseudo-disk drive.

  • Why does my iphone 3gs shut down when battery gets to 80%?  have installed new battery and nothing changes?

Why does my iphone 3gs shut down when battery shows 80%.  a couple of months ago is shut down at 60% but has continually gotten worse.  this was before 5.0.  i took it to a repair man and he tried a used battery, a new battery, and the original battery.  nothing helped.  5.01 didnt help either.  What is my problem?

Fully discharge the battery (till it shuts down and won't turn on) and then fully recharge it (100%).  This will recalibrate the battery meter.  You may need to do this a few times.

  • Powerbook will not charge my new battery

I have a 15" Powerbook 1.5 w/ a 1.5Ghz processor. I just bought a brand new battery and it will not charge. here are the facts:

    - the battery will not charge, after a week the battery is down to 19%( I keep it pluged in all the time cause I do not want it to completely drain)
    - I have reset the power manager unit

    - I love Apple but they are really getting on my nerves, I have had top send back 2 ipods(one they actually had the balls to charge me for shipping) because of battery issues( the battery would only hold a charge for 20 minutes)
MESSAGE TO APPLE!!! either lower you price or build your products in the USA so we can get quality product. Having to send a computer to you for repair is not the answer, you owe your users more than that for the price you charge.
    sincerly,

My wife bought me a new powerbook for christmas and I got it Jan 3rd 06.
Take it out of the box and set it up. Battery doesn't charge! won't Charge and apparently is a placebo! 2000.00 dollars, and counting. Imagine buying a new car without a battery under the hood! What the is going on??? I Go down to the apple retail store and they have NO 15" power books and no batteries because this is a big problem. They have been authorized to just swap out the computer, and or swap the battery. They are out of both till who knows when, (7 to 10 days ).! On the eve of the MAC WORLD CONFRENCE I am feeling sick about the whole IDEA that these power books were all sent out like this Apple should get them back before they are sent to consumers!! Apple and the reputation they have of being HIGH qaulity and RELIABLE is in trouble. How many class action law suites, POOR MERCHANDISE, ( I SENT BACK A NANO- CRACKED SCREEN and A PHOTO ipod that was purchased last Christmas- 400.00 dollar and a bum battery) Lets not forget the original ipod
LAW SUITE AND ALL, I had one sorry to admit. Qaulity is going down with Qaunity. I'm afraid to see what happens with the NEW intel Computers. It could just get worse. I just wanted to go wireless and I don't have a battery to
do that. So as I watch the mac confrence on my new 2000.00doller computer and am tethered to an Electical out let while getting stream from my new base station, I will certainly be thinking about how APPLE claims their stuff ALWAYS works better than a widows machine.... or does it really?

  • R3000 - New battery reads 77% but won't operate laptop

    Hi,
    Compaq R3000, Celeron 2.8Ghz
This laptop came to me pretty much unused because of a failed Hard Drive. Successfuly replaced hard drive.
Original battery was showing 0% and refusing to charge so I assumed it was faulty (after several years of non-use) and replaced with a compatible battery. New battery is recognized by laptop & read 77% on first boot while running on Mains adaptor. Left charging overnight - in morning charge level still showed 77% but laptop will not run at all on the battery.
    The new battery spec http://www.espow.co.uk/compaq-presario-r3000-laptop-batteries-p-5852.html
Have I got a faulty new battery or might something else be wrong?
    Many thanks.

You will have to restore them to another Mac, TM is not my specialty so I will let another poster take you down that road.
    Good luck

  • TouchSmart tx2-1370us HUGE issues with new battery PLEASE HELP I AM DESPERATE!!!!!

I purchased a new battery for my laptop. I got a LHP-41XT which is supposed to last longer... the following issues I initially thought were because I got a defective battery but I replaced it for another one and they are still happening:
Battery is fully charged. When power cord is disconnected after a random amount of time the computer just dies while the charge does not even get down to 80%. The computer does not even go into the shut down process, it just completely dies.
When trying to turn on the computer with battery it starts to boot up and after a few seconds it completely shuts off. After that no matter how many times I press the bottom to turn it on it just wont even try to turn on. I have to turn it on with the cord.
To try to remediate the problem I have tried and failed the following:
     -  Get a new battery of the same model in case the problem was the battery
     -  Calibrate the battery using every single option there is (changing power profile to "Calibrate," letting the computer discharge completly without using it, letting the computer discharge completly using it, letting the computer discharge completly without using it in while in safe mode) but the computer just keeps on dying.
     -  Change all the power settings so the computer does not hibernate, go into shut down, or does anything when the power levels go down.
     -  Erase completely the battery drives so the computer does not try to detect the battery charge.
     -  Upgraded the computer bios to the latest version
     -  Replaced BIOS battery
Please someone help me I do not know what else to do and I don't want to keep wasting money to try stuff that does not work...

No I haven't and HP seems not to care about the problem so guess what. No more HP's for me anymore....

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully that "new" and "known good" are not necessarily the same...while rare, a new battery can certainly be defective. Further, only by finding someone else with an identical BB with no issues can you actually trade batteries and narrow down if the problem is the battery or your BB.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again

macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again lik it did before

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.
