Battery life "%" indicator missing

Just got my wife's new 16 GB iPhone up and running. No functional issues, but there is no battery % indicator in the upper right corner like mine has.
Any ideas?

Have you set it to show this in the settings?

  • Iphone 3G 3.0 update - battery life indicator

My battery life indicator is frozen at full after update to version 3.0 - its not moving and will just randomly die...it says its full when charging too - does anyone else have this problem/any ideas? Thanks

I have this problem also since V3 - but it is just a display problem, the actual battery life is fine. It most commonly fails to recharge (on the display menubar) though the display on full-screen is fine. A reset restores it but the problem will recur.
More seriously the same problem affects phone connection; we are near the edge of coverage and the menubar will show 'no coverage' even in a strong signal until the phone is reset (it never changes on its own). Sometimes it seems this is true (that is the phone does not connect) other times it seems just the display.

  • Battery life indicator?

Is there a more 'in depth' battery life indicator anywhere?
The battery icon top left isn't that accurate- i'd like to be able to see how much in terms of time i have left- is that do-able?
    Can't find anything in settings...
Also- is there a 'home' shortcut for Safari do you know?

There are utilities for other phones that do this. Yes, it's useful.
Some are pretty simple: just look at the current average discharge rate and level, then figure out the remaining time. Pretty much like your car's computer telling you how many miles of gas are left at your current rate of consumption.
Pretty neat to watch the remaining time change as you turn on/off features.
One thing that surprises me is that no iPhone tech site has yet put a meter in line with the battery to find out once and for all how much power the different radios / features actually use. I've done calculations, but they're pretty rough. I mean, I've seen people claiming that WiFi uses more power than EDGE, and I don't believe it, unless they simply do more surfing because the WiFi is faster.

  • Apple Bluetooth headset battery life indicator drops VERY rapidly

hi all. Just bought the apple Bluetooth headset yesterday. After it is fully charged the battery life indicator drops to half after only being on stanby for about 15 minutes. I tried fully draining it and recharging but no difference. Is this normal? Thanks.

Same issue on two "old" (with dock) Apple BT Headsets purchased on 3G release day. Returned and exchanged for 2 "new" ones (no dock, $30 refund) two weeks later. The new headsets have the same abysmal battery life. Note, however, that the battery life indicator is not terribly accurate - after dropping into the red by the end of the day, if left on standby mine doesn't actually run out of power and shut down for almost 48 hours.
IMHO, if you like the easy pairing and can charge your Apple BT Headset at some point during the day (I used one of the $30 refunds to buy an extra travel cable for work), keep it. If you need to go all day and use the headset heavily, get a different brand.
    Hope this helps...

  • E75 poor battery life indicator

    Hello-
Has anyone experienced problems with the battery meter (and battery life in general) on the E75?  I consistantly have half to 3/4 charge then the meter drops drastically to about 2 bars, then dies shortly after.  This has become increasingly annoying as I never really know how long the phone has left, and have to constantly keep it on the charger.
    Thanks

I have the same issue. The battery life indicator just isn't accurate at all.
However, my battery life so far so good, it lasts 2 days on average, sometimes 3 days if low number of calls/sms.
I found out it's 2 contributors that affect the battery life tremendously. 1 is if bluetooth is left constantly on, it drains battery quite fast. 2 is if I enable my Notes Traveler to auto-sync which utilize the 3.5G data connectivity, it drains battery extremely fast. Less than a day the battery life would be low and requires charging.
Looks like this phone isn't giving good battery life if running heavy data connnectivities.

  • Satellite A - Battery/Power Indicator Missing from Task Bar

My battery/power indicator is missing from the task bar. When I attempt to turn it on, it's grayed out and I don't have the option to select it. I've checked the hidden icons functions, etc. When I searched on google, there were several fixes - but all are way out of my area of expertise.
    Please help!

    Hi
Maybe you have installed an software which affected this Windows option.
It could be also a damage registry entry
Maybe you could clean the OS using CCleaner and repair the registry
Im not quite sure if it will help you but its worth a try

  • Battery life indicator stuck!

Others have posted about a problem similar to mine but I haven't found a solution yet...The indicator of my battery life always says 81% and has the symbol of being plugged in even when it's not. Plugging it in doesn't help, and I've also tried changing the energy settings. It's unsettling not knowing how much battery power I have left and I'm reluctant to mess with the computer by actually taking the battery out. Any suggestions?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

If the indicator is "stuck" like this even when the magsafe adapter is not plugged in then there's only one or two things you could try.
First off, rest your PMU, it has to do with a lot of hardware recognition, and does have influence of battery recognition.
    PMU reset: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
Beyond that, if the issue is still unresolved I'd recommend taking the computer to a local apple retail store or service provider to try popping in a different battery. Obviously if this resolves the issue you can just call applecare and have them send you a new battery. If the issue remains with a new battery then you're looking at a hardware issue with the machine and it'd have to be sent in for service...unless its been 14 days or less since you bought it and you can return it.
Either way, if the issue persists with a new battery then call applecare and explain the entire situation and you'll get fixed up one way or another.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard Battery Life Indicator Not Working

I have a wireless Apple BT aluminum keyboard and have been having horrendous difficulty with it lately. Last time I changed out the batteries was last month, so I thought I would check and see what the battery life was on the current set. Seems that the keyboard is not correctly reporting battery life, because the Keyboard section in the Control Panel is displaying 100% green. I know that can't be true because I use the keyboard frequently and these batteries are at least a month old.
I have also been having severe disconnect problems as of late - to the point where I need to keep a USB keyboard handy. My keyboard connection drops every 5 minutes, usually for 2-3 minutes (and sometimes requiring a re-pair), then it will come back and repeat every keypress once it is reconnected.
Is this keyboard defective? Is there any way of finding out short of hauling my entire iMac & keyboard the 1 hr. North to the closest Genius Bar?
    Thanks.

Try deleting the Bluetooth preference file.
com.apple.Bluetooth.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
As for the disconnect issue. Do you have your computer anywhere near a microwave oven? They can cause interference.
Also, try resetting the System Management Controller, instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1806
Since you are an hour from the nearest Apple store, you might be able to get help from an Apple Macintosh User Group. Check here for locations: http://www.apple.com/usergroups/find/

    Go to Solution.

This is very common on Nokia phones. The battery indicator is not linear.
While in a call or using WiFi or 3G data the phone is draining the battery at a very high rate, so the battery voltage will drop faster than in standby mode, this causes the bars to drop faster.
Anyways, it's like your car fuel gage or if you have a trip computer in your car it gives a prediction based on the current power consumption, if the rate of consumption changes dramatically (like making a phone call) the indicator will need to catch up to this new rate of usage and hence it would seem like it went to 5-6 bars to 1-2 very shortly.
I don't know if this makes sense but this is how I understand it.

  • Battery life in windows 8

There have been many questions posted recently regarding a noticeable change in battery life after installing/upgrading Windows 8.  I would like to provide some tips which may help you extend the life of your battery.
    1.  Ensure that your battery is properly calibrated.
To begin you should make sure your battery is properly calibrated.  This makes sure that the battery is able to determine the correct points which represent 0% charge and 100% charge.  This is a good step to take as it, along with the battery check, will rule out most hardware issues.  This document will walk you through a manual battery calibration.  The next step is to test the battery, which requires HP Support Assistant.
    2.  Use HP’s Battery Check to ensure your battery is in proper working condition.
After you know that the battery is calibrated it is a good idea to ensure there are no other problems with the battery by running a battery check.  This is a feature included in HP Support Assistant.  Visit this site to download the notebook version of HP Support Assistant.  After installing this software select the “Troubleshoot” section and then “Power, Thermal, and Mechanical.”  The battery check is located there.  Here is more information on HP Battery Check.
If the battery passes this check move on to step 3.
    3.  Use HP Support Assistant to download all the needed software for your machine.
The most common cause of the change in battery life is going to be that all of the drivers, software, and other utilities which HP and the hardware manufacturers use to maximize battery life are missing.  HP is currently expecting to support most notebooks which were purchased after October 1, 2011.  This site can tell you if your notebook has been tested with Windows 8 by HP.  However, not all of the utilities and drivers have been released.  If HP Support Assistant is unable to locate some of the software you will want to keep a close eye on support assistant for updates as well as your product's page on HP’s Technical Support Site.
Once you have installed the suggested updates, make sure to reboot the PC.
    4.  Ensure that you have all of the Windows Updates.
Windows 8 has only been out for a week so it is likely you will see updates come out soon.  Make sure you have Windows Update properly configured and that you currently have all updates.  Here is a great article on About.com which covers how to check your Windows Update settings.
    5.  Use Windows to optimize battery usage.
Windows has a very feature rich system which allows you to control how power is consumed by the notebook.  From either the Desktop view or Metro use the key combination Windows+X and select “Power Options.”  This will open the Power Plan window.  I suggest using the “Power Saver” power plan.  However, if you’d like you are able to create your own power plan.   Use the “change advanced power settings” option to customize it for your purposes.  Here is more information from Microsoft on saving battery power.

  • Lumia 710 Remaining Battery Life % Not Correct

I've had my Lumia 710 for a few months now and over the past week the remaining battery life percentage is way wrong.  For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%.  I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me.  A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%.  A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.
This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work.  After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery.  But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that.  Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?  It was accurate the first few months after I got the phone so I don't know what is going on.

    Hi stephwin,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Sounds like they may be something wrong with the battery, especially the sudden battery "deaths" without any prior warning indicate that. We would advise you to visit your local Nokia Care point and let them have a look. Nokia Lumia 710 has a removable battery, so changing it should not be too much of a hassle if it comes to that.
Let us know how you get on,

  • [SOLVED] Gnome 3 Battery Indicator Missing

I've been using Arch on my desktop for a few years now, and as of a couple months ago I'm also running Arch on my HP dv8000t laptop. When i log into Gnome 3 the battery/charge indicator is missing from the icons in the upper right-hand corner. I know it was there for some time just after installing Arch, but since then it seems to have randomly disappeared. I thought I killed it with an update but since nobody else seems to have this problem, I'm not too sure any more. To further confuse things, GDM shows the battery indicator just fine, it's only after I log in that it is missing. This seems to point to it being a problem with some configuration in my home directory, but I don't know enough about gnome 3 to know what hidden folder to look under. Running 'acpi' from the command line gives me a battery percent remaining, but not a remaining time estimate (however, I've never had any OS on this laptop give a remaining time estimate so that's not a big problem for me).
Basically, I'm looking for a) software that might conflict with the icon and cause it to not show up or b) a configuration file where it may have gotten disabled.
After submitting this post, I'm going to create a brand new user and log into it as a test of whether it's a configuration in my home directory or not.
Edit: I just created a new user and the battery indicator worked for it, which means it's probably something with my profile. I also forgot to mention that at the same time as the battery icon disappeared, my volume hotkeys stopped working.

For anyone having similar problems, I discovered there was a permissions issue with my ~/.config/dconf/* files. I ended up just deleting mine and re-setting my settings (since I had only tweaked a couple) but I assume changing permissions back to something that my user could read from would also work.
What baffled me for the longest time was that there weren't (or I couldn't find) any error logs telling me dconf couldn't hit that file, which is why I never thought to check. Anyway, all is well now!

  • Battery meter is missing

My battery on screen meter is missing and my charger has no indicator light

I have a 13" MacBook Air and I am experiencing the same problem here.
Sometimes, when I power up the notebook and connect the charger, the battery indicator shows an X, as saying "no battery installed", and the charger light remains off (it should be red or green!!!). Additionally, the fan stays always ON, never turns off.
The only way I found out to get rid of this behaviour is to disconnect the charger and stay using the machine until the battery life actually expires. Then, when I connect back the charger and I turn on again the computer, the charger red light turns on and the fan stops working.
This is very awkward, because it occurs three or four times in a week and really bothers me a lot.
Any ideas for a good solution? Thx for your attention.

  • IPhone 5s battery life issues

    hi guys
I feel like there is a problem with my iphone 5s. the battery life is really bad compared to my last iphone 5. I used to be able to charge my phone at the end of the day and would till have 40% or 50% left. now with this new iphone, it reaches down to 10% or simply dies by the time I  get home at 6pm. I have turned off everything and i have searched google for all sorts of turn off tweaks so i could get the maximum battery life, but its still really awful. i listen to music for about 20 mins while on the underground train and later i might or might not get a text message or two and that is about it; the phone still yet loses all of its battery life while doing absolutely nothing. today i unplugged it from the charger and it suddenly went down to 99% right in front of my eyes.
i am going to the apple store on Tuesday to ask them if they could check it out. so my question is;  have i missed something here or is everyone's phones are as such but not even one person is talking about it or they just don't care or embarrassed to talk about it, or what ????
btw my last iphone and this one are both 64GB black.
    <Edited By Host>

I have had the 5s for a week now, and I am having the same issue. I have restored the phone three times now, twice through iCloud backup and once through iTunes. I have shut down all functions of the phone as suggested, which is stupid, that's the whole point of having the iPhone, and anytime I do anything with the phone, the battery drains 5 - 10%, and its quick things like, checking email, then quickly closing that app, sending a couple text messages, and listening to one voice mail and I am down to 50 %. Not sure if it is ios7 or a 5s issue, all I know is last week I had a iPhone 4 that I had everything turned on all the time, I checked email constantly, text frequently, made calls and used the Internet and easily went three days without concern. Now I'm scared to check the time for fear of draining battery on the new phone. I also had the  battery completely drain  twice now and then charged it to 100%, and that has not helped either.  I was much better off with my iphone 4 that I could at least use, and wish I had not traded it in at time of purchase. No point in having a phone that I have to disable all functionality and try not to use unless I know I am going to be near a outlet. So disappointed!!!!  First time I have ever been mad enough to make a comment on a forum!

  • Mid-2013 Macbook Air Battery Life has become awful-Not Mavericks related

I have a Mid-2013 Macbook Air that I bought in July. i5, 1.3 GHz, 8GB RAM, 500 GB SSD.  I honestly thought that my horrible battery life was due to the recent upgrade to Mavericks (many MBAir users are having problems with 10.9), so I downgraded to 10.8.5 this AM.  With my backlit keyboard off and the screen at a mid-level of brightness, I am barely getting 2hrs of battery life.  Before I go make an appointment with the Apple Genius, I was wondering whether anyone has any suggestions.  I saw other threads on this issue, but none of them seem to really help.  Below is the EtreCheck file (there seems to be a lot of Symantec traffic, but I am not sure that is the cause).  Also, I am also running  "hidden" so I wonder if the constant location services are draining the battery.  Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks.

    Yes,
After Mavericks install, your "time remaining" WILL BE INACCURATE until you do a SMC reset in many case
    SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
There is a HUGE distinction here about someone getting less batt. life in actuality .......or are they just reading the "time remaining" and using that as a true indicator which is certainly is not.
Ive seen 3 notebooks after SMC reset jump 4+ hours in "time remaining" and slowly climb after 3+ full charge cycles.
Until things settle down, nobody should trust what the 'time remaining' says.
