Battery life ipod touch

I have issues with my ipod touch, I  purchased it new in December  of 2013. Since than I have been to the Apple Genius Bar
five times and I am on my fourth ipod touch. Seriously having problems with the battery life. I use it approximately 1/2 hour per day it seem to continuously lose power when completely shut off. No one has been able to help me resolve this issue. I really want my money back.

I DOUBT that Apple gave her 5 devices. maybe I'm wrong — but now we've been TWICE. but no new or repaired devices. So YES there is a problem— a NEW problem that did not exist when the item was new. problem is there aint many miles on the old girl— its under warranty and now its behavior has changed MARKEDLY. It's nice to be able to write with detailed english. I'm glad you & I can. But honestly man or woman have you EVER walked into an apple store with a problem under warranty and walked out with a new anything once? let alone 5 times? Me ONCE when it was undeniable (dead screen iPhone 4) and the craven bastards wouldn't upgrade— asked me to go to ANOTHER SHOP cause they were out of my model with less memory ON MY DIME— how do i get there genius?. "oh just use your gps!" hey genius THE SCREEN IS DEAD REMEMBER?
Look man or woman— i've "been there done that" a NUMBER of times— and i'm telling you they foot drag or sham us whenever possible—shame on them. Whatare they an insurance company?
NO they are a deluxe gadget OEM.
Again I'm cool with repair but i RESENT them putting it off thereby wasting my time as should you.
NO WIFI NO BLUETOOTH AND NO APPLICATIONS— and standby — no screen on— it dies in a few hours. Something wrong.
Maybe standby was not a week— i never reeked out on it hard enough to know BECAUSE WHY WOULD I? ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK—REMEMBER? its an apple.
but look JEMSTER i'm not here because the gadget is JAKE see?— it SUDDENLY changed.
I am an OEM electronic manufacturer.
I know what i'm talking about.
and i know enough about said contraptions to know that I AINT THE ONLY ONE.
So yeah I restarted.
Yeah i checked the wifi and any other stuff—
yeah i took it to the genius who looks and says oooooou— you have applications on here that explains it—
TWICE NOW
SO i ditch them all (i wash't using them anyway which is part of why i resent the accusational sham therein but fair enough.
My wife goes back and the reload the IOS.
NOT HOLDING my breath but i'll keep ya'll posted.
Look: i got loads of these IOS & OSX devices and i don't use this for ANYTHING but occasionally playing music— maybe once or twice a week.
and I'd bet that in spite of a perceived lack of eloquence the SHOEGIRL has the same trouble.
You think poopertino's stock price gonna be breaking 100 AFTER THE SPLIT with ONLY POWER USERS?
No.
I live just down the road from these ayn rand reading masters of the universe and I'm telling you:
SOMETHING WRONG.
It is HEALTHY to document this at the very least so that the rest of us that have been BUGGERED by this bug can compare notes.
Don't you agree?
And when the masters of the universe can condescend from their collective yoga classes and bumper to bumper prius traffic @ the whole foods drive through to help out herein it would sure 'nuf be appreciated by this first-time, long time, let alone showgirl and the undoubted legions of owners of a piece of hardware under warranty which might as well be a paperweight w/o mains voltage.
IF IT IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE—even better— perhaps these guys on the payroll can actually update the IOS to address this.
Again MORE reason to bring this up HERE— or am I wrong?
Look:
asking SHOEGIRL for an essay or asking us if we plugged it in right is amateur hour with all due respect JEM24"level four".
Just the same I appreciate the thought and understanding.
LIKE I SAID I have seen employees on other parts of this cloud of smoke— and it has indeed helped me before. that's why we are all here right?

  • Battery for iPod touch 3

Hi...I bought a battery for ipod touch 3 online, and really my bad if won't work. I have a 3rd gen 8gb which is more like the 2nd gen than other 3rd gens. I now see on the ebay ad that this isn't for the itouch 3 gen 8gb but for the 16 and 32 gb. I have read elsewhere that they basically use the same batteries but the battery for the 3 gen w 16 or 32gbs is a little thinner, but both have the same power...I've also seen some sell the same battery for both. Question: do you believe it will work or not...I guess I could return or buy another...but since I have and if anyone knows it will work, then I would not bother...Any advice welcome. Thanks, Rick

If you're that uncertain about the replacement part itself, it's probably not a good idea for you to replace the battery yourself.  Return it.

  • Why no numeric battery for ipod touch?!

I think the topic says it all... Why is this only reserved to iPhone users?!
Is there a way to think about it? --> people at Apple
But all in all I am completely satisfied with the new major release!

Numerical battery is just something reserved for iphone. I guess it is more important to know if your phone is going to die in case of emergency than if your ipod touch is going to die. The ipod touch has never had numerical battery

  • Battery on ipod touch.

I have had my 3rd gen. ipod touch since october of 09. Its been working great, I have taken very good care of it and have never dropped it (knock on wood). But just recently within a week, the battery goes from completely charged to dead in one day without me even touching it. It has never done this before. Is there anything I can do about it, if so what should I do?

This is an issue many people have had.
I actually went so far as to wipe out my iPod and set it up as a new device with no apps, music, video, etc to troubleshoot this issue.
I had tried the normal stuff people recommended like turning off push mail, notifications, etc. Nothing helped.
I found through all my troubleshooting that the "Location Services" is what is causing the battery drain. It is constantly looking for WIFI access points around you to determine your location. Since the iPod doesn't have a GPS in it, it uses the wifi.
Turning off "Location Services" made the battery go back to normal for me.

  • My ipod touch 4g battery

my ipod touch 4g is pretty old about 2years maybe 3 my battery and the performance of the device is not living up to its standards what can i do to enhance all of this. can i call apple to recieve a free new battery because the battery is not suppost to act like this and i cahrge not even alot i need help and i want to know how i can enhance my ipod touch 4g without paying to much or doing so much.

Ooooh... sorry, but Apple doesn't give out free iPod Touch batterys. If you want to buy one, though, you can do so for a large $79 plus shipping. Or you can follow these tips:
    Update to the Latest Software
Always make sure your iPod has the latest software from Apple, as engineers may find new ways to optimize battery performance. For instance, early iPod models without a dock connector benefit from update 1.3 or later. Using iTunes 7.4 or later, you can update your iPod with the latest software. Put your iPod in its dock or plug it into your computer and iTunes will notify you if an update is available.
    Use iPod Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month. If you use your iPod infrequently (gasp), you might want to add a reminder to your calendar program.
    Extend Your Battery Life
If you want to extend the battery life of your iPod for any given charge cycle, you may conserve power by following these tips.
    Hold and Pause
It may seem obvious, but set the Hold switch when you aren’t using your iPod. This will prevent iPod controls from inadvertently waking up iPod and using unnecessary power. Also, if you are not listening to iPod, pause it, or turn it off by pressing the play button for two seconds.
    Long-Term Storage
If you don’t plan on using your iPod touch for more than three weeks, Apple recommends that you store it with the battery charged between 50%-75% and the device completely turned off, not just put to sleep. If you store it when the battery is fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life. Be sure to store your device at the proper temperature. (See “iPod touch Temperate Zone.”)
    Optimize Your Settings
There are a few features that use your iPod battery more quickly. If you don’t use these features, your iPod will play tunes longer.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi consumes power even if you are not using its features to connect to a network. You can turn it off to save power. Go to Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi.
Backlight: Setting the backlight to “always on” will significantly reduce your battery life. Use the backlight only when necessary.
Adjust brightness: Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life on iPod touch. Go to Settings > Brightness and drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness. In addition, turning on Auto-Brightness allows the screen to adjust its brightness based on current lighting conditions. Go to Settings > Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On.
Equalizer: Adding EQs to playback uses more of your iPod processor, since they aren’t encoded in the song. Turn EQ off if you don’t use it. If, however, you’ve added EQ to tracks in iTunes, you’ll need to set EQ to “flat” in order to have the effect of “off,” because iPod keeps your iTunes settings intact.
Minimize use of third-party applications: Excessive use of applications on iPod touch, such as games that prevent the screen from dimming or shutting off, can reduce battery life.
Fetch new data less frequently: Applications on iPod touch such as Mail can be set to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently email or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch new data manually, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services.
Turn off push mail: If you have a push mail account on iPod touch such as Yahoo! or Microsoft Exchange, turn off push mail when you don’t need it. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off. Messages sent to your push email accounts will now be received on your iPod touch based on the global Fetch setting rather than as they arrive.
Turn off push notifications: If you have apps installed on iPod touch that use push notifications, you can turn them off for some or all apps. Go to Settings > Notifications and set Notifications to Off to turn off all push notifications. The push notification settings for each app also appear here. Select the app and set specific notifications to Off.
    Maximize Your Memory
iPod plays music out of a solid-state memory cache to provide skip-free playback and maximize battery life. iPod spins its hard drive to fill this cache, which uses power. A couple of factors affect how often this happens, and if you minimize these factors, you’ll extend battery life.
Limit Fast-Forwarding: If you fast-forward through your playlist, iPod has to fill its cache more frequently, thus accessing the hard drive more often and using more power. This decreases overall battery life. By creating great playlists in iTunes that cater to your personal taste, you can decrease your need to fast-forward. Using the shuffle feature may also help to minimize your use of the fast-forward feature.
Use Compressed Songs: The iPod cache works most efficiently with songs of average file sizes (less than 9MB). If your audio files are large or uncompressed (including AIFF or WAV format), you may want to compress them, or use a different compression method, such as AAC or MP3, when importing them into iTunes. Also, consider breaking very long songs or tracks into shorter tracks that have smaller file sizes. If you encode your music at 128 Kbps, your iPod will fill its cache about every 25 minutes.

  • IPod touch 4th generation battery

    Hello,
I own an iPod touch 4th generation. It seems like my battery goes down very fast. I last charged today at 3:00 PM, which was half an hour ago. It already went down 25% when all I did was play a game like 5 times (Ice cream Jump). Is this normal?
I would appreciate if it was a good answer, not just like "look at this". I already read the Apples battery for iPod touch page ( help page and tells you to lower your brightness, etc...). It does not help.
    Thanks!

See the suggestionas included in the following for extending battery life. I place my iPod in airplane mode overnight. That helps a lot since when asleep the iPod is still try to connect to the internet for notifications and other things.

  • Can I enable battery percentage on my iPod touch 4th generation running iOS 5.1.1 without being jailbroken?

Can I enable Battery percentage on my iPod touch 4th generation running iOS 5.1.1 without beig jailbroken?

You can enable battery % on ipod touch 4g without jailbreaking it you can use backup bot for itunes. Thats how i enabled it on mine. Step 1: goto http://www.icopybot.com/ibackupbot_setup.exe download and install it if you have windows. Step 2: Next create a backup of your device in iTunes and then CLOSE iTunes (or else you may run into problems later on) do not lock the backup with a password. Step 3: Open iBackupBot. Click the backup you just made Next click "Path" to sort by Path. Step 4: Look for Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist and double click it. On the registration screen that comes up, hit cancel. Step 5: Find <dict> and create a new line after it. Then add this:
    <key>SBShowBatteryLevel</key>
    <true/>
Step 6: Hit CTRL + S or just the save button at the top left corner of that editor window. Now close the window.
Step 7: Right click that same backup you just edited
    Step 8: click restore
Step 9: Done! If you don't see the changes, reboot your iPod.
Enjoy I hope you found this useful!

  • Why has battery percentage been enabled for iPad and iPhone, but not iPod Touch?

iPhones have had the option to enable the battery percentage reading in the top right corner of the screen since they came out, and iPads later got that ability.  Yet throughout their times, updates, and models, iPod Touch users never have had that option.  And that tiny battery icon can be deceiving.  That icon on my iPod Touch 5G looks like I have 50% left, yet I plug it in, and suddenly, its charging just with a red end, meaning 20% or less remaining.  Apple... PLEASE give iPod Touches the option to torn that percentage on at the top right corner of the screen, even if it's only to the nearest 5 percent, although one app I have tells me exact battery percentage, so iPods have that capability, just please put it in the settings!  I like the convenience of that reading at the top, rather than opening an app every time I need a battery reading!  PLEASE Apple, it's time to let us get the percent!  Also, adding a built-in FM Radio receiving antenna for on-the-go FM Radio support wouldn't be a bad idea in the next generation if iPod Touch!

It can be added but it is inaccurate. Large fluctuation in % battery will be seen with load changes.
