Battery  Life not what it used to be.

My iPad went dead and Apple gave me a replacement. The battery on the new pad does not last nearly as long as the old one. Is there a way to test the capacity? If the capacity is low will Apple replace it? It's still under warranty.
Lou

Hi Lou,
This is a user to user forum, Mac users helping other Mac users. You'll have to discuss replacements with Apple directly.
The battery on the new pad does not last nearly as long as the old one.
Check out "Optimize Settings" here. http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
On your iPad tap Settings / General. Then the button ON where you see: Battery Percentage.
FYI... charging the battery from a wall outlet is much faster then via USB on your computer.

Of course it isn't — you've just drained it. Plug your AC adapter in and charge it up again.

  • Customer relations are not what they used to be - armed guard at AT&T corporate store with a gun

One of our phones broke down and we quickly needed to put an older phone back in service, so we headed out to the corporately owned AT&T store to get the larger SIM we needed to use the old phone. We got there 10 min before closing time. The greeter at the door, I think was the store manager, who took our names and our number and warned us that there were 5 people in front of us, "so we may not get to you today." I explained we had traveled 30 min to get to this store and that we only needed a SIM card, and as a robot he repeated "like  I said, we may not get to you today". I remember him because he has been with AT&T and on previous ocassions he was friendly and pro-active. We walked around a bit to look at the new phones, and sat down to watch people. We were now almost 15 min past closing time, and of the 5 associates we had seen when we walked in, only 2 were servicing customers. Strange! Just before 8:30 PM we were the last ones helped, due to only needing the SIM card we were done within in minutes. I explained I had been in retail sales and told him I understood that after a long day you want to go home on time, so I thanked him for sticking with it. We were walked to the door by the security guard, and I noticed she was carrying a gun. What the   is a security guard in a phone store doing with a gun? On second thought, customers service is not what it used to be, and we pay on time. Judging by the horror stories on here, I can see that some would get upset. Strange.

Garage Band free guitar lessons will not complete download without explanation.  I was under the impression the basic lessons were included with the OS.  In this case my troubles started after up grading to Yosemite 10.10.2--at the Raleigh, North Carolina Apple Store.  I was told it was band width issue because there were so many people in the store.
Possibly, the bandwidth issue is referring to the global masses trying to download updates and purchases off their servers, and the servers are just too bogged down?  In the olden days, huge MBytes of software were distributed on CD's, followed years later with GBytes on DVD's.  Now Apple is trying to distribute GBytes to individuals repeatedly, over the internet, and the big multibillion-dollar company is unquestionably stumbling at it, because there are evidently some software glitches in the process.
"This is very frustrating because I can't get anyone from Apple to talk to me."
           I hope it gets better.
Have you ever tried to call a specific store?
I've gotten just a recording in the past.  Unfortunately, the nearest Apple store is well over a 1.5 drive for me.
My story on an iPhone 4S upgrade to iOS8 is somewhat incredulous;  all of a sudden the phone crashes (which it never did before the upgrade).  The Apple Tech said their diagnostics indicate the battery needs replaced.  But this is probably off-topic.

  • MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz runs warm, battery life not bad?

The MacBook Pro 2.0Ghz runs warmer, battery life not too bad!!!! You have to love that packaging...

With Windows XP machines the CPU has three basic speed modes (with many other power saving features)
Full speed , in this case 2GHZ
    low speed: 600MHZ or 800MHZ,
and 'dynamic' mode (throttles the cpu form around 100MHZ to 2GHZ on the fly according to demand).
So on a Windows machine you can set the cpu to run at 600MHZ constant which is good for heat issues ( and battery life)
Of course 'dynamic' mode also is good fo heat and the battery (nice to have options)
In practice these features work well and have been present in the mobile chips for quite a while now.

  • IOS 5 fix not working battery Life not any better about 80% loss in 8 hours with no use

I updated my iPad with the 5.0.1 update, to fix my battery issues. This hasn't fixed anything, what to do. 80% battery life loss in 8 hours with nothing being used?

Have you checked all your settings to see if anything is running in the background e.g. location services, frequent email fetching, notifications etc - there are some tips on this page which might help, including doing a charge cycle (charging to 100%, running it down so that it powers off, and then charging back to 100%) : http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html
Also are then any apps on the taskbar that might still be active ? To close apps completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of an app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
You could also try a reset and see if that makes any difference : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I need help with IPHOne 4s IOS 7.0.4 battery life not improving

Alright, I Ned help with my iPhone 4S battler life, it is horrible, it will drain in about 12 hours. All I do is check my email, text a few people, and check a few apps. When I may school, it is a hundred percent, then I check it during school etc, when I go to bed it is about 20-30% battery life. Need help. Any suggestions? I tried a hard resets and restoring to a new iPhone etc, nothing worked.

I"m not at all sure what is the problem when you are describing your battery as holding its charge for 12 hours???
How long do you want your device to hold its battery charge???
Please see this article for tips on conserving battery charge. But PLEASE if you are looking for a device to hold its charge for LONGER than 12 hours I would suggest an android.

  • Lumia 710 Remaining Battery Life % Not Correct

I've had my Lumia 710 for a few months now and over the past week the remaining battery life percentage is way wrong.  For instance, one day I noticed my battery icon was really low so I went to check the % and it said it was -4%.  I was even able to make a 10 minute call and it never died on me.  A few days ago I had about 70% but when I checked the phone a few minutes later it was around 10%.  A few times I've even had it die on me and it never gives me the critical battery warning.
This morning it was dead when I woke up so I brought my charger to work.  After charging only 30 minutes it said I had 57% battery.  But now 4 hours later I'm sitting at 98% and it looks like it won't go past that.  Is something wrong with my battery or could the battery life indicator just be way off?  It was accurate the first few months after I got the phone so I don't know what is going on.

    Hi stephwin,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
Sounds like they may be something wrong with the battery, especially the sudden battery "deaths" without any prior warning indicate that. We would advise you to visit your local Nokia Care point and let them have a look. Nokia Lumia 710 has a removable battery, so changing it should not be too much of a hassle if it comes to that.
Let us know how you get on,

  • IPhone 5 hotter than Venus and dreadful battery life after beginning to use photo streams?

You may be able to tell from the title i have an issue.
Set up the photo stream today after my bro in law shared pictures. Phone immediately heated up to ridiculous levels and my battery life has been dreadful.
I've had the phone since start of June and had good battery life and no issues with heat, done the ios7 update last week (with no problems) so I reckon the issue is with the photo stream feature but I'm no tech wizard.
I've done a few searches for an answer but not found anything.
    Any help would be great
    Cheers
    Stevie

i am having same problem lately with my Iphone 5 and IOS7. I see my phone gets very hot when using the camera (or the gps apps). but even when I turn the camera off as well as GPS, the drainage is growing and when it gets to 24% it shuts down !!!! dead, I connected to the usb cable and it started but showed 0%.... very frustrating indeed !!!! would I be experiencing same issues with the new 5S I ordered already ??
I see your comment about the "photo stream" - it sounds potential problem - I wonder if any other colleagues will bring this up as well ?!
I turned off the Photo Sharing - will see if it's better, I did not want to turn off the Photo Stream becasue I did npt want to lose all my stored photos in te Icloud.
is there something wrong with the camera ??

  • 2013 Macbook Air 13" battery life not as good as advertised

At full charge, the estimated battery life read a little over 17 hours. At 97%, it now reads 15:39. Like I get this is vastly better than the older Macbook Air, but it still falls quite short of the 24 hours advertised on the website. Currently, it is still at 97% but now the estimated battery running time reads 14:59. Is this normal? I accidentally drained my battery twice since I bought it at the beginning of August, and I understand that's not good for the newer batteries - could this be the reason? My screen brightness is at 50% and I have no movies or music playing. Safari is the only ap I have open.
I'd appreciate any ideas or help with this problem (that is, if it is one).
I just looked at the estimated time again, and while it is still at 97%, the estimated remaining time is at 13:48. It's taken me a little over a minute to type this.
I'm not very tech-savy - is there something wrong with the way I understood the advertised battery life?

The Air is nowhere advertised for 24 hrs. batt. life.........  in any configuration.

  • DroidPro battery recharging - not allowed to use phone

When my DroidPro runs out of battery life, why does it have to be 100% charged before it works again?  It has been charging for 2 hours and I have been without a phone.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi, softballmom!
I'd like to help you today.
Typically the phone will begin to power on when plugged into the charger. This happens once about 2-3% charge has been absorbed, so I can only imagine that power is not the issue here.  While its charging, does the screen work at all? Are you not able to receive or answer phone calls?  Please provide a little more detail on how the phone is responding, or nor responding so we can all help you out.
    Thank you!

  • OS 7 battery life not good!

After I upgraded, my iPad is using battery faster. What can I do? I've turned off a motion control in Accessability.

try poking around in the settings. I noticed on my iPod a lot of stuff was defaulted to on (like background processes for stocks and weather) that may be chewing up your battery.
