Battery life on iPod touch 4G with Airplay streaming to Airport Express?

Any word on the battery life of the newest iPod touch 4G when using Airplay to stream music to an Airport express/ hi-fi speaker set up?
I think i have the above configuration correct? I already have an Airport express linked to a MBP/ iTunes, but it'd be easier to use an iPod Touch/Airplay to stream my iTunes lib in the same way.
But maybe not such a good idea if battery life on the touch will be zapped!!!

I haven't done exhaustive tests, but I've been streaming to an Airport Express and it seems like I ought to get 10 hours or so. I think the most I've done at once is 3 or 4 hours and the battery doesn't seem to drain more than a third to a half. For what it's worth, I've been streaming for an hour so far tonight and the battery icon hasn't moved off full.
Far more important I've found is to make sure the screen is locked. Tha backlight on the screen really chews thru the battery.

  • How to save battery life on iPod touch 5g?

Give me tips on how to save battery life on iPod touch 5g.It dies out very quickly.

    Turn down the screen brightness
Look into notifications. it defaults to everything being on and you can turn off most if not all of them.
Check your e-mail. If it's on push that means it's reaching out for new mails every so often, turning it to fetch means that it only goes to get mail when you tell it to.
Look at some of your apps. Some of them may be doing things in the background that you don't realize and you can tweak those to not run when you don't need them to run.

  • IPod Touch failing with AirPlay?

I'm using an ipod touch version 4.2.1 to stream music to an AirPort Express with AirPlay. I'll turn off the music and then later when I want to play tunes with AirPlay the ipod will not stream to the AirPort Express. Problem is not with the AirPort because my Mac is able to stream to AirPort when the ipod touch cannot. Restarting the ipod fixes the issue. Has anybody else experienced this?

Im having a similar issue. I cannot stream music from my Ipod touch (4th Gen) or my Windows PC (where a few weeks ago there was no issue). However It still works streaming from my Mac. Rather annoying becasue i cannot find a way to fix this. On the PC Itunes just stalls while trying to connect to the airport express, where on my Ipod it will act like its connected, and say the music is playing, however no sound comes out.
If anyone has found a fix please do share

  • Battery life of iPod touch 4g whilst playing 3d games

I recently bought an iPod touch 4th gen and one of the first apps i downloaded was Modern Combat 2. I noticed that after only playing for a few minutes, my battery had begun to be used up pretty fast. I downloaded Magic Battery and it says my device is only good for around 2 hours of 3d gameplay. And whilst playing MC2 i found out that 7 minutes of it would drain 20 % of my battery.
Before i download other games such as NOVA 2 or Dungeon Hunter 2 which are both 3d, i'm asking: is this normal? Is power usage on these games THAT dear or is my purchase faulty and should i return it?
Note: when i played MC2, i was not multitasking, brightness =0%, and all measures to prolong battery life were in place.

5 hours is definitely too quick for a battery discharge. Try a few of the solutions here http:
    //discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=13152669#13152669
but if it does not hold a charge longer then take it back to the Apple store and ask for an exchange or a refund.

  • My iPod Touch was not connecting to my Airport Express router (which was "extending" a network as a WDS repeater) -- SOLVED!

My problem was this. I have a large apartment with concrete walls, so just one wireless router would not work. I used apple Airport routers and used one of them (an airport extreme) to create my wireless network, and a number of other ones -- airport expresses -- to "extend" the network.
That's all great, but I found that a couple of my devices -- mainly my iPod Touch -- would refuse to connect to the repeater airport express routers -- it only wanted to connect to the main Airport Extreme router, not the satellite guys.
Finally I solved the problem.  It had to do with how the wireless network's configuration for "Radio" setting was set regarding 802/11 b/g, and the dual-band ability of the Extreme. Below is the description of how I fixed it.
    ======SOLUTION THAT I POSTED======
I've pretty much solved this problem. I do not FULLY understand why, but now I can have my iPod touch (and I am hoping my kindle) attach correctly to the satellite/repeater airport express.  Here is what I did:
I did two configuration changes to my central hub airport extreme router (i.e., the one that my other routers were merely configured to "extend.")  I realize now that these are both configurations that must be done at that central router, and the repeater routers then simply mimic or reflect accordingly.
-- First, I used the most recent Airport Utility (v6.0) and clicked on my main router (which, crucially, is an airport extreme that has dual band 802.11, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.)
-- In the airport utility, I clicked on that Extreme router and then in its funky popup window, clicked Edit.
-- Clicked the tab called Wireless.
-- Clicked on Wireless Options button.
-- the first config change I made on that page was to change the Radio Mode setting to "802.11a/n - 802.11 b/g."
What nobody really tells you is that that hyphenated choice means that the 5GHz band will use the first of those two (namely, a and n, in other words the strong modern N standard will be used on this band ONLY) ... while the 2.4GHZ band will use only the second of those two, b/g, in other words, the devices that only can use that older weaker standard.
So, it's kind of a segregation. I'm telling it "No, don't let the 2.4 ghz band try to handle traffic using N. That band will just take care of the old crappy clients."
-- the second config change that I made on that page was to check the check box to make a totally separate wireless network name for the 5GHZ band.  Further segregating things.  When I tried my solution without this additional step, my problem did not fix itself, though I don't fully see why.
As I said, a few questions remain in my head, but the darn thing works, so I'm happy. Among many other questions... are those airport expresses dual-band too? I didn't think they were but somehow they are repeating this dual-band strategy?  Whatever. it works.
BY THE WAY -- I recommend using the Apple question/answer board on StackExchange to get Apple-related answers. It is at http://apple.stackexchange.com/

To demonstrate, here's a screenshot from the Airport Utility on the iPod Touch in close proximity to the Express, still connected to the Extreme :

  • HT201335 does the Ipod touch work with the airplay mirroring

Does the Ipod touch work with airplay mirroring?

No. Only iPhone 4S and iPad (2nd or 3rd Gen) as it requires more processing power. You can still use airplay with your device though.

  • I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay.  Works perfectly with my iPod Touch.  The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect.  Running latest IOS software.

I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay.  Works perfectly with my iPod Touch.  The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect.  Running latest IOS software.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    You said:
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

  • Am I able to reset the battery of an iPod Touch 5G myself?

Am I able to reset the battery of an iPod Touch 5G myself? Because my battery is doing strange. When I put it in a computer it says 'charging off'. When I put it in a charger it is normally charging but when I take it out, it says 20% battery life remaining. I put it in the charger the whole night but I don't know what's wrong. But after it says 20% it turns off (of course) but when I turn it on, the battery is 100%! I didn't even put it in a charger! And then the same story begins. over and over.

Hey Ron61, Don't know about resetting the battery, but you can do a reset of the iPod. Start with a soft reset. Press and hold the power and home buttons together, until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds+/-) then release both buttons. If no joy, then go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If that does my work try allowing your iPod to drain down until it turns off, then charge at least 4 hours. Also try a different cable, the lighting cables have a history of failing / shorting out. And inspect your charging port on the iPod for foreign debris or damage. If still not joy, make a full set of backups of everything on this iPod to your computer then try to Restore for Backup or last resort Restore to New. If none of the above work, contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar and have your iPod evaluated for possible hardware issue. Bring you cable alone also. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Hello. So I have used my iPod touch 4g for 2 years now and need to change the battery. My question is: will I lose everything I have on my iPod like my music, pictures and apps if I change the battery on my iPod touch 4g?

hello. So I have used my iPod touch 4g for 2 years now and need to change the battery. My question is: will I lose everything I have on my iPod like my music, pictures and apps if I change the battery on my iPod touch 4g?
    Thanks for answer

If you go to Apple, they will not replace your battery, but exchange your iPod for a refurbished iPod of the same model with a new battery.  Therefore you will lose everything that is not backed up.  If you change it yourself or have a third party change it, you will most likely not lose anything (but still best to make a backup as lllaass suggested).

  • Is It Ok If I Charge My Ipod Touch 5 With An Ipad 4 Charger (Adapter)?

since i have upgradet my ipod touch 3g with the new 5.0.1 version,  i can`t upload music or pictures or apps or anything else. the synchronize button is gray and allows nothing. the i tunes version is  10.5.3 ... please help me!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Can I use my ipod touch as a airplay receiver to hook up to my stereo and play my itunes music from my computer?

I just was wondering, Can I use my ipod touch as a airplay receiver to hook up to my stereo and play my itunes music from my computer?

I believe there's got to be a way you can use the ipod touch as a airplay receiver to use on the stereo.
The ipod touch has a port for plugging in earphones, that can also be used to plug a stereo into it.
Now somebody just has to make an app for using on ipod touch or iphone to plug directly into the stereos input
jack to play itunes music from your computer wirelessly, other than the ipod being plugged into the stereo with a wire.
