Battery life on the 4S after upgrading to ios 5.0.1

Ok just about to upgrade to the new software (late I know) I have a 4S 64GB phone.  All I have seen are people complaining that far from resolving the issue on a lot of models it has made the batter life worse - as well as uncovering a few other 'glitches'.  Does anyone have any good stories to share about the upgrade or should I just not bother?!
Thanks in advance for all those who believe in the iphone community x

Ok I know that this is rich coming from me espeacially as I haven't upgraded to the new software on my 4S but a few people have stated that deleting your mail settings and re-configuring is something that helps but no one really talks about.  The other thing is to try and restore as new from itunes and then draining the battery to 0% followed by a full charge.  Hope that helps.

  • Reception / Battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1

There are major reception and battery problems with iPhone 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.2.1.
I can not believe that Apple did not test this for major bugs like this one is.
I am a business user and can not effort to have bad reception. Apple wants to gain in the business clients... I never had this with my former BlackBerrys!
I need a reliable phone not a play thing like this is right now, it just needs it to work propely. And if a major bug like this comes along, fix it immediately. After the iPhone4 story, now this...incredible! Going back to my reliable BlackBerry! It just ain't reliable and takes forever to fix a problem.

I have the same issue after iOS 4.2.1 update. I am using iPhone 3GS officially unlocked by Apple. I tried using different SIM cards and both carriers show same problem when using phone in 3G mode. Phone falls back to EDGE mode showing 'E' from '3G' at start. I have reset the phone and rebooted several times and moved to different cell areas in the city just to verify the problem.
I had no such issues earlier. I also have Nokia E71 which shows full signal and has no such issues.
I have posted the bug on apple iphone feedback page. I hope they Apple will fix the problem and test the release properly on all models before releasing to public.

  • Tips to fix battery issue on iphone 4s after upgrading to iOS 6.0

ladies and gentlemen.....i think i found a simple solution but its the only way to fix the problem until apple decides to gives us a patch.
i have an iphone 4s and yesterday i did the upgrade to 6.0
this morning i noticed my battery was draining faster than normal then i decided to do this.
i did a full reset and when i set it up i did it as a new iphone without using any of the restore points.
before you do this you need to make sure your contacts and photos are stored in icloud.
once you are all done with the restore you need to do all the tips for battery life including turning off gps on stuff you dont need and how often data is pushed from the server.  one thing i like to do is every morning when i charge my phone is i clear the cache and browser history and close any open apps and then i shut down, wait a few minutes and turn back on
i work on the street nearly 11 hours daily and i listen to music, watch youtube videos, browse the web, use facebook and instagram and by the time i go home i still have 20% left in the battery

The issue is probably specific to your iPhone:
Something may have gone amiss in the upgrade to iOS 6.1.3 on your iPhone.
To correct this follow these steps:
Backup your iPhone using iTunes or iCloud.
Use iTunes to completely restore your iPhone as new.
Setup your iPhone and monitor battery usage to see if it is normal. If not, you may have a hardware problem - if so, contact Apple support.
Restore your iPhone from your backup above.
Check battery usage to confirm that it remains normal.

  • I can't agree to the terms after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3 because my phone is giving me a defunct Apple ID - help!

I upgraded to iOS 7.0.3. When I switch on my phone again it asks me to sign in with my Apple ID.
This is fine - except that it's giving me the email address I was using six months ago. I have never used that Apple ID with this phone, and it's no longer associated with my iCloud account.
Because I can't sign in, I also can't agree to the terms and conditions. This means that I can't use my phone.
This is beyond upsetting, I don't even have an alarm clock for tomorrow morning! How can I get it to prompt me using the current email address for my Apple ID? I've logged into my Apple ID on the site and the former address isn't associated with the account in any way, so I don't know where it's getting this old data from.
Of course all Apple stores in my city are booked solid until Monday. I cannot wait that long.
Any help would be really appreciated!

The fix is to log into your current account. Go to appleid.apple.com and change the primary email and apple id back to the old email address (doesn't matter if you have it any longer). Once the change is made, then enter your password for that account on the device. Once you get in, go ahead and go back to appleid.apple.com and change it back. That fixed mine.
need to edit this to clarify a bit

  • Itunes says it is syncing apps but it won't transfer purchases nor sync any apps from the computer after upgrading to iOS 5.

I just upgraded to iOS 5 and itunes synced my music fine. When I tried to sync the apps (they were all selected), it said that there were 5 steps, which included "Preparing for sync" and "Preparing apps to be synced". However, the sync was over in about a minute, no apps were transferred, and when I went to check the apps tab on the iPod, all of the apps were selected (which usually equalled over 1GB), yet it said that the apps were only worth 0.04 GB. I tried unchecking one of the apps and it immediately shot up to 1.04 GB! Thinking it may have been a computer problem, I tried to sync with a different computer, but I had to transfer purchases first. Again the same thing happened: it claimed to be syncing but nothing really happened. I don't know whether it's a problem with Itunes 10.5 (although I haven't heard of anyone with this issue) or my iPod. Help would be appreciated.
Note: I'm using an iPod Touch 4th g and my computers are running windows xp and 7, respectively.

So just got off the phone with a senior Apple support person and here is the fix they gave me for the app issue.  Not sure if it will work until I get home to try it.  It appears that a lot of these issues are in relation to Apple's move from a generic Apple ID not attached to a specific email to an actual email address.  Since my .mac or .me email was never verified with my original Apple ID (just my name) the iCloud was not recognizing that I actually had any apps associated with my account when signing in with the new .mac email that was connected to the iCloud.  The below fix she stated would separate the iCloud and iTunes allowing the iCloud to handle all of my mail, contacts, calendars etc. and iTunes/store to handle the apps and purchases.  I will update again if this takes care of the issue.
    Go to applied.apple.com
    -       sign on with existing Apple ID (not an email address)
    -       add an email to your account and verify it
    -       edit your Apple ID to the new verified email address
    On iTunes
    Step #1
    -          iTunes store
    -          click on Apple ID in the upper right corner
    -          click edit
    -          edit Apple ID to new verified email address associated to account
    Step #2
    -          synch device with cord
    -          click on device
    -          go to the App tab
    -          deselect synch apps
    -          apply
    -          synch
    -          go to the App tab
    -          select synch apps
    -          apply
    Step #3
    -          on device go to store and enter the new verified email address as ID and password under store
You probably will have to do this to all devices that are synching with your iTunes account

  • ITunes keeps telling me the restore (after upgrading to iOS 5) has been interrupted.

I am trying to upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.
As my MacPro is still running Snow Leopard, I decided NOT to sync with iCloud but rather with iTunes.
Every time I connect the iPhone, iTunes tells me the restore has been interrupted and offers to resume backup.
When I do, it starts restoring, restarts the iPhone and then I get same message.... over and over again.

Did you try to use another USB cable or USB port?
If you would be on a PC, I would also suggest to check the security software settings, but on a Mac there is usually no 3rd party AV software installed.
Any other USB devices connected during the update process, besides keyboard and mouse?
Maybe you should consider to remove and reinstall iTunes, if changing the USB port or cable does not help.

  • Any iPhone 4S users experienced better battery life after upgrading to iOS 7.1?

    Hello
I am curious to know if any iPhone 4S users experienced better battery life compared to iOS 7.x.x.? That will be great to know before I upgrade and give up my JB .
    Thanks!

Really, that's quite an assertion. I'm sure you can prove those stats; but  my apologies,  I forgot that Apple produces flawless product.
I can only report MY SYMPTOMS: iPhone 4S 32M on VZW, upgrade to iOS 7.0 at the end of February (when security flaw was announced), after which my battery life is about 1/2 what it used to be before the upgrade.
Also, as reported above, when I upgraded to iOS 7.0 my phone would lock (in phone mode); had uncommanded  reboots; and severely degraded battery life.  Two days ago, upgraded to iOS 7.1.  Most screen "touch" issues appear resolved; and uncommanded reboots resolved.
Battery life / duration still poor; still charging every 4-5 hours.
Previously with  normal use (with no location services) could run a full day, about 8 hours before recharge. Now, same situations, I'm having to recharge after 4-5 hours.  Again, no new apps, all apps are current; no different usage.
    What's the resolving fix?

  • Ringtones Disappear after upgrading to iOS 5 and sync (Solution)

    Hi guys,
For those who have the problems of ringtones disappearing in the iphone although you have them in itunes.
I encounter the problem after upgrading to iOS 5 and after the backups.
But i somehow manage to solve the problem after a few trials and errors.
    What I did was....
First I remove all the ringtones from my iphone by unchecking all the ringtones in itunes b4 i sync.
After that I choose "Sync all ringtones" and the problem is solved.
Hope this will help you guys.

I am having this same issue.

  • After upgrading to iOS 8 the iPhone 5c start freezing, battery life is too short, etc.

After Upgrade to iOS 8 the iPhone 5c start freezing, battery life is too short, and to open an app it as to restart the phone.
How to downgrade to iOS 7.
    Thanks,
    <Re-Titled By Host>

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device without using any backup would be the next step:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

  • No connection to Wifi after upgrade to iOS 7.1 AND poor battery life

    Hi,
after upgrading my iPhone 4s to iOS to 7.1, I cannot connect to any Wifi anymore. Does anybody have an idea how to solve this issue?
Additional, I am wondering why battery life is much worse after the upgrade. I closed all apps via multitasking view. Nevertheless, battery is empty within a couple of hours. (before the upgrade, it lasted approx one day!!!)
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Thanks!

After every iOS update there are reports of users experiencing faster than normal battery drain.  Most find that basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide resolves the issue.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
I am not having issues with battery drain on my device, it was at 50% around 2PM today, removed off the charger at 6:30AM and I'm a fairly heavy user of the device.

Have you tried doing turning the battery level display off and then General -> "Reset all settings"? You won't loose any data and that should do the trick.
