Battery Life or Not under 10.5

I'm using a MacBook Pro and after upgrading battery life is down to 2 hours or so from 3+ under 10.4.
At least from the time remaining indicator. Has anyone else noticed this?

Same problem here with my MBP. Even though it is "fully charged," the battery level in Leopard says it's always less than 2 hours. I figured there may be something wrong with my battery. I did a complete discharge of the battery and then left it to charge overnight. Same problem this morning.
It seems to be stuck around the 1:40 to 1:50 mark.

  • Updated to OS 10.7.3; fan runs constantly and battery life dropped to under 2 hours when 100% charged. How do I get back to 10.7.2, I don't have a backup prior to this upgrade. This is a newer Macbook Pro 13", no modifications.

Help! This new version of Lion is making me miserable. The fan runs constantly, the computer is hot and battery life has dropped to under 2 hours on a fully charged battery. I updated yesterday, nothing but misery today. Even running the mail program alone make the fan run like I have everything open. Using Pages, iPhoto, and iTunes simultaneously makes the computer blistering hot.Yesterday, I could use all three without any trouble. Any suggestions to either jettison 10.7.3 or how to fix without any expense? I haven't modified this computer at all, it is as it came from the box in August 2011: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3.

I updated to Lion 10.7.3 and started noticing my fans running on high all the time and my battery would drain 2-3x faster.  I was going to take my computer into an Apple store until I found this thread.  I did the SMC reset by shutting down my computer, plugging it in, and then pushing down shift+control+option while also pushing down the power button.  Nothing happens on the screen and the computer did not turn on.  I then released all the buttons at once after holding them down for 10 seconds.
After that, I simply turned my computer back on and everything seems to be working fine.  The  fans are not blasting anymore.  I have a newer MacBook Pro where I can't access my batteries.  The SMC reset may differ for other types of laptops.

  • My phone's battery life is not good It lowers every minute when I'm using it .

I need to know how I can fix this problem .

See if anything in this user supplied link will help you. http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/. Otherwise, others have found that restoring the phone as new and not from a backup, then syncing data back individually instead of from a backup helps. At times the backup can contain corrupted code that can make apps run incorrectly.

  • Battery Life is not correct. Not 63.5.

I have a new MacBook Pro 13". I was told it had a 63.5 battery.
However, when I run CPUID in Windows 7, it says the max is: 57700, or 57.7.
Anyone else experience this? Is there a way to check I have the 63.5 battery in Mac OSX?
When I bought it at the Apple Store, both the rep and I noticed that the battery specs are not indicated on the box...
Also looking for an Equalizer for the Cirrus Logic audio device for MacOSX and Windows 7 (not the one in iTunes, something that is independent of iTunes).
    Thanks!

Dividing the 63.5WH specified for the MBP's battery by its nominal 10.8V output and multiplying by 1000 yields a nominal capacity in mAh of 5880. You can expect your battery's indicated capacity to vary as much as 5% up or down from that during its first few weeks of use, and it will continue to vary by a few percentage points up or down throughout the life of the battery. The readout just isn't any more precise than that. You have the right battery. You couldn't very well have the wrong one, because there's no other that fits in your MBP.

  • My ipad is less than 3 months old but my battery life is not great. What can I do? Within an hour I have lost nearly 30% of battery life

My ipad is only 3 months old and already just from using pages for about an hour the battery life has gone down by 30%. Is this correct or is there something wrong with the battery life? So much for 10 hour battery life....

You may  have stuff running that you don't know you hve running. Such as notifications default to on, so you may have a bunch of stuff going out and reaching for info that you don't realize is running. So you can look there, and also look at your mail. If it's set to fetch mails or to push. if it's on push, then y our iPad is reacing out to get the mail all the time.
So try turning stuff off. but if the battery is still not acting like you want it to, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them run diagnostics on it, just to make sure. they might also be able to give you some tips or find what's draining your power.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard Battery Life Indicator Not Working

I have a wireless Apple BT aluminum keyboard and have been having horrendous difficulty with it lately. Last time I changed out the batteries was last month, so I thought I would check and see what the battery life was on the current set. Seems that the keyboard is not correctly reporting battery life, because the Keyboard section in the Control Panel is displaying 100% green. I know that can't be true because I use the keyboard frequently and these batteries are at least a month old.
I have also been having severe disconnect problems as of late - to the point where I need to keep a USB keyboard handy. My keyboard connection drops every 5 minutes, usually for 2-3 minutes (and sometimes requiring a re-pair), then it will come back and repeat every keypress once it is reconnected.
Is this keyboard defective? Is there any way of finding out short of hauling my entire iMac & keyboard the 1 hr. North to the closest Genius Bar?
    Thanks.

Try deleting the Bluetooth preference file.
com.apple.Bluetooth.plist /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
As for the disconnect issue. Do you have your computer anywhere near a microwave oven? They can cause interference.
Also, try resetting the System Management Controller, instructions here:

Since you are an hour from the nearest Apple store, you might be able to get help from an Apple Macintosh User Group. Check here for locations: http://www.apple.com/usergroups/find/

  • HTC Rezound OTA killing battery life/phone not sleeping

yesterday (1/31) my Rezound got an OTA update and ever since then my battery life has absolutely tanked.
all of a sudden, since the update, Verizon Location Agent runs constantly and forcing it to stop doesnt preventing it from just randomly coming back up, and thats without even touching or using the phone at all.  this app/service is preventing my phone from sleeping. in about 3-4 hours i can go from a full 100% battery to it beeping at me at 9%.
please forward this info to someone higher up in the company so we can get this fixed, preferably with a way to flat out remove the Verizon Location Agent as it is not needed and is only causing problems.
the internet is filled with forums with TONS of people reporting the exact same thing.  its not the battery, its not the phone.  its the VLA.

I also experienced battery life cut in half after ota update and I couldn't select my ADW EX launcher as default anymore.  I fixed the launcher by reinstalling and and getting a home switcher app and clearing the default launcher setting.  With that said, I tried installing juice defender to manage battery better but phone was still dead after 5-6hrs on battery (yes, it was getting hot but it didn't feel to the extreme some of your are discussing).
I was holding out for the 30 day return period before rooting the phone, but since the battery was so pathetic, and people who had rooted and were running custom roms, didn't have this battery problem, I decided to start down that path. I got as far as using the HTC process to unlock the phone, at which point I was forced to to a factory reset.  It got too late that night and I decided to complete the rooting later.  3 days later, I still haven't rooted it because i had other emergencies (house furnace is almost dead), but I'm SO EXCITED to report that since doing this factory reset, my battery life has skyrocketed back to normal, maybe even better then it was originally!  I can easily unplug in the morning around 9AM and WITHOUT recharging it still had 36% battery last night around midnight.  All 3 of the location services on my phone are enabled.  4G and wifi used throughout the day, had about 4 phone calls, checked facebook once, checked gmail a few times, did 2 web searches and texted throughout the day as needed.
So, if you're outside your return period and you loved your rezound before the ota update, it may not be the most desired thing to do, but if you factory reset your phone, you can get the good battery life back again!
So that's my experience.  Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Is it preferrable to use iPhone 5 to accommodate the new iOS 6 than maintaining my current iPhone 4S? The battery life is not that good after updating my iPhone 4 S to iOS 6.

I've updated my iPhone 4S with the latest iOS 6 but battery life had never improved as I expected. A friend of my had recently replace his iPhone 3GS with iPhone 5 and both us compared our simillar daily usage of browsing, emails with attachments (work related), messaging (via iMessage, WhatsAppa, WeChat) games, facebook, tweet, uploading, etc, it seems that iPhone 5 last longer by 35-40% compared to my iPhone 4S. By. The time he hits 60-55% on his iPhone 5, my iPhone 4S Is less than 15%... My Questions to the community or any Apple Consultant, is it preferrable to replace my beloved iPhone 4S with iPhone 5 in order to accommodate the performances of iOS 6 and the "coming soon" iOS 7? Is it a practise to replace every iPhone when there's a new iOS update? Please advise.

It largely depends on how much money you are prepared to spend.
Your question is much like asking "I have last year's model car.  This year, the car has some new features.  Should I trade in last year's model and get this year's?"  Well, maybe.  It's your call.
Each newer generation introduces some new features and capabilities.

  • Brand new 13" MBP Battery life is not 10 hrs.

Today I got my brand new 13" Macbook pro. The battery is advertised as lasting up to 10 hrs. This is my first time using the computer and I charged it up completely. I just unplugged it. The battery meter on top reads 6.46 hrs.
I have the display turned down. and the keyboard backlight off. I do have wifi on and bluetooth on but why is it not reading higher?

Yes you should calibrate your battery at least a couple times. I just purchased a new 15" i7 and found some improvement after doing it once, and a little bit more after the second time. Here's some instructions from Apple...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/9036.html
With the 13" you have a very energy efficient machine but Apple's battery times are under "ideal" conditions and seem to be a little overstated (OK maybe more than a little). My 2008 15" non-unibody had a "5 hour battery" and in real life it was more like 3-4 hr maximum under light use. *I also had the 2009 version of your 13" and got around 6-6.5 hrs max out of the "7 hour battery" again under light usage.* My 2010 15" i7 well... let's just say the 8-9 hours quoted must be under lab conditions! Real life battery is 2-7hrs depending upon usage. Ugh.

  • Battery not charging, dim green light on Magsafe. Stuck at 37% battery life. Not sure the issue, so I need some help.

Yesterday, my Magsafe power adapter/battery was working fine. I had  unplugged the machine last night to do some work, and I left it  unplugged all night. It held a good 90% charge over the night, and after  using it for a few hours I wanted to plug it back in. I noticed the  normally bright amber light on the Magsafe did not come on, but a faint  green light.
The machine says "Battery is not charging", but no "Service Battery  Warning has shown up. I also attached an image of my results from  Coconut Battery, just not sure what the numbers mean.
    Any ideas?

I reset the SMC, nothing changed, I took out the charger to clean, but there wasn't anything dirty.
BUT as soon as I plugged the MagSafe out, the power percent jumped from 37% to 47%. Still not charging, I am very confused on how it charged??

  • I just got a Macbook Pro three weeks ago, and it is already freezing up on me. What is wrong with it? Also, the battery life does not extend to 7 hours when connected to the internet. Is there something wrong with my computer, or is this normal?

It's also really slow. And the mouse key on my screen sometimes doesn't switch back to normal.

  • Has anyone noticed deminished battery life or not being able to get a full charge since installing Lion?

I have a Brand New Mac Book Pro 15 inch... I have noticed since the upgrade to lion I can't get the battery to charge to 100% and it seems to drain quicker than before.  I have the backlit key board all the way off and the screen dimmed during use on the battery, and no blue tooth activated.  Is anyone else seeing this same thing>

  • Very very short battery life - will not hold charge on new ipad mini retina, HELP

My iPad mini retina OS7 will not hold it's battery charge. I have turned off Location services, do not have apps running in multitude task mode and do not have Bluetooth on.  I close  all aps and the smart case and come back in an hour and find charge will still have gone down  10 to 30%

  • W520 - Battery Life Under 2 Hours!

    Hello there!
I've been experiencing the problem where my Nvidia Graphics card does not automatically switch to the Intel Graphics card --- or if it does --- it does not allow me to have the 5 hours + of battery life that I use to have when I was using Windows 7 (right now I am using Windows 8).
I also don't have the Lenovo Power Manager program installed because I can't seem to find it anywhere on the installation pages for my particular laptop with Windows 8. I wonder if this is the problem since its using Windows Power Manager -- even though I have installed the Power Driver multiple times.
Even when I get it so I make sure that no applications are using the Nvidia Graphics card (confirmed by the Nvidia GPU Activity icon), I still get the under 2 hours battery life. I am using the 9v battery -- the larger one.
Any help would be greatly appriciated so I can get the full battery life out of this laptop, as when I had Windows 7 installed. Thank you :-)

    Hi brooklotzkar
    1. Go to Control Panel (Small icons)> Lenovo - Update and Drivers > Install all critical and recommended updates. Optional - Up to you to decide as you may not be using all the functions. If this options is not available, Download here and install.
    2. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Check Power saver. Power Plan make a big difference on both battery life and performance.
    From what I tested on my W520 - Core i7 2720QM
Maximum Battery Life or Power saver: CPU clock speed at 800MHz constantly, but performance decrease. You wouldn't want to multitask too much when on battery.
Maximum Performance or High Performance: CPU clock speed will go up from 3 - 3.2GHz (Depending on how many core / thread the program will utilize)
    3. Battery will vary depend on how many / what kind of apps are opened. I have tried using 5+h on 6-cell battery without any problem. (Battery Stretch, only running Microsoft Word and 1 tab of Internet Explorer) It is recommended to run Internet Explorer on battery as it requires less resource, hence battery life will not run out as fast.
