    How to Close Apps
Double Tap the Home Button... Then swipe the App (not the icon) Upwards... Tap the Home Button when finished.

  • I bought my 15" macbook pro i7 just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quick..at fully charged it says I only have 2:27 of usage time. I didn't pay for that-what can I do about it? I do have Apple care. Thanks.

I bought my 15" macbook pro just a year ago and my battery life runs out extremely quickly. This started maybe a month or two ago. Its hard to tell. I only noticed the rapid change recently. Fully charged it says I have 2:27 (2 hours and 27 minutes) of usage time...with about 50% screen and keyboard brightness.
I've checked inside system preferences and its cycle count is 261 and full charging cap is 6316.
I have apple care...is this something i can/need to take up with apple. You'd think if you pay the price for these machines you should get mroe use out of them.
ONLY A YEAR I'VE HAD THIS!
My PC lasted 4 years before the battery showed signs this dramatic of wear.
Any help is appreciated, im  new mac owner. thanks.

do you have a mbp with dual video cards? running the system with the higher end card increases the heat and also drains batt power.
i have the 1st gen unibody (2008) with an original removable battery of 311 cycles and 4453 charge. under normal use ill be happy to get 1.5hrs. the mac battery counter thing says i have 3.3hrs though (whatever). compared to me, i think you use your battery more than i do, perhaps its the reason why it degraded so fast in a year?

  • My macbook pro battery life is tremendously reduced after installing lion os x

I installed Lion OS X on macbook pro 13 inch- i7
I noticed that it was 100% battery full and the remaining time was less than 2 hours.
When I was using the snow leopard, it was said 6 hours which is fine.
How to solve this problem please.
    Best regards,

Hi all, thought i share some of my battery related issues i have with Lion.
As everybody already noticed, even my battery life took a deep dive into nothing really. From steady 5 hours to 2 hours !? I use my mac a lot on battery, and i can make it through the day whitout even touching a charger. But .. now that has apparently changed.
So, what i found out after installing Lion is 3 things ..
#1 "Kill your daemons" .. after i examined the Citrix fix, which i didn't had installed i had a look at what daemons i had loaded, and found a lot of google ones. So i killed those, whenever a use chrome i just have to manually check for updates. No biggie.
#2 "Battery calculation is different" Yeah, it really is .. it seems like they changed the way the calculation is done. Its more dynamic now, and it taking in consideration more about what you're doing atm on your mac. When iam writing this my battery is at 70% and i says that i have 4 hours left. When i start to surf for example it drops to 2 hours. I did the battery calc reset, altho it got a little better but not good still.
#3 "Dynamic switching" Nasty one, it seems that after i upgraded to Lion my Dynamic switching of the GPU stopped to work. All settings was according to the book, but still i had my AMD chosen all the time, which explains the furnace i got on my lap all of a sudden. So, since by default there is no way to switch the GPU i downloaded the gfxCardStatus that did the trick for me, temperature dropped radically and my battery time went up of course.
So, now iam back to almost 70% of capacity before installing Lion, and that with doing nothing other than just install Lion !. I know there is issues with Flash, and most likely there will be a fix soon from Apple and Adobe that fixes our battery issues.
Then there is the wifi issues, that everyone seems to have in different forms and shapes, so basically Lion needs a haircut and a shave.

  • I have two rotating arrows at the top of my screen next to the 3G symbol. Does anyone know how to turn this off b/c it is using all of my battery life? This started after the iOS 5 update.

I have two rotating arrows at the top of my screen next to the 3G symbol. This happened after the iOS 5 update. Does anyone know what it is and how I get it off, it is draining my battery?

At first read, I also thought it sounded a bit snide.  Who here has read the entire manual before going to the web for a quick search? (Not me, and in fact, I found my answer - to this very question, by reading this post WAY faster than if I had read the manual.  What is so wrong with that?)
That is the beauty of having support forums.  If it is a bother to answer, without being snide, one is not obligated to do so.  And my apologies if he was not being snide... but there maybe a better way to point out the manual, such as "I have included a link to the searchable manual which may be of assistance to you next time you are puzzled by your iPhone's behaviour".
    Just my 2¢.

  • Battery life after installing iOS 4.0 on 3GS

I've read a little about loss of battery life on the 3GS after installing 4.0 so I was curious who else is experiencing these problems. Since installing the new software my phone is losing about 8-10% per hour when sitting idle. I am losing a full charge and using the phone less than 30 min. I have done a restore and have made sure aps are closed. I can;t get the phone to stop eating battery life. Any suggestions?? Please!

Bingo.....decided to try a restore factory settings through ITunes and then backed up with the phone settings so I did not lose all my stuff, if this had not worked I would have tried again but then reset as a new phone and start afresh, but thankfully I did not need to. Note you still end up with OS 4.0
After going through the set up and then recharging just once, the battery has performed pretty much as it is has done since initial purchase. In 16 hrs of minimal usage and in standby it has used 30%.
    Good luck.
    Cheers

  • HT4623 why am i experiencing short battey life after installing ios 7?

why am i experiencing short battey life with my IPad after installing ios 7 1 ?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Power of iPhone4s(16GB) runs out quickly after updating iOS8

    1. My iPhone4s(16GB) battery power runs out quickly after charging it to 100%. It can only sustain like 5 hours without too much using.
    2. It runs slowly after updating iOS8 operating system.
    3. Please help me to see what the problem is.

Found the rootcause. The battery was damaged and unable to have enough power to keep the device alive. After changing the device problem is solved.

  • After installing iOS 6 battery life is awful on iPhone 4S

    Hello All,
I just want to share a problem I am having with my iphone 4s. After installing iOS 6.0.1 on it, the battery life is very bad, I could probably say unacceptable, after fully charging it, it would not last even 12 hours before the battery runs out and also i have noticed that the battery or back of the phone gets hot, I would say hotter than before I did the upgrade. I am just wondering if anyone could share some thoughts. I hope Apple comes out with a fix to this issue because I have noticed that a lot of people are having this problem.
    Thank you

Hmmm...Apple doesn't support downgrading. If true you must have jailbroken your phone rather than properly repair the problem.

  • Battery life of my iPhone5 is running out fast.

Sinds 10 days i ame the happy user of a iPhine5. But the battery life of my iPhone5 is running out fast. 5 times faster than my earlyer iPhone 4.
Wahat can i do abbout it

    1. If you don't use LTE, turn it off (Settings app)
    2. Let the battery run completely flat and recharge it fully; repeat that a few times
    3. Close all running apps and restart the phone.
On the first day I had it, my iPhone got through the battery in about 7 hors. After doing the above, it still shows 34% and I haven't charged it for 2 full days

  • I'm from India and after update i can't turn off my 3G or i have the option to turn on/off LTE only. I don't want to be always on 3G because my battery is running out of life.

This is the same as what happened to customers in most of the rest of the world in a past release, and it's because carriers want to stop supporting older transport methods.
There's nothing you can do about it other than complain to your carrier, as they're likely the ones who asked Apple to remove the option.

  • Battery running out fast om 5.0.1, also no zoom in camera, how can I fix that? Anybody?

Since updating my phone to 5.0.1, it seems like the battery runs out FAST!  Just sitting....Also the zoom doesn't work on the camera. I tried "pinching the screen" but I think with the case on it, that doesn't work, tapping twice doesn't work either.  Don't like these changes!  Very annoying.  Phone was fine until they recommended updating....Folks, don't do it if you haven't ......not until they get the bugs out.  Any way to go back to the last operating system, without going crazy?   anybody?

Have you tried basic troubleshooting techniques?v I have IOS 5.1 with no problems

  • Why after installing iOS 7 my iPad started to reboot by itself, my battery lost autonomy and the iPad got slowwwwwwer?

Why after installing iOS 7 my iPad started to reboot by itself, my battery lost autonomy and the iPad got slowwwwwwer?

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • After installing iOS 5, my ipad 2 will not accept my access code and has locked me out

after installing iOS 5, my ipad 2 will not accept my access code and has locked me out.  Any ideas?

I don't know if your symptoms are the same as mine, but my problem is the same. Specifically:
My update seemed to go fine, but I noticed that items in Notification Center were not current or missing, as compared to the iPhone. Also, when iTunes saw the iPad without it being connected by cable, the portion of the iTunes screen that displayed the OS status was blank, and it told me that I had to connect physically to update. When I did, iTunes confirmed that iOS 5 was indeed installed and current.
With this, I decided to shut down the iPad completely, and restart it. When it came back up, the lock screen had changed. I now get a full keyboard (not just a number pad). When I attempt to enter my 4-digit passcode (and I know I'm entering the correctone), the iPad won't take it. Now it's completely locked and I can't access it.
The odd thing is the way the screen changed to display a full keyboard on the lock screen. This didn't happen to the iPhone.
All devices are running the current versions of everything.

  • Why does my battery run out fast?

My battery on my iPhone 4S is always running out fast. I have to charge it multiple times in a day. I delete the running apps, but it still doesnt work.

Maybe because you never put it down.
Maybe because you never allow it to go to sleep.
Maybe because it is constantly checking email.
Possibly because some app is running using location services.
Try a search of the forums for battery issues, you'll find many threads with steps that can be taken to mitigate battery usage.
Depending on what I'm doing... I can easily make it through a full day on a single charge or completely drain the battery in about 6 hrs.
