Battery Light Stays Yellow

I put a new battery in my 17" Powerbook G4. It seldom shows more than 99% charge. Also, the light on the power cord is very seldom green. I mainly use the laptop plugged into the computer. I have not even used it away from the power cord since installing the new battery.
Should it contiualy be charging? This was not the case with my previous battery.

Did you calibrate it first? Per the manual, you need to calibrate it:
Calibrating Your Battery
To get the longest running time from your PowerBook battery, complete the following
steps during the first week you have your PowerBook.
To initially calibrate your battery, follow these steps:
1 Plug in the power adapter and fully charge your PowerBook battery until the light on
the power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar
indicates that the battery is fully charged.
2 Disconnect the power adapter and operate your PowerBook solely off of the battery.
When the battery gets low, you will see the first low-battery warning dialog on the
screen. Continue to run the PowerBook off its battery until it goes to sleep; at that
point the battery has been sufficiently drained for calibration.
3 Connect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged
again.
Important: You only have to fully discharge and then charge your battery once to
calibrate it. After that, you can connect and disconnect the power adapter when the
battery is at any charge level.
If you purchased additional batteries, repeat the calibration procedure with the
additional batteries as well. For more information about your power adapter and
battery, see “Using Your Power Adapter” on page 23 and “Battery” on page 51.

i have a T40 that the battery light stays on with the unit shut down and unplugged. It would appear that the battery is always discharging with this issue.

Battery light stays on for a long time when putting to sleep

so in addition to the other problem that i have about standby on the x201, sometimes, very rarely, when i put the computer to sleep, the moon indicator will flash like normal and stay on after 3 or 4 flashes, but sometimes the battery indicator will stay on even after the moon light has come on. the battery indicator will go out a few seconds aftder the computer has gone to sleep. has this happened to anyone else? usually the battery indicator goes out as soon as the standby indicator is solidly lit.

I occasionally have the same issue. Only workaround I have found is to reawaken my thinkpad and put to sleep/hybernate again.
Sorry, not much of a solution to offer.

Power company turned off power today. Now my computer won't start up. Light stays yellow.

Macpro 17inch just shut down while using. Tried removing battery and SMC to no avail. Have had this problem before over the last six months but would always restore. Now you just click on the power button front light stays on for 2 sec

Hi, My 17 inch Mac pro laptop just shut down and I can't get it to turn on again. This has happen multiple times over the last six months. Looked through the forum and tried removing the battery and resetting the SMC control to no avail. I was having issues also with the screen a month ago but that resolved by itself. When I took it into the genius bar for screen problems I was told I'd probably need a new CPU board because the vram may be going bad and they just don't fix that
problem. Have held off because of a potential $500 repair and awaiting ivy bridge technology. Does anyone in the community know how I can restart my portable. Right now you turn on the machine and the front light stays on for 2 sec and you hear the machine click off?

Red light stays on..then battery with lightning bolt show

I have the 8330 curve and as i was getting out of my car tonight and my phone dropped. It shut off and hasnt turned on since...i plugged it into my charger and the red led light stays on and then goes off and a battery with a lightning bolt shows on the screne. Is there any thing to do to fix this?

Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Please note that "known good" and "new" are not necessarily the same thing...while rare, a new battery can be defective.

Toshiba Satellite L505D wont go into sleep mode. Freezes before power light blinks yellow.

When i try to put my laptop into sleep mode by closing the lid, it freezes before it enters sleep mode. i get a black screen when i pick the lid back up, and the power light stays green, instead of blinking yellow like its supposed to. Last time i remember it working properly was around June 6th, i took my laptop to my buddy's place so we could watch the new Halo 4 trailers and i know it worked properly on both the car ride over and the car ride home. anyone have any ideas whats wrong?

Simple battery light question

When my battery is taken out of the computer, pressing the button on my battery causes the first light to blink. When putting it in the computer and plugging in the power adapter, the first light blinks continuously, and the power adapter's color changes to an orange color.
Is this normal? Is this just an indication of the battery charging? Or is there a problem with the battery?

If the battery light blinks then this indicates that it needs to be recharged.
The power adapter should stay orange while the battery is charging and upon completion will turn green.
Have you been able to charge the battery until the adapter turns green?
What do the battery lights do then if you press the button?

The battery light flashes when connected to mains power (intermittent fault), when I unplug mains and re-connect flashing stops and battery (high capacity) continues to charge.
Also when battery light flashes the key board back lighting stays on when it should blank out and if the back lighting is off and the battery light starts flashing the key board back lighting doesn't turn on, all other functions seem to work fine.
The battery charges and holds charge as it should (when light flashes battery doesn't charge).

Did you notice this issue from first day of purchase?
Theoretically it could be possible that your battery starts to malfunction
At the other hand an electronic issue might be possible too
However, try this:
Remove ac adaptor and battery. Then press and hold power buttons 30 sec long.
Then insert the battery and connect AC adaptor again does it helps?
By the way: is BIOS up to date? If not, perform an update.

All fixed, the earth contact in the power jack was bent down allowing intermittent contact and limiting current. I bent the contact back up to where it should be and all is good.

Adapter light stays on all the time...

My battery stopped charging on my MacBook a couple of weeks ago and since then it's had it's DC Inboard replaced, logic board replaced and battery replaced.
When I first got home with it last night the adapter was not working - just showed that it was plugged in but not charging - dh has a MBP and my adapter didn't work with his either and his power cord worked fine on my computer.
Today - tried my adapter again and it worked - but light stayed green even when it was charging - unplugged from my computer and the light stayed on, unplugged from the wall and the light still stayed on for a bit. Plugged it in again, didn't work at all. Plugged it in again with three prong into wall and it worked - is charging with amber light on right now however, when I unplug it from my computer the amber light just stays on. Also - my battery is 100% and the amber light did not change to green, said that it was still charging?
Am I making any sense at all? Do I need to get a new adapter or what the heck is going on now???

N95 8GB camera light stay on all the time

I have had the N95 for 5 months and have been very pleased with it. I have now developed a problem with the camera light. not sure how or when it happened. Other than the fact the camera light stays on all the time, the only way to get the light off is to remove the battery...!!!

Hi, Ernie5. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! This seems to be an isolate case. Have you tried to press and hold the volume down and power keys? You can also try to charge the phone to make sure that it has enough battery left on it. Keep us posted on the outcome. Thanks!
