Battery Loses Power After Update

Since upgrading my software on my Iphone 5 with the most current update the battery only lasts 4 to 6 hours. Before the upgrade my phone lasted often 2 days without a charge. This phone is basically USELESS for business now. I'm so disappointed!!!

Capacity now dropped to 94%.... Do I need to calibrate again, did something went wrong in calibration? Or is my battery broken?

Is there a fix yet for the loss of battery power after updating to Lion? I've done the cmd-opt-shift restart and it didn't help.  This problem has gone beyond annoying now - it is absolutely maddening!    What is Apple's official response????

Chris: your friends are woefully uninformed, and no one should pay any attention to their bad advice.

  • My iPhone loses contacts after update

My iPhone loses contacts after updates.  Also I noticed the My Phone option on main contacts screen is now Gone too.

I was finally able to get into Recovery mode using a different computer with iTunes -- one I had never sync'd with. That was after having logged into iCloud and removed the iPad from 'Find my iPad'. This seems to have enabled me to reset to factory settings. That isn't entirely certain, as I had not attempted to recover using the 'different computer' prior to having removed the device from 'Find My iPad'.
Anyway. I then restored from iCloud, (it does give the choice between restoring from Cloud or iTunes).
If one doesn't have one's Apple ID this will not work. Also, now with iOS 7, you need your Apple ID -- NOT your device passcode -- if you wish to disable 'Find My i[Device]' in Settings. And you need to NOT FORGET your device's passcode. Because I'm hearing that with iOS 7 this will cease to be recoverable/resettable if forgotten.
I actually do have 'Find my i[Device]' enabled, even though I am extremely skeeved by the fact that the iPad spuriously disabled itself while riding around in my bag. I also activated 'ask to join wifi networks', so that if it ever *is* disabled it should remain 'visible' to the net, since its basic background processes appear to still run, even when disabled. Not totally sure about this, but I was able to see the device in 'Find My iPad' while it was disabled.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Settings -> General -> Backroung App refresh
Either selectively disable the ones you do not need, or just disable the feature altogether.  Esepcially for apps that would be using location services, this has the potential to be a huge battery drain.
Also, in Privacy under Locations services, system services, disable at least the "popular near me" and "location based iAds" - both of these use location services a lot as they try to track your movements in real time.  You can disable everything in system services if you wish (won't harm anything).

  • Battery loses power

Hi has any had problems with the battery losing power just after it has been fully charged. I try to search through songs and it tells me I need to re-charge it.

I've had my PB for a little over a year now, and I almost always let it sleep overnight. Up until recently, it would lose about 5% power overnight and I would leave it plugged in all day when I was at work. In the last couple weeks though, it has started losing more like 10-15% power overnight! I haven't made any major updates or anything.
I just read a couple things: number one, your PB should not be plugged in ALL the time. Number two, you should re-calibrate the battery "every few months" according to Apple. I have only calibrated my battery the initial time and one other time, about 4 months ago. So I think it's time to re-calibrate. I'll let y'all know if it helps!

  • Battery loses power as I watch

Has anyone else had the problem of the battery losing power quickly? I can watch the charge go out. This started after I downloaded the Bing Music app. I deleted the Bing Music app and still the battery is losing charge quickly. I cannot see any way to open the itouch to even have another battery put in. Thank you!

How old are your ipod touches? After a certain period of time your battery loses its ability to hold a charge. If it is pretty old you might want to consider enrolling in the battery replacement program through Apple or replacing it via a third-party site.

  • Lumia 1520 Battery Discharge Issue After Updating ...

After updating to Denim, my Nokia Lumia 1520 started to experience the following symptoms:
Phone charges to 100%, I disconnect and use an app like Instagram BETA, Internet Explorer, Lumia Camera, or any game--after no more than 5 minutes of use, the phone gives a "Critical Low Battery" alert and shuts down. If I try to restart phone immediately, it makes it to the AT&T splash screen or lockscreen and then same battery message appears and shuts down. If I wait 10-15 minutes after the shutdown to restart phone (without recharging) the phone will stay on, but battery level will report to be in the low 20s or 10s (whereas no more than 20 minutes ago, it was 100%).
When phone is at 100% battery: I take 2-5 photos or record mere seconds of video and I get the same "Critical Low Battery" alert. Upon restarting, some of the photos or video are nonexistent or corrupt files and battery level is reported at 2-5%.
However, if my phone is plugged in to charger, none of these "Critical Low Battery" alerts come up and I am able to use phone as usual. Considering that I cannot take a vacation and capture nature's beauty with an AC adapter always connected, this is a serious drawback.
    Steps I've Taken:
    Soft-reset
    Full factory-reset
Moved all apps off microSD card (this improved situation maybe 5%)
Disabled almost all background app use in Battery Saver
Replaced microSD card when I thought this was a memory write/read issue
Installed "Battery" app to monitor battery use. After 750 data points were logged, my average battery life is reported at "16 minutes," which sounds about right.
My warranty should be expired since I purchased the phone December 2013, so I'm checking in here if anybody has had any luck with battery replacements or with a solution to this issue? At the same time, this issue arose strictly after updating to Denim and I've seen other users report this EXACT scenario. Is there any hope for Lumia 1520 users on this?

  • MacBook Pro Battery Life Draining After Updating to Yosemite

    Hi,
I have a 2011 MacBook Pro. After updating to Yosemite a few months, I have experienced a severe loss of battery life. I was averaging around 6-8 hours on a charge, and that is now down to about 3. I have reset the PRAM, etc. and SOMETIMES that will work but not always. I typically have only one program running at a time, Chrome, but sometimes it's a mix between Chrome, Windows, iTunes. But my computer usage patterns have not changed since before/after updating. The only thing I can think of is that it is caused by Yosemite.
When I check my Activity Monitor, the apps with the highest CPU usage are WindowServer, kernal_task, and Chrome Helper. I have also disabled several plugins/features of Chrome to no avail.
Has anyone experienced similar issues or have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Is one of the 'etc.' a SMC reset?

After that, my battery percentage never goes up, just going down until the 0%, even when I'm charging it. And I have to remove the battery for 5 minutes in order to device be able to recognize the real percentage.
what hapend for my device? Is it battery issues and should I change it? or it is device problem because of my mistake to displacement of the positive and negative poles? anyone else has the same problem?

Vignesh_Manoharan, What is happening is that your on-device battery meter is off-sync with the actual battery charge.
Connect to your OEM wall outlet battery charger and while still connected and powered on,
remove the battery a minute to reboot. After reboot leave to fully charge to 100%.
Thus will reset the false charge reading. You may need to do perform this procedure 2-3 times.

  • Lose Ringtones After Update?

After an update to the iPhone, like 3.1.2 for example, are you supposed to lose all custom ringtones assigned to contacts when using Exchange services for contact updates? I did the update and then the Exchange service had to repopulate all of my contacts. I realize that ringtones are not part of the contact data that most Exchange services maintain, but I thought that the backup/restore of the phone that's done as part of a software update like 3.1.2 would maintain my contact data. It didn't, and the Exchange service needed to repopulate all my contacts, which it did, but obviously without my ringtones. Is this normal? How do you maintain ringtones across an update when using push services?

Actually, I thought a system update does do a backup and restore. I thought it wiped out the data, applied the system OS, then restored the data. Otherwise how would all of the settings, applications, and other data be in the same status as before the update? In any case, I wouldn't have thought that all contact data would need to be re-applied afterwards. But actually my main problem, aside from this, is that my contacts are consistently losing their custom ringtones. I use push services for my contacts, and I can understand why re-population of my contact data loses them since a ringtone isn't a maintained data field in Exchange, but this situation only makes it worse if I'll lose ringtones after every system update.

  • Battery life decreases after update

After I updated iOS 7.1.1 for my iPhone 5S, every time when I charge my phone, the battery is not 100% full anymore. The first day after updating, the batter was just 98%, the second day was 95% and so on. I have to unplug the adapter and plug in again, then the battery goes from 95% (or 98%) to 100%. I don't know what's wrong with the phone, but in this case, I charge my phone overnight but the battery could not be 100%. Are there any software errors? Please help me!

  • HT1490 battery life reduced after updating to osx mountain lion

I used to have a battery life of 7hrs+ but after updating my os to mountain lion 10.8 it has reduced to 3hrs. I've bought this macbook in august and i dont think there'll be any issue with the battery for just 3 months. I guess this has to be something related to mountain lion. Can anyone please suggest any method to increase my battery performance again...

Battery life on my 2012 mbp is also terrible, getting 2 hours out of it. They checked the battery and said its perfectly fine..
