Battery monitoring software shows 0% charge - Satellite 1900

My Satellite 1900 has stopped charging the battery. It works fine on mains and says it is charging but when you check the battery monitor it shows 0% charge. Up to this point the battery appeared fine with 1 to 2 hours use from one charge.
Is this a problem with the computer or the battery monitoring software, or could the battery have an instant failure? The computer had not been moved from the desk so had not been dropped or knocked.

I dont think there is a battery or hardware problem. It looks like the notebook runs properly with battery power.
Try to access the Toshiba Power Saver and go to the last tab called battery power meter.
There you can click individual battery icon for more info. Maybe the setting must be only reset.

  • Which battery monitoring software?

My new MacBook is apparently in the UPS truck, scheduled to be delivered today (geez, hurry up already!).
So, I'm writing up a list of software I need to download. What's the hot setup for battery monitoring/information software these days?

    nice, enjoy it.
here is a post i was part of, that posts some pretty useful software for that new machine.

  • Battery can't be fully charged - Satellite L20

I bought a new L20 notebook. I left it connected to the AC during last night but the battery charging stopped at 84%. I tried to completely discharge the battery and charge it again but the charging stopped again at 84%.
The LED indicator of the battery is yellow and never gets green. Is there a problem in my battery?

    Hi Mona
I have never heard about something like that. Try what Jimi suggested and if this not work please contact your local dealer and explain him the situation. Try to check this with other battery. If there is no success the unit has valid warranty and I believe that the battery can be exchanged.
This kind of problems need detailed investigation to find out where the problem is.

  • My iPad 2 was without battery for about a month or so. but when i charged it, had 2% battery and it showed not charging . Now its totally dead and not charging just then apple logo comes and go off the screen when i try to charge it :(

Any Help would be Appreciated !

Charge it over-night and try a reset the next morning.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Battery monitor app that shows ACTUAL drain

I see a lot of battery monitor apps that show a huge list of what the remaining time would be using certain features. I don't know what good this list of time is when you have a combination of them running.
I am looking for a battery monitor that shows what is ACTUALLY running on my iphone and what percentage it is contributing to the ACTUAL drain of my battery. If I have the bluetooth, WiFi and ipod running, I would like it shown in a list and the percentage it represents to the load (and possibly what added time I would gain by turning it off)
If the load of something running is really insignificant or absolutely required to have the phone operational, then it probably is not worth listing.
I want to have the question QUICKLY answered:
What can I turn off that is presently running to increase the remaining time on my battery?

Basically anything and everything running on the phone consumes power. A better place to start would be ask yourself what are the minimum services you need to have running? Once that is answered, turn everything else off.
If the load of something running is really insignificant or absolutely required to have the
phone operational, then it probably is not worth listing.
No one here can answer that for you. Example: Wifi and 3G are essential for me. But you might not need either.

  • Battery Monitor problems

I have a problem with battery monitor. My MacBook shows a charge of 30%, then suddenly goes into emergency sleep mode. If you plug the power in immediately, the system awakes again but the battery monitor then shows something like 7% charge.
I have done everything in the knowledge base about battery problems. Letting it completely cycle (drain), reset pram, etc. I have bought two new batteries, but both act the same. The system goes into emergency sleep mode suddenly, no warning about a low battery and it happens when the charge left according to BM is around 30%.
For me, this behaviour started with 10.5 (fresh install). Before that, the system was very reliable in this repect. It would give a ample warning. Not anymore.
I have tried everything at the hardware level. I think it is safe to conclude that it is more likely a software problem that started with 10.5. Does anybody recognize this and is there anything I could do that is not in the knowledge base already?

Thanks, but that didn't help much. The only thing resetting the SMC seemed to do was to make the battery "remaining charge" more accurate. Basically, it now tells me after unplugging with a full charge that I have 15 minutes remaining. The "battery low warning" also now appears. But my battery life is even more dismal than ever. Also, I just checked the system profile. Here's my battery stats NOW:
    Manufacturer: Sony
    Device name: ASMB012
    Pack Lot Code: 0003
    PCB Lot Code: 0000
    Firmware Version: 102a
    Hardware Revision: 0500
    Cell Revision: 0303
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 263
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: No
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 473
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 205
    Condition: Check battery
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): -1991
    Voltage (mV): 11514
Notice the full charge capacity has dropped significantly in just a couple weeks and in just 7 cycles!! This is ridiculous. Also note the amperage. A negative amperage? Odd.
As mentioned above, I used to have well over 3 hours of battery life THE DAY BEFORE I upgraded to 10.5.5. These battery problems started the second 10.5.5 was installed. As far as I'm concerned 10.5.5 killed by battery somehow. I will be calling Apple and demanding a replacement. I can't think of any other options at this point.
The other odd thing that happened after resetting the SMC was that I left the computer for a couple hours (powered on, AC) and when I cam back the screen was flashing on and off. Like the auto dim control went haywire...light, dark, light, dark, .... It returned to normal the second I moved the mouse. This is yet another oddity I never had until upgrading to 10.5.5.

  • With full charged battery my Satellite 1900 runs 2 minutes only

I've got a Satellite 1900-803 laptop, the problem is that, I charge the battery up to 100% I then turn the mains off but the battery lasts about 2 min then battery warning sound comes on, I click the battery icon on bottom right and it still says 95%, so the first few times I left it and the computer turned itself off.
Do you know what the problem may be If there is one. I'm running it on long live as well.
    Please could you explain?
If you can't answer, have Toshiba got it own customer support contact email address???

    Hi
I presume the battery is dead! How old is it?
The notebook seems to be a little bit old and if the battery was never replaced, then Im 100% sure that this could be a reason why notebook cannot run on battery for a longer period.
The solution is the battery replacement ;)
Either you will google a little bit to find some online dealers who sell the compatible batteries for this notebook or you will contact the ASP in you country and will order the right battery pack.
To find the right ASP check this:

It may just be giving you false battery info. Unless it actually dies prematurely, Its just a software error. I would recommend restoring. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

  • HT3964 Installed a new battery for a Macbook 2,1 New battery not charging. Battery symbol shows (Not charging) and replace battery. Green LED on magsafe connection. Disconnection results in an instant shutdown.

I have just installed a new Battery after the old one showed (Not Charging) and when you clicked on this icon the dropdown"condition replace now". Problem now is the computer still shows the same message in the top bar (Not Charging) and the dropdown also shows "condition relace now". the magsafe show the greem LED i.e not charging, but providing power. If you disconnect the magsafe the computer powers off instantly confirming we have power. I have carried out resetting the SMC controller and still no change. Tested the standby voltage on the magsafe pins etc, all in spec. What should I do now, as I don't want to keep spending more and more. Bellow is the info from the system profiler.

    Hi sanjoyapple,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that it can be concerning when your battery is not functioning as you would expect. There are several steps that I would recommend in this situation to troubleshoot. Troubleshooting the MagSafe adaptor and possibly resetting the SMC would be two of these steps. Please read over the attached article for instructions and more information on troubleshooting batteries.

    Hi DaVince Vince,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear what issues you were having that led up to the attempted Erase All, and/or exactly what behavior you are seeing now (restarting, not responding at all, etc). If you are seeing an Apple Logo screen and your iPhone does not appear to be starting correctly, you may find the following articles helpful:
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
