Battery not at 100% when charged and on charger

Had the Fascinate for aout 3 weeks now, and once the phone is done charging, it'll say 98% or 99% sometime 100% but as soon as you disconnect the cable, it automatically drops 2-3% and I start out at 97%. Same thing while turning the phone off while charging, turning it back on while still on the charger, and states it's done charging but it's only at 98%.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it something to do with the software or possible hardware issue with the port?

Normal behavior, that is.  Li-ion batteries don't like to be held at 100% charge - it kills their life.  So the charging system charges it fully and then let's it drop off a few % before topping it off again.  This is why you sometimes see a 1-5% rapid drop when you unplug it.  You can force more charge on by briefly unplugging and then re-plugging it once full charge is indicated.  This "bump charge"  gets you a little more run time, but also gets you a shorter battery life.  YMMV.

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

  • Battery went from 100% to 0% and won't charge :C

Hi guys i need some help.
About 15min ago i was reading an article on a website when the screen 'blinked' it turned off going completly black then turned on again. Then i noticed that it said i had 0% battery but i have my MacBook Pro is plugged in right now, the battery was fully charged and its plugged in?
    So.2 problems
    1. Battery went from 100% charged to 0% in a matter of seconds WHILE PLUGGED IN.
    2. Battery is not charging at all now, just stays at 0%
Is this a common thing? like has this happened to lots of people before and is a known issue?
What info do i need to post up so you guys can more effectively help me? also might need to show me how to get this info.

    How old is your Mac?
Open System Info and look at the battery section. If it says Service Battery then take the system to Apple and have it serviced.

  • Iphone not working fully when charging

When charging my iphone freezes a lot until un plugged. I can not answer calls ETC also my alarm is now super quiet but it is not the speakers as if i play the ipod it is fine.
    Any ideas?

    Hi £orind@,
If you haven't already done so, does resetting the iPhone help the issue? You may want to reset it while connected to power.

If not, you may want to restore your iPhone using a computer with iTunes. Please be sure to backup your iPhone first.

  • MacBook Pro 2009 battery not holding it's charge.

My battery (manufacture date 10/11/2009) is not holding it's charge, and on System Profiler it says it has done 601 cycles, and condition 'check battery'. Does this mean I need to replace my battery?

    Yes.

  • Address Book "Note" is truncated when printing and syncing

I just upgraded to 10.5.2 and this is still a problem: The "note" section of a contact in the Address Book is truncated when syncing to my iTouch (and I've heard the same problem for the iPhone). I haven't run into a limit to the amount of text you can type in a Contact's note section on the Mac. I have some Contacts with rather lengthy notes. But when printing a Contact (and checking the box for the Note to be included) it prints a long note in two narrow columns on one page and if the note won't fit on one page, it truncates it. Even less of the note gets sync'd to the iTouch. If this isn't fixed soon, I'm going to go back to Outlook and my Axim pda. I gotta have my Notes!

Address works with Phonetic Name. Doesn't like the Name only for some reason.
    Solved!

  • Apple earpiece not showing up when charging.

Since the last OS upgrade my Apple iPhone earpiece no longer shows up on iPhone's screen when charging. Any ideas what has happened?

    It's not a problem.
It depends on how long it has been off.

  • Battery not working - 100% charged

Whenever I disconnect the power supply my MacBook goes off. The status is showing the battery at 100%. When I try to turn it on it flashes like it is going to come on and then dies again. I have tried removing the battery and doing all that resetting stuff from the website.
Any ideas? So I need a new battery?

  • Ipad will not turn off when charging

When I charge my iphone I usually plug it in and then power it off. I cant get this to work with ipad; it will power down and then restart. How can I get it to stay powered down?

I posted this on a previous thread a couple of day ago. I don't know exactly how the iPad is supposed to behave, but I was able to experience not being able to shut the device off completely after having done so for weeks. For me it seems to be related to how low the battery is ....
I experienced this very "bug" last night when I started to charge my iPad. I had never run the battery down to 15% prior to last night. When I plugged in the charger, it would restart, I would turn it off and then it would restart. I repeated this process four or five times and then I finally decided to simply put the iPad to sleep while it was charging, before I turned in for the night.
When I woke up this morning to a 100% charge I decided to try to repeat the process. I unplugged the iPad from the charger, turned it on and then turned it off again. Then I plugged the charger back in, the iPad turned on and then I turned it off and it stayed off this time.
My suggestion is that it may be that the iPad is supposed to behave this way when the battery power drops below a certain percentage. I too became a bit concerned at first as I had never experienced that before. Now that the iPad is behaving "normally" again, I am assuming that the device is built to continue to restart while recharging when the battery drains to a low level.
Mine is working fine, no worries and all is good. Happy holidays!

  • Macbook Battery Not Holding A Full Charge Please Help!!!

I Have a Macbook that is just over a year old and I have noticed a considerable decrease in battery performance over the past few months. I leave it plugged in but I do use it without the plug at least a few times a month lke the Apple site recommends. Now, when I charge my battery fully the computer says it is 100% charged yet it only has 68% capacity/status. (It says this on the coconut battery widget I have) I only have 32 load cycles on the battery so it is obvious that I'm not a havey battery user. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem I see no reason why my capacity should be 68% after only 32 loadcycles and one year especially since apple claims it should hold 80% after 300 loadcycles.
    Thank You

When was the last time you calibrated your battery? I do mine every other month. Have you done the battery update?
You might try to reset the SMC.

  • Battery icon never full when charging iPhone with iTunes 8.2

I'm 99% sure this just started happening with iTunes 8.2
It's pretty minor as things go, but still annoying. After charging, my iPhone shows fully charged both with the large Battery while docked and on the little icon in the upper right corner of the iPhone.
However, the iTunes icon still shows the lightning bolt.
The iTunes icon does progress from being empty to full during the charging process, but never gets to the point where the full "plug" replaces the charging "lightning bolt"
Is anyone else experiencing this with an original iPhone?
One thing I did consider is that if iTunes 8.2 is being released in advance of the next gen iPhone and that device has a larger capacity battery, the iTunes might not think an older iPhone is completely charged when, in fact, it is. This seems a bit far fetched to me, but would be a bug nonetheless.
Please pass along your experiences here...

    More information....
I left my iPhone docked after the iPhone itself indicated that it was fully charged.
About three hours after the iPhone displayed the completed charge plug, the iTunes charging icon finally changed from lightning bolt to plug.
Bottom line, either the iPhone displays a charge complete icon too early, or iTunes does too late.
Now, I'm starting to wonder if my formerly far fetched idea about iTunes being, umm, tuned more towards the next gen iPhone's batter may not have been that far fetched.
    Anyone else?

  • MBP battery drains in sleep when charger has no power

At home I regularly plug my MBP's charger into an outlet that's on a light switch. When I'm done working for the night, I put the laptop to sleep and then turn off the light. Usually (since I'll be leaving first thing in the a.m. and the charger cord is kind of in the way) I unplug the charger and stow it, but every now and then I just leave the laptop plugged in and turn off the light.
I've discovered that when I do this--leave the fully-charged, sleeping laptop attached to an adaptor that is not getting power--the battery drains until the point that the laptop goes into hibernation. So when it wakes up, less than 10% charge is left.
In all other respects I have no problem with the battery and resting overnight (unplugged) it only loses a percent or two of its charge.
Is this a bad adaptor, possibly?

I'm not sure how that helps me figure out the problem. I suppose I'm still having problems expressing myself clearly.
You have expressed yourself very clearly. I got it from reading your original post.
The only thing I can come up with is somehow the charger or the Macbook is bleeding power back through the charger into the electrical lines.
There should not be any voltage at the AC prongs of the charger when it is connect to the MBP. The flow of current should only be one way. You can check this with good multi meter.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen does not respond properly when charging?

Having real issues with my iPod touch 5th gen touchscreen not responding when it's on charge. Parts of the screen go dead or need several taps etc. Tried removing case etc. made sure I'm using included charger and directly to the mains not on an extension. Is it faulty?

Some other users have reported same problem. I have not heard of a resolution. You can try:
    - Using another cable
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does my ipad not work properly when charging

when my ipad is plugged to charger it does not work properly  goes crazy

Not sure what 'goes crazy' means but it most likely should not do that.  Try a reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Also try it plugged into another outlet (on another circuit) and/or try another charger.
