Battery not functioning?

ON my MacBook that I bought in May of 06, Just recently have I had issues with the power. Lately, I have gotten bout 1.2 hours out of my battery. Just yesterday, have I got 30 minutes out of my battery. I am just wondering if there is anything that I can do to try to fix this. My cycle count is 323, and full charge is 3005. Thanks

Have you tried calibrating your battery? I had similar problems with my macbook (First production batch 2006) that went away after calibration.

I had to do mine twice before I saw any benefit.

Is one of the 'etc.' a SMC reset?

  • Battery not functioning correctly

My battery on my iphone won't hold a charge. As soon as I disconnected it from the charger it decreases rapidly. It gets extremely hot as well. It also takes hours to charge. I took it to apple and they gave me a new iphone (refurbished) and after I synced it the same problems started. I took it back and they said it was a software issue and to sync it as a new iphone. Same problems. Does anyone know what this means and what I can do? I am at the end of my rope!! If you could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't think you can salvage it. The battery in my 2003-vintage PpwerBook in the original, shows only 130 cycles, and a health of about 85 percent. However, it can only run the computer until it hits about 60 percent charge and then dies. A guy at an Apple Store looked at it and said that, when the "dies" point is roughly the same percentage each time, it typically indicates a bad cell.
He did offer this longshot procedure in a case like mine: after the computer shuts down, recharge while watching the percent meter and let the new charge reach about half of the shut-down percent--in my case, that would be 60/2 or 30 percent. Let the battery run down again, then charge to 10 percent more, 40 in my case. Do this until yu have charges well past the old "die" point.
He explained that, rather than die, a cell can "forget" its state and the above procedure can sometimes "wake up" the cell and get it back to the party. Didn't work on mine, unfortunately. The previous owner ran the PB on wall power nearly all the time which doesn't help battery performance.
Also make sure your ac adaptor is putting out 65W. The adaptor that came with mine is for a 15" PB and only puts out 45W. It cannot start the computer unless the flaky battery is installed.

I assume this means I need a new battery?  This was the message I got when I did the battery check.
The battery will not charge.  Laptop just runs on AC power and battery is in but will not charge.  What happens that causes cells in battery to not work?  I did leave it off a few months.  Would take make the battery go bad?

  • Escape and Menu keys do not function

On my 9860 the menu and escape key sometimes do not function.
When I press the telephone key the menu and esc works. If I repeat this 4-5 times the keys work in all applications.
    - for some time.
So I don't think this is a hardware problem.
I pulled the battery, I made a complete restore of the system - nothing helped.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Such problems often are caused by moisture intrusion into the device...if that is at all possible, then...
    REMOVE YOUR BB BATTERY NOW!!!
Run, don't walk, to this FAQ:
    http://http://www.ehow.com/how_7307294_dry-out-blackberry-rice.html
Do everything it says, including waiting the maximum recommended time (perhaps longer...perhaps 5 days). Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.
Otherwise, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

  • External Mice register but do not function

I can not get any USB mouse to function with my Toshiba Satellite A665D.
The mice all register and install drivers when they are plugged in.  The device manager shows them functioning perfectly, but they do not function at all.  Every few minutes while a mouse is plugged in, the computer makes the device disconnect notification sound.
I've tried multiple mice, testing the USB ports with an HDD, uninstalling all the USB devices and mice and reinstalling, turning off the Power Saving for all USB devices, toggling Legacy USB, testing the mice on other computers, Safe Mode, removing the battery for 15 minutes, and performing various arcane rituals.  Nothing is working.

Have you tried using the mice on other systems, to make sure they connect properly?  Some USB mice have a button on them to pair it when you are first connecting, and if you don't hit the button, it will never connect.  Worth checking out, just in case.  Seems like you have covered all of the bases otherwise.  Strange problem indeed.

  • Battery not working properly after upgrading to 10.8.5

    Hi guys,
    i have upgraded recently to OS X 10.8.5 and now battery charge is always 0% and battery charging light in green state; system is indicating "replace now" as battery condition;
    the thing is that, before the upgrade, even if battery was not lasting more then 50 minutes (400 and more recharging cycles), it was fine;
    now when I plug the power cable and boot the laptop, it seems is trying 3 times to boot;
I did check and I have the latest SMC firmware; trying to reset it as described in
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    did not work.
I suppose i have to bring it to the support but anyone with a similar issue?
    Thanks
    G.

    Thanks for your reply;
yes, the update raised is probably picking up that my battery is not anymore in good condition; as it is indicating  "replace now" as condition and Apple documentation states:
Replace Now: The battery is functioning normally but holds significantly less charge than it did when it was new. You can continue to use the battery until you replace it without harming your computer.
Saying "functioning normally but holds significantly less charge", I would expect the battery to keep at least the 50 minutes of charge (as before the upgrade); but now is not re-charging at all (0% always and green light status); and the consequence is that as soon as I unplug the power cable, the laptop will die. So I still believe there was something with the upgrade and the SMC firmware (my mac is a MacBookPro.8.2 early 2011).
    Thanks
    G.

  • Ath5k making wireless not functional on Windows?

I used to have Windows XP and my AR5007EG worked just fine.
Then, I uninstalled it, stayed just with Arch for some time and now I am dual booting xp and arch.
The thing is: wireless is not functional anymore on XP; it's recognized and the light is blinking but it doesn't find any network (and there's something like ~30 visible from here).
I'm pretty sure this is not a driver problem, since I tried with ~10 driver versions ranging from 5.6 (2007) to 10.0 (2012) and all of them got the same result. And, well, the device used to work with this same version of Windows, with one of those drivers, and it's definitely not broken, since it works under Linux.
I was wondering if it is possible that the ath5k driver on arch is leaving my device on some kind of state/mode, such that it doesn't work properly on Windows?
I'm asking since AFAIK this device doesn't have an open specification and so I really don't trust this ath5k driver, since it was probably done by reverse engineering, I suppose.

Highly doubt it.  If you really want to test, you can power down and either remove the battery if a laptop, or unplug if a desktop.  Wait 60 sec or so and boot into windows to see if functional.

  • Keypad not functional, have tried everything.

Hi, I have recently come into a serious problem with my Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8300, and a lot of people seem to share this problem:  The keypad is not working at all.  I can scroll the trackball across the different menu items, but I can't press the trackball, nor any of the buttons on the keypad- even the red and green call buttons.
It all started a few days ago when my Curve was working normally.  It had worked fine early that morning, and then I had proceeded to keep it in my pocket during the later morning hours, just as I did every day before that.  However, when I took it out to check my messages, I encountered the issue described above.  This has actually happened to me before on some occasions, but those were few and far between.  A simple battery pull would usually solve the problem.
As the day went on, though, I did numerous battery pulls and the keys still would not work, no matter what I did.  I researched this problem and found that it could be a sign of wetness.  But I was certain that my Curve has never gotten wet, and I was able to prove this by checking the moisture stickers on the battery and the device.  Both did not indicate that the device had gotten wet- the battery sticker was still white with a red strip, and the device sticker was still a white square.  Even so, I still tried all of the solutions given on the other forums, including putting the phone in the oven, freezer, and in dry rice.  None of those worked, so it's clear that this is not an issue of wetness.
I then moved on to the more daring solution of physically taking apart the phone and cleaning the keys with isopropyl alcohol.  I made sure the cleaning was absolutely thorough; I cleaned the keyboard membrane, the trackball and its membrane, the keys themselves, the silver front plate, and even the protective case that housed the phone.  There was no corrosion, but there were tons of dust, dirt, and lint covering all these parts, so I figured that that MUST be the problem.  I put my phone back together and turned it on, though, and the keypad STILL would not respond.
The final thing that I did was back up the phone, reinstall the OS (version 4.5), and reboot the entire phone.  That didn't work either, so it couldn't be a software issue.
Later in the day, though, I did one last battery pull just because, and then I started randomly mashing the keyboard.  Lo and behold, the phone WORKED.  I was so dumbfounded that this is what caused it to work again; I couldn't believe it, and thought it was too good to be true.  Turns out, it was.
For most of the day, the phone worked fine, but one of two things would happen:
    1. The keyboard would lock up completely like before while doing simple tasks, and I would mash the keyboard until it would work again.
    2. The phone would freeze completely and I would have to do another battery pull.
#2 recently happened again a few hours ago, but this time on the battery pull, the keyboard would not function again, even after mashing it numerous times.  So now, I am literally back to square one and left with nothing to do.  I still have NO idea what is causing this problem or whether it is a software or hardware issue.  My phone had gone from working perfectly one day to being completely unusable the next.  Now it seems like it's doing whatever it can to make sure it doesn't work.
By now, most people would probably say that the only solution would be to replace the phone.  However...I can't.  My phone never had a warranty to begin with, and I won't be able to get the phone replaced unless I pay a huge sum of money, as our local Verizon stores don't carry this model anymore.  I am most likely stuck with this phone until our 2-year contract expires in about 4 months.  Until then, I am in need of a way to salvage the phone and make it last those final 4 months.
If you have ANY possible solutions to this doozy of a problem, it would be greatly appreciated.   I hope that RIM acknowledges the many people that have this kind of problem and fixes it soon, because a cell phone should NOT have these kinds of problems, especially in emergency situations when we need them most.

I notice from your system specs that you're running a very old version of Flash. Could you try updating to the latest one which is 10.2.159.1 It also contains a patch to fix a recently discovered [http://www.h-online.com/security/news/item/Adobe-releases-security-update-for-Flash-Player-1228930.html Zero Day exploit]. You can get it from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Have you experienced any unusual events watching Flash videos lately? It's possible that you may have been a victim of just such an attack. • Battery not installed

    Hi,
    I've got a T60 that's almost 2 years old.
Just recently I noticed the PowerManager Gauge occasionally turn grey while connected to the power supply, showing the message "Battery not installed." A few minutes later gauge will turn green again and display the battery charge.
Is it likely to be a bad connection to the battery? It's a genuine Lenovo battery that runs still lasts a good few hours when running off the battery.
Has anyone experienced similar problems, or know of any tools I can use to test the problem?
    Thanks!

I'm just getting this problem too - any luck with you chaps in fixing it? Battery seems to function fine, just the monitoring that is gubbed.

  • Battery not installed message on X200T

    Hi
I have a fully functioning Thinkpad X200T with a working battery.
I've been given a similar 8 cell new battery.  It must be OEM or 3rd party as it doesn't have the same markings as the original battery.
When I plug it in, Lenovo Power Manager says "battery not installed".
Is there anyway to see if this thing works?
    Thanks

if there are no markings on your new battery, then it most likely to be an aftermarket thing. Furthermore, if the new battery doesn't seem to get recognised while the old one does, then i suggest you don't use the new battery to prevent any damages to the laptop.

  • Volume TOUCHPAD on KEYBOARD NOT FUNCTIONING

My volume adjuster on the top of the keybord is not functioning - I am using Pavilion dv6 1308tx

    Hi,
First, try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
If the above fails to correct the issue, try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your IDT Audio Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.
