Battery Overheating, draining quickly and shutting itself off
The phone shuts itself off, at random times after I have locked the screen. I have replaced the sim card and SD card, didn't seem to make a difference. Now when the phone shuts off the phone (where battery is) is very hot to touch, and it does not hold charge well. Otherwise the phone runs fine (no app crashes or long loading times). Only had the phone for 3 days.
I have same problem and can't find a solution yet. Does your phone switch back on by itself about 2 seconds after switching off (while unplugged)?

BB Pearl Flip - ring tones/sounds quit and shuts itself off
I'm having major problems with my phone since I got it.
I'm on my fthird phone since May 2!!! On exactly 8 days on the first phone the ringers/sound would quit and would say there was an error on the phone and wouldn't play the sample music. I brought it back to my dealership and they gave me a new phone. On day 8 again the same problem happened! My dealer suggested buying the extra memory chip and I put it in the phone...I did. The only thing I have downloaded on that phone was msn and facebook. It was also shutting its self off during day 8! 8 days later again the ring tones/sound wasn't working! I went back to my dealer and got a new phone. This time he said to only download facebook and not msn in case it was a memory problem. Now yesterday was day 8....and again the ringtones/sound doesn't work! I don't download anything...no music, videos not even any ringtones! Not hearing your phone ring is somewhat of an important feature to the phone!! Oh and when it's acting up the only way you can get it to stut off and reboot is to pull the battery!..and we all know how long it takes to reboot! you might as well come back in an hour!! Then it will reset and will be okay for a few days! ( or this has been my experience so far!!)
This is my first blackberry and honestly will probably be my last! I haven't been impressed! I want to see if anyone else was experiencing this type of problem. I have 30 days again until I can't exchange it and if I can't get this figured out it will be going back and I'll be getting something different!I had a similar problem with my first 8230 that I rec'd in late April of this year. After only a few days the ringer stopped working and nothing I tried and nothing Bell support did either via the wireless network or at a local Bell Store was able to restore the notification profiles. I had the phone replaced (within 2 days via purolator after I returned the defective one and have since had no problems ... have changed the notification profiles several times in the interim. I'd try several things like making sure you have the most up-to-date software version, and current service books offered by your carrier, before chucking it with BB. For my part, I'm loving the Flip, but will probably be upgrading to a Curve or Storm at the first opportunity (next April!).

Satellite U400-14B shuts itself off and now it wont start up

just got a new Satellite U400 this week.
Was working perfectly the first few days, then last night, it just shuts itself off and now it wont start up.
I press the on button and the row of lights next to it light up, but nothing happens I dont even get as far as the Toshiba screen.
I have tried many things. I left it plugged in overnight, tried taking the battery out and no result as of now.
The little led lights on the bottom indicate that there its plugged in, the battery is white not orange, when pressed they all light up again only for a split second.
The only thing I can liken this too is when a car wont start and you keep turning and turning the key, well in this case pushing a button, and nothing happens, the fans dont whir or anything...
help please...Has extra Memory (RAM) been installed? Try removing one Memory Module and try a different Memory Slot.
If bad memory is not the problem, then there is not much else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repairs. -

absolutely that is frustrating. if the battery life is fine there could be two things software or hardware. to find out if your back up your information in itunes and import pictures and then restore the phone as NEW then you can test it out. if it is still shutting off it is hardware related

I have had the MIFI6620L for less than a week. It keeps shutting itself off, and I couldn't find any mention of this in the user manual. Perhaps it is a battery saving feature, and not a problem with the unit? This is happening after the battery is charged and I have the unit disconnected from the outlet. Thanks.
Yes that is correct. Jetpacks will power themselves down after a default amount of time to preserve battery life. This feature should only be happening when there is no activity on the Jetpack. If you have devices connected it should remain online.
As a Jetpack owner it is a good idea to build a habit of powering on and off your device on a regular basis. This will help you keep your Jetpacks connection to the towers fresh and less prone to disconnections. The best way to use a Jetpack is to power up, consume data and then power down until next time. -
Is anyone having problems with the battery drains quickly and the iphone4 heats up in use and in charging after upgrading to 5.1.1?
I have had the same problem but I seem to be getting somewhere to fixing it!!! My battery was going down at 20% an an hour now its 10% with constant use and 5 in standby !!! So improvement all round
First I did a restore then I drained the battery i started to charge it and when it came on I turned the phone off completely and let it charge to 100% I then left it for a couple of hours on charge at 100. I saw no improvement after 1st drain so I repeated the drain battery and charge steps again with the phone turned off when charging and have seen a very big improvement. I am going to do it again tonight and hopefully problem solved!!!!
The next issue is iMessage as that's playing up and wifi drop out

Fivespot wireless shuts itself off too quickly -- how can I change this?
OK, so the fivespot is very nice. But when I use it as a WIFI device, if it is inactive, it shuts itself off pretty quickly (within an hour, though I haven't timed it exactly). When I try to connect to the internet, my wifi connection has disappeared and I have to go and restart the fivespot, wait 45 seconds until it appears, then reconnect my pc, etc. WHAT A PAIN!!! Is there some way I can adjust the time it waits until it goes to sleep? This is very irritating.
Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window. -
What would cause the original I Pad shut itself off while playing games or online? it is not a battery issue or time issue. When I turn it back on it goes to were I was when I was online ,but have to start games over.
The original iPad has a slow processor and only 256 MB of memory so it often runs into low-memory failures.
Double click the home button and dismiss all of the recents - I do that weekly.
Then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider - I also do that weekly.
Both seem to help to reduce the low-memory faults that occur. -

It could have powered off. Try holding the sleep button down for a few seconds until the apple logo appears to restart it

Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Note. Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery... -

Your iPHone is designed by intention to shut off when there is a reason for the softwarer to believe that danger is immenent to the hardware. This can occurr if the software is running applications that have been corrupted due to all types of different scenarios. My best advice to you would be to restore your device back to default manufactures settings and do NOT restore the current backup of the IOS program currently running.
If this corrects the problem with your device intermittently restarting you will then know you have had applications there were corrupted on your device. Once you are convinced there are no issues with the hardware of your device you then are free to begin downloading software apps that were earlier on the device.

I have a Photosmart C6180. "Improper Shutdown" comes up and then the printer shuts itself off
An "Improper Shutdown" message started appearing. Right after this happens the printer shuts itself off, and then starts up again. The message reappears, and the same cycle happens again. This continues without stopping. Pushing any button except the on/off switch makes the same thing happen. Pushing the on/off switch right at the moment that the printer starts up, causes the printer to shut off, but as soon as I start it up again, the same message reappears and the cycle starts again.

I have an Iphone 4 that will randomly shut itself off and then not come back on unless I preform a hard reset. Also, it sometimes freezes up and needs to be reset in order for the device to begin working properly. I have tried to back up and restore using itunes on my computer but I still have the issue. Try to set it up as new device, this time without using the latest backup. If this does not work, contact Apple to get it checked.
