Battery overheating hp pavilion dv2713tu

hi,my hp pavilion dv2713tu battery is overheating and lasts for very short time.....just one and  half years had elapsed. is there any fault with the  notebook ........i think i lost harddisc because of this only.........even hp service centere mumbai, dadar has charged me 7500rs for harddisc replacement.......is there any solutions for battery.......am loosing faith in brand hp now.......help me

get a new battery. You are potentially causing damage to the laptop by continuing to use it. The heat comes from excessive resistance to the flow of electricity i.e. a bad battery. 1.5 years is not a good life for a battery but not out of the normal range.

My dad and I both bought Revolutions and have had the same issues with our phones (listed below). We truly believe that the LG Revolution is a defective phone - what are the odds that we would both get "lemons"? While at the Verizon store on 3/13, the store, corporate customer service, and LG claimed to not be able to do anything for us except send us refurbished phones or return our phones to LG and have them worked on (HA. Seriously? Go without a phone? We don't have a land line anymore - might as well dump us on a deserted island). We were notified today, 3/15 that the phones were in the store ready to pick up, but they didn't come with new batteries! SERIOUSLY?!?! THE MAJOR ISSUE WITH BOTH IS THE BATTERY OVERHEATING! These phones are bound to either burn us or kill us. We don't want someone else's "fixed" phone, because it will just do the same thing! Unless Verizon will help us, I'm afraid we are going to get iPhones from another provider, as well as go to the BBB to file a formal complaint. I really don't want to, but I can't believe how much we have spent for our little death machines. We really hope Verizon will cooperate and uphold the standards they set forth in their employee handbook. We would love to be contacted by someone who can help. Please, don't give us the run-around. As anyone can see, factory resets, changing settings, etc. don't work. We have put up with those suggestions for months with no improvement.
    My Dad's Revolution:
Bought LG Revolution ~July 3, 2011 for $250 + taxes & fees, car charger, (and eventually extra chargers). Over $300 total put in.
Battery gets overheated to the point that the phone is too hot to touch. This drains the battery from any percentage of battery to 0% in a matter of minutes. FIRE HAZARD IN YOUR POCKET! My dad's chest was almost burned! If it is too hot to touch on the outside, what is it doing to the guts of the phone?!
Not receiving text messages and picture messages that are sent
Internet doesn’t work properly - only when it feels like it
    Loses data connection between 3G/4G/Wireless
Not always getting voice mail notifications
Phone burned up 2 wall chargers
    Freezing
Phone is ringing, but the “answer call” screen doesn’t come up, so there is no way to answer the call
Phone rings once and then shows a missed call. When calling the person back, they say it rang the normal number of times before going to voicemail.
    Not keeping a charge
Called sister next door and Dad could hear them, but she couldn't hear him. He called back and he could hear her fine, but she said he was very "scratchy" - keep in mind this is NEXT DOOR.
    My Revolution:
Bought LG Revolution ~July 9, 2011 for $250 + taxes & fees, (eventually, multiple) car charger(s), insurance plan, (eventually, additional wall chargers) $400+ for the total cost

Paying for “Unlimited Data” and phone constantly says “Mobile Network State: Disconnected”
Not receiving text messages and picture messages that are sent
Not being able to send text messages or picture messages
Getting the same text 3-4 times
Sending a text once and recipient getting it 3-4 times
Internet/apps don’t work due to no data
    Loses data connection between 3G/4G/Wireless
Not always getting voice mail notifications – getting voice mails 14+ days late. This creates a serious problem for time sensitive messages.
Phone burned up 4 wall chargers and 2 car chargers
    Freezing
Phone is ringing, but the “answer call” screen doesn’t come up, so there is no way to answer the call
Not keeping a charge. On a daily basis between 7:30am-12:30pm, I go from 100% to 20%. In the store on 3/13, the Verizon rep witnessed my phone go from 81% to 68% in about an hour
Phone rings once and then shows a missed call. When calling the person back, they say it rang the normal number of times before going to voicemail.
In the beginning, I would get email notifications and after I would read them, it would appear that they were “marked as read”, however, after I back out of the program, it notifies me of the same emails that I just read, only they’re once again “unread”. Now, I’m not getting ANY notifications of email except in the top drop-down screen, which if I click on it, I can see the emails, but after I back out, they disappear because the program decides not to work.
GPS is unreliable. It often says that I'm 2+ miles away from where I actually am.
The phone does what it wants to do when it wants to do it – not when you tell it to! All of our previous phones have given us reliable, clear service. What is wrong with this picture? HELP!!!

Hi I recently had the same problem with the LG Revolution. In fact it had been one of multiple replacement models that I had received in just a few weeks. The first two devices I had problems with them recycling power, I would make calls and they would make the same call multiple times i.e I would get through to the person I was intending on calling and the phone would call them on like a three way call asking me to merge the conversation I was only having with one other person... The 2nd replacement only lasted a few days. I was playing Words with Friends it gave me a sim error out of nowhere shut down. I checked the card after removing the battery and powered it back up. I was fine for about 10 minutes shut down and I was never able to turn it on again. The next phone they sent I received a few day ltr was the frosting on the cake. As soon as I tried to set it up the problems began. The phone was recycling power so much that it wouldn't fully power up before shutting down. Tech support insisted it had to be the battery, that there was no way they sent me 3 bad phones within 2 1/2 weeks... The new battery was sent over night. So I charged it up and gave it a go. It seemed fine at first, but then started acting up again. I resorted to it wasn't the battery and figured when I got to a land line  or another line I would call Tech support. I was driving the phone was in my right lower scrub pocket apparently because of whatever mechanical defect it had overheated and burned me. I have been kind of at a loss when it comes to the Customer Service Dept. I have reported the incident to them even called to find out who to send my co pay bills too, no response. However they did have the nerve to send me a text asking for the device back or they were going to charge me $500. Now I'm thinking may be if people started taking things like this to the media they would act on it...

  • Still Having Problem with Battery Overheating with Car Dock/Charger when using Maps/Navigation

I'm having a problem with the battery overheating when using Google Navigation in the OEM Samsung car dock and car charger.  On a trip last weekend, I started off with a fully charged battery (because posts on other sites have complained that the Charge cannot keep up with the power draw of the Google nav app while using the car charger).  About an hour into my trip, I got a message that the battery was overheating and to unplug the charger which I did.  I then had to contend with the screen going out because it was running on the battery.  I let the phone discharge to about 70% then tried the car charger again.  Within a few minutes, I got the same overheating message.  It was not an overly hot day and the car A/C was set at 68 degrees.
This morning (with the battery at about 85%) I tried to use the Navigation without the car dock while charging and got the same results...the phone battery overheated and I had to unplug the charger. The battery temperature reached 116 degrees. (also, the battery level was also dropping while using the Maps or Nav application even though it was hooked up to the car charger).
I'm very disappointed with this situation since I was hoping I could replace my old Garmin GPS with the Charge.  But between the phone dimming the screen while running on battery, and having a depleted battery in the phone at the end of the trip, its just not a viable option.  I really like this phone, but I'm running against the "return" clock.
    Any ideas?
Could this be a software problem that will be corrected by an update in the future?
fyi:  other Charge problems in the last 5 days:
    - dropping audio on calls to other Verizon phones.
    - use of camera flash causing the phone to reboot.
(I do have the 'class 4' 32gb card in my Charge)
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

    Jerry:
Yes, the phone is charging while in the car dock.  I confirmed it both under the "about phone-status-battery status" menu and by my battery widget.  By watching the battery widget, I also noticed that the voltage steadily increased over the ride home.  It started at about 3.90 volts and ended at 4.02 volts.  I don't know if that is significant.  This time the battery did not overheat.  The Max temp was 110 degrees, but no notice to disconnect came up.  This might be because the sun was behind me on the drive home rather than beating down on the dash like it was this weeked.
I've ordered a cheap universal dock from Amazon for about $15.00 which clips onto the a/c vent.  I want to see if this keeps the temperature down.  If this works, I can still return the fancy-schmantzy Samsung OEM car dock. (The car-dock interface wasn't that impressive anyway).
Please let me know if the volt change means anything.
And thanks again for your help!

  • Battery overheating

    Hi everybody!
I don't know if it happen to somebody else, but since a couple of days by battery started to be the reason of my MBP overheating... well, until a week ago my laptop was always between 49 and 54 degrees, but since a couple of days it goes straight to 75 degrees just after i turn it on.
Of course my battery is not eligible for replacement...
does anybody know a good reason or a solution?
    thank you very much!!

The only plan I can find is this. http://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/macbookpro.html
What plan are you talking about?
You have a one year warranty on your computer even if it is refurbished . The computer is two months old. The battery is also under the one year warranty. If your computers battery is acting up after 2 months you should talk to Apple and get their help. Your other choice would be to replace your battery yourself.

  • IPhone 5 battery overheating

I heard that iPhone 5's battery is overheating is this normal because of the aluminium back or its a defective one?

After backing up your phone, Settings->General->Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set up as a new phone.
DO NOT RESTORE from backup as you may be bringing the problem that was causing the overheating back on your phone.
Slowly add your most favorite apps from the App Store, waiting a day or so to make sure your problem isn't caused by a bad app.
If this doesn't work, take your phone to the Genius' for a new battery/phone.
BEWARE.  When you backup your phone, it isn't that easy to get to some of your important data like documents in your favorite programs or photos if you are not using photo stream so pull those out of iTunes.

  • Short battery, overheating

Hi i have the 13 inch mac book pro. I have had it for one year and just recently the battery life significantly reduced to 2 hours while just using microsoft word. just 2 days before i would be on it for 5 or 6 hours. also its seems to be overheating even though I'm just using word. I don't understand what could have caused this

Sounds like the battery is failing and I would err on the side of caution and remove it.  Overheating is a definite sign there is something going wrong with a battery.  And there is a possibility it could expand making it difficult to remove and cause other damage.
You might also want to post over in the Macbook Pro forums to see if anyone has similar problems or suggestions.

  • Battery overheating. Powering down for phone safety.

Does this message mean I need a new battery or is there anything I can do to fix the problem myself?  Phone and battery are only a few months old.  Where can I find out if it is still under warranty?

  • Battery Issue - HP Pavilion dv6 - White Light Flashes 3 times; Won't power on without cord

    Hello,
I am having the following issue:
    - Computer fell off bed (2ft high).
    - Press power button (without the power cord plugged in), computer does not turn on and the LED light next to the battery port flashes white 3 times
    - Press power button (with the power cord plugged in), computer turns on. For 30 seconds to 1 minutes, the battery icon says 0% charged. After approximately 1 minute, the battery icon says "Fully charged 100%". When I unplug the power cord, my laptop scrren goes black and shuts down (but it takes a few seconds before you hear the fan and internal parts stop)
    this may be unnecessary information:
    - I replaced the battery a couple of months ago
    - my laptop will turn on if I remove the battery, plug in the laptop and power it on
I've tried a hard reset already but nothing changed - issue persists.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    - Logan

    Hi Jeorgie,
I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-3100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows 7.
As you suggested, I went through the troubleshooting steps in the following document:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00821536/
When I ran the battery test on the Battery Test page, I got the following message:
Although, the message tells me to replace the battery, I'm not sure that a replacement will correct the problem.
As I type this message on my laptop, I have left the power cord unplugged the entire time, but the battery icon says 0% and my computer hasn't shut down; the white LED next to the charging port has been flashing continuously (with a frequency just under 1 second):
It's as if there is an internal component in the laptop that cannot recognize that the battery is present and charged.
I also checked the latches on the battery and laptop chassis to make sure there is nothing broken there. Everything seems to be in normal condition.
What do you suggest as the next course of action? Perhaps there is an internal compnenet that I can run a test on before I go out and purchase a new battery?
    Thank you,
    Logan

  • What CMOS battery does the Pavilion a6500f use?

I have an HP Pavilion a6500f that recently starting shutting down or freezing.  I think I have that problem fixed but every time it's started now I have to reset the date from 01-01-2002 and reset the time.  Since I have no desire to take the computer apart twice can anyone tell me what CMOS battery this uses?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
It's a CR2032 battery which you can buy at any where including many supermarkets. You can find it near the right corner on the following image (round):

  • Macbook Pro battery/overheating issue

Hello all, I am having issues with my older macbook pro. I recently replaced the battery as per the computer's recommendation.  Now the fan is kicking on very loud and the computer will shut off. I have read that these symptoms can be due to overheating. When I replace the battery with the old one the symptoms seem to subside. Is the battery bad or something else wrong potentially? I cannot find anything online really to help me correct the issue.

If you had an Apple store replace the battery you have a 90 day warranty on the battery and the labor to change the battery. So if you did have it done at an Apple store take it back and have them check it out.
If you bought and replaced the battery yourself then most likely the battery is defective and I would not put it back in that Mac.

  • What is the longest lasting battery for my Pavilion dv6-6c35dx

I need to buy a new battery but I don't want to buy one with a short cycle life. Which is best?

    Hi,
Probably you need a 12 cell battery, it should last twice longer than normal battery, something like this:

  • MacBook Pro Battery overheating and expanding

I purchased a MacBook Pro three years ago and have not had any problems with it. However, during the last month the battery has been getting very hot. And within the last week or two, the battery cover has been expanding and coming loose. I'm guessing that the battery needs to be replaced. But at the moment I don't have the funds to purchase a new one. Can I still run the laptop with the AC power connected and the battery out of the computer? Or will this hurt the laptop?

It's perfectly safe for your hardware to run without the battery. You should be aware however that should there be even the briefest interruption of power, you will lose anything you might be working on if you have not saved it.
Your MacBook will also run at nearly half its normal speed if you use it with the battery removed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2332
Regardless of the two issues raised above, you should not continue to use your machine with that battery installed. It is possible for the expanding battery to create enough upwards pressure to damage the logic board or to cause trackpad/keyboard problems.
