Battery pack mystery

Hi, Please help professionally
I am concerned about these product, are they safe or not
I have a 30 gb Ipod Video and I was thinking about getting some extra battery power for longer trips.
I looked at these products:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rechargeable-Battery-Pack-for-iPod-Mini-Nano-iPod-Photo_W0QQ itemZ5835512645QQcategoryZ118261QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and these
http://cgi.ebay.com/iPod-Belkin-Back-Up-Battery-Pack-model-F8E464_W0QQitemZ58328 49861QQcategoryZ118261QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
However, isn't the official ipod Battery output 3.7 volts?
So if one were to put 4 Alkalines of 1.5 v each that would total 6 volts, I want to know is this is a problem for the ipod? Or do these product trans down the voltage a little to have an output of 3.7 volts...
I wonder about this and if other people have used them before
Your feedback would be appreciated
Thankyou

Ruff,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The add-on battery packs likely are safe.
Here is a comprehensive review article on one of them.
Hope this helps.

  • Is it possible to install the T60p BIOS update without a battery pack?

    Hello,
I was running some maintenance on my gfs Thinkpad T60p, model 2007EC1, and the BIOS update failed since she does not have a battery pack. The battery pack is unavailable as it was left behind when she came here for the summer. Is it possible to install the BIOS update with out? Is there a work around?
    Thanks for your time.

There used to be some jumper hacks on the web for the older Thinkpad models.  Try a Google search and see if you find anything.

  • Can I use an external battery pack on my 17" Mac Book Pro?

    Hi
This may sound like a crazy question, but is it possible to safely use an external battery pack on my Mac Book Pro?.....specifically a Bescor Video Light battery pack which I can just plug my a/c power cable into. This would be very useful in the case of a local power failure (which actually may just happen tonight, as we are currently in the middle of a blizzard).
    Just wondering......
    Thanks,
    Anneita

Yes, you can use external battery packs — but I wouldn't use one that I wasn't perfectly certain was very carefully controlled.
External battery packs specifically designed for MBPs:

    http://www.hypershop.com/HyperMac-External-MacBook-Battery-and-Car-Charger-s/91. htm

Another option, designed to protect sensitive equipment from power surges and enable uninterrupted computer usage during AC power outages and irregularities, is called an +uninterruptible power supply,+ and the leading manufacturer of such devices — which incorporate storage batteries of various capacities — is APC:

  • Change the battery pack

I have seen many people with this issue - I have a powershot ELPH 530HS and it has been working with no issues. Recently it started giving an error stating that i should "change the battery pack". This is a fairly new camera and i doubt the battery is faulty. Anyone seen this issue? How did you fix it?

You may need to let the rechargeable battery pack go completely dead before recharging. Some of the batteries get a "memory" if they get charged too often when they are not completely depleted of energy, and then won't fully charge. Use the battery pack until the camera just won't operate anymore, then try a recharge. There is a remote possibility that the battery contacts in the charger are not making proper contact, so just make sure the contacts on the battery pack and the charger are clean before plugging everything in.

  • What is a good external battery pack for a 13" retina display?

what is a good external battery pack  for my 13" retina display(macbook)

Have a look here for the sizes and prices.
It is however, much better to get a USB external drive that comes with it's own power adapter to avoid issues when or if your USB port can't supply enough power to your external drive.
That issue however does happen rarely but it does happen.  Especially when connecting other devices to your other USB port while your external hard drive is connected to your other usb port.

  • What's the best external battery pack to bring when traveling abroad?

We're planning on going to Europe for our honeymoon and figured we'll probably need our phones to get around, translate things, etc and would hate to be in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone. Which external battery packs would you recommend? I'm open to getting more than one....one that's small and light and bring with me, and another to keep at the hotel.
    Thank you!

My favorite (and I have 3) is MyCharge: http://www.amazon.com/myCharge-Peak-6000-Rechargeable-Power/dp/B008PQAFTM/ref=sr _1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1410566545&sr=1-1&keywords=mycharge.
The reason is that it is the only one that has a built in charger to recharge the MyCharge itself. Simply flip out the prongs and plug it in to any US outlet or any foreign outlet with a plug adapter. No separate power supply to carry around (and potentially lose). It also has built in plugs to charger other USB devices. You will need a Dock to Lightning adapter from Apple for the iPhone 5 and later, but it works fine with that also.

If it has a Made for iPhone logo, similar to this, it is okay.

  • Which battery packs are compatible to the one in Satellite A50-110?

    Dear all,
I have a Satellita SA50-110 and realise that I need to urgently replace the battery pack, and of course I would like to upgrade, if I already have to invest, from 4400mAh to maybe 6600 or even 8800mAh. However, when I browse the various online shops, I can not find any offers for my Laptop model SA50-110, which appears to be somewhat exotic for some reason unknown to me. Instead, I find lots of offers for other models, like for the SA50-100 or -105.
If I search for the battery specification (PA3356U-2BRS), I have similar problems finding a proper replacement.
Can somebody help me here? Can I buy e.g. the battery pack for a 100, will that fit to the 110? The thumbnails I found look quite promising, but of course I can't rely on that impression.
Can I find somewhere out there a listing on which battery packs are compatible to PA3356U-2BRS?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can point me to an appropriate link.
    Cheers,
    fipps123

    Hello
You don't have exotic notebook but the model description is not SA50 but Satellite A50. To find info about compatible options is very easy and you can get it in one minute only.
Please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Peripherals & Services > Options & Accessories > Options and Accessories Home Page. There you can select your notebook model Satellite A50-110 and see all power options with full list of all compatible batteries.
    Good luck!

  • Is it safe to always keep the PC plugged in after removing the battery pack?

As I'm not going to move my pc for some time, I have removed the battery pack and use the AC power instead.
But I would like to know whether its safe to keep it plugged into the AC 24/7? and does it consume energy or does it damage anything when the pc is switched off?

its okay, i use to do it all the time with other thinkpads when my battery died on me. It won't damage your laptop.

  • Any portable battery packs that work with the iPhone?

I'll be doing a lot of "line waiting" next week and would like to use the iPhone for entertainment (internet/movie watching). I believe they're rated to last about 6-7 hours but I haven't been getting that much from mine (I'd also want something as a backup in case my battery dies on me and I'm not by a charger (or have the time to let it charge)).
I've seen portable battery packs for the ipod (that plug into the dock connector) but do any work with the iPhone?

I haven't tried one, but I think it's extremely likely that it would work. All the reports are that every iPod charging accessory - wall adapters, car adapters - works with iPhone.
