Battery Problems after Itunes 7.0 andd ipod update 1.2

Hi folks I too am having problems with the new updates for Itunes and Ipod updates... I have a 30 gig video Ipod...Did the update, and everything went fine as far as updating the ipod and itunes....Except now I only get barely 7 hours of audio playback on my ipod... Has anyone else noticed this problem... And if so is there a way to revert back to the previous Ipod update version for the time being..... I dont use videos on my ipod just audio podcasts... But I need the battery time to be back to what it was before the newest update... As I work 10 hours a day... Thanks for your help......

You can go back to your past settings. Just connect your Ipod to Itunes and click on your ipod. The first tab to the left gives you the option.

  • Apps don't work after itunes sync and or ipod update!

Today when I clicked on my apps they'd open for a split second and then close down. I did some searching on this forum and as a result deleted all my apps and re-installed them again (time consuming and frustrating as all my game data is gone!) and now they work.
I assume this has to do with me either syncing my ipod with itunes for the 1st time yesterday or downloading an apple update for my ipod touch.
Does anyone know if this is a regular problem (i.e is this going to happen everytime I sync my ipod or update it?) and is there any fix other than me deleting and re-installing my apps?
    Thanks!

According to some of the AppleCare advisors that I've spoken with, a reset as you've mentioned can result in data loss.
And according to this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430 :
"Important: Only reset your iPhone or iPod touch if it is no longer responding."

I have a 4th gen iPod touch that won't power up! I tried all the traditional stuff. I want to know how to tell if the battery is good. itunes see's the ipod in recovery mode. Tried dfu mode and did not work. Any ideas? I can hear the PC beep when plugging it in! I suspect a bad battery and trying to charge it ina wall charger made it hot!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free.

    Hi sarahdavis0_o,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If neither your iPod or iPhone are being recognized by iTunes when connected, I would recommend the steps in the following article.

after itunes finishes restoring my ipod touch 8gb, itunes still says itunes has detected an ipod touch recovery mode. You must restore it before using it with itunes. and i dont know what to do

Are you sure it is 1043? I've never seen that error before. But you can try disabling your security software, connecting the phone to a USB port directly on the computer (not a hub), and trying to restore again.

I also forgot to mention that when it did have power, it wouldn't let me shut it off to try and conserve the battery life. Right when it powered down it would power right back up.

  • After Installing iTunes 7.0.2 iPod Updater No Longer Works

So I installed iTunes 7.0.2 which seems to be running fine (although my Shuffle playlist seems to have disappeared!), but if I try launching the iPod Updater 2006-01-10 I get a message saying "iPod Universal Updater has encountered a problem and needs to close" everytime I launch it. No idea why I'm getting this..any suggestions?

The iPod Updaters are not required (and will not work) after updating to iTunes 7. If everything else is working normally on your computer, then all you need to update and sync content to any iPod is iTunes 7 and a network connection. So yes, you can remove all the older updaters.

  • Problems after iTunes 9 installation

I have got several problems after the iTunes 9 upgrade:
    - all browser I use (IE8, Firefox, Safari) crash once I try to see any of the tutorials on www.apple.com, IE8 says "An error occured inside a plug-in contained in this page.", Firefox restarts, Safari just crashes
    - once I connect my iPod touch to iTunes 9, it offers me upgrade to 3.1.1 OS, after extracting, it quits with information "The iPod could not be updated. An uknown error occured (3001)".
    - my Apple TV doesn't show up in iTunes 9 (other devices connected to intranet are visible, iPod connects with Apple TV without any problem via the Remote programm)
    Does anyone has similar experience?
    Thank you in advance

The problem where Genius says, "Genius results can't be updated right now. The required file cannot be found." is related to BranchCache.
    Disable BranchCache and try again.
You can find a bit more on BranchCache here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637820%28WS.10%29.aspx
You can disable it from an administrative command prompt with "netsh branchcache set service mode=DISABLED."
    Best of luck

  • IPod Updater Code problem? iTunes not connecting with iPod.

There may be a problem with the iPod updater.
    I have a 15 GB iPod (JQ418QZLQQF)
Updated iTunes to 5.0.1.4. Connected iPod.
Got a window...told me to downloaded iPod Updater 9/23/05. Did it.
Updated iPod. iTunes would start writing and then quit. Got a window; told me to restore iPod.
Tried restore 7 times. Failed. When iTunes tried to load it stalled, then McAfee Antivirus program hung up, then got messages that it could no longer communicate with iPod ... got (-36) errors.
Got FAQ sheets. Did everything. Unplugged from internet, disabled antivirus program. No luck.
Unloaded every non-related program in RAM. No luck.
Tried iTunes and iPod in SAFE mode. No luck.
Last error message was "Attempting to copy to the disk "IPOD" failed. An unknown error occurred (-53)"
Bought 5th generation 20 GB iPod Color. Plugged it in.
Reformatted it with the 9/23/05 ipod updater. ... iTunes could not connect to it.
Tried the 9/6/05 updater. Still didn't work.
Opened the CD that it came with and installed the 6/5/05 ipod updater software. iTunes immediately recognized the new ipod and loaded songs without failure.

I ran into this on a client system yesterday. Same issue re: new songs with a dock ipod running ver 2.2.
I tried to update on three separate g4 based macs, each running 10.3.9. On one, the ipod failed to mount. On the other two, the updater gave the message {approx} "the firmware for the update is not present" when the Update button was clicked.
For no good reason, I tried using the "Update" in the Options menu instead of the button. I immediately got an administer confirmation box, gave the password, and the update proceded correctly. Monkey behavior triumphs. Got to be an installer bug. Try it and let us know if this works for you.

  • Iphone4 battery problem after ios6 upgrade

drastic reduction of battery life after upgrade to ios6 . Help

This seems to be a major problem for all IPhone 4 users, apple will definitely repair this in the next update. For know you can:
Adjust brightness: Dimming the screen is another way to extend battery life. Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and drag the slider to the left to lower the default screen brightness. In addition, turning on Auto-Brightness allows the screen to adjust its brightness based on current lighting conditions. Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper and set Auto-Brightness to On.
Turn off push mail: If you have a push mail account such as Yahoo! or Microsoft Exchange, turn off push when you don't need it. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off. Messages sent to your push e-mail accounts will now be received on your phone based on the global Fetch setting rather than as they arrive.
Fetch new data less frequently: Applications such as Mail can be set to fetch data wirelessly at specific intervals. The more frequently e-mail or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch new data manually, from the Home screen choose Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services.
Turn off push notifications: Some applications from the App Store use the Apple Push Notification service to alert you of new data. Applications that extensively rely on push notifications (such as instant messaging applications) may impact battery life. To disable push notifications, go to Settings > Notifications and disable notifications for select applications. Note that this does not prevent new data from being received when the application is opened. Also, the Notifications setting will not be visible if you do not have any applications installed that support push notifications.
Minimize use of location services: Applications that actively use location services such as Maps may reduce battery life. To disable location services, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services or use location services only when needed.
I hope my answer was usefull, if so do not forget to click (this helped me) or (this solved my question), thank you!

  • 3GS - Serious battery problems after 4.1! Help!

Same problem after upgrading my 3gs 32gb to version 4 up to 4.1 Tried everything i could find in forums. The solution that worked for my case was rather simple. I've turned off 3g (edge is ok for email), wi-fi, notifications, deleted and recreated my exchange account, deleted more than 100 applications i had previously installed, but left only very basic apps i need to work. One of the most important things i did was to get skype completely removed and have replaced it by Nimbuzz, a similar voip app that allows us to place calls through skype without draining battery like crazy; it behaves perfectly well while in background. My battery is now lasting 24 hours with moderate email usage. Another thing i believe is really important is to turn off the receive images feature in email settings and also to restrict showing up to 50 messages received within the last three days. By the way, push is on for the exchange account. A final comment: i'm really an Apple fan, but i feel really disapointed for trusting a company that behaves as if users have no importance at all. I've got an impression that Apple don't really care about our battery draining issues. No wonder why so many people are looking forward to jailbreak their phones now.

I to am having the same problem. It even seems like it takes longer to charge due to the raid drain. I even went an got a cell phone case that has a built in extra battery to make it last threw the day, but it drains so fast that it wont even charge the Iphone. my 3g was fine on 4.0 tell this upgrade, I might downgrade but having a taste of how fast my Iphone used to be is keeping from downgrading.... Apple really needs to step up there game or there going to end up losing allot of customers!!

  • Anyone NOT having problems with ITunes 8 and latest firmware update???

I have really been put off updating to ITunes 8. The firmware update appears to be doing well. Is there anyone that uses a MacBook like myself who have had absolutely NO problems with new Itunes and firmware update? Answers on the back of a £50 note....

Not having issues now that I have updated all i(hardware) firmware to version 2.1, two phones and an iPod Touch, all work fine (So Far) (knocking on wood). As far as iTunes goes I have mixed feelings. It's a bit faster and more stable, however they removed the "Burn CD" ability from the software. That blows a bit as I would make CD's from some of my play lists to play in the car. Yes I can dock my devices in the car, but as a matter of convenience it's easier to fire up the CD when your in a rush.

  • Downloaded new iTunes/iPod updater, iTunes now crashes during iPod updating

I downloaded the new iTunes and iPod updater yesterday-- now when I plug my iPod into the USB, it recognizes my iPod, the "Updating iPod. Do not disconnect." message comes up, but as soon as "Updating Track 1 of 9." appears, I get a Send Error Report message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. etc" (I wasn't sure what, if anything, I shoudl include here from the Error Report Contents.) Has anyone else encountered this or have any tips? I've tried the uninstall/reinstall trick to no avail.
    Thanks!

I fixed this for my Nano by using the iPod Updater Restore to revert the firmware to version 1.0 and removing iTunes 6.0.2 through Control Panel. I didn't delete the leftover directories. I then reinstalled iTunes version 6.0.1.3.
The Nano is now happily recopying all my music. Should be done by midnight.
    Good luck.

  • Battery worse After mountain lion 10.8.1 update?

    Anybody else?
Indicated battery life worse w 10.8.1
    m-2011 i7 256G 11" MBA here, new last Christmas.
Had two different fully-charged values for same conditions prior to update, 2:31 and 2:10 ( both corresponding to ca. 97% and Service Battery status. )
After update, 2:03! (I've not bothered with any of that fresh install or SMC reset b.s.; if Apple doesn't tell me, in this situation, to do X or Y, I'm not going to experiment.)
I was one of the folks who, after complaining in an Apple forum, Apple called-up and loaded diagnostic software on their device, and then called up a 2nd time for more data.
I sent a note and screen-shots, of the current retrograde situation, to my contactat Apple.
Let's hope that 10.8.2 will be the charm.
Btw, shouldn't power nap have downloaded all this software and then notified me?  It didn't.  Also didn't put up a note in notification center flagging me that updates were available.

Sorry for the late in responding.
In fact, just today, I sent a note to my contact at Apple informing him that 10.8.2 had not solved my battery problem.
Even after two discharge, charge, cycles, full charge is indicated at 97%, with 1h:04m time available (new 9 mos ago was on the order of 5h.)
In addition, I now have a persistent "service battery" warning flag.
When I hear more from apple, or if I replace the battery, I will report back here.
