BATTERY PROBLEMS?(focused on muvo2 fm but applies to a

Hi i purchased a muvo2 fm around christmas time. its really cool and i love it but theres only one problem. the battery. i got told to give it a 24hour charge for the first time to 'break in' the battery. and that worked well i got about 9 hours out of the battery but i had the sound up loud so i couldve probly got or 2 hours out of it. so neway im charging the muvo2 for around 2 hours and im averaging probly 3 or 4 hours max from the battery and this sucks cos im charging it every day!!.
if any has any ideas or has the same problem with a solution any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.s.-urgent reply please!!

Unless you're driving MASSIVE headphones, I doubt that headphone volume has much effect on battery usage (and you'll be limited to how much you can dri've large or high impedance headphones anyway, without an extra amplifier).
The issue really is using the disk dri've, and perhaps using some of the EAX functions (the Smart Volume Management function has a dramatic effect on some players).
Creative benchmark the battery using a quite reasonable setup of 4 minute 28 kbit/s playing continuously. Others have benchmarked other players and they pretty much match Creative's test results. So there's nothing wrong per se with Creative's figures. Again though it HUGELY depends on how you use the player.
Connecting the player to the adapter for 2 hours won't help, but won't hurt the player. The player will fully charge in 4 hours from the wall adapter, and then the charging circuit will switch off. So only 4 of that 2 hours will it be charging, maximum.
For tips on battery charging see the relevant section of my Nomad Primer.
Ultimately if you are worried about the battery life: fully charge the player, queue up some 28 kbit/s MP3 files, turn off?EAX,?and leave it playing without touching the player. See how long it lasts.

Hi I went to an Apple store in sydney regarding a battery problem on my Iphone . All the think its the phone settings but my question is what the point of giving the facilities in phone if we are not suppose to use those?

    Your question/request is incomprehensible.
    This much can be understood:
You have an iPhone (model unknown)
You have some sort of battery issue (exact kind unknown)
You went to the Apple Store in Sydney (presumably, Australia)
You did not achieve satisfaction on said visit.
So, throw a shrimp on the barbie while you explain yourself, mate!

  • Battery Problem (Charging but returns back to zero percent then back to normal)

I'm kinda frustrated about my macbook pro, I seriously want this to get fixed.  My MBP  is 2  1/2 years  Last week  My mbp shut downed by itself then I figured out that the problem was the battery so I replaced it then bought a new one. I bought a replacement battery not in the apple store but I bought it online(somewhere cheap).
so now the big problem was after installing the new battery my mbp is charging but it returns back to zero percent then back to normal, so I can't pull out the charger from my computer because it will shut down.
    please help me.

Most likely is battery problem. Make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

  • Battery problems-new battery, but does not work

Help! I have purchased a battery a few months ago. It worked fine for a little while, and then one day, it would not power from the battery. Here is the strange thing-when I plug it in, it regesters the battery as fully charged. I even let my iBook sit for a few days without using it. I plugged it in and it registered my battery as about 95 percent charged, but stilll would not power up. I don't get it! The battery seems good, but it does not power from it. It obviously charges it, but does not power from it. Ahhh! Please help!

Will resetting the PMU erase my hard drive or cause damage to my RAM?
    No
What does it mean when it says Warning: Any RAM disk will be erased. ?
This is an outdated warning since OS X doesn't support RAM disk. A RAM disk is a technique of using some RAM as a pseudo-disk drive.

  • Another one of those battery problems...so scared

    Hey all,
I know that many people are posting battery problems and I think I have a similar one...I just don't know if apple will listen to me. My 15" mbp shuts down at around 45% charge for no reason. I applied the update that apple provided but to no avail.
    Unfortunately, here are my stats:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 3824
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 3824
    Amperage (mA): 239
    Voltage (mV): 12604
    Cycle Count: 529
It seems i have decent capacity but the cycle count indicates that the battery is old (about 13 months). So what do you guys think? Do I have a chance of getting a free replacement with the protection plan? If there is a possibility, what tactic should I use-you know- call apple, mac genius, what should I tell them. The problem has been bothering me for a while and it seems to be getting worse.
If I probably won't get the replacement, can someone recommed some good alternatives you found to the default batteries, preferably those with a greater capacity/battery life. Keep in mind, I'm a college student so any money I can save would mean a good month's worth of food that isn't crackers and ramen.
    thanks,
any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I really doubt Apple will give you a free replacement battery. Apple specifies that a battery should maintain 80% of it's original full charge capacity for 300 cycles. As you point out, you have 529 cycles on your battery - it's had a good life! But Apple will tell you (correctly) that batteries do wear out, and that's what is happening to yours.
So, you either need to live with the poor run time that comes with an elderly battery, or purchase a new one. It's just one of the extra costs of ownership, like buying gas for your car.
If you check on Google, there may be slightly less expensive 3rd party batteries out there. If you go that route, given the problems many people have had with these batteries (which Apple has acknowledged), be sure you trust the vendors warranty. Else, you may be better off just buying direct from Apple.
Wish I had better news, but I hope this at least sets your mind at ease a bit...(except for the $ part, of course...).

  • T510 First battery problems, now Win7 Install..

    Hello:
I'm new to the forum, but I've been looking for a while and can't find anything like my problem...
I bought a T510 (2 years old) seemed to be like new. It work flawlessly for 2 months then problem started...
Battery is at 93% stuck. However if I take the AC adapter out it will turn off... If I try to start it on "battery only" it won't start. Battery has only 76 cycles on it and it should be like new. The fix for battery firmware was already applied showing the new part number. (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001322). I also did the clear CMOS and the recalibration of the battery. No help at all.
(SOLVED THIS PART)!!!       "I decided to do a last step before taking it to warranty (200 days left). I erased the SSD that I have (vertex 2) with Dariks Boot software. As I try to install the windows, I come with an error in the expanding files that says "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation."
Now, I know this might have something to do with the Boot of the SSD with my method. I will update all the software on it, BUT this last time I tried installing windows I obtained an error about not having the DVD drivers installed. I read some info about it and you only get updater from lenovo, you never get the simple drivers."     (SOLVED THIS PART)!!!
Someone ever had problems installing a new windows on a fresh drive on a T510 with the "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation." error??   (SOLVED)....
    My questions...
Has someone ever had the battery problem? was it solved in other way rather than "clear cmos", "do battery recalibration", "download latest bios" or "download the lastest drivers"???
I would really appreciate the input from a technician from Lenovo, since a couple of weeks its nothing but problems this T510..

Well... nobody from support responded... how weird....
Laptop was sent back to warranty. I had to call so many times to their phone numbers in germany (15 euro-cents per minute, and just getting to the operator takes you like 5 mins) but I finally got to send it.
After a 5 day work, they changed the motherboard cause it was defective.
If the same happens to someone else, don't think it twice...
The warranty guys acted cool. But they will never answer your emails (they will tell you to call the fee phone without even reading what is inside), and you will have to pay like 2 euros for every phone call.
I hope customer service gets better... at least the guys doing the repair didn't hesitate to change the faulty mother board.

  • Battery Problems with MacBook

I've been following the various threads about battery problems with MacBooks.
I too have experienced a problem with my battery on a 2 month old MacBook.
It suddenly refused to charge. It showed a battery icon with a black X through it.
I followed various suggestions that I found through various posts and support pages - eg. resetting PMU etc., even downloading the deep sleep widget which I found difficult to get to work - but nothing solved the problem.
Yesterday I went in to the Apple Store in Birmingham and waited until I could talk with one of the tec experts (incidentally, they were very helpful even though very busy and I didn't have an appointment). The tec guy said he though that the battery was faulty. It didn't work in another MacBook they had. But another battery would work in my MacBook. So, I was given a new battery, which seems to work fine now.
However, I have read in various posts that people have had the same new battery solution which works, but then the problem reappears with the new battery over time. I will wait and see. If that is the case, then I think it will point to the problem not being with the battery, but rather with the system, PMU, OS X, motherboard or whatever. So, I think it makes sense for us to post any difficulties we have so that Apple can see that there might be a problem with the batteries in MacBooks and start working on a solution. Otherwise, it will probably cost them a lost of money providing replacement batteries !

    Hey Christopher...
I posted the same in another thread. I'm not a big fan of duplicate posts... but it seemed appropriate in this case. Take a look at the last paragraph regarding discharging lithium ion batteries. I'm not sure if it would be the electronics in the battery that tell the MacBook it's time to charge, or the MacBook's power management unit...
"Talk about a jinx! I've had my MacBook since shortly after they came out (week 9). Never had any problems. I've calibrated my battery about once a month or so. It seems after my last calibration, I got the dreaded "X" in the battery indicator. My MagSafe indicator was green. System Profiler showed that there was no battery. I reset the PMU and the SMC firmware... also tried reseating the battery (one of those things you're sure won't work... but ya just have that little bit of hope anyway). Alas, nothing would bring my battery back. Took a trip to my local Apple store. I had made an appointment online, but still had to wait over an hour (they really need to enlarge their Genius area now that they have so many more machines out there). Told the Genius what the problem was... he swapped out the battery... but the one he tried was fully charged because he took it from a machine that was plugged in. So the tension was mounting... would it charge or not (I was hoping it was just the battery and not something else). He had me use my MacBook for a bit to drain the battery. I ran Parallels and did a Windows virus scan (that should drain the battery pretty fast)... After I got the battery down to about 90%, the Genius plugged it back in. To my delight, the MagSafe indicator went orange and started to charge the battery. With that, the Genius went in the back and got me a new battery. He had me stay there for a little bit just to make sure everything was okay. I'm sort of afraid to calibrate my battery now... at least properly as in letting it completely drain. I had done a few calibrations in the past without a problem, but it seems this problem tends to occur after someone does a calibration. I'm just happy it was just the battery.
I came across this little tidbit from the Battery University webiste:
Some lithium-ion batteries fail due to excessive low discharge. If discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, the internal safety circuit opens and the battery appears dead. A charge with the original charger is no longer possible. Some battery analyzers (Cadex) feature a boost function that reactivates the protection circuit of a failed battery and enables a recharge. However, if the cell voltage has fallen below 1.5V/cell and has remained in that state for a few months, a recharge should be avoided because of safety concerns. To prevent failure, never store the battery fully discharged. Apply some charge before storage, and then charge fully before use.
I wonder if there is a fault with some of the batteries that is allowing them to discharge below this minimal level, making them impossible to recover."

  • Macbook Battery Problem

Hi all, this is my first post, but something weird happened to my macbook that I have to share with you.
Ok, my Macbook Core Duo 2.0GHz (1st generation) have had no problem during its first and half year. Then I left the notebook sitting at home for one month as I was away on business. Came back, the machine won't start, used AC adaptor and showed the battery not charging, "x" and everything. My warranty expired, so I bought a new battery. Once I got that, it worked fine for almost 7 months.
Another business trip left my macbook for 1 month, I came back, the battery is dead again!!! So I went to apple support and bought another new battery. This time I installed it at home, and it doesn't charge what-so-ever. I tried everything from SMU reset, PMU reset, P-RAM reset. NOTHING WORKED.
So I took a friend's macbook battery to try, and it worked! I can charge that battery with my macbook, and my battery won't charge on his macbook. So scientifically I thought its the battery defect. I went to Apple Care and they say they will replace it for me, but think that it should be my macbook's problem. Must be the Logic Board, I explained why I disagree, and that the battery came with only one LED blinking when I got home to charge, the current was already too low to charge.
Anyways, I was able to buy a second-hand battery really cheap but with limited life-span and use it until my replacement battery returns. Everything seem fine and I can charge it up to 100% although it will only last me 50-mins, still not bad, right?
I was reluctant to completely drain this battery now since I am afraid it will drop to zero and won't recharge like the other ones.
I am using Boot Camp, and Vista as well as OS X. Suddenly today, two days after I bought the 2nd hand battery, I was using Vista to show my friend the battery problem is fixed. But suddenly out of nowhere the battery dropped from 95% charged to 0% in seconds. It shuts down automatically, and the battery was flashing one LED indicating it's dying.
I started back in Mac OS X and found the charger able to recharge, but it fixed at 0% for 20 minutes. I thought I am screwed and went out for a smoke. I came back to see the battery charging back to 5% and then slowly to 10%, and 20%, suddenly it went back to 85% in seconds, and then 100%. I try to unplug it and it seemed fine. I left it on without the adapter for 20 minutes, the battery drain normally, to 70% (it's fine considering the battery was 2nd hand) My friend thought I should try to switch back to Vista to see if the same thing will occur. So I did, and before the Vista screen came up, the macbook blacked out. I checked the battery indicator and it's flashing one LED again!!!
So I switched back to Mac side and re-do the charging, this time it took longer to get back to +90%, I thought this is normal, 'cause I did use the battery longer on the Mac side before switching to Vista for the test.
I thought to myself, why Vista drained my battery, and then I remember the first battery that died on me was about the time I switched the PC side to Vista. Prior to that, the PC side was using XP. The second time it died it was in Vista as well. I also remember I wanted to reduce the size of my PC partition, so I trimmed off unnecessary features like hibernation by (Powercfg -h off). It saved 2G in size but it may be causing some problem to the charging circuit for the Mac-hardware??? Don't know for sure.
So I erased my Vista partition, and re-installed XP. Since then I tried both sides without adaptor, usually for 10-minutes or less, and no sudden dropped to 0% occurred since.
Everything else is working fine with my macbook, except the power features. Right now at least I can charge the battery, but I am always worried about when or IF the battery will dropped off and kill itself.
I am waiting for the replacement battery to return from APPLE, and hopefully when it returns, my Macbook will be able to recognize the DEFAULT low-charge of a new battery. I'm still not sure if my macbook is defective, and if it did killed the first battery replacement they gave me a few days ago. If it did kill a decent battery, will it kill this new replacement as well??
I know for a fact that the reason why the machine won't charge the battery is because the current of the battery has become too low for the machine to be able to charge it. If the current becomes lower, the "X" will occur suggesting that the machine doesn't even recognize it's a battery. But what I want to know is what caused the battery to drop to such a low current if I turned off the macbook during storage.
Sorry for the length of this post, but I have to be clear on all the details if I want help, I suppose. Right now my question is (1) Why is this occuring?? (2) Am I right in assuming that by removing Vista with XP, the problem will not repeat?? (3) Is it likely for any new or 2nd hand functioning battery to drop to the state of the other battery any time soon?? (4) Am I doing proper care for my Macbook, and what should I do in the future to avoid the same problem from occuring??

    gpotts,
Thanks again, here's my battery profile: (keep in mind this is the 2nd hand battery I am profiling) BTW, something happened when I was doing this message, I left the notebook on for about 20 minutes, it dropped from +90% to 48%, macbook prompted me that the battery is running low. I plugged the adaptor and it went back to +95% within minutes...
Good thing is, I haven't seen the sudden drop to 0% ever since I removed Vista, and also I am able to charge my battery everytime I try now, no more "NOT CHARGING" or "X" indication.
    Any clues??? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please check whether the AP Invoice and the Credit Memo is appearing in the Business Partner Internal Reconciliation window.
Check the Note :     1258628 and check whether the detect query returns any result for the same.
Please make sure that you perform the following in the COPY of the database in TEST ENVIORMENT :
If you have the COPY of the database available, you can test by reconciling the documents in the Internal Reconciliation window and then run the detect query in the Note 1258628 and see whether now the documents appear or not.

  • MiFi 4510L Battery problem

Ours MiFi 5410L has battery problems (draining when plugged in). I've called verizon, but they try to get my to buy yet another *** device. I have to use this one because it has a plug for an external antenna, which I have to have in order to even get service here.
With mine, I have to charge the battery in another device, then transfer the fully charged battery to the crapola device and that's the only way I can get it to work. It won't charge while it's plugged in and I had to laugh when someone said to take the battery out altogether and just leave it "plugged in". That does NOTHING. You can't run this *** without the battery in it. The charger is fine, it works on my other mifi cards (we have 3 ) and the battery is brand new, fresh out of the package less than a week ago. It's our 5th battery, btw.
Plain and simple- the device is TRASH. Buy something else through amazon so you aren't stuck in a dang contract.

If you charge a battery too much, over time it will cause it to swell and that will not allow the battery to hold charge like it normally does and it will eventually destroy the battery. What I would recommend doing is Charging the MiFi fully, and then when it gets really or low actually let it die completely, plug it back up and put it on a full re-charge. That would be the best option to get the longest life out of your battery.
    hope this answers your question!
