Battery quitting early on HP G62-110 series notebook?

Hi everyone,
I'm at my wit's end with this problem I've been having, so I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.
The gist of my story is that the battery on my notebook seems to be quitting while it's still over 40 percent charged.
During the past week or so, my HP G62-100 series notebook has started shutting off while I'm using it. It won't turn on when I press the power button unless the computer is plugged back into the AC adapter.
When it does start up again, Windows 7 gives me a message about not being shut down properly.
It seems like the computer is running out of battery charge, but if I check the charge level immediately after startup, it measures about 45 percent.
I used the HP Battery Check utility, which says my battery is in proper working order.
My battery is a MU-06 model. Please let me know if you need any other information or have any questions. A million thanks in advance!

This might provide some helpful information and troubleshooting ideas.

  • Battery quitting at 30% capacity left

Same question as many below: battery quits around 30% capacity left! Not more then 1/2h of running life with only a browser window open.
Being at 133 charging cycles and less then 2 years old [replacement battery due to recall], what should I do?

my g3 also has the same problem at around 48%. i get about 4 hours on the battery. it just goes to sleep. try recalibrating the battery by letting it sleep to fully drain the battery for at least 5 hours.

A true comparison would need the model numbers (not the series) to be specific.  Overall, the 110 series is considered the entry-level or value line while the 500 series is the mid-range line.

  • How Do I Downgrade From Windows Vista To XP On A 3000 N100 Series Notebook?

Hello. Here is the problem. I have Windows Vista Pre-loaded on my 3000 N100 Notebook, absolutely dislike this operating system and want to erase and load Windows XP. From reading other forum messages I have learned several things.
    1) The install disk On Windows XP Home & Professional will not recognize Sata Hard Drives, when it reaches the point of loading where it looks for the hard drive it "BOMBS OUT" with error messages.
    Several options are open .............
    1) Log into the BIOS, locate the SATA option, and change to compatibility mode.
    2) Have a USB external floppy connected with a Sata Driver on it and when installing Windows XP press the "F6" button when Windows asks for any external drivers you want to load.
Here is the problem with the 3000 N100 Notebook series..........
1)There is "NO SATA OPTION" in the BIOS of the 3000 N100 series notebooks to choose. In this model Lenovo stripped the BIOS down to the bare essentials.......and I Do Mean.... "BARE". The latest BIOS upgrade also has no Sata option. Why they did not offer at least this choice of downgrading to XP is beyond me. LENOVO..... I'm not impressed with your notebook.  As usual.... Microsoft has all vendors jumping to their tune..... Nothing but "VISTA" at this point in time. What if you hate it??????
    2) I have hunted all over the Lenovo Web Site for a "SATA DRIVER" that would work with a 3000 N100 Notebook, no such critter exists.  LENOVO..... Couldn't you have at least offered this????  I'M NOT IMPRESSED.
Has anyone been able to downgrade to Windows XP successfully on a 3000 N100 Series Notebook??? How Did You Do It?? Has Anyone Located A "SATA DRIVER" That Works???  IF So, Please Explain To Me Step-By-Step How I Can Get Rid of Vista and Load XP.
    Help........Help.......Help........Help......Help!!!!!!!!!!!
    Regards

Hello Himleung. Thank you for answering this message. Where did you find a "Sata Hard Drive Driver" that works?? Perhaps you could pass that along to this message forum in case someone else that has a 3000 N100 (may also work with the N200 series) Notebook wants to downgrade from Vista to Windows XP.
This is what baffles me to no end. The Lenovo web site has every driver you need to load Windows XP on the notebook.....**EXCEPT**..... the Sata HD Driver......**OR**...... the ability in BIOS to change to "compatability mode".  Duh!!!..... whats wrong with this story. I have never seen such a weak BIOS as the one in the 3000 N100. If I had known this I probably would have gone to another brand. They should have advertised this notebook as...... "Non-Geek Compatible".
Not knowing exactly how you could forward the driver to me I did the following....... I created a new Web email location that you could use to send the driver as an email attachment. The address is....... [email protected] This address will exist just long enough to obtain the driver..... and then......"Hasta-La-Vista" baby......end of story......as I do not want to be bombarded with ads, trash, or perhaps a virus of some sort..... although.....I'm SURE we have GREAT PEOPLE on this message center.
I'm not familiar with the "NLITE" program you mentioned. Again....perhaps you could mention where I can get it and what I need to do to set the program up to run the driver.
    Thanks again, Himleung.

  • G series notebook no starting up

My g series notebook turns on and blinks " press the Esc key for start up menu" I do that and get a menu of
    F1 system info.
    F2 system diagnostics
    F9 boot devise options
    F10 BIOS setup
    F11 system recovery
    enter -  continue start up
    any ideas?

    Hello rncarradini
I seen your post and was wondering if your issue has been resolved? If not could you review the questions below and I will do my best to assist you.
    1. In your first post you indicate that if you hit "Enter" it will continue with the start up? Does it load your Windows operating system?
    2. What you are describing is the UEFI menu and I would suggest updating the UEFI environment via the Driver and Download page. If you are unsure of how to do this please re-post with your product number. Your product number can be found by following the HP Support document: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?. Or, you can try following the instructions provided under the sub-heading "Install updated UEFI tools and BIOS" in the HP Support document: Install updated UEFI tools and BIOS.
I hope this helps resolve your start issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!

  • Frequent Hardware failure in HP-G Series Notebook

    Hi All
Facing Frequent Hardware failure in HP-G Series Notebook.
I took help from HP tech support as well but they could not solve the problem & I need to send the Notebook to the repair center.
I just want to know is there a problem in whole G Series PC model or something else.

I am also having hardware problems with my HP-G series notebook. I have two of them and they both have the same problem. Longing sound on startup and some of the keys on the keyboard stopped working. Any suggestions?

  • How to flash BIOS on suse bundled s series notebooks?

How to flash BIOS on suse bundled s series notebooks?

I have the above unit (I love it!!) with BIOS version 14CN51WW BIOS running UBUNTU9.04 (did not like the SUSE linux supplied. I hate the loud bleep when you remove the power adapter and also have had a few problems with LINUX hanging with the suspend mode - so I thought I might try to update the BIOS to the latest Version: 14CN67WW
However, how do you do this other than in Windows?
I tried to install Windows XP and 2000 onto a spare SATA disk that I installed into the IdeaPad - but halfway through the installation I get a stop error message saying computer is not ACPI compliant
The only other way I have is a Windows XP routine that loads XP into memory and allows a virtual disk - where I could install the BIOS files - but will this work if I flash from here - don't want to screw up the system board
Older IBM's had an executable file that ran from a DOS session and  flashed the BIOS
Anyone got any advice on how to approach this - before I actually do it

  • Wireless on Linux 110 series

    Hi,
I have issues with my wireless card with Linux Ubuntu remix netbook.
The wireless is not probing at all. I was wondering if any of you guys knew which is the manufacturer of the wireless card in this series 110 ?
    Cheers
    Riganta,

    Hi
Are you sure the Satellite 110 supports an WLan card?
I doubt that this oldie has been equipped with an internal WLan card!
I found this Satellite 110 specification sheet and the WLan card is not listed there!

  • Do I still have to calibrate my macbook pro battery? (early 2011)?

Hi, I recently got my first mac computer which is a macbook Pro. I was really excited when I got it but I also want to take really good care of it and make it last as long as I can so my question is do I still have to calibrate the battery on my mbp? because I read this article from apple stating that I don't http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490. Please inform me thank you!

That is the exact article I was going to refer you to.

  • HT3500 I have a MacBook Pro and an HP ENVY 110 SERIES All-In-One .  I can't seem to get a network set up or either one to locate or connect to the other one.

I've spent hours, actually probably days, trying to do this but it's not working. I've had the ENVY since Nov
and have not been able to print - much less do anything else with it.
My internet is CLEAR wireless. I use the little USB 4G Mobil Modem. This new HP ENVY is also wireless.
I know I can't be online and print at the same time unless I get a router.
I also know that I can go offline and change the network pref  to "airport" so I can print. Meaning I'll have to change
back and forth but for my uses,  that's ok..at least for right now.
What I can't seem to get set-up correctly is my own local network.
I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be done using "Airport".
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong in establishing my network.
The printer is listed on my printer preferences and shown as  "offline"  "default". I assume that means the ENVY
is my default printer.  Great! At least my Pro knows it's suppose to connect to the ENVY once everything's set-up correctly.
Now, if someone could just tell me exactly, step-by-step what to do to get that done....
    I'd be soooo very happy!
    Thank you!
    Ricki

Well... no help was found here.. so I abandoned the wireless- ness of my printer.  I bought a
small 10 port hub because only 2 USB ports really isn't enough with wireless mouse, wireless internet
and any kind of printer.   I also bought a long USB cable.  I now print--wired since this can be done
as an alternative to wireless with this printer.   Because I don't want a cable "hanging around"
when the printer is not in use, I simple disconnect it and reconnect when I want to print.
It's a temporary solution others may find helpful as well. Apparently there's been a lot of
confusion and problems getting this printer set up wirelessly with our MacBooks.
Shame on HP for not helping us out!
