Battery re MBP 15" bought on 26/11/2011

Hihi, I am not tech savvy and hope that someone can enlighten me
I bought my MBP 15" on 26 Nov 2011 (Singapore).  I only realised after 1 month later that the MBP
had more than 15 battery counts when I only charged for less than 5 times !
And lately, I notice as well that under Battery Capacity (with CoconutBattery) that the Design capacity is 96900 mAh but
my Current capacity is 6751 mAh after 29 battery loadcycles.
CoconutBattery shows that age of my batter is 7 months....it is only 18 May 2012..and it should only be less than 6 months
since purchase date...and I do not understand why is that so as well
Is this acceptable for a MBP?   Thank you very much in advance

After reviewing the results you got from the Warranty link, we can agree that you seem to be all set for now and the only nuisance is the battery's age. But that is covered so, should anything go awry, only irritation will be getting the part replaced. Apple says that if  real max charge drops below design max charge  (6900) before the battery has 1000 cycles, you are eligible for a new one.
Seeing that you've already discovered coconutBattery, it seems you're pretty much well on the way to wisely managing your resources. With these Macs twin GPUs, you may also want to download and install the gfxCardStatus utility ( http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus ): it displays a i or d in the menubar, indicating which GPU is in use, and you can force the use of one or the other. The AMD Radeon gives stunning fast graphics but eats batteries for breakfast. Another useful tool for keeping an eye on all of the Mac's doings is the iStat Pro dashboard widget ( http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatpro/ ).
Enjoy your Mac!

Doesn't sound like it.  It sounds like you're being logged-off.
Does your Mac go through the complete Restart cycle -- black screen, gray and/or blue screen momentarily, startup chime, etc?
If you're not sure, do a Restart just to watch the process; the next time the problem occurs, see if it's the same.
You need to know which it is, as these will have very different causes, and different places to look for a solution.

  • Battery for MBP 13" early 2011

Battery for MBP is it can be over charge when I plug-in every time?

Doesn't matter. Even when your MBP is shut down or on, the charging will stop when the battery is fully charged.
Edit: On my first post, it may be confusing as the way I wrote it, What I meant to say is that Lithium ion battery will not overcharge at all, unless the chip inside it is damaged or something.

I have the iPad 2 16GB, bought it in August 2011, I worked perfectly but in mid-August 2012 I took her to the store because the microphone did not work reviewed and changed me, but to my surprise that the new iPad had the problem is disconnected WIFI signal I have to be glued to the router, and I did everything he says is supported by the Apple and all other pages and forums regarding this problem is not solved and always disconnects when connected always disconnects again!! passing will be settled as no longer factory warranty although it has neither the three months I renewed new, please help because the investment has been great and I can not use only as "a mirror" I'm waiting a true solution, thanks ....
    Sincerely,
    Catlos

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes.  I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever.  My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems.  I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions.  So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme?  I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did.  Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems?  I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.
**Glad they didn't "moderate into extinction" your post yet, lol, Thank

Hi , I own a hp pavilion dv6 6050se laptop bought in UAE during 2011, I have lost the recovery discs.
How do i get a copy of recovery discs??

    Hi,
I don't see any link on your Product Page to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs, but it's always worth calling HP directly and see if you can order them this way.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are unable to order these discs from HP, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

I bought an imac in 2011, IOS 10.6.8.  How can I upgrade the safari 5.1 browser, as vimeo is recommending this for viewing their videos and I can't seem to see their videos full screen?   Thank you.

It is very likely you can go to Mavericks but you may as well go straight to Yosemite.   However, unless the matter is urgent I would wait a couple of months until it gets to Yosemite 10.10.2.
You realise of course that your current OS is the last one that can work with Rosetta based programs so if you have bought Office or some Language courses etc you may have to buy new versions.   This table will help you decide which apps you may lose by upgrading.

  • New battery for MBP wont fully charge

I have a new battery for my mid 2011 macbook pro 13". I installed it and since then i have had some problems.
first i installed the battery, it came with 67%, i let the MBP go all the way to the red and shut itself off, thinking this was the best way to calibrate it.
I plugged the mag safe charger in and let the computer charge
come back to it the next day and its at 0%, click on the battery icon and it says battery isnt charging (clearly is)
restart computer and it starts showing the charge, HOWEVER when i click on the battery icon it sill says not charging, but my light on charger is green, my battery icon has the charge look...
I have seen other threads where they recommend a SMC, i done one and it made my monitor go from the wallpaper  to a white screen, i let it play out for 2 minutes before restarting it and it was normal....what does that mean?
im in desperate need of some help and piece of mind i didn't just spend top $$$ on a bum battery, and FYI im 2 hours from a apple store so i try to do all my mac work myself, or with this assistance of youtube.
    Thanks

It says replace now, but I just bought the battery yesterday.

  • Swollen battery, 17" MBP

My 17" MBP has been sitting on the desk without power attached for the past 30 days while we were moving. I went to turn it on today and the battery was so swollen and expanded that it deformed the metal housing and had forced it's way out of the battery bay.
Of course, the MBP is exactly one month out of warranty. Called Apple but gave up after holding/explaining the issue over forty minutes to two different people and being put back on hold for yet another person.
    Made In China. No thanks.

    Same thing happened here:
MBP 17" 2.16 Ghz, swollen battery after little over a year of use. Talked to tech service in Caracas who were very concerned but told me that the MBP 17" is not under warranty and the battery warranty extension does not cover my battery, and that they will not accept it for repair/exchange.
Apple: these batteries pose a real health hazard. It is not that the battery stopped responding, it began deforming (badly) and that is not "normal behavior" under any circumstances.
I do not have a number for support in Venezuela and there is NO email support (I can't find it anywhere). I have no way to deal with the issue locally and there is no replacement for sale in Venezuela, so I now have a very expensive (and fragile) desktop computer, plus I have to figure out a way to get a new battery in a reasonable time frame.
I have been an Apple user/advocate since 1987, there are 2 Apple computers at home plus an airport router and was planning on buying another computer and airport exteme. Now I am looking elsewhere since there is no way to talk to the company locally and shipment costs to the USA will render any warranty useless.
I am very disgruntled since I know the battery swelling is a very well known issue, that the company should have a repair/exchange policy on these issues, and they should have some channel to communicate other than a phone number (none for Venezuela) inaccesible from outside the USA, but all I have been able to do in order to fix my problem was talking to a wall.
I hope this forum is monitored by Apple and somehow they will deal with the issue. Otherwise, I am sure that, reports of Apple branded swollen batteries will pop all over the internet.

  • New battery lowers MBP temperature??? Am I going insane?

I got my replacement MBP battery yesterday and, after installing and fully charging it, began using my machine for a long work session.
Previously, the machine ran at an average temperature of 57-59 degrees C, but now it's running at an average of 40-43 degrees C. I haven't changed my useage of the machine in any significant way or stopped using any high-intensity applications, so I'm at a total loss to explain the nearly 20 degree temperature drop.
Surely there can be no connection between the battery and the temperature of the MBP, but I have to trust the evidence of my temperature monitor software and the fact that I can now comfortably rest my hands on parts of the machine that were very warm before.
Has anyone else noticed this or have I totally lost touch with reality? I thought I'd ask here before I ran off to my therapist and asked to be committed.
On edit: I didn't mention that my battery was replaced under the recall scheme, so I'm wondering if maybe the early batteries were, in part, responsible for the machine's high temperature.

Well, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones... I have a mbp week 11, and the machine has worked all day very cool, about 55°C max (temperature monitor, CPU) doing only light stuff like internet browsing, adium and playing music. I just finished some backing up and the mean CPU temp rose to about 65°C, but it's now after 10' down to 54°C. So it's not one of the Cookbooks and for that I'm glad!
The system freezes from time to time, but ever since I made an archive and install, things are working much better.
It has the whine though, but I keep it quiet with ShhMBP. Some people say this kills battery life...I get almost 4h now with the new battery...so I'm very happy with this.
So like I said before, now that the temp is down (new battery) and the whine is gone (ShhMBP), I'm very pleased with this machine!
I just contacted the local Apple store to hear what they do with mbp's that whine and how long it takes to replace the logic board...I still haven't decide if I'm gonna take it in though...it's kinda hard to live without a computer.
