Battery Serial # for recall

hi guys
I have a 15' Powerbook G4 which requires the battery exchange. The problem is that somehow my battery serial # is not in the range that needs exchange. Numbers in Apple website starts with number 3 or 6, but mine starts with Character "H"
Does that mean my battery doesn't need to be changed?

Only batteries made by Sony during a specific manufacturing period need to be replaced. Batteries from other vendors Apple used at the time, or by Sony at a different time, are not a problem. If your serial number range isn't listed, you don't need to exchange the battery.
BTW, it would be better next time to post in the PowerBook forum. You'll be more likely to get quick and accurate answers than you will here in a forum for the new MacBook Pro.

  • Extra battery eligible for recall?

I purchased a used extra battery (very cheap)for my Macbook Pro 15" and it does not work (shows an X in the menu bar). Luckily I didn't pay much for it, but does anybody know if Apple will replace a battery given this scenario?

see if going through this process can get you a new one

technically, using your existing macbook pro's serial # should be fine, as you legitimately purchased the battery, but not through the usual means

  • Battery Serial Number Report For Laptops?

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a report of the battery serial number via ARD 3?
    Chris H.
    G5 Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

In theory it should be possible even though I have not tried it. Using system profiler you will be able to gather all sorts of data (Serial Number for computer and Battery Stats like charge capacity, power level, times charged etc... cant remember about Battery serial try it an see).
To run profiler from UNIX comand level, click on the ARD 3.0 Unix icon, type in "system_profiler" and save it as a template for future use.
    Accessing system profiles with Terminal
You can generate a system profile with Terminal using the system_profiler command line tool. To use this tool, enter the following command in Terminal: /usr/sbin/system_profiler
For more information about the system_profiler command, enter "man" and system_profiler.

  • The new battery is being recalled

I own a iBook G4, and my battery was recalled. I used the form on https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/index.html, but now my replacement battery is being recalled as well.
When I try to order a new replacement battery, but seeing as I had already used the form once, I can't use it again, even though they recognize the serial on the new battery to being a recalled one. What should I do, who should I contact?

And since you sent back the original recalled battery, you can't use that
box, either...! I just got my battery yesterday (a weird story, just in that)
and have discharged my very good but recalled battery, and have charged
the new replacement battery and haven't tested the computer much, yet.
But I have not been in a hurry to send back the recalled battery; and see
on the battery's shipping box there are options & checkboxes on the label.
If you have tried calling the Apple number for Support again
and can't get any help (if you get through, you may get help)
you could try Sales Support or Customer Relations. That is
a stretch. The information from the recall page suggests to
call; so if you have not tried calling (instead of the form) you
can try it; should work according to their recall information page.
    http://www.apple.com/support/batteryexchange/2006/faq/
You may have to call Apple Sales Support and inquire about customer
satisfaction and their recommended procedures to send in a defective
replacement battery, to get another one; or if there isn't just some way
they can let you get a battery from somewhere closer to you that would
be guaranteed, in lieu of this game they are forcing you into playing.
I'm at a distance from any place to get a battery for my iBook, and
in order to get one new I'm looking at 200+ miles travel; or an order
online and a week's delivery time. And retail prices plus shipping; or
up to 4 weeks to get a new battery if I order new from Apple online.
Being essentially unable to use these computers for up to 6 weeks
and they are intended to be portable, is without excuse and border-
lines on 'fitness of merchantability' rulings, in consumer protection.

  • Macbook Pro Battery Serial Number

Recently I have given my Macbook pro to local apple service center as it suddenly turned off & never got started, I was informed by service center that it has some problem in its logic board so I need to replace it. but my Macbook is out of warranty period.. so they have quoted me Rs:39,000 for replacing the logic board.. that is simply out of question why would i spend 39,000 on the logic board, if I can buy Ipad even with the lesser price and it seems much more easy to use for me. so I've got my macbook back without rectifying it.
However last night I observed that its battery has come out from one side and was not flush with the rest of the casing. So i popped it open using the latch and tried to see if i could close it properly.
It seems like the battery has sort of expanded on one side, to the point where it's pushing up against the access panel and not letting it close completely.
I never gave my machine to service center like that, battery was exact fine, I am quite sure that battery is not of my macbook, it has been replaced with crashed battery while it was in the service center (as my macbook was in the service center for more then one month).
So i am looking for the way to find out if this battery is for my macbook or not. the problem is I don't even have its box or receipt which could include its configuration details and since my macbook has logic board problem so I am not even able to switch it on to check..
If some one can please tell me that serial number which is given on the Macbook Battery is the same as actual Macbook serial number which i can see in Battery bay; I can see both serial no's differs.
i am not sure if batteries have its different serial numbers from the machine serial numbers? if some can tell me this so that I can go back to service center with the concern or if battery serial no is suppose to be different then please suggest me how can i go about notifying same to service center, I mean if they would deny and won't accept; either battery has been changed or damage to the battery has been caused by them; then i would have no proof to prove this.
    Please suggest??

Your battery's serial number was never the same as your MBP's serial number, and there is no way for you to tell whether another battery was substituted for yours in the shop unless you have a record of the original battery's number. Your MBP's original purchase receipt and packaging would not have included the serial numbers of components and subassemblies like the battery — only the whole computer's serial number.
Batteries sometimes swell abruptly as they approach the ends of their useful lives, and it's entirely possible that your battery did so while it was in the shop for a month. Now you will need a new battery as well as a new logic board if you want to continue using the computer. But because you aren't willing to pay the cost of a logic board replacement, the battery doesn't matter.
If an iPad would meet your needs, buy it.

  • Battery serial number records

    Hi
I suspect that when my computer battery has been swopped with a faulty one whilst in a shop that was going to sell it for me. When I took it there it worked perfectly. When I got the computer back now the battery won't charge.
I'd like to try and trace what the battery serial number for my computer is. The original one that came with my computer. Does anyone know of a way to trace this?
The About this Mac function brings up a different battery serial number to the one that is on the sticker of the battery. Is this possible?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ntel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    Last Modified: December 09, 2009
    Article: HT3964
    Summary
The System Management Controller (SMC) is responsible for many low-level functions on Intel-based Macs. These functions include:
Responding to presses of the power button
Responding to display lid opening and closing on portable Macs
    Battery management
    Thermal management
    The SMS (Sudden Motion Sensor)
    Ambient light sensing
    Keyboard backlighting
    Status Indicator Light (SIL) management
    Battery status indicator lights
Selecting an external (instead of internal) video source for some iMac displays
It is possible that the SMC could encounter a problem that may cause unusual system behavior typically related to the symptoms described below. In some cases, resetting the SMC may be the only correct method to resolve the issue, however, an SMC reset should only be attempted after all other standard troubleshooting has been performed.
    Products Affected
    Portable Computers, Desktop Computers
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
If your Mac appears to be running normally but isn't responding, force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Note: You will lose any unsaved work in any open applications.
For Mac portables experiencing issues related to the MagSafe power adapter and/or battery, try:
Unplug the MagSafe power adapter from the Mac and the wall power socket for several seconds.
Shutdown the Mac. Physically remove and re-insert the battery (if it's removable) and startup the Mac.
If the issue is still not resolved after following the troubleshooting items above, an SMC reset may be necessary.
After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
    Fans
The computer's fans speed up quickly and remain at high speed.
The computer's fans run at high speed although the computer is not experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated.
    Lights
The keyboard backlight appears to behave incorrectly (on Mac computers that have this feature).
The Status Indicator Light (SIL) appears to behave incorrectly (on Mac computers that have an SIL).
Battery indicator lights, if present, appear to behave incorrectly (on portables that use non-removable batteries).
The display backlight doesn't respond correctly to ambient light changes on Mac computers that have this feature.
    Power
The computer doesn't respond to the power button when pressed.
A portable Mac doesn't appear to respond properly when you close or open the lid.
The computer sleeps or shuts down unexpectedly.
The battery does not appear to be charging properly.
The MagSafe power adaptor LED doesn't appear to indicate the correct activity.
    System Performance
The computer is running unusually slowly although it is not experiencing abnormally high CPU utilization.

  • "Battery serial does not validate", but the number is within the range

My sister came home from abroad for Christmas, and I checked her PB 12-inch battery serial number. Her battery has the serial number ZZ3480FJPVEA as far as I can see. This falls into the replacement range:
    12-inch
    iBook G4 A1061 ZZ338 - ZZ427.
On the exchange page, Apple writes: "If the first 5 digits of your battery’s 12-digit serial number fall within the noted ranges, please order a replacement battery immediately." But the battery serial does not validate even if I replace the zero with the letter "O".
Are there batteries within the range that still are ok?

I could not post an answer to the topic without marking the question
    "answered", though it wasn't!
Strange, because the question is not marked as answered and it is not necessary to mark it in order to reply (simply click on the "reply" link near each post you want to reply to).
However when you feel that your question is answered - or the forum cannot be of further assistance - mark the question as answered and maybe also give some final notes.
If you got helpful replies, then you may award the posters by granting points. You can do so by clicking to "helpful" and "solved" buttons appearing near each post (you need to be logged in).
The buttons mean what they state: "Helpful" in the sense of user gave a useful answer or further information allowing you to solve an issue with some work of your own. "Solved" means that this post of the user is mainly responsible for managing an issue.
You can only mark one posting as "solved" in a thread, and - I hope this is correct - two or three times marking posts as "helpful". With the last, I'm not sure, you may have a look at "Help & Terms of Use".

  • I have a valid Serial # for Adobe Acrobat XI, and it shows on my account, but when I try to install it seem to automatically go to "Pro" and says that my Serial # is invalid.  I need this right away!!!!  How can I fix this???

I really need help with this!  I have a valid Serial # for Adobe Acrobat XI and it shows on my account with Adobe.  When I try to install on my new hard drive it says that the serial # is invalid..  I tried to install the free version to get me out of a jam and it keeps saying that it failed!!!!  What can I do?

I am on Windows 7, and I was on Adobe.com.  I went to downloads and clicked on Acrobat XI standard.  It downloaded.  But when I went to run it said Acrobat XI Pro and would not accept my serial number.  I have done this now 4 times.  I think that the system is downloading the wrong version.  I am getting very frustrated and unhappy with Adobe!!!!

  • Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro?

Where can I buy a genuine apple replacement battery (A1309) for my Mid 2010 17" Macbook Pro? There are used batteries on ebay that don't appear genuine. There are some third-party knock offs. The apple store seems to believe they can replace it, but I have to make a reservation at the silly Genius Bar just to have them tell me how much it's gonna cost, not to mention then likely wait for them to order the battery and install it. I'm perfectly capable of installing it myself. I just need to know where I can order it?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Yeah, that's what I've finally decided. I was kidna super frustrated because the first apple store I called wouldn't even tell me a price or tell me if they could replace the battery without a Genius Bar appointment, and as I would have to take off work and drive acros town--and I don't have a car so I'd have to borrow one--that was pretty annoying. That call left me pricing linux laptops. I called another store to see if I'd have better luck, and the initial answer was the same, but the girl relented under some trying-to-be-nice-but-clearly-annoyed pressure, and she gave me the answers I needed: yes, they should have the battery in stock and it should be a same-day replacement that should cost $179.
It just *****, really, because there's so much about Apple that I used to love, and I'm watching it kinda melt away under their success in the mobile market. As a professional user, there's less and less reason to stick with them. Instead of being the best they can be, I feel like they're just trying to be flashier and just a little better than the other mediocre computer companies. Ugh. Anyway, now I'm ranting.

I have purchased both Acrobat 10 and 9.
I logged into my account at Adobe Worldwide Licensing website, and see the serial for 10.  However I do not see the serial for 9, and I am unable to install 9.  Is there any reason why there is no serial key provided for Adobe Acrobat 9?

That is a question you need to address to Adobe, not other users. I hope you also saved a copy of the download someplace, because AA9 is no longer available for download.
