Battery serial number records

Hi
I suspect that when my computer battery has been swopped with a faulty one whilst in a shop that was going to sell it for me. When I took it there it worked perfectly. When I got the computer back now the battery won't charge.
I'd like to try and trace what the battery serial number for my computer is. The original one that came with my computer. Does anyone know of a way to trace this?
The About this Mac function brings up a different battery serial number to the one that is on the sticker of the battery. Is this possible?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ntel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Last Modified: December 09, 2009
Article: HT3964
Summary
The System Management Controller (SMC) is responsible for many low-level functions on Intel-based Macs. These functions include:
Responding to presses of the power button
Responding to display lid opening and closing on portable Macs
Battery management
Thermal management
The SMS (Sudden Motion Sensor)
Ambient light sensing
Keyboard backlighting
Status Indicator Light (SIL) management
Battery status indicator lights
Selecting an external (instead of internal) video source for some iMac displays
It is possible that the SMC could encounter a problem that may cause unusual system behavior typically related to the symptoms described below. In some cases, resetting the SMC may be the only correct method to resolve the issue, however, an SMC reset should only be attempted after all other standard troubleshooting has been performed.
Products Affected
Portable Computers, Desktop Computers
Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
If your Mac appears to be running normally but isn't responding, force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Note: You will lose any unsaved work in any open applications.
For Mac portables experiencing issues related to the MagSafe power adapter and/or battery, try:
Unplug the MagSafe power adapter from the Mac and the wall power socket for several seconds.
Shutdown the Mac. Physically remove and re-insert the battery (if it's removable) and startup the Mac.
If the issue is still not resolved after following the troubleshooting items above, an SMC reset may be necessary.
After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
Fans
The computer's fans speed up quickly and remain at high speed.
The computer's fans run at high speed although the computer is not experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated.
Lights
The keyboard backlight appears to behave incorrectly (on Mac computers that have this feature).
The Status Indicator Light (SIL) appears to behave incorrectly (on Mac computers that have an SIL).
Battery indicator lights, if present, appear to behave incorrectly (on portables that use non-removable batteries).
The display backlight doesn't respond correctly to ambient light changes on Mac computers that have this feature.
Power
The computer doesn't respond to the power button when pressed.
A portable Mac doesn't appear to respond properly when you close or open the lid.
The computer sleeps or shuts down unexpectedly.
The battery does not appear to be charging properly.
The MagSafe power adaptor LED doesn't appear to indicate the correct activity.
System Performance
The computer is running unusually slowly although it is not experiencing abnormally high CPU utilization.
Video
A computer that supports target display mode does not switch into or out of target display mode as expected.
A computer that supports target display mode switches into or out of target display mode at unexpected times.

  • Battery Serial Number Report For Laptops?

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a report of the battery serial number via ARD 3?
    Chris H.
    G5 Desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

In theory it should be possible even though I have not tried it. Using system profiler you will be able to gather all sorts of data (Serial Number for computer and Battery Stats like charge capacity, power level, times charged etc... cant remember about Battery serial try it an see).
To run profiler from UNIX comand level, click on the ARD 3.0 Unix icon, type in "system_profiler" and save it as a template for future use.
    Accessing system profiles with Terminal
You can generate a system profile with Terminal using the system_profiler command line tool. To use this tool, enter the following command in Terminal: /usr/sbin/system_profiler
For more information about the system_profiler command, enter "man" and system_profiler.

  • Macbook Pro Battery Serial Number

Recently I have given my Macbook pro to local apple service center as it suddenly turned off & never got started, I was informed by service center that it has some problem in its logic board so I need to replace it. but my Macbook is out of warranty period.. so they have quoted me Rs:39,000 for replacing the logic board.. that is simply out of question why would i spend 39,000 on the logic board, if I can buy Ipad even with the lesser price and it seems much more easy to use for me. so I've got my macbook back without rectifying it.
However last night I observed that its battery has come out from one side and was not flush with the rest of the casing. So i popped it open using the latch and tried to see if i could close it properly.
It seems like the battery has sort of expanded on one side, to the point where it's pushing up against the access panel and not letting it close completely.
I never gave my machine to service center like that, battery was exact fine, I am quite sure that battery is not of my macbook, it has been replaced with crashed battery while it was in the service center (as my macbook was in the service center for more then one month).
So i am looking for the way to find out if this battery is for my macbook or not. the problem is I don't even have its box or receipt which could include its configuration details and since my macbook has logic board problem so I am not even able to switch it on to check..
If some one can please tell me that serial number which is given on the Macbook Battery is the same as actual Macbook serial number which i can see in Battery bay; I can see both serial no's differs.
i am not sure if batteries have its different serial numbers from the machine serial numbers? if some can tell me this so that I can go back to service center with the concern or if battery serial no is suppose to be different then please suggest me how can i go about notifying same to service center, I mean if they would deny and won't accept; either battery has been changed or damage to the battery has been caused by them; then i would have no proof to prove this.
    Please suggest??

Your battery's serial number was never the same as your MBP's serial number, and there is no way for you to tell whether another battery was substituted for yours in the shop unless you have a record of the original battery's number. Your MBP's original purchase receipt and packaging would not have included the serial numbers of components and subassemblies like the battery — only the whole computer's serial number.
Batteries sometimes swell abruptly as they approach the ends of their useful lives, and it's entirely possible that your battery did so while it was in the shop for a month. Now you will need a new battery as well as a new logic board if you want to continue using the computer. But because you aren't willing to pay the cost of a logic board replacement, the battery doesn't matter.
If an iPad would meet your needs, buy it.

  • Battery serial number on my mac

recently I've given my macbook pro for harrdisk repair and after I took it back my battery doesn't last as long as it use to. I have a suspicion that they have kept my original battery and replaced it with an older one. is there any way you could track the original battery's serial number. my mac's serial is C17FXK7TDH2G.

Try the info from this thread.

  • Battery & serial number issues.

I just recently got the logic board on my MacBook replaced because my computer wasn't turning on. Everything works fine, with the exception of a couple of things.
Every time my MacBook reached the 7% of battery power remaining, it'll give me a warning telling me that I'm running on reserve. Fine. I'll let it drain completely until it should sleep. Instead, the MacBook completely shuts down, every time. This has not happened before the logic board replacement. What could be done to resolve this?
Also, the serial number of my MacBook is not showing up in System Profiler or in About This Mac. It simply reads, "SystemSerialNumb". How could I fix this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

You should try re-calibrating the battery. If that doesn't help then reset the PMU. If that fails then you may need to have the battery replaced.
The loss of the serial number is normal when the logic board is replaced.

  • "Battery serial does not validate", but the number is within the range

My sister came home from abroad for Christmas, and I checked her PB 12-inch battery serial number. Her battery has the serial number ZZ3480FJPVEA as far as I can see. This falls into the replacement range:
    12-inch
    iBook G4 A1061 ZZ338 - ZZ427.
On the exchange page, Apple writes: "If the first 5 digits of your battery’s 12-digit serial number fall within the noted ranges, please order a replacement battery immediately." But the battery serial does not validate even if I replace the zero with the letter "O".
Are there batteries within the range that still are ok?

I could not post an answer to the topic without marking the question
    "answered", though it wasn't!
Strange, because the question is not marked as answered and it is not necessary to mark it in order to reply (simply click on the "reply" link near each post you want to reply to).
However when you feel that your question is answered - or the forum cannot be of further assistance - mark the question as answered and maybe also give some final notes.
If you got helpful replies, then you may award the posters by granting points. You can do so by clicking to "helpful" and "solved" buttons appearing near each post (you need to be logged in).
The buttons mean what they state: "Helpful" in the sense of user gave a useful answer or further information allowing you to solve an issue with some work of your own. "Solved" means that this post of the user is mainly responsible for managing an issue.
You can only mark one posting as "solved" in a thread, and - I hope this is correct - two or three times marking posts as "helpful". With the last, I'm not sure, you may have a look at "Help & Terms of Use".

  • Automatic serial number and record of vendor's serial in Tcode Migo

    Hello experts,
We recently changed the serial numbers from manual to automatic creation while executing "MIGO".
However the warehouse manager wants to record the vendor's serial number as well, at the same time, is there a way to open a window, in migo for vendor's serial number record.
They are reluctant to record the vendor's serial number in a separate session,

  • Serial number for photoshop cs6

i i got my adobe photoshop cs6 from my school admin, they gave me serial number but i lost now my trial is experied but i signed in to adobe id before to get my product serial number but i dont get any help from my adobe account what should i do?

Your explanation is not very clear - it's one long run on sentence with various ideas merged into it.  If the school gave you the serial number then you should probably get back to the school to get the number.
If it is not available thru your Adobe account online, you need to register the software to have your serial number recorded.

I had to reinstall my computer and lost all my external apps, and I would like to have the app I bought back.

Either you have your serial number recorded somewhere or if you registered your product with Adobe you would have created an account with Adobe online and the number would be recorded there.

If you never installed and do not have the packaging that the disk comes in then you are not likely to be able to do very much.  Had you installed and registered it you might find your serial number recorded in your Adobe account online.  As it stands, you have nothing more than a disk and that is not proof of ownership unfortunately.

If you registered your oproduct when you first installed it then you might be able to find the serial number recorded in your Adobe account online.  Beyond that, you need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

  • Create serial number - asset from goods receipt

    Hi,
We configured the sync functionality between PM and AA, so when we create a serial number via transaction IQ01, the fixed asset master data is created automatically.  We also configured the serial number profile in the material master.  When we create a goods receipt (MIGO) the serial number data screen comes into place.  We save the GR document, and when we check the serial number data in PM this info is correct, but the synchronization between fixed asset didn't work it means, no asset master data is created.  Is there some missing configuration?  Even the tcode IQ01 works fine, why in this operation (MIGO) the configuration doesn't work ?
Any help on this topic we'll be very appreciated.

    Hi,
in customizing transaction OIS2 I'm using the serial number profile 0010 (Stock check) and in the serializing procedure Goods Receipt and Issue Doc (MMSL), the serialization usage is 03 and the equipment requirement is 02 (always with equipment).   When use MIGO for goods receipt I noticed that after the serial number creation (via tcode IQ03) some serial number mandatory fields have no value, like Company Code (BUKRS) and Cost Center (KOSTL), and other mandatory fields for the master records.  If I modify the serial number (tcode IQ02) and complete the mandatory fields, the synchronization work fine since the asset master record is created.   I'm suspecting that some of these fields (like company code) are necessary for the asset creation.  I checked the whole PM/AA/MM configuration for these fields to in some way, assign them the corresponding value taken from the goods receipt or material and give it to the serial number record for creation.  If you know something else please let me know.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Maintain revison level at Material Serial Number

Any pointer on how can I maintain and track the revision level by Material Serial Number?
All SAP information I have seen is maintaining revision at Material master.

Thanks for responding. My understanding is that ECM only maintain revision level at Material Master but not at the Material Serial Number.  If we use ECM, am I able to track revision level by serial number. I cannot find a revision data field in the Material Serial number record.
Currently, we create material master id with part-number/rev to track the revision at serial number record.
