Battery service, how long to do?

My computer is telling me to take it in for service on the battery, anyone know how long of an appointment it could be?

When you get to your appointment, explain right away that you just need the battey replaced and need your computer for school. The job is quick enough to be accoomplished within the normal duration of a scheduled Genius Bar visit, if no time is wasted doing other things.

Normally activation should only be a matter of minutes, but if your iTunes library (where you're trying to activate the phone)  is in a place where you have no cell service, it will not activate until you take it to a place where you do have service.
So if it is sitting idle and not activating that could be a reason (happened to me). If you're a Verizon customer you may have to dial *228, then press 1 to finish the activation.

  • Battery Dead - How long for them to send a new one back?

I just bought a 30G iPod video and I noticed the battery life wasn't even like 5 hours. It would run out in about an hour or so. I took it to the Apple Store in Cambridge and they told I had to send it to APPLE.
Now, I want to know if anyone can tell me how long does it normally take them to send a new one back, it has an engraved message on the back. That's why they said I had to send the damaged one back and get a new one.
Anybody gone thru this before? How long does it normally take?

If your iPod was engraved by Apple when you bought it, service will take approximately two to three weeks from the date they receive your iPod to the date you receive your replacement.
If it wasn't engraved by Apple (you had it done after you bought it), your replacement iPod will not be returned engraved and it should take about a week.

  • Added Services - How Long to Activate?

Yesterday morning I upgraded some services to my FIOS TV and Internet.  I upgraded to Extreme HD and  moved up to a 20/5 Internet plan. The sales lady said the changes would go into affect by midnight last night; however nothing has changed yet.  Tech  Support said to wait a few days for the changes to occur.  Can anyone tell me how long it should take?

I suspect there is a problem with your order.
I tried to upgrade to Extreme and 20/5 several weeks ago, was told it would take 30 minutes or less. Didn't happen. Called back 6 hours later, after research was told there was an exisitng "phantom' order on my account scheduled for 10/29, no other changes could be made to account until that order completed, and my upgrade had been cancelled. Took some help but finally got the "phantom" order cancelled, upgrade was requested again, went through very quickly.
Based on my experience, I suggest that there might possibly be something that has caused your order to be cancelled, and if it has, for some reason Verizon appears to never, ever voluntarily notify you of that. So I suggest you call and check (my experience with checking on the website is less than stellar, a day after I found out my order had been cancelled, the website still showned my order "in progress.")
I have seen multiple reports that the new service really was available 20 to 30 minutes after ordering.

  • When doing a full battery discharge, how long to wait before recharge?

I use my 17" MBP as a desktop computer. Never need to travel anywhere with it, and never need to use it on battery. But I know that to maintain the health of the battery, it needs to be used. So I'd like to know the following:
    1. Apple tech support informed me that when I fully discharge the battery, I should keep it in that fully discharged state for six hours before recharging it. This is quite inconvenient, as it requires careful planning to ensure one won't need the computer for six hours when the battery runs out. Which causes me to do full discharges less frequently than perhaps I should. Does one really need to wait six hours to get the benefit of the discharge? Or can one plug the power adapter in immediately when the discharge is complete, so as to be able to keep using the computer?
    2. Some Apple staff say one should ALWAYS use the computer on battery. And only use the power adapter as a battery charger-- i.e. don't use the power adapter routinely to power the computer. Only plug in the adapter when you need to charge the battery. Is this true?

    Thanks to both of you.
@eww: Yes, there was another question in my mind which both you as well as the thread you referenced, address: the need to use the battery frequently but lightly. This is a new concept for me, and I did not get guided at all in this direction by the tech support staff at apple. So reading the info you've given and referenced, it sounds like the best usage is frequent, partial use of battery. And recharging each time, before it is fully discharged. With full discharge and recalibration only once every 2-3 months.
Two different tech support people at Apple told me that whenever I do use the battery, I should use it all the way down. Do not do partial usage. And it was one of the tech support staff in the Apple Store in Annapolis MD, who told me that I should ALWAYS use the battery. There was no misunderstanding; I spoke to him for about regarding related points on battery usage. And if you ask the tech support staff how often calibration should be done, you'll get different answers every time. One told me every week, another told me every month, another said he wasn't certain what the best schedule was.
If you still have access to free tech support, do an experiment-- call the tech support line 4 or 5 times, and ask the same question each time: optimal strategies for battery maintenance, for someone using a MBP as a desktop. I did this 5-6 times in attempt to find out the best approach, and got different answers every time. And NONE of the staff gave type or detail of information which was provided in the reference you gave.
So thank you very much for your help. You have made the matter really clear!

  • In the Apple Push Notification Service,How long does a push notification sit in queue before being removed?

Official developer documentation isn't clear about this.
Apple Push Notification Service includes a default Quality of Service (QoS) component that performs a store-and-forward function. If APNs attempts to deliver a notification but the device is offline, the QoS stores the notification. It retains only one notification per application on a device: the last notification received from a provider for that application. When the offline device later reconnects, the QoS forwards the stored notification to the device. The QoS retains a notification for a limited period before deleting it.

This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. We have no way to know what and when Apple will do something.

  • Battery question- How long should they last

I got a 15 inch MBP in August 2011.  This is my first Apple laptop.  I would sure appreciate some help on this one.
When I first got the computer, I would charge it and use it on and off of the AC.  I read about calibrating the battery and did it once about a month ago.  Then I did it a few days ago.  Since I calibrated the second time, it seems the battery runs out very fast.  For example, this morning the battery was fully charged.  I used it for less than 10 minutes.  The battery percentage read 98 I believe.  I put the computer to sleep.  I think about 5 hours or so latter I went to check the computer and it had gone to sleep with a depleted battery.  It seems to me that going from 98% to 0 in sleep mode is not good.
Before I calibrated it seemed to do fine.
Please help me and give me any suggestions you can.
    Thank you very much.

MBP's made after 2009 have pre calibrated batteries and do not need to be calibrated: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490
The battery should last 1,000 cycles before it reaches 80% of its original capacity.  Read this:http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

  • Ipod Mini battery - how long?

I have a 2nd gen Ipod mini 4Gb. I estimate that the battery lasts 10 - 12 hrs max with 50% vol and minimal hunting round the menu. I have just got an itrip and despite griffin's statements, it looks like its chewing battery!
How long do you folks get with normal operation and how long with an itrip mini attached?

I have a 2g 4GB mini and the itrip, On a few long car trips I've found that a full battery will last 7-8 hours, beyond that I had to buy a car charger. On about 10+ car trips the battery has lasted into the 7-8 hour range.
    Hope that helps.

How long does your iphone take to charge when at various battery levels remaining?
When your iphone is at 10% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
(Assuming that you charge the phone when the phone is off using the Apple USB cable or dock through a wall power outlet)

    Usually 1 1/2 Hours tops.
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Around the Same
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Thirty Minutes.
I think if it is taking you 6 to 7 hours then something is wrong here. Either the battery is flawed, the cable or dock is flawed, or something is wrong with the outlet. It should not take that long.

  • How long before I might need to change my ipods battery?

I've had my ipod touch 2nd gen for 4 yrs and I heard about the battery needing to be changed eventually. Can I just into an apple store and ask them to change the battery and how much do I need to pay. My warranty has already expired and I didn't renew it. What are the symptoms of a battery needing to be replaced? Thanks.

See this article for more details: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/battery/
An iPod is eligible for out-of-warranty service if it is no longer eligible for warranty service or the Out-of-warranty Battery Replacement Program and is determined by Apple to be repairable. If you want to set up your iPod for out-of-warranty service, we recommend that you take your iPod to your local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.

  • How long does the warranty repair service take?

    Hi,
I bought my laptop on 2007-07-06 and few days later I have noticed that my RTC battery isn working properly, so I have returned my laptop to Toshiba on 25.07.2007. On the Toshiba Service Status site http://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/WeblordTracking/default.aspx i see that they received it on 27.07.2007.
The next entry, which is 30.07.2007, says that the repair is in progress and nothing else. So, does anybody know how long can take a battery change, and how long do I have to wait for my laptop?

    Hi Leszek
As you know it is not easy to say how long time the repair will take and I presume it is not the same by every authorized service partner. Some of them do this faster and some need more time because they have no parts for replacement.
If you are now in PL (Poland I suppose) it will take a little bit more time as usual.
BTW: why you didnt try to load BIOS battery as described in Users Manuals? If I am remembering well the loading time is about 48 hours. If you want you can check it in Users Manuals.

  • I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?

I ordered a battery for my laptop because it said to replace battery soon.  How long can I let the new battery sit around as I wait for the old one to run out of more charge?  Will the new one become less effective if it sits around too long?

How much capacity is remaining on your current battery?
    Check your power status
From the  menu: Hold OPTION and click System Information... èHardware è Power
Copy and Paste in your reply.
The new battery will become less effective if you store it in a hot or humid environment. It should be stored at room temperature (22 C).
    Long term storage (6 months):
Apple recommends that you store the battery with a 50% charge. If you store a battery when it’s fully discharged, it could fall into a deep discharge state, which renders it incapable of holding any charge. Conversely, if you store it fully charged for an extended period of time, the battery may experience some loss of battery capacity, meaning it will have a shorter life.

  • Should I leave Verizon with one month left on my contract so I can upgrade? The ETF seems worth it considering the bad customer service I received and how long I've been with Verizon.

I've been with Verizon for a really long time and one of the best things about their upgrades was that they used to allow you to do it a little early.  And since you dont really keep up with plan changes until a new phone comes out or you are closer to your upgrade eligibility date, I didnt realize that they changed this.  My phone is on its last leg.  2 years is a long time for a device that you use every day, 50 times a day.  My upgrade date is a month away and I'm considering moving to a different service and letting them pay for my ETF.  I have called Verizon asking if there was anything they could do to allow me to upgrade early and they said no.  When did this start happening?  They tried to sell me the "Edge" but thats the same as paying 700 dollars.

ATT doesnt care how long you've been with them
cox doesnt care how long you've been with them

  • I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it?

Hi, I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. I've tried everything! All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it? All I want are my contacts and my old calendar back. These did not sync with iTunes like my photos, music, and video. I can probably get an older, replacement iPod, but I don't want to have to readd all my important dates and reminders, as well as contact information. I guess I have two questions:
    1) is there a way to get my ipod to start working again?
    2) is there a way to get my old contacts and calendar back again?

    Try here:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
To get the calender and contacts back if you can't get the iPod working is to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old one.
