Battery stuck in the wireless imac keyboard

Hi there, I have the wireless keyboard for my imac, and recently it's been lagging so I've gone to change the batteries but the last battery is stuck in. Any ideas on how to get it out?
Thanks

Your battery may have become corroded or has expanded due to being defective. You may be faced with replacing the keyboard.

What do you mean by "insert"?  Insert what to where in what?
Could you be referring to the "Enter" key?

2 batteries stuck in my wireless apple keyboard....any ideas?

One of them must have leaked and/or swollen in there — not a good situation. I'm afraid there is no way of getting them out that you haven't probably thought of already, and if there has been any leakage, there won't be any good way to clean it up even if you get the batteries out.
I would try to jolt them loose my tapping the end of the keyboard with the end of the battery compartment open on a firm surface that is softer than the aluminum shell and won't mar it, e.g. a block of 2x4 lumber, and hope for the best.
What type of batteries are they: alkaline (best for this use), lithium, or NiMH?

You may just want to save yourself any possible issues
by just hooking up a wired keyboard and mouse on first
start up.  Any USB keyboard and mouse should work.
There have been many that have had problems on first boot
    using the Bluetooth devices.

  • Pairing wireless iMac keyboard to iPad 4

Am trying to pair my iMac wireless keyboard to my iPad 4, but don't know how to obtain pin or pass code. Thanks much!

First, you need to unpair it from your iMac:
Press and release the On/Off switch on the wireless keyboard to turn it off.
On the currently-paired Mac, choose System Preferences from the Apple () menu, then choose Bluetoothfrom the View menu.
Select the Apple Wireless Keyboard on the left side of the Bluetooth preferences pane.
Click Delete in the lower-left corner.
Then you need to make the keyboard discoverable:
Press and release the On/Off switch to turn on your wireless keyboard.
The green LED should begin blinking if the keyboard is not already paired and connected to another computer. The blinking LED indicates that the keyboard is in the discoverable mode. If you don't pair your keyboard with your Mac within three minutes, the indicator light and keyboard will turn off to preserve battery life. If this happens, press the On/Off switch to turn your keyboard on again. Note: If the LED doesn't turn on, make sure you have good batteries in the keyboard and that they are properly installed.
And then follow these steps on your iPad:
From the Home screen, choose Settings > Bluetooth2 and turn Bluetooth on. iPad searches for nearby Bluetooth accessories.
Choose the Bluetooth accessory, and then enter a passkey or PIN if prompted.
Bluetooth headset: Refer to the documentation for the headset to determine the passkey.
Bluetooth keyboard: Type the passcode displayed on the iPad on the keyboard and then return.
When pairing is complete, you can use the Bluetooth accessory with your iPad.

  • Using the new imac keyboard on the macbook pro

is there a software update that allows the use of the new features of the imac keyboard when hooked up to a Macbook pro (core2duo) It would be great if the screen brightness, dashboard keys, etc would function as they are labeled.

I suppose you're thinking of the 27" iMac that might be used as an ext screen and/or the 24" LED.
Both come with a MiniDisplayPort input - that will work with current MBpros. If you want to connect an older MacBookPro with only a DVI connector you'll need an additional DVI to MiniDP converter.
Such animals exist and cost approx 100 Euro like this one: http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-p-17859.html

  • Is the new iMac keyboard (small) the same as the one in the new 15" MBP?

Hi, I have an easy question but I couldn't find any information on the Internet. I just bought a 24" iMac and I was willing to buy a skin for the keyboard (I already have an iSkin for my 15" 2008 MacBook Pro and is great). When I opened the box I had the surprise of a smaller keyboard (without the number keypad). So the skin that I was looking to buy for the imac keyboard did not fit in the new one. My question is, if the iMac keyboard is the same as the one in the new 15" MacBook Pro. I ask this because I can't find a skin for the new small imac keyboard and if it is the same as the MacBook Pro I can buy the skin for that keyboard. But before wasting my money I wanted to be sure they are the same.
Thank you very much in advance

That's no news, although it there are other things apart from the layout that could make them different: the spaces between keys and the format of the keys are also important. As I don't have an new MBP I was wondering if someone could tell me if the keyboard of the imac and the one of the MBP are the same.

  • How can I get the third battery out of the wireless keyboard to change it?

I got a message to change the batteries in my keyboard, but only two batteries will come out.  Is there a way to get the third one out?

turn your keyboard over-there should be a diagram telling you how many batteries
it takes (2 or 3). If you do have a 3 battery keyboard, perhaps a little wiggling or tapping may help, or a little wd-40, maybe a chopstick?

  • Aluminium wireless iMac keyboard FN key

When up and down arrow keys are pressed together - it locks my FN key in place. It's constantly on and thus the backspace key and arrow keys are not working (becoming delete and home, page up, page down, end).
After restarting everything returns back tgo normal. And yes, i do happen to press up and down arrow keys together at some times, so the problem arises anew after the restart.
What is causing this? How can I fix this?

Tried the keyboard with some other computers. The same problem persists. Using the "Show Keyboard Viewer" it is very clear that my Fn key is being pressed without me touching it.
As I said before, restarting restores the default functionality to my keyboard with no errors whatsoever (yet I can't press up and down arrows together, 'cause that triggers the perma-pressed Fn key state).
Anyhow, checked the shortucts. Nothing out of the ordinary. Restored the keyboard shortcut settings to the default settings just to be sure. That didn't solve the problem either.
Then i simply brought the keyboard to apple service and after a quick check-up they told me that water had gotten inside and had fried the circuit, so ..well..that explains everything. A faulty keyboard due to somebody using my iMac and spilling water over my keyboard.
Oh well - bought a new keyboard. All is well. Problem resolved! Thanks.

  • Wireless/Bluetooth Keyboard - last battery stuck inside

I now have 3 of these keyboards ... the
    small wireless bluetooth keyboards that
unscrew on the end and take 3 AA batteries
...  and now two of them have the last
battery stuck in the end of the unit,
either stuck, frozen, rusted, corroded and
there seems to be absolutely no way to
convince the little bugger to exit.
I even went so far as to squirt WD-40
inside around the stuck battery, let it
soak in and try to decellerate it out the
opening by slamming it against a doubled
    over mousepad. No luck.
Since I have a 66% failure rate on these
things, I would guess that some other
people might be having this problem as
well and may even have thought up a
    solution to it.  Anyone ???

I JUST got my batter out!  Wd-40 did the trick for me.  I had to spray it a few times--the last one being quite heavy, as I figured it was my last shot before giving up and just tossing it.  Lo and behold, with just about 10 hard bangs, I noticed it started getting closer to the opening (very slight).  Before long, it was totally out.  Now, I'm using a hair dryer to dry it out.  Looks like the bottom came loose a little--will reply if the keyboard still works!  Debating whether or not to try new batteries so soon or let it sit for a few days.  The anticipation will probably kill me...

  • Help with very slow connection if apple tv linked to wireless apple keyboard

My husband and I trying to connect the wireless Apple keyboard to our Apple tv so we can get rid of the pesky and cumbersome Apple tv clicker. However, when we do so, our connection slows to a crawl and we cannot access sites like Netflix et al. We disconnected Bluetooth from our Mac Book Pro as we noticed that the keyboard serves only one master. This did not fix the problem. We are at our wits' end. Your help would be immensely appreciated.
Oh, and also, I had been thinking of installing AirPort Utilty. Is this a good idea and why do I not see it in the AppStore, only on websites of dubious provenance?
    Thousand thanks,
    J and F
Er, and while we're at it, why do we need to choose between my apple address and my husband's when we set up homesharing? This is another clunky thing that simply is opaque.

However, when we do so, our connection slows to a crawl and we cannot access sites like Netflix et al.
Not caused by the keyboard.  It connects via BluTooth, the video services over eithernet.  They have nothing to do with one another.  There is something else going on.  Have you tried connecting ATV via a wired connection instead of WiFi.
why do we need to choose between my apple address and my husband's when we set up homesharing?
Because you can only use one AppleId.  It would be a huge leagal mess if it displayed content from multiple accounts at the same time.  The copyright holders would never allow it.

  • WRT54GL unable to access wired shares or printer on PC from wireless iMac

The subject line applies to a new router on which I can access the internet ok both from the wired PC and the wireless iMac.
The problem is this router is unable to access the PC shares or printer from the iMac. Pls note, "this router"!
I have an identical WRT54GL v1.1, same firmware, setup is identical on both, one works with no problem, but the new one has the above problem..
I have spent a day on it and its in line for return on Monday, but I still hope for a miracle tip which may sort it out :-)
On the good one 'Port scan' of the PC from iMac gives me:
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 192.168.1.100
    Open TCP Port: 139
    Open TCP Port: 445
while the faulty one gives me:
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 192.168.1.100
    ..and thats it! No contact.
Yes, the router is set up for 'Lan & Wireless' (no way to change that setting to 'WAN only' it seems, it bounces back to 'Lan & Wireless')
I have btw done a Factory Reset on it (twice) with no joy.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Mvh

My first guess for this kind of problem would be a software firewall on the computer. The firewall will detect where it is connected and configures the settings depending on the location. Two routers are two different "locations". Try turning off the firewall or even better deinstall it as often some parts of those software firewalls are still active when turned off.
The only option that does affect access of wireless clients to the LAN is the "AP Isolation" option on the "Advanced Wireless Settings". That should be off.
Another thing you could try if you like: do a configuration backup on the working router and restore it to the faulty one. Maybe there are some settings that don't match and that you cannot configure through the web interface. Have you ever used a 3rd party firmware on either of the routers?

  • The wireless keyboards battery cap has stuck

I have an iMAC with a wireless keyboard.
The wireless keyboards battery cap has stuck. I have tried opening it with screwdrivers, coins and even spoon handles but nothing can open this.
This was purchased under 1 year ago. I called the company that supplied the product (Jigsaw24.com) and they said they will not fix the issue or replace the item without me incurring charges. Surely this item is still covered under the standard Apple Care Warranty or even covered under their company warranty? The cap is still running flush with the end of the keyboard and has not been forced. If i'm not able to access the battery compartment and change the batteries this item is useless.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why is the battery charger for the magic mouse and wireless keyboard not included in the package when I bought my iMac?

I was not given a choice or let known that I would receive wireless keyboard and mouse that requires charging. If I had known earlier I would have asked for non-wireless devices or bought the charger on spot.
The charger should've been a given and not be considered as a separate accessory that requires to be bought. This is the same as having bought an iPhone but not given the charger.
I am very disappointed with Apple regarding this matter. I hope it'll be resolved soon.

Oh, okay now I see where you're coming from. Sorry, I didn't know that they provided us with non-rechargeable batteries instead.
Well in that case, they should've provided us with rechargeable batteries instead of the alkaline ones. I mean, the sole purpose of having wireless mouse/keyboard is the purpose of convenience. Having to replace the batteries (that don't last very long from my experience) does not seem convenient to me.
What's more, by providing users with non-rechargeable batteries is not an environmentally friendly choice as this results in an increase in disposal of hazardous waste. I'm bringing this environmental issue up because they have an environmental policy in their company, and on their website they talk about their environmental resposibilities which is quite contradicting as shown in their actions, don't you think?
